One wonders what Daredevil the superhero might make of Daredevil: The Album. Given his heightened sense of hearing, the costumed one would probably grab the volume control, since tinnitus-inducing modern rock is the primary fare here. Despite strong new fare from Fuel, Saliva, and Nickelback, the pairing of Drowning Pool with another cartoon character, Rob Zombie, is the clear winner on personality alone. Two cuts from newcomers Evanescence, including the song showcased in the film's trailer ("Bring Me to Life"), also stand out thanks to the dramatic vocals of Amy Lee, who should find favor with Tori Amos fans. Respites from the hard rock action round out the disc: a collaboration between Nappy Roots and P.O.D. guitarist Marcus Curiel is a rap-rock outing that actually satisfies on both levels, Autopilot Off chime in with some peppy emo, and the title theme gets a Chemical Brothers-style big beat overhaul. --Kurt B. Reighley

4 out of 5 stars Evanescence and Chevelle...my two favorite bands ^_^.......2007-07-04

Not to say that the others aren't great; they are. This isn't Chevelle's best song, though. It was written for this soundtrack. I suggest getting one of their CDs to actually get to know them. As for Evanescence, what can I say? This is when they were great. (Unfortunately, they're not so great now.) Drowning Pool and Rob Zombie is a great pair, not as good as when Dave was singing for DP (RIP, man) but still makes for a decent song. And of course, you have a bunch of other sick bands, too.

Overall, it's an album worth getting.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome, plus Evanesence!.......2007-05-11

What can I say. I love the soundtrack! The movie, not so much. But, the CD has some great tracks and Evanesence ROCKS!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Soundtrack Out There.......2006-08-19

The Daredevil Soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks that is out there. I'm going to agree mostly with the person who rated the songs but I have a little bit more diverse taste in music so I won't go hard on it for having Moby and Nappy Roots in it especially since that the track has Marcus Curiel Of P.O.D. The music is great and the only thing is I wish there was more music in it.

1. Fuel-Won't Back Down the title states how good the song is 10/10

2. The Calling- For You perfectly written and sung and the music video is awesome too. 10/10

3. Saliva-Bleed For Me Another great song by Saliva it may bee a little repetitive but it's a great song. 10/10

4. Seether-Hang On I like the song it's not that bad it has a good beat and gets a little slow but I do enjoy Seether 9/10

5. Nickelback-Learn The Hard Way It took me a while to start to like the song because well it wasn't what I was used too for Nickeback it's harder then most of their songs but it's definitely good. 8/10

6. Drowning Pool Featuring Rob Zombie-Man Without Fear Great song, great lyrics, great beat....
10/10

7. Nappy Roots Featuring Marcus Curiel I love this song it's so true the lyrics in it speak volumes although doesn't really apply to the movie since it's mostly rock songs in it but it's a really good song.
10/10

8. Moby-Evening Rain I can definitely understand putting this song in the soundtrack and it's beautifully sung and I'm not even a fan of Moby but the reason is that it needed to be there if you've seen the movie you know why so I give it a 8.5/10

9. Evanescence-Bring Me To Life everyone knows this song it's been on the radio before and it got a little old on the radio but it still is a good song. 8/10

10. Chevelle-Until You're Reformed The second best song on the album it got me started on Chevelle they are a great band the guitar solo in it is awesome. 10/10

11. Hoobastank-Right Before Your Eyes all I can say about this song is that it's great and is a very good song. 10/10

12. Palo Alto-Good song also got there cd after hearing the album which if you like the softer rock is a great band for you.
10/10

13. Revis-Caught In The Rain also another band I got the cd from although they have broken up after one album it is a very good band.10/10

14. Boysetsfire-Highwire Escape Artist good song good lyrics not the strongest on the cd but is still pretty good. 7.5/10

15. Autopilot Off-Raise Your Rifles haven't really listened to the song much it's one I normally skip but since I'm writing a review on the cd I figured I'd listen to it at this time I can only for the opinion of that it's an alright song but shouldnt' really be there. 5/10

16. Daredevil the blind justice remix theme from Daredevil. It's techno so it has a good beat isn't the best but for what it is 6/10

