This is a pretty cool soundtrack. What other soundtrack do you know of that has Pantera,Hatebreed,Shadows Fall,Morbid Angel, Fear Factory,& Lamb Of God on it? Three for the bands on it. Though they should've added Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem, Six Feet Under, Suffocation, and some other cool bands, and take away bands like 40 Below Summer,Static X, & Soil. That's just my oppion

3 out of 5 stars ok soundtrack.......2005-03-13

i appologize for the lengthy review, but theres 18 songs to review. so its kinda longer than a normal cd.

this is an ok soundtrack that showcases some good songs by some good bands, some bad songs by good bands, and bad songs by bad bands. this one covers them all. heres the lowdown:

pantera-immortally insane...4/5...this is a good song with a sweat solo but repetative riff. needs more variation.

hatebreed-below the bottom...5/5...say what you want, but i dont mind hatebreed. their heavier than people give them credit for. i like this song alot.

soil-pride...5/5...this song is more catchy then genually good, but who cares? this is one of the catchiest heavier songs ive ever heard. (this isnt 'my sherona' catchy)

static x-deliver me...2/5...oh, how i hate static x, but this song is definately better than the rest ive heard. but its still not all that good.

mushroomhead-43...3/5...ive always had a soft spot for mushroomhead, i dont know why, but ive liked them ever since i was like thirteen. but this songs not all that great. kind of boring, id suggest getting xx and xiii, those are good albums.

seether-pig...4/5...this is a more grungy song. still its not that bad.

nothingface-down in flames...4/5...i hate to say it, but this songs pretty good. i like the verses, but the choruses arent all that great. all in all, its not a bad song.

40 below summer-self medicate...1/5...yes, this song is absolutely terrible stupid.

motograter-suffocate...5/5...im ashamed to say so, but this song is really good.

shadows fall-destroyer of senses...5/5...i love shadows fall. their kind of thrash/heavy/death metal all wrapped into one band.

meshuggah-rarional gaze...5/5...what can i say? meshuggah. this is an awesome song. the whole cd is worth for this song.

fear factory-archetype (remix)...2/5...i love the original archetype, but this one wrecks the whole song. get the album archetype, its awesome.

morbid angel-enshrined by grace...5/5...is by morbid angel, do i need to say anything else?

index case-listen...1/5...stupid. its something i would hear if i went to one of those local band shows. stupid.

finger eleven-stand in shadow...2/5...do not like finger eleven or this song.

lamb of god-ruin...5/5...this is...i cant describe it. pop this song in, turn it up, stand between the speakers, and you will understand.

sworn enemy-as real as it gets...1/5...stupid song.

core-tez-five months...2/5...what is this? mexican metal? it goes from distortion to spanish guitars? this is stupid. its good to laugh at though.

to some this up, its a good cd if you want to get into some good metal bands. the rest...meh...crap.

3 out of 5 stars Wimpy.......2004-05-04

Ok, the movie was a bomb. That is pretty pathetic that a movie released in 2003 with all the advances in special effects could not top a movie made in the 1970s on what seems to be a budget of $500. The movie should have made the point that producing anything for our conformist society will wind up trash. I think the producers of the soundtrack forgot this information.

I would rate this soundtrack higher than other blockbuster horror film soundtracks because most of the bands on here are somewhat decent. But the fact that they bands are okay does not eclipse the question of whether or not the music fits with the movie. As one of my predecessing reviewers mentioned, cannibal corpse would have been an obvious choice. Also, I would have added some Carcass, Nile, Dimmu Borgir, Slayer and other underground black/death/thrash/grindcore music.

5 out of 5 stars They don't give it enough credit.......2004-04-12

I have never seen the movie (either version) so I can write a review with out being biased towards it. This CD rocks! There is a good mix of styles going from almost mellowish rock to making your ears bleed. I give it 5 Stars!

4 out of 5 stars Creepy score for a creepy movie.......2005-07-24

This review refers to the score for 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', as opposed to the album.

Relatively little-known Steve Jablonsky has done an AWESOME job with the score for the remake of the 1974 horror classic, 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. The score creeped me out so bad I got chills down my spine just from listening to it. It always seemed to hint that something unpleasant was going to happen soon - whether that meant Kemper getting whacked by Leatherface's sledgehammer, Erin's wild run through the woods at night with Leatherface & his chainsaw close behind, or Andy's panic-stricken run through the backyard of the Hewitt house, steps ahead of the loudly-buzzing chainsaw. Jablonsky created a central theme - probably Leatherface's - using low brass, bassoon, and French horn to give the movie the sinister, creepy tone that runs through the movie. It's heard several times in the movie, which was why I bought the score. DO NOT MISS IT!

3 out of 5 stars TRAILER SONG: clarification once and for all..........2004-04-08

The song on the trailer was FASHIONED after the version by This Mortal Coil but was actually sung by my sister Renée from the band Moneypenny. It performed just by her (not the whole band) and only the portion heard on the trailer was recorded.

Also, yes, there is indeed a band called "Moneypenny." If you type "Moneypenny" in the search box under "Popular Music" on Amazon, their cd's will appear--"She's All The Rage" and "Apply The Labels."

Hopefully this will clear things up--thanks!

4 out of 5 stars eh...i could go either way.......2004-04-04

very good if you like the horror sounds traveled on throughout the movie, but if you looking for "Song of the Sire" its no where to be found...but you can download it with IMESH. It's by This Mortal Coil. and i was just wondering, yes i loved the song as much as most people, but why was is so important to own it? I mean yea its great and haunting and errie and kind of set the mood for the movie in the trailer, but its no big thing really...

still an ok CD only without the song most wanted by the ones who loved the movie...hmm..wonder why they didnt put that song on here...im sure that they got some kind of a hint that it was so populare and so in demand...hmm...maybe they will come out with a second recording of this CD, like they did for the titanic soundtrack way back when, with this obviously in high demand song...

5 out of 5 stars Title Song from trailer.......2004-03-31

5 out of 5 stars Better than you think.......2006-05-03

the soundtrack is pretty good for generic rock. Hard rockin' tunes, great for parties or jammin'. Would have rather had the score, not bad for what it is.

3 out of 5 stars From what I heard, it's really not all that bad. .......2006-03-13

I'll be honest, I have only heard 6 songs on it, and the first 5 songs I heard are kickass. As for the other one I heard, was piece of underproduced bull.
Laaz Rockit - Leatherface
Death Angel - Bored
Wrath - When Worlds Collide
Hurricane - Spark in my heart
Sacred Reich - One Nation
Wasted Youth - Gift Of Madness

The first 5 songs I have listed are awesome. As for Wasted Youth's gift of madness, that song SUCKS! But Wrath - When Worlds Collide in my opinion is the best song I have heard. Then again, Wrath happens to also be one of my favorite songs too, so ya. The other reviews I have read were mixed, saying that the album is disappointing, but like every soundtrack, there will always be a few good up numbers. From what I have heard, it's true.

3 out of 5 stars Laaz Rockit.......2006-02-20

I give this album three stars because there's three good songs on it.
If you're a fan of Laaz Rockit then buy this album, that's why I bought it,it's worth it just because of Laaz Rockit, they do the song Leatherface which is one of their best songs.
Then you have Wrath on this album,I don't like Wrath but they do the song When Worlds Collide which is pretty good, they have one of the best riffs on this song that I have ever heard and then Sacred Reich-One Nation, which is an awesome song, that's also on this album.
