Enemy Of The State (1998 Film) [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
This Will Smith vehicle/political paranoia potboiler was the last film credited to the blockbuster producing team of Simpson-Bruckheimer (Top Gun, Flashdance, Beverly Hills Cop, The Rock, ad profitum; Don Simpson died of a drug overdose in 1996) and features another big, brash, largely synthesized swashbuckler of a score by the Armageddon team of former Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin and musician-composer Harry Gregson-Williams. But then how could it be otherwise when one's music has to share the soundtrack with copious gunshots, explosions, screeching tires, and the sound of costar Gene Hackman gleefully gnashing at the scenery? There are enough '90s techno influences to ensure that it sounds contemporary, and adequate string interludes to keep the cap on the Advil. --Jerry McCulley

C-Bo's best.......2006-11-01
Standout tracks: ENEMY OF THE STATE, CRIPPIN, DEATH RIDERS, PAPER MADE, GET THE MONEY, ITS WAR(Yuk takes shots at Master P), SPRAY YOURSELF(Yuk and C-bo chop Master P down to size on this one), RIDE TILL WE DIE, FOREVER THUGGIN, NOTHIN OVER MY GZ, BORN KILLAZ, HERE WE COME BOY(great last song)etc. Filler: No retreat no surrender. Bottom Line: C-bo made Till my casket drops(which was good too) a distant memory with this album. I cant find one song I dont like because you can tell he put a lot of effort into this one. The collaborations are tight, the production is unforgettable and the hooks and lyrics are as sharp as they have ever been. This is another one of those good albums that you've never heard.
Great CD by C-Bo.......2004-11-25
C-Bo returns, again, with another CD a year later and his first on Warlock since he left AWOL. Definitelty one of his best 2 or 3 albums to date. The production through the whole album is great (mostly handled by Mike Mosely, Rick Rock, and Mike Dean). Has a few classic tracks and features some big names but no to many people are on it like most of his stuff. Has about 4 songs I skip toward the end but the rest are tight as hell. If it didn't slack off at the end it would be one of the best rap albums ever. Get this CD you won't be disappointed - he even takes a few shots at Master P.

C-Bo's finest album.......2003-07-03
This is by far C-Bo's best album. My favorite track on the album has to be "Death Rider's". This song is a definite classic. This album is awesome and has a nice West Coast feel. Go get that, you dig.

wtf.......2002-09-22
only 9 peeps reviewed this.. what's wrong with you people.. this cd is a classic.. from the beginin' to the end.. cd starts of with enemy of the state track which pretty much explains his situation.. the production on the song is ill.. godda love how the news reports were blended in with the song.. next song is crippin' with daz and i'm disapointed to say that daz came of better than c-bo on this one.. the song is hot but i think c-bo could have came of better.. f..k, i dont' feel like reviewin every song so i'm a just mention some of my favorites..... the two songs with mobb figgaz are definitely hot, and the other song where he features only ap9 from mobb figgaz is ill as well.. godda love the song with WC.. two of the original west coast mobbstaz together on a tracks.. it's just plain ill.. the 'spray yourself' diss to mp with yukmouth and spice 1 on chours is bangin.. listen to taht track before you go fight somebody.. guaranteed to break some heads.. 'get your money' is ill too.. this was the single i believe, although there are better songs on the album than this one.. the only song i did not like that much is the one with cj mac, and even that song had some good parts.. :) get the cd.. Pc!
sicc.......2001-10-05
c-bo is straight laced with game. if you have ver heard any C-Bo in the past and liked it, then be sure to pick this one up, you wont be dissapointed. It's Gangsta. It's Sicc. C-Bo's last album before this one (the final chapter) was kinda [boring], but now he's off AWOL and on West Coast Mafia so you know this one will be sicc.

Excellent Score.......2002-09-27
The overall score was worth sampling and purchasing. Despite the inaccurate portrayal of the agency, its functions/duties, and capabilities, the soundtrack does incite certain moods and emotions that parallels the mentality of those who dedicate their life to serving in silence. Succinctly, this is worth listening to and can serve as an acoustic-motivational factor for any person pursuing intelligence endeavors for this country.

Enemy of the Score.......2002-04-11
This is one of the absolute best movie soundtracks by Harry Gregson and Trevor Rabin. The music is a bit of rock and a alot of synth--most of there scores are. The Main Theme is the best. An awesome film, an awesome score. It is not as good as Con Air or The Rock. Nothing can get your heart throbing like music by Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson-Williams. The tracks I like the most are Main Titles, Coal Yard and Brill's Theme. I enjoyed this album. Try The Rock, Con air, Metal Gear 2, The 6th Day, Spy Game and Gone in 60 Seconds.
Trevor Rabin + Harry Gregson-Williams = Best Score of 1998.......2001-09-23
WOW! I'm a longtime fan of Zimmer and Media Ventures, and this is any MV fan's dream-come-true. From the same team that composed ARMAGEDDON, EotS is as synth-heavy and pulse-pounding as Armageddon and The Rock. It is slightly better than Armageddon, because Rabin finally refrains from using guitars. Here's looking to Rabin+Gregson-Williams in the future!
ENEMY OF THE STATE + TREVOR RABIN= AMAZING!!.......2001-08-04
I don't really understand why every review here doesn't give this amazing score 5 out of 5 stars!! This is an amazing score to a great film-another Rabin success. He gives us some of his best theme work ever, almost beating out the Deep Blue Sea score.
Anyone who enjoys amazing powerful & themeatic material should look into buying this one right away!!
Thanks for reading!
A mixed bag........2001-07-14
While the overall merit of Tony Scott's films have veered between the repulsively brutal lows of "Revenge" and the excrutiatingly tense highs of "Crimson Tide", it's hard to deny that this roster has always been strong on mood and atmosphere-thanks owed in no small part to his unerringly stylish and glossy cinematic eye. However, music has also played its part in his films, and eons away from Harold Faltermeyer's '80's "Top Gun" effort lies this score for his frenetically paced chase/conspiracy thriller. Divorced from the film's visual pyrotechnics, Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson Williams [appropriately for a film obsessed with technology] electronic score seems to divide into two camps. On the one hand are compositions that simmer under the film's plot mechanations: you know, the kind where characters listen in on the heroes from far off buildings and on telephones with the aid of tiny, shiny, black, wire-infested doohickeys. These passages are the score's weak points, as they fulfil nothing more than their function; to enhance mood, and as this means little more than the electronic orchestra clicking, beeping, groaning and rumbling menacingly, it only occassionally engages the listener. On the other hand, there are the slightly more traditional action pieces to accompany the film's kinetic chase sequences, and this is where the score becomes worthy of a listen. The main title literally leaps on top of the listener, pounding away with relentless intensity and malicious intent. Similarly, tracks like "Zavitz Chase", "Hotel Chase", "The Tunnel", and "Coal Yard" hammer away with rhythmic, breathless and merciless themes, and while not to everyone's taste, they're very effective, working as pulse-pounders in their own right. What we are left with is a film soundtrack that, without trying to discredit Rabin and Gregson-Williams talent and effort, will make good use of your CD player's "program" function.