17. Evanescence-My Immortal great song great lyrics beautfiul voice 10/10

18. Finger Eleven-good song doesn't disappoint 8/10

19. Endo-Simple Lies such a good band that I bought two of their cds 10/10

20. 12 Stones-Let Go Another great band bought a cd of theirs as well check them out too.
9/10

5 out of 5 stars To this day, one of the best CDs I ever have ever bought.......2006-04-12

When I first got this album, I got it for just the first track, "Won't Back Down from Fuel". I won't lie, I wasn't all that into rock when I got this CD, I just got it for that one song. A year later I got into rock more, then listened to this CD again, and immediately fell in love with it. It has so many good tracks on it you would be surprised it was a soundtrack ("Bring Me To Life", "Fade In/Out" "The Mean Without Fear", "Hold On" are just a few). I'm a fan of Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Slipknot, and Disturbed, and this is still one of the best CDs i own today. I highly reccomend it if you're into Hard Rock/Alternative.

4 out of 5 stars Worth the investment.......2006-02-25

This has some great songs. I loved the movie and can close my eyes and see the scenes because the music was like a character in the film.

5 out of 5 stars Probably their best.......2004-01-24

For my money, the low-fi quality of "Daredevil" - displayed as well on "No One Rides For Free" and "In Search Of," their first and third albums, respectively - is what makes this album shine. There's something about the impossibly super-fuzzed, warm, heavy, gritty sound on this album that separates it from the heavier, ham-handed approach displayed on their later albums. Plus, the songs are just better on the earlier albums (pre-"Action is Go"). They sound too metal on the later stuff. The first three songs on this album are worth the cost of admission alone. Buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Fu Manchu at their best.......2004-01-06

I haven't been into Fu Manchu all that long, but this is the best stuff I've heard. Not to say that their other albums lack at all, but Daredevil is really solid from start to finish.

Im sure the band wasn't rolling in money at the time, but you would never guess because of the high quality sound. Daredevil is heavy enough for Electric Wizard fans, and has enough hooks for Kyuss and QOTSA fans. The guitar and bass are heavily distorted, drums are pounding, and vocals are sweet.

Seriously, this album should sell way more copies than it does. If you like Fu Manchu even the slightest bit, buy Daredevil.

3 out of 5 stars Somber And Interesting, Yet Somewhat Noisy.......2006-02-04

Quite frankly, I enjoy superhero scores when they sound like opera, like "Superman-The Movie", or when they sound urban, like the Spider-Man scores. Unfortunately, "Daredevil" is like "Batman Begins": interesting moments, but with electronic noise that sometimes bother.
On the plus side, Graeme Revell presents a very interesting main theme for the Marvel hero; since we're talking about a vigilante that looks for justice at night like Batman, it's quite fitting that the theme sounds dark with a little nobility in the mix. 'Young Matt's Father' actually presents the theme for Matt Murdock's interrupted innocence as he is left blind by a batch of radioactive waste; the theme is simple and the use of the piano adds a little delicacy. Matt's dark side is best represented on the track 'The Darkest Hour', where Daredevil's theme is played in a way that we start feeling his loneliness and questioning whether his motives are worth it or not. Then we have the loveliest part of this score: 'Elektra' begins with guitar, combined with strings, a female voice, and a little of synthesizers; it's definitely touching without being cheesy.
On the minus side, I really hate the techno sound of 'The Kingpin' -it's completely annoying. And like the score for "Batman Begins", there is the electronic noise that I dislike when listening to an album, especially in the tracks 'Bullseye', 'Hell's Kitchen' and 'Nachio's Assassination'.
Graeme Revell's "Daredevil" has some interesting moments and has some moments that make me long for the classical epic scores of the past. Now in an age when film music is filled with electronics, eastern styles, and wailing women, I can't help but wonder where the music I'm so fond of is going to in the 21st century.

4 out of 5 stars Dark but ultimately triumphant film score.......2005-02-21

I admit I'm not a big fan of Graeme Revell. I have perhaps 4 of his scores in my collection of 350. I collect super-hero scores and Daredevil was no different except that it was pretty good. It captured the essence of Daredevil in a dark score that ultimately triumphs. Revell's main theme is enjoyable, but actually, the Murdock theme that plays in the quiet moments is what really gets to the heart of a super hero. I rate Daredevil higher than many other scores because it is interesting and different from many other score.

