Valentine (2001 Film) [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
This horror film about Valentine's Day can be excused for excluding Barry White on its soundtrack. The collection is not meant to be heartwarming. It is, essentially, a bloodletting. The lineup is a solid "who's who" of aggressive techno-metal in 2001: Marilyn Manson, Filter, Rob Zombie, Static-X, Deftones, and Orgy lead the way for up-and-coming acts Amanda Ghost and Snake River Conspiracy. Most of these tracks have been released before; however, many are remixed and some are otherwise difficult to come by. The special remix of Static-X's "Love Dump" was previously only available as a 12-inch vinyl single. Rob Zombie's "Superbeast" has been given a "porno holocaust mix." Disturbed's "God of the Mind" was only available on import copies of The Sickness. Happy holiday! --Rob O'Connor

My Bloody Valentine's entire career has been aiming toward the perfect guitar noise that Kevin Shields has in his head: a pure, warm, androgynous but deeply sexual rush of sound. Loveless is overwhelming, with Shields and Bilinda Butcher's guitars and voices blending into each other until they become a distant orchestra, the rhythm section striding in majestic lockstep, and occasional bursts of dance rhythms (as on the single "Soon") buoying the live instruments' warp and drift. Furiously loud but seductive rather than aggressive, the album flows like a lava stream from one track into another, subsuming everything in the mix into its blissful roar, and pulsing like a lover's body. --Douglas Wolk
Customer Reviews:
Just extraordinary in every sense of the word........2007-07-05
Still the greatest shoegazer album ever made (and arguably the first), "Loveless" is one of those rare albums that must be listened to dozens of times in order to be thoroughly appreciated, and once that happens, one can listen to "Loveless" countless times without growing tired of it. My Bloody Valentine's previous album, "Isn't Anything," perhaps hinted at brilliance, but it's not in the same league as "Loveless" which remains one of my top ten favorite rock albums.
With the swirling feedback sonic-drenched guitars, and the minimilist haunting vocals (Bilinda Butcher and Kevin Shields), "Loveless" sounds like nothing else before or since. No fewer than six songs completely blow me away: "Only Shallow," "Loomer," "When You Sleep," "Come in Alone," "Sometimes" (sung so beautifully by Kevin), and then, after somewhat of a lull, the incredibly gorgeous finale "Soon." For me, so many emotions emerge during what feels more like a profound journey than a mere listening experience.
My question is how could Kevin Shields and his bandmates put out something so unique and wonderful and then never release another album again? I don't know if they would have ever reached these heights again, but they certainly could have tried. Fortunately MBV inspired many other bands, some who carried on the shoegazer mantle quite well. Right now, for instance, I've been listening alot to Voyager One and Bethany Curve, both who owe MBV big-time.
I think I would stand on line all night in the rain to see a reunited MBV perform "Loveless" live. I'm not sure I could say that about any other band and album.
P.S. - Above, I mentioned that this album was one of my top ten favorite rock albums. Here they are (in no particular order):
Loveless
Stone Roses - self titled album
In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
Disintegration - The Cure
Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis
Born to Run - Springsteen
Who's Next - The Who
Beggar's Banquet - The Rolling Stones
To Our Children's Children's Children - The Moody Blues
Joshua Tree - U2
To my fellow shoegazer fans, may I recommend:
Ferment - Catherine Wheel
Nowhere - Ride
Monster Zero - Voyager One
Gold - Bethany Curve
The best album ever?.......2007-04-29
Is this the best album ever made?
I'm not sure about that... but i am sure that its up there with the likes of The Stone Roses, Pet Sounds and White Album.
It is without doubt my fave record ever... even beating The Stone Roses debut album. Whats more i still have my Loveless tour t-shirt :-)
Why Kevin Shields and Belinda Butcher never released a follow-up is a complete mystery to me. It may still happen though...
Personal fave of mine on the album is Only Shallow.
If you like this album you will love "You made me realise"... a fantastic tune.
