When a movie's main selling point is that it's really big and really loud, the soundtrack's got to keep up. But oddly, this CD falls short--tellingly, the first single is a power ballad by the Goo Goo Dolls, "Before It's Too Late," featuring the kind of emoting previously heard in Spider-Man's "Hero." The album's producers have mostly focused on arena guy rock circa 2007, with songs pulled from new or recent albums by the likes of Linkin Park or Taking Back Sunday. There should have been more tracks like the Smashing Pumpkins' rumbling juggernaut, "Doomsday Clock," Disturbed's compact "This Moment" or the Used's riff-a-rama "Pretty Handsome Awkward." Slightly surprising is the absence of electronics and hip-hop, the only exception (sort of) being Styles of Beyond's "Second to None," which sounds like the Beastie Boys on EPO, and Julien-K's "Technical Difficulties." While the big names are packed in the first two thirds of the CD, the last third serves as a showcase for upcoming bands (whose songs aren't in the movie) that sound exactly like their elders--glossy, huge, based on big guitar riffs. In the end, all this aggro energy feels more cosmetic and corporate than authentic. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Save your money and buy the 2 or 3 decent songs on iTunes...

For there to have been so much amazing orchestral music in the film, the CD soundtrack left out too much and included too many songs not featured in the film.

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother........2007-07-11

I can't say i hate the soundtrack, but I can say its not worth the money. The only three songs of worthiness are:
What Ive Done
Pretty Handsome Awkward
Before its To Late

Just go on Limewire and search those and your set. Save your money for the Score Soundtrack. I don't know when it will be released but most scores come out 2 weeks to a month after Theater release so keep an eye out for it towards the end of July, but I could be wrong. I heard the score is still being worked on for the soundtrack so don't quote me on the release.

4 out of 5 stars Wow..........2007-07-11

It seems quite a few people have alot of difficulty telling the difference between a Soundtrack and a Score. If you really need to tell the difference, try...oh I don't know... FLIPPING THE DAMN CASE OVER AND LOOKING AT THE BACK!!! Nobody has any excuse for "oops" buying on a soundtrack. If your looking for the Score and you flip the case over and see songs by Linkin Park and Smashing Pumpkins, instead of say, Hans Zimmer, chances are you have the wrong one. If your buying online, anywhere you buy a cd, they ALWAYS have a track listing. People are just dumb.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good.......2007-07-10

I liked this soundtrack. I thught that it was totally worth the $10 I paid for it. I wish the "Not on soundtrack" songs were actually in the movie cause I thought they were good. The only song that I really skip over is the Smashing Pumpkins song. Don't buy this cd if you want to hear the songs from the movie, buy this cd if you like the bands on here (which I do).

1 out of 5 stars In Defense to Mute Math's version..........2007-07-10

Most consumers by now should be going online or reading the back of the freakin cd to check if the Soundtrack includes the score. If you don't do that, YOU'RE JUST A BAD CONSUMER, I'm sorry.

Usually, films nowadays have two versions: the score version (that most of us like), and the Money making, "Music inspired from the movie..." verison. I would have to say, that they could've been smarter with the choice of titles.

What happened to all the songs that Bumble Bee used? That was a great, clever moment in the movie, and those songs would've been classic if it was included. I can see numerous consumers coming in to buy the soundtrack just for those songs...but then they weren't smart enough to include it. ALSO The Goo Goo Dolls are just trying to re-capture their success with "Iris" from the City of Angels OST. They should just stop...it was good then, just stop. The piano intro for the Linkin park song kinda worked, but then it hit distortion. I HATE IT WHEN THEY USE TOP 40 songs in films...it's such an abuse of product placement. What could've worked was putting the Mutemath Transformer's Theme after Optimus Prime's speech in the beginning of the film...that would've been ok. That Mutemath cover was the ONLY reason why i gave this album 1 star: jeez, i didn't even buy it this album....cuz most of these songs are on the respective artists' albums already.

Someone here mentioned the Black Lab (look for it on youtube) Transformers Theme version and said it was better than mutemath's. WRONG. Well..unless you wanna go all metal soundtrack like all the horror movies these days. Metal just doesn't fit it...the autobots vs. decepticons scenes..maybe...but i even think the score was really good...MAYBE A lil' ARMAGEDDON-Like...but hey, who was the director? Yep. The Mute Math version was very spacey and was perfect for the feel of the movie and would blend well with the movie's feel.

I do hope they release the official score...it was good.

5 out of 5 stars Irresistable if you are a child of the 80's.......2007-07-12

I dare any fan of action cartoons from the 80's to not get chills running up and down their spine as they hear the opening bars of 'The Touch' by Stan Bush. This would have to be one of my favourite hard rock songs of all time and one that can instantly lift my mood no matter what.
Being more a fan of metal the tracks 'Instruments of Destruction' by NRG and 'Nothin's Gonna Stand in Our Way' by Spectre General are also stand out and it is hard not to be a fan of Kal Swan's soaring vocals on the Transformers Theme which is surely one of the best vocal tracks this guy has ever laid down.
Woven throughout these pumping rock tracks is the work of Vinnie DiCola, which is also able to transport you to various parts of the movie instantly with his talented compositions. I still get a bit misty eyed when I hear 'The Death Of Optimus Prime'.
Sheerly in terms of its nostalgic value this would have to be my favourite movie soundtrack of all time, without a doubt.