4 out of 5 stars "Daredevil" is different and darker, but good........2004-05-21

I wasn't familiar at all with Revell's previous work before I saw "Daredevil". But I was familiar with the other superhero themes that came before: Elfman's "Batman" and "Spider-Man", Williams' "Superman", Kamen's "X-Men" et al. When I first heard the theme for DD, I got a similar feeling I had listening to Elfman's "Batman", except I noticed it was a little darker in terms of mood. The two tracks I like are "Matt becomes Daredevil" and "Elektra". "Matt becomes Daredevil" is basically, DD's theme only played on electric guitar, which I did not expect and thoroughly enjoyed. "Elektra" is what I would consider the "love theme" of the score. I thought it was a touching, yet heartbreaking theme. Overall, I would put "Daredevil" maybe about 7 on the Top 10 hero themes I like. Enjoy.

    3 out of 5 stars not bad.......2003-08-14

This is a score that gets better each time I listen to it. Initially, I was bummed out that yet another Marvel superhero had gotten a movie that had a theme-free score. That's not precisely true. Graeme Revell has written several themes, and the main Daredevil theme is actually rather good. Still, it's hard not to be a little disappointed that old Hornhead doesn't have a great theme a la Superman or Batman. So if that's what you're looking for in this album, you'd best save your money. If, on the other hand, you are willing to accept Revell's textures and moodiness, this is worth checking out.

    4 out of 5 stars A dark, moody score.......2003-05-28

"Daredevil," the original motion picture score by Graeme Revell, is an interesting addition to one of my favorite musical genres: the superhero film score. Overall, this is a dark and somber score. There is good use of a choir and also some interesting multilayered percussion. Although much of the score struck me as subdued, the track entitled "The Kingpin" is noteworthy for its frenzied energy. The tender "Elektra" is an interesting counterpoint to other parts of the score. Although not my favorite superhero score, "Daredevil" is definitely worth listening to.

I've been waiting for this CD for quite a while and when Pete finally
handed me my own copy, it went straight into my CD player and the listening experience began.
Petes approach to the guitar is simply amazing, and this collection of instrumentals really dives into the other side of Pete Anderson.
A side that's a bit different from those who know of his work with that Honky Tonk guy.
It's a quirky mix of all the music Pete loves and it's a great
demonstration of just how talented he is.
I never knew that Pete knew how to play so many different instruments,
this is some really fun listening and if you enjoy
Pete's guitar work, you'll be scratching your head saying
"How did he do that lick?"
Buy this and PLAY IT LOUD!!!

5 out of 5 stars Daredevil DEFINITELY Worth The Wait!.......2005-10-07

I heard about Pete Anderson's album Daredevil for a long while before it was released and it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. Once again, Pete has stamped another great album with his legendary and signature full-out, bluesy-rock guitar perfection. I can't say what track is my favourite, they're all great! I play this album often and just love it. Another outstanding album from Pete Anderson and the folks at (...)

5 out of 5 stars Pete Anderson, Guitar Guru and Multi-Instrumental.......2005-10-05

When I first got Daredevil, I listened to it and listened to it hard.

It was a long awaited musical adventure where Pete Anderson not only shows his guitar and song-writing talents, but his talents at playing a multitude of instruments including drums.

All of the songs are self-penned and it goes from bluesy and jazzy to chicken pickin' down home romps. I have not yet been able to pick a favorite from this master of guitar, but I can guarantee, it is definitely on my must have and must play list on a daily basis.

After buying this album, I have found the beauty again of solid intrumental albums. I'd rate it 10 stars.

3 out of 5 stars Highly creative (but, ouch, the drum machine is painful).......2005-07-26

Pete Anderson may not be a name that pops to the forefront when thinking about innovative guitar players, but he is quietly carving out a niche for himself. The highly creative "Daredevil" offers a sound somewhere between the worlds of Ben Tavera King and the Latin Playboys-not exactly fodder for the masses.