Strange and gorgeous aural mystery.......2007-04-23
I'm an unlikely admirer of this record. 51 years old. Taking Lipitor. Bifocals. But, I've spent the last two years or so listening to this CD at least once a week. It's also an unlikely CD to admire. Perfectly reasonable people with refined tastes can be bewildered, even frightened by it. It breaks most of the rules that are supposed to apply to rock music. Brian Eno famously referred to the "vagueness" of the music and that's dead right. But, all I can say is that it magically finds some system in my brain that I have in common with lizards and plays it like a cheap guitar. It's wonderful.
Some More Insight (read if you don't understand this album).......2007-03-18
Ok, i finally stopped sleeping on this record and let me just say ... before you go hating it l-e-t i-t s-i-n-k i-n-t-o y-o-u f-i-r-s-t..i tell you i have seriously worn out my ipod playing this.. its pure euphoria falling asleep with it.. because it's like a dream.. its like someone you used to love and be with but now its just a mere thought.. and you wish you could go back to that time, but sitting there weeping you realize even if you did get back together, it would never be as it once was.
to me this record simply defines the use of vocal technique (gorgeous harmonies) guitar rhythm, and drum technique. Mind you there are some tracks that i really do not care for as much as others ("loomer", & "touched" are mediocre at best, and "I Only Said" certainly wears out it's welcome)
With that being said, there are some absolutely hands down BRILLIANT moments on this album .. i can't emphasize enough the vocalist, and his ability to speak to you, reminding you of a far away place, your past, the memory of a strange dream, and that feeling of nostalgia that we all get, but can never go back to what was.
"When You Sleep" is probably the most wonderful display of such i've heard in a long time.. the song itself makes me want to cry and thats how beautiful it is.. it reminds me of a past love, and the lyrics are so on point its chilling.. i'm telling you, this guy can fucking sing .. he reminds me of listening to a yo la tengo tune with some slowdive mixed in.
"Come in Alone" is yet another beautiful piece with all members being perfectly in sync with eachother.. it's breathtaking how these guys play together.. their on another planet.. they all know exactly what eachother is thinking.. and compliment eachother so well.. noone steals the show, their all contributing an equal amount with their respective instruments.
"Blown a Wish" is probably my favorite tune out of the bunch.. a euphoric piece of atmosphere that just makes you wish you just shot up.. i can't even imagine what this record would sound like on dope or something.. i'd probably float to heaven.. thats really the only way i can explain this song. perfection.
"What You Want" is another amazing piece with a number of mini climaxes scattered throughout.. and it never fails to satisfy, and it's a bit faster in pace compared to the rest. the end is ridiculously good and leaves you wanting nothing more because of how fitting it is. shit, it's what i wanted.
"Soon" is pretty good, nothing really to rave about in my opinion, just an all around solid song. (goes on a little to long IMO)
"To Here Knows When" is pretty good, on the same plane as "soon" nothing really to rant about.. i'd rate it as decent compared to the above song.
This leaves me to review "sometimes".. how in the hell do i do that? well the strumming is perfect .. the distortion is perfect.. the lyrics even better.. the climax even better.. the whole vibe is just .... epic.. thats how i'll put it.. THE END of this epic album
i'm giving this 5 stars because the highs heavily outweigh the lows no question.. and i always find myself coming back to this record because of the vocals if nothing else.. prepare to be taken away
one love.
4 1/2.......2007-03-17
this album is a regular on greatest albums of all-time lists that i see. upon first listen i hated it. upon second listen, i still hated it. i am up to about a dozen listens now (i like to give things a chance), and, as you see, it's up to 4 1/2 stars in my book. i am now fascinated by this thing. this is like the beautifully demented music of some dream in a warp zone dimension. walls of sound piled onto walls of sound. waves of noise. pulsing speed shifts. often the music is static (by this i mean there is a lack of forward motion), like it is running in place. these static motifs create tension that builds and are not always resolved. i firmly believe that you can only fully appreciate this album if you listen on headphones. my first few listens were blasted through my stereo speakers, and, as i said, i didn't get it. you may need patience with this soundscape. give it plenty. it will pay off. i will say this: your average lynyrd skynryd fan is NEVER going to do anything with this recording except hate it. that is not a rip on lynyrd skynryd, a band i happen to love; it's just a true statement that the AVERAGE skynryd fan will hate this, as will most fans of classic rock. i won't even begin to go into the american idol crowd! anyway, fantastic dreamscape noises for the open minded. i recommend it highly. who cares, right?

