Stranger? More an alien.......2007-05-07
This music is so beautiful, so haunting it's hard to believe a mortal could have composed it
Badalamenti's blood and mascara in Venice.......2006-11-01
Some will argue that this score was better suited for an Italian ganster mellow drama like...The Godfather part IV perhaps. However, Francis Coppola stands firm on the debate of future "Godfather" releases. I wonder how many other films based on a Mario Puzo novel would have fared with Angelo Badalementi doing the background noise? No matter though, Angelo Badalamenti would become a very important figure in the days and lives of David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Lost Highway & Wild At Heart) fans.
Badalementi's score in Paul Schrader's (Blue Collar) 1991 film "The Comfort Of Strangers" will not only enthrall you, it will mesmerize you with or without the aid of the brilliant (albeit; creepy) Christopher Walken. Harold Pinter's play seems to take on an entirely different demension here, an atmosphere of impending doom lurks within every scene...or track. Not many films boast a superior soundtrack, Schrader's The Comfort Of Strangers does. This is a must have release, even for David Lynch enthusiasts.

One Reason the Movie is So Good.......2005-09-30
This is an incredible soundtrack. Having watched the movie many times over the years, I find the music haunting and evocative. I don't buy many soundtracks, but this one is exceptional.
Stunning!! Beatiful!.......2002-05-28
Angelo Badalamenti has to be one of my favorite composers. This story and music is compelling! I recommend the video as well. I fell in love with Helen Mirren and Christopher Walken from viewing this movie! It takes me to another place! I also have to recommend from PBS "The American Experience/The Donner Party." Angelo composed for that video also and the music is again stunning! Even though the story has a macabre tint the story is inspiring. If pioneers could walk to California just think what we can do with out lives in this day and age.
a gorgeous soundtrack.......2002-04-17
The movie is good, but the soundtrack is superb, with a main theme so beautiful and melodic, it becomes the most memorable part of the film.
Badalamenti has written many wonderful scores (like the David Lynch films of the last 16 years), but this one is quite an achievement, and puts him, for my taste, up in the lofty heights with my other favorite film composer, Nino Rota.
Played by the Symphony Orchestra of Prague, there are also marvelous Turkish themes using Middle Eastern instruments. It's mellow, sensual, and atmospheric...and is a great CD for "background music", or for listening.
It says in the brief bio on the leaflet insert that Badalamenti loves the operas of Mascagni and Verdi, and the main theme of this film, which has a distinct Italian flavor, ranks with the finest of their melodies...my only complaint is that at 36:29 minutes, it's not long enough !
