Lexx [Soundtrack]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Sometimes dubbed "Star Trek's evil twin" by its admirers, the television series Lexx seems hell-bent on being the tawdry mirror image of the original Trek and its various spinoffs. Canadian composer Marty Simon puts his wealth of rock and pop experience to good use on the show's soundtrack, leaning heavily on drum loops, evocative samples, and snarling guitar in a manner similar to the work of Eric Serra. But the show's quotient of satire and general loopiness also affords Simon some fun with music that ranges from the almost collegiate chorus of the "Brunnen G Fight Song" to the erotic parodies associated with the show's star-crossed love slave, Zev/Xev. In short, it's the perfect music for a bunch of morally challenged misfits seeking their destiny aboard a galaxy-hopping mutant insect. --Jerry McCulley

Computer Generated Music.......2006-04-13
There was one memorable, original theme on both CD's, that of Way O Way. The rest sounded like a combination of out right rip-offs of popular artists mixed in with lame computer geek imitations of Moby. If you are any kind of musician, skip this.
Lexx Soundtrack - All Versions.......2003-06-03
The Lexx soundtracks are amazing! The combination of modern techno with fantasy essence reminds me a lot of Enigma!
The night Lexx finalie was played, I sang Yo-A-O along with Kai, Xev, and Stan. I nearly cried whe Kai died. He wanted peace so badly but I wanted it to continue. There should be more Lexx movies now that Lexx' had an offspring.
Brilliant! This is the best possible soundtrack!.......2002-06-07
This soundtrack and the Tales From A Parallel Universe soundtrack(The other LEXX soundtrack) are composed of rich, beautiful music. Just preview "The Search" or "Xev's Dream" or the LEXX Theme Song (#1). Buy this cd. You won't be disappointed. Also, preview "Fantasy Dance" on the Tales... soundtrack, it's excellant. You don't even have to like LEXX to love this track. Highly recommended.

the music Mr Simon contributes to the series is what first drew me to the show. His musical interpretation of the content is unsupassed by any composer to movies, television or plays...not only does he create hauntingly beautiful scores but he contains in his CD's a sampling of every genre of music today - salsa to opera...I have even created a bellydance to "Feppo's Party". I am buying another set (the movie soundtrack and the tv series soundtrack to keep as a back-up should my current discs become damaged. There is something for everyone on these cds.
Music that gets under your skin..........2001-08-20
This is an excellent CD. The music has a pulse that you can FEEL rather than just hear. You don't have to be an avid Lexx viewer, my sister who has never seen an episode loves a lot of the tracks too.

Only for Dark Zone Lovers!.......2002-02-15
I highly recommend this album only if your a fan of "Lexx," otherwise it might be to new-age goth for the music maven at heart. The album features a lot of background music heard from the first season of the sci-fi show like the intro song and a the Brunnen-G fight song. (You know that song that Kai is always singing). There are also some actual dialogue clips from the show that come before the appropriate songs. I admit some parts of the album are a bit cheese, but some of the cuts of this album would be great for radio station spots. I'm currently a college Dj with a 80's dark wave show and the music from this album is great for background beds and intros. So once again this album is probably only for the cheese at heart or people interested in having a great dark zone show!
My favorite quote from the album is on track number #9.
790: "I'm equipped with love."
Stanley Tweedle: "I'm equipped with a love muscle."
(I think the song either appears in Luvliner or Super Nova when Stanley Tweedle is almost molested by Tim Curry (A.k.a poet man)
Tales/Lexx CD Other Worldly.......2001-05-24
The CD from Tales From A Parallel Universe or to it's fans better known as The Lexx Movies, is able to transend it's other worldly music to even the hardest sceptic of Lexx. The rythum and melodies of the songs bring pictures to one's mind of it's imaginative subject matter. And no one can resist the upbeat Fight Song of the Brunnen-G. Skeptics open your mind and take a ride on the Lexx to a new universe of music. Enjoy!
great scifi soundtrack of an underrated show.......2001-01-27
Lexx is either adored or hated. This soundtrack is universally adored. I have known people who have never seen Lexx break into Ya-a-o fight song. My best friend who cannot stand Lexx chooses this CD as his prefered gaming music. Sample junkies take note taht many good sounds and vocal clips are on this as well. So even if you are not a fan of the show but really like well composed and intresteing soundtracks, you must get this NOW!
Marty Simon's work on Lexx is Fantastic!.......2000-12-02
This CD was part two of my two step doorway into loving Lexx (perhaps see my Lexx review). Part one was Sci-Fi Channel's playing of the Four Lexx Movies (Sci-Fi's terrible marketing of Lexx almost stopped me from giving it the chance it deserves). The music on this CD, created by Marty Simon, is the fantastic score from those movies. Everyone's favorite "Yo-A-O (Fight Song Of The Brunnen-G)" is probably the Lexx-addict centerpiece of the CD; it is a brilliant vocal piece that has all the sense of the artist/poet warrior pride that the Brunnen-G culture was famed for, plus a tense and dramatic optimism for victory all wrapped into a less-than 60 second piece. This is brilliant composition and execution. The other tracks of note are the grand sounding theme ("Welcome To The Dark Zone"), "Gigashadow March," "Fantasy Dance" (which lives up to its name in a cute and positive but not at all Disney way), the dance-like thematic "Moth Ride" and even "Milk Fed Boys," which you have to see "Tales From a Parallel Universe 2.0" (second movie) to fully appreciate. If you like Lexx (even if only for just the four movies), pick up this CD; you will certainly appreciate it. It's one of my personal favorites. I hope to see more of Marty Simon's Lexx soundtrack released in the future. I am off to find out what else he created...
Fantasy/Futuristic Ambience for Non-Fans.......2000-07-20
I originally bought this soundtrack because I had seen a few epidodes of Lexx and thought I was going to become a fan. Although I don't watch the show much anymore, this CD still gets good play time in my house. That's because it's great, without even the factor of being tied to the movies and series. This CD was the first time I bought a score type soundtrack instead of ones filled with songs played in a movie (and overplayed on radio). The tracks are all enjoyable. The ones that really stand out are Battle Of The Universe (a laid back futuristic battle march), Love Muscle (a techno-ish dance nightmare, but I love it), and Zev's Shower (a beautiful, feminine journey). I even racked my brain and couldn't find a single thing to complain about; this whole CD is great!