Album Description
The Poison' is an album rooted in classic British metal, with brutal riffs and colossal, pounding drums all lovingly and respectfully thrown into the mix along with the band's own blend of powerhouse aggression and youthful anarchy and energy. With `The Poison', Bullet for my Valentine are set to firmly establish themselves as the front runners of UK Metal, and give all the US bands a run for their money.
From the stunning opening introduction track, guest staring classical metal titans Apocalyptica, the million miles an hour heavy as hell `Her Voice Resides', the acoustic metal classic in the making `All these things I hate (revolve around me)', through to the top anthem `4 Words (To choke upon)', this is a debut album to savour in all its epic, metal glory. Working once again with uber producer Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Cradle of Filth), the album successfully manages to capture the blinding raw energy and power of a band with the world at its feet, a band about to explode!
In the last year, Bullet for my Valentine have toured with Atreyu, It Dies Today, Funeral For A Friend, and just finished their headlining "Kerrang Tour" with special guests Hawthorne Heights.

My Favorite.......2007-06-21
My God, Bullet for My Valentine is one of my favorite bands. Not because of its "popularity," but because of its rather...unique sound. I'm not sure if it would be called unique due to the guitar solo's and excessive screaming, though...ah, well.
This band's sound is more in-your-face, like most Metal-based bands, with excellent guitar riffs and solo's. Certainly, this CD will not bore you, unless you get over things quickly. Other than that, this is a somewhat memorable band.
Somewhat. It could have been more shocking, it could have made us think, "Wow." And I mean, WOW. Oh, well. That all drives us towards the impossible perfection, now doesn't it? Hm.
This is highly recommended! Very nice, indeed!
One of the Greatest Metal Albums to come out of UK in a While .......2007-05-09
I first got this album after hearing there song Tears Don't Fall and I enjoyed it a lot. I like the fact that they mix good vocals with good screaming. I like screaming but I don't like too much of it and these guys give a good blend of both vocals and screaming. I a amazed that the lead singer can sing, scream and play guitar at the same time. This is a good album from a very talented band and I am impressed that everyone except the drummer gives significant vocal contribution. Recommended for anyone who enjoys Hardcore or Emocore. Highlights are Tears don't Fall, Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow, and All Theses Things I Hate (Revolve Around You).
Screamo-metal for mallcore kids.......2007-04-30
The Poison was introduced to me by a friend of mine who thought I might like them. The first song was good but,the rest of the album left a sour taste in my mouth. If I had to describe this record I would say it sounds like Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold had a love child. The guitar is actually really good but, the singing is way too emo for my taste. It isn't very original either. You might even think that you have heard some of these songs on other metal records that recently came out."The Poison" does have it's moments. I liked "Spit You Out" and "4 Words" alot. Had there been more metal singing, less emo singing, and a little more originality it might have been worth buying. Instead they just leave you wondering if the same people who created N'Sync created these guys. 2 stars weak
The metal I've been looking for.......2007-04-24
This is the metal I've been looking for. Speed and aggression WITH technical ability and good song-crafting. On top of that, the guy can actually sing (when he chooses to--he likes to do the Pantera/Hatebreed vocal-cord, shredding-screaming-thing, which I don't get personally). Cool riffs and some cool soloing (but not much).
For me, The Poison draws on those elements that were best in 80s speed-metal while still having a contemporary sound. I don't give out five stars lightly but this is the best new disc I've gotten in quite some time.
Highly recommended.
Excellent job.......2007-04-23
Guys did a product which is very very interesting. A lot of drive and energy and beautiful guitar play. Must listen if you like both early Metallica and new stuff (Papa Roach, Ill Nino) ...

