Product Description
The score for Brit-flick Gangster No.1 aims to recreate an atmosphere of 60s London. But with most of the track listing given over to old-timer John Dankworth's original jazz-lounging score. Mood music for dinner or cocktail parties, with a healthy dollop of added kitsch and bossa nova beats. Classics like Englebert Humperdink's 'Ten Guitars', 'Why' by Anthony Newly and the horny mayhem of The Sweet's archetypal 70s hit 'Blockbuster' rub shoulders comfortably with the swinging Hammond and brass of Bert's 'Apple Crumble' by The Quik or Edmundo Ros' conga courting 'Vaba-ba-boom'. Even though, the punk-rocking 'Kill' by Alberto y los Trios Paranoias jarrs as the last track on the album, it no doubt has its place. After all, this is a film that is fueled by the nervous tensions between characters.