The arrangements shine here: sometimes minimal but layered with unexpected horns or keyboards that seem to slide under the guitar. The pause then refrain in Sweet Delta Sunrise, for example, shows the off-kilter approach that characterizes this set. Mr. Anderson's fretwork shows that the years spent as Dwight Yoakum's guitar player may have provided a comfortable living but not showcased all facets of his skills.

But there is one problem, at least for me, with "Daredevil." That is the drum machine: I cannot listen to more than four or five tracks before I start getting a pounding headache. The drums are too loud, call too much attention to themselves, and force me to take away a star in my rating.

    3 out of 5 stars Fillfilling a record contract?.......2005-07-01

This is basically a well done demo of nice arrangements of simple tunes. All that is missing is the tunes.

Uh, yeah, this stuff will get you goin'. Fuzzed out loud guitar riffs, Sabbath style, but no doom. This is So-Cal Desert bliss. Cars, speed, and... well... other stuff. It's almost all uptempo, a few pychedelic touches here and there, and way catchy, if you think that heavy earthmoving equipment can be catchy. And did I mention the killer drumming? The cool 'n sleazy fuzz guitar leads? Ah, man, just perfect.

There are two divisions in the Fu story, Mark i and 2. This is the best album of early, Mark 1 material. Just about every song is good; the band sounds fresh and excited. Their next album, In Search Of, marks the end of Fu Mark 1, as a couple guys split to form Nebula afterwards. In Search Of sounds a little down; you can tell that they stopped having fun together. Unlike this album, which is a blast nonstop! After the split, The Action is Go probably gets the nudge as the best, though King of the Road is really good, too. Maybe a little too much compression sometimes, though.

Daredevil and Action are the two best, IMHO, but this one has more lead guitar and that young, raw feel. Action is a little more polished, but has more moods and some different grooves. So there you have it. Buy this and play *really* loud!

            Product Description

The term legend is too often bandied about when talking about musical artists. While he might dispute that categorization, Pete Anderson is one of the rare musicians to which that term aptly applies. After more than 30 years in the music business and countless hit records as a producer, guitarist, and songwriter, Anderson has earned a place among many of the significant figures who have influenced popular music. With his third solo album, DAREDEVIL, Anderson demonstrates his unique talent for melding a variety of musical genres to create a series of beautifully-crafted instrumentals which, as a whole, come together to create an album of unsurpassed cinematic scope. This is music in 3-D!

DAREDEVIL is an appropriate title for the album; it represents risk-taking in the best use of the phrase. Unlike many respected guitarists who record solo efforts, this is not an album about guitar pyrotechnics just for the sake of impressing other musicians.

DAREDEVIL is really about the songs -- using the guitar as the chief instrument to express the musical vision. Rich in texture and range, the album sounds like the score to a Fellini movie from the fourth dimension. Each track takes the listener to new places. "New World Cakewalk" feels like a march down Bourbon Street after a number of high-octane hurricanes. "That Broken Heart Will Heal" is a beautiful love song with the guitar singing a melody for the angels. "Big Canyon/Little Bird" takes the listener on a rocking romp complete with cool jams on trumpet (Lee Thornberg) and fiddle (Donny Reed).

DAREDEVIL is the latest creative effort by a Grammy Award-winning artist/producer/businessman, who has blazed a number of musical trails, garnering both critical acclaim and sales success. As a producer, Anderson is responsible for recordings which have sold over 30 million units worldwide. His groundbreaking work with Dwight Yoakam helped ring in the 'new traditionalist' movement in country music - while crossing over to a wider audience in the rock, pop, and blues worlds. He has also been responsible for highly touted projects by such artists as Roy Orbison, k.d.lang, Flaco Jimenez, Buck Owens, Lucinda Williams, Jim Lauderdale, Rosie Flores, Michelle Shocked, the Meat Puppets, the Backsliders, the Lonesome Strangers and Thelonious Monster, among others. As a guitarist and solo artist, Anderson has been lauded as a world-class musician who has influenced a generation of axe-slingers through his melding of country, blues, honky-tonk, and jazz technique. With the formation of his own independent record label, Little Dog Records, over 10 years ago, Anderson proved to be prescient in recognizing the challenges the record business would eventually face by creating an environment where he could record truly talented artists without the financial pressures experienced by the majors.