Kristin Chenoweth won a Tony for the supporting role of Sally Brown in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, made a memorably vampy Lily in the 1999 television film of Annie, and had an NBC sitcom created for her, Kristin! Now she grabs the spotlight in Let Yourself Go, her first solo recording. She mixes torchy standards ("My Funny Valentine," "How Long Has This Been Going On?") with Faith Prince-style sauciness ("If"), gets to show off her operatic and scat chops in the miniplay "The Girl in 14G," and shares a light duet with Jason Alexander (reviving his musical theater career post-Seinfeld). Perhaps her "Stranger Here Myself" isn't the weightiest you've ever heard, but this is an enjoyable album with a good deal of old-fashioned class, expertly accompanied by Rob Fisher and the Coffee Club Orchestra. --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
One of the best ever!.......2007-04-24
Do I mean the best album or the best singer? You are correct if you said both! I saw Kristin Chenoweth on a PBS show "Broadway's Best at the Pops," (though it was not the first time I had heard her) and decided to check out the offerings here. This is a collection of the kind of music and performances I love. She has a great range, a precise pitch, and a great style that is at the same time true to the music and to herself. In an era when singers try to outdo each other re-interpreting the composer's original work, not usually with great success, she is a blessing!
Kristen Chenowith.......2007-02-26
I bought this CD for the Girl in 14G. Yes, it's that good...
Has its moments.......2007-02-19
After watching Candide endlessly and going to see Ms. Chenoweth in The Apple Tree, I was hungry for something more portable to listen to. At times this fits the bill, but what surprised me the most is how thin her voice comes across on this recording. Perhaps it was the joy of seeing her live that has ruined this listener; perhaps I need to upgrade my aging music system. Then again, maybe the recording is just not as good as Ms. C singing Bernstein or as good as staring at Ms. C command a Broadway stage.
Great CD!.......2007-01-19
I truly enjoy listening to this CD. Kristin Chenoweth's vocal style and abilities are very well-matched to the songs selected for this album. If you enjoy classic, older-style Broadway/popular tunes, I would highly recommend this CD. Ms. Chenoweth has a bright, expressive voice and does a fantastic job with this material.
As with any full-length CD, there are a couple of songs I am not as crazy about, but that has to do with the songs themselves, not Ms. Chenoweth's vocal performance. Overall, I love this album and have listened to it several times now, since receiving it as a Christmas gift last month.
This woman has what it takes, and then some..........2007-01-12
Kristin Chenoweth brings new life to some timeless Broadways tunes while introducing a few wonderful new ones. This high pitched vocal goddess effortlessly provides for a nearly flawless and easy listening experience. I definitly recommend this CD for anyone who enjoys jazz vocals, showtunes, or just a new spin on some old classics.

Chet Baker was at the height of his popularity, the epitome of cool jazz, when these tracks were recorded for Pacific Jazz between 1952 and 1954. While Baker could hold his own in bop settings, the emphasis in this collection is squarely on his lyrical approach to ballads, whether singing or playing trumpet, with just a rhythm section or an added string orchestra. His vocals were absolutely distinctive, sung in a high-pitched, even fragile voice seemingly drained of emotion and yet possessing an inherent charm, a detachment that might be both the antithesis of style and its definition, whether it's heard as sensitivity or indifference. The singing is a double of his trumpet playing here, spare and barely present but achieving much through nuance and suggestion. Pianist Russ Freeman is an almost constant partner, supplying deft chords and harmonic daring, amplifying Baker's ideas. Their empathy is especially evident in the beautiful instrumental "Moon Love," but it's just as significant on signature Baker songs such as "My Funny Valentine," "Let's Get Lost," and "Like Someone in Love." --Stuart Broomer

My Funny Valentine - Chet Baker.......2007-06-08
Dreadful shame this man died so young. So much talent both singing and playing the trumpet. A smooth, easy listening cd. Highly recommended
Sweet and Sultry and Simply Spectacular!.......2007-01-05
This music is perfect for a rainy day curled up on the couch by the fire with your significant other by your side. It's a shame they don't make music like this anymore. My favorite of all Chet's albums and one of my all-time favorites period. His rendition of "My Funny Valentine" is my personal favorite (even trumping Sinatra's wonderful version). There is not one song that disappoints, the whole CD is an absolute treasure. The man knew his limitations as a singer, and although he wasn't blessed with a voice like 'Ol Blue Eyes' or Johnny Hartman it's the raw emotion that he puts into the songs and the way he is able to phrase them (ala Billie Holiday) that makes it so special. Also his trumpet playing is absolutely superb as usual. One of the most romantic albums you will ever hear! I promise you will not be disappointed. Now go out and buy it now and play it on that special date with the woman (or man) of your dreams.

