Aside from new tunes by Pavement (the Lou Reed hommage Sensitive Euro Man) and Yo La Tengo, this soundtrack looks back on the '60s with period covers by Wilco, R.E.M., Ben Lee, Bettie Serveert, Jewel, and Luna. The latter's velvety take on Donovan's "Season of the Witch" is the highlight; Ben Lee's massacre of "Itchycoo Park" the nadir. --Jeff Bateman

5 out of 5 stars This is one of my favorite albums.......2000-10-06

I can't remember why I originally bought this album, but I think it was for the first two tracks. I had assumed that this soundtrack would contain few songs that are actually listenable, as is the case with many soundtracks. I was SO wrong. This is one of the best CDs I own, and I listen to it almost obsessively. One of my favorite tracks is Ben Lee's version of "Itchycoo Park." There is something so honest and nonchalant in his approach of this song. I also really enjoy Jewel's "Sunshine Superman." The track twangs with seductiveness. This is one album you can actually listen all the way through!

5 out of 5 stars This is the best soundtrack.......1999-02-15

I've got this cd, and I listen to it all the time. It has a lot of Factory period songs, some of which are originals, some are re done by newer artists. One song is composed by John Cale, who was in the Velvet Underground. But my favorite is Sunshine Superman by Jewel, and Demons by Yo La Tengo, the band who plays the Velvet Underground in the movie. It's a song I could listen to over and over because it has such a strange feel to it. And there is also a dialogue clip of Valerie Solanas' SCUM Manifesto near the end. I also like Mas Que Nada alot too. This is the most eclectic thing I've ever heard, and it makes you think Andy would have loved this cd if he ever heard it. Definitely recommended. If you are even considering buying this in the least bit, I would urge you to take a chance on it. I'm glad I did.
