Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Not worth it.......2007-02-07

When I had chosen to purchase this CD, I was on a page that spoke about the great soundtrack, specifically the songs on it sung by Melissa Etheridge. I was very disappointed to find only the instrumental songs from the movie on the CD. Was not worth what I paid for it.

5 out of 5 stars Don't Overlook This One!.......2002-04-08

First I'd like to address two earlier reviews that complained of the two Melissa Etheridge songs not being on this soundtrack. Did you think to check Melissa's albums? The song "In Roxy's Eyes" is actually her song "I Will Never Be the Same" on the album "Yes I Am" (a FABULOUS album, by the way). Although "Don't Look At Me" has not been released on any of her albums, it can still be found.
That aside, this soundtrack is great! The movie itself is wonderful and the music helps to drive home the emotions in the film. Fun, interesting, quirky, lovable, strange and touching...definitely something not to be missed. I listen to this album often and urge you to give it a fair chance!

5 out of 5 stars MY FAVORITE SOUNDTRACK OF ALL-TIME -- NO HYPERBOLE.......2001-07-25

This score is wondrous. I have been a film score collector for more than twenty years -- over two thousand titles -- and this is the one I reach for most often. Newman's score is magical -- it creates a fairy-tale-like world which transports you somewhere serene, reflective, moody and somewhat sad. I am a writer who uses music to conjure The Muse -- and the mesmerizing main theme of WHRC always does the trick, kind of like a time-machine. It takes me back to childhood, back to innocence, back to memories of adolescent joy, heartbreak, regret and wonder. I am not a New Age hoodoo guy -- just a screenwriter who needs to go other places in his mind. Thank you Thomas Newman, for the magic. And The Muse thanks you.

3 out of 5 stars Don't you read the track listing?.......2001-07-22

Of course that song wouldn't be on it, because this is the SCORE. It says it on the label. If not there, it says it on the track listing. It's a Thomas Newman score. That being said, it's definitly not the best of his works, but it's not bad if you like his stuff. Some early electronic work that's not bad, but it takes a while to listen to it to like it. You may grow tired with it. Don't know where to find that song, though. Good luck finding it.

1 out of 5 stars Ripoff.......2000-08-19

This album is [awful]. There are two great songs by Melissa Etheridge in the movie, including the title song "In Roxy's Eyes", and neither song is on the soundtrack. This type of marketing should be illegal. I had to give the record 1 star to enter this review. In the future, Amazon should offer the option of 0 stars for CD's like this.