reviving an old memory.......2007-06-08
This is a recording of an old vinyl which was in my collection. It was good to see that it was available, on CD, just as I remembered it sounding
Thanks.
So BAD she's GOOD .......2007-04-21
This is the most remarkable singing in all of recorded history. So BAD she's GOOD, Florence Foster Jenkins bankrolled herself into mini-stardom selling out her invitation-only once-a-year recitals until she became so legendary, she sold out Carnegie Hall to an audience snickering into their handkerchiefs. These recordings showcase that as BAD as Jenkins is, she gets WORSE . . . brilliantly so! With sensitive and serious accompaniment, Jenkins' voice is like a cross between a clucking chicken and a squeak toy played by Rusty Hinge. Each tune reveals a new vocal weakness (at best) or a deeper absurdity (at very best); these selections are a Punk miracle of self-delusion. I am grateful to all the brave reviewers who gave 5 stars 'cause they're right in its essential laughter factor; if you have a funny bone you cannot NOT laugh while listening to this lady sing!
my ears and belly hurt.......2007-04-11
My ears hurt from this absolutely abominable performance, and my belly from laughing.
A must for all music lovers.......2007-01-05
I first heard this album (LP) about 20 years ago on the radio. I recently recalled it and did a search on Amazon and to my amazement it and other titles were available. I purchased this disc for my wife's Christmas present 2006. We both cannot stop laughing every time we listen to it. I highly recommend this disc to anyone who loves the classics and has a hidden desire/dream that one day they too will be discovered and perform in large concert halls to utter amazement of the audience. Buy it, you won't regret it.
Florence's voice caused my dog to shake in fear........2007-01-02
This woman's voice was so bad that my dog started to shake in fear...then he ran and hid in my parent's room. I gave my friend the cd as a Christmas present and she said it ruined her Christmas. I, on the other hand, have never laughed so hard at someone's lack of musical ability! I've never heard anyone sound so horrible! Now, I don't want to give her all the credit..because when I heard Thomas Burns sing I FELL TO THE GROUND AND LAUGHED UNTIL I CRIED! I guess that's why I am giving it 5 stars. Anything that can make me laugh until I cry is worth its weight in gold!!!

Josh Groban fans who caught the singer's 2004 Closer tour would no doubt take note of Lucia Micarelli, who was the violinist and concertmaster for Groban. Like her boss, who also is executive producer of Music From A Farther Room, Micarelli is a young, attractive, and talented player who has the classical training, but who is also enchanted with pop music. Also like her boss, her strain of classical crossover works thanks to tasteful accompaniment, in this case from arranger/composer Paul Schwartz. The smartly chosen program of material comes from such varied catalogs as David Bowie and Rogers and Hart. Micarelli's playing is emotional without being overreaching, assertive when called upon, and nuanced. When she does go over-the-top pop on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's brief but fun; when she navigates Piazzolla's "Oblivion" she draws upon the song's passion more than its technical requisites. This is a debut with likeable pizzazz, coming in a genre not often enough known for it. -- Tad Hendrickson
Album Description
For anyone who has attended Josh Groban's phenomenal live show, you will have undoubtedly had the pleasure of seeing and hearing his lead violinist, Lucia Micarelli. Lucia came to Josh's tour after appearing with the Trans- Siberian Orchestra playing arenas across the U.S. in 2003. With the close of the second leg of Josh's tour, Lucia is recording her debut album in New York and London with producer Paul Schwartz. Musical selections will range from the works of composers Ravel and Ennio Morricone to David Bowie.

Music from a Farther Room.......2007-05-22
I heard Lucia Micarelli during a 2007 Josh Groban concert. Her live solo performance in addition to her backgrounds for Groban were mesmerizing. I purchased this album to see if it was as enjoyable as her live work, and I was not disappointed. Micarelli performs a good mix of classical and pop pieces. My favorite tracks on the album are Smarkland, Meditation, Lady Grinning Soul, Portrait, and Nocturne/Bohemian Rhapsody.
relaxation.......2007-05-13
This CD is very well done. I was familiar with old favorites and delighted with new songs. I would like to hear more of the rock songs preformed by her. I think she's got a lot of talent and could possibly do well with the rock songs on a future album.
amazing.......2007-05-07
Lucia has power in her playing. I think that she shouldn't be allowed to play violin this good. Her raw talent is conveyed in every song. She doesn't just stick to classical, as the accompaniment music isn't just strings. I wished she had played a little more in Bohemian Rhapsody. I saw her in concert with Josh Groban and I knew I had to purchase this CD. Lucia is an inspiration and her love for the violin cannot be contained.
Talented violinist.......2007-03-29
When I saw and heard Lucia Micarelli perform with Josh Groban at a recent concert, I was so impressed with her talent, that I immediately went online to see what music of hers was available. Every item on her CD is wonderful, and I'm looking forward to her next CD.
Lucia does for Violin what Ian Anderson did for the flute.......2007-01-22
I saw the beautiful and gypsy-like Lucia play with Ian Anderson a few months ago, and she was absolutely amazing! The whole audience kept chanting "bring back the girl!" everytime Ian stepped back on stage, and these were all tried-n-true Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson fans who just paid over $100/tkt to see him. She played Stairway to Heaven on the violin, and totally rocked the house. She smoothly slipped from classical to jazz to rock, much like Ian does. Hopefully it will be on an upcoming CD. As she becomes better known, I am sure she will bring a whole new generation to the Violin, just like Ian got a whole generation of Baby-Boomers playing the flute.

An Awesome Live Band, These guys Kill!!.......2007-07-05
I Am watching dvd Version of this Right Now, and Maroon 5 Are a Killer LIVE Band as well, as excellent Recording artist!! You will get 2 Discs with this package, 1 for Dvd Concert, and cd for Concert Songs. They Are both Awesome, is the only way to describe both!! And Just so you dont think im some teen age follower, im 32. They Appeal to anyone Regardless of Age in my Opinion! Of course most of these are the same songs from songs about jane album, but there all totally live, and the fact that you also get the Dvd is a no brainer! So if your fans and Dont have time to get to a concert, or just want the live version , Dont wait it is definetly worth the price!! Peace all.
great band, badly mixed.......2006-10-15
The dvd is good. I love their music and they perform with plenty of energy and emotion. It's good to see them stretch out musically on some of their songs. My complaint is with the CD. The music is poorly mixed. It seems to be a straight transfer of the dvd soundtrack, which any one with xillisoft or similar software could have done for themselves, although possibly not, given what previous reviewers have alerted us to about the copy protection software. Anyway, my point is that the cd hasn't been remixed for dedicated audio listening. As a result the crowd noise is way too loud all the way through every song. It is like listening to the cd in a room full of crickets and mosquitos, on a windy night next to a freeway by the ocean. The poor quality of the mix extends to the balancing of the instrument levels. In some songs the lead guitar sits out clear and strong and in others it is swamped by the rest of the band, robbing songs of their climactic moments.
A disappointing effort from a greaty band.
Great CD, Great concert.......2006-03-27
This is one awesome band, incredible musicians, the down and dirty lyrics remind me of some of the great R&B stuff back in the day. And Adam Levine's voice, you ain't gonna get him confused with anyone else.
The CD has been in my car's player since I took it out of the package. Like someone else said, I can play it over and over and not get tired of the music.
I hope these guys are around a long time
Content/ Copy-Protected CD - Rubbish.......2006-03-06
This spoilt it for me. I work away allot and couln't wait to download this on my ipod, which does actually copy, but the playback is messed up.
I bought this album and every other album I have on my Ipod and I should have the choice as to where I want to listen to it.
Secondly I hate the fact that it automtically installs software on my PC.
Don't buy it if you want to listen to it on you IPod.
Excelente.......2006-02-25
Es un muy buen disco, que se complementa con un buen dvd. Vale la pena comprarlo.

A tribute to Manhattan composed by maestro Gordon Jenkins in the forties! One of the best yet.......2007-06-19
I first heard Manhattan Tower in 1962...a friend had the record and I couldn't get enough of it....I still have the original record at home I would never part with it....I'm so glad this came out in CD....it brings out so many memories.....Thank You so much
Incredible CD - Incredible Value.......2007-06-11
This is another of the forgotten shows that Sepia Records has brought back to life. The music and lyrics are wonderful, and the transfer is absolutely superb as are all of the Sepia recordings. The bonus material is incredible as well. I've been told that another issue of MANHATTAN TOWERS is around that doesn't have nearly the same amount of music on it. Where else can you get a CD that has close to 80 minutes of music on it and not pay a fortune? I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of Sepia Records because of their re-release of shows like this and wonderful scores like MAKE A WISH and HAZEL FLAGG that have disappeared as well. Check out Bette Davis in TWO'S COMPANY for an all-time classic. With quality and value like this, I hope that Sepia Records are around for a very long time.
This is just the most amazing record..........2007-06-07
I am absolutely thrilled that this record has come out on CD. I have had a copy of it ever since I first saw it, and it has always been one of my very top favorites. The music is so pretty, the songs are so beautiful, the singers are so good, and the way it's all put together is just amazing. It's a love affair in a beautiful setting, and if you haven't heard it, you really owe it to yourself to listen. I'm so happy Amazon's got it for such a good price; I want to buy a copy to send to everyone I've ever loved. If you like pre-rock-and-roll pop music, kinda the Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra sound, or if you like Michael Buble and things like that or even Barry Manilow, you'll really like this CD.

Customer Reviews:
Best Movie Tunes you Never Heard.......2007-06-15
Admittedly I'm a big Sting fan but this CD exceeded my expectations. His original compositions are great and his covers, particularly Michel LeGrand's Windmills of Your Mind (a favorite song) bring something absolutely unique to each song. A lot of music you can't get on any other Sting CD.
Worth Every Cent.......2007-02-17
Yes, it's expensive, but if you're a Sting fan, find a way to buy this. Today. Now.
It's a small price to pay for such a comprehensive selection which includes many of what I consider his best recordings. The fact that there's an overwhelming number of jazz pieces only adds to the overall value. Sting excels at this genre, but has kept them out of his commercial releases, though I have no idea why.
A personal favourite -- the sublime Moonlight from the soundtrack to "Sabrina" -- makes a welcome appearance here, together with other noteworthy gems like The Windmills Of Your Mind ( sensual ), Until... ( lovely ), My One And Only Love ( gorgeous ) and It's Probably Me ( super cool ).
18 terrific tracks, one rare collection, superb sound quality. You couldn't possibly ask for anything more.
The Sting you may not know.......2007-01-10
A wonderful collection of recordings by Sting done for movies. His interpretation of My One And Only Love is one of my favorite versions of this song. There are many well done Jazz standards and this is as close as one can get to a Jazz standards album that Sting available now.
My Funny Valentine..........2006-12-19
This is an expensive update of the import that came out and I bought a few years ago. The additions are amazing especially My Funny Valentine, which is all you'd expect it to be: a quiet, thoughtful reading by Sting closely mic'd and accompanied by an upright bass and soft piano arrangement. (Think 'Moonlight.') 'Until' reminded me of the b-side 'This was never meant to be.' 'My Funny Friend and me' is nice and the Irish flavored 'the Mighty' sounds like it could've been on the Mercury Falling CD. However; you DO get the superior 'Windmills of your mind.' which was originally a Brand New Day b-side, (which probably adds to the price tag) AND you get the original 'Fragile' from 'Nothing Like the Sun.' Overall, these songs are exchanged for 'De Doo Doo Doo', 'I burn for you', and 'Need your love so bad.' Which is all to the good--however, why the disc ends with the loud Demolition Man remix is anyone's guess.
Expensive? Define expensive........2006-07-22
18 tracks for 50 bucks seems extravagant? Not here. Not at all. Under ordinary circumstances I'd agree that 50 bucks can go a long way elsewhere say on iTunes but you HAVE to have this cd if you have any love for music. Figure this into the equation: Where do you get a perfect musical combination of hip and cool but without hype and yet still acquire the epitome of sophisticated? Where do you find such absolute impact as Sting's experience and vocal outgrowth? He reaches and it works - magnificently. Get lost in these 18 tracks and thank me later.
The extraordinary orchestrations and his voice make it clear why many of these songs were focal pieces for movie scores. I love this cd. I treasure it in fact. If you're on the fence - choose "yes." *whispering* sometimes you can find it much cheaper on eBay.