5 out of 5 stars Forget the cheesy hair-rock, we get more VINCE!.......2007-07-08

Vince DiCola. What a mastermind in music. I'm a fan of rock music but the hair-ballads on here have lost their touch over time. However, Vince's incredible progressive sythesized soundtrack has stood the test of time with complete grace and style. As if the original soundtrack didn't get you going with the likes of Autobots vs. Decepticon battle music, Death of Optimus Prime, and the theme itself, 4 incredible new tracks by DiCola will have you whoop-hollering with joy.. Though the 4 tracks aren't "new", it's a real head-scratcher that none of these fabulous tracks were released until now. Whats even better is that Vince has his own version of the Transformers Theme on here, and it is very tight and melodic. This is by far the "perfect" Original Transformers Movie Soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars This IS the original Soundtrack.......2007-07-08

The original soundtrack from the ORIGINAL 80's animated movie. Please do not confuse this awesome soundtrack with the "eh" soundtrack from the new live-action film. This soundtrack is the epitome of 80's cartoons and rock fusing together to create that unique experience that us kids of the 80's had. The new movie is good and doesn't disappoint even die hard fans I know of, but this soundtrack (in comparison to the new soundtrack with the new theme song) from the original feature length film is really what it was all about. Hope all those who have not experienced it before can do so and enjoy themselves while they grab a bit of that 80's action cartoon nostalgia!

1 out of 5 stars Not the soundtrack.......2007-07-07

This is a collection of hard rock stuff that was played briefly while the movie ran. This is NOT the soundtrack with all the dynamic sound and pulse raising music. I was so looking forward to getting this and driving the freeways. What a disapointment, don't buy this if your looking for the theme music. I've already thrown mine away.

5 out of 5 stars Transformers Rock.......2007-06-28

This is a great CD with melodic rock songs and a cool score and the bonus tracks are great. You must get this if your a transfomer fan and a fan of 80's rock/metal and synthesized scores.

The double-disc soundtrack to the blockbuster Saturday Night Fever (available on a single CD) marks both the zenith and the nadir of disco. It was such a popular sensation that it catapulted the music to stratospheric levels of mainstream popularity, and the album was the bestselling movie soundtrack of all time (until The Bodyguard, and then Titanic). But "Disco Fever" became so hot, it could only flame out just as quickly (along with the careers of the Bee Gees). With this record, disco became a phenomenon and a fad. The Bee Gees' contributions are the strongest, especially the once-ubiquitous "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever," and they still hold up. Then there's Walter Murphy's "A Fifth of Beethoven," a trivial piece of pop ephemera that may have set new standards for ephemeral triviality. How often will you listen to this record--and how much will you play when you do? There's no telling--but it remains a classic piece of pop history, and when you're in the mood it's a good thing to have around. --Jim Emerson

5 out of 5 stars Soundtrack of an Era Puts an End to Hairy Music.......2007-03-09

Ironically, even though The Bee Gees had massive pelts and medals on their chests, their music on the soundtrack was a major breakthrough for the smooth or "hairless" sound. Prior to Saturday Night Fever, "hairy music" (unkempt, natural, course texture) from acts like BTO, Peter Frampton, and Fleetwood Mac dominated the charts. The hippy ethos of the 1960's had trickled into the mid-seventies, and ruled the top 40 like a shaggy tyrant. And it seemed like nothing could be done to stop it. (People forget that Fever hit the streets less than ten years after the play Hair opened. A seeming coup de grace for the hippies, Hair left good clean-shorn Americans wondering if this country would ever be normal again).

And then the Bee-Gees led a concept album (all disco!) named Saturday Night Fever, which "waxed" the hairy music sound right off the radio! Everyone remembers where they were the first time they heard a Fever song! It was "Staying Alive", April 7th, 1977. I was age 11. At 12:40pm, I was playing basketball at the park and admiring the girls' Ditto jeans. One girl had a portable am radio she set courtside. When Steve Martin's "King Tut" ended, "Staying Alive" came on!! All the 6th graders knew it: The dirty hippy era was over!!!

Epilogue: After Fever was released, a generation of school kids walked with a jaunty stride and blowdried their hair.... The national disco movement that Fever launched was soon joined by - you guessed it - hippies. A surprising number of hippies just washed their hair, changed into white suits, and stepped into the disco. Some people have argued that these "former" hippies introduced drugs and hedonism into the once pristine disco environment. Others disagreed, citing the lack of "lazy, flowery drugs" in discos.... In New York City, DJ's started talking over disco, telling jaded New Yorkers to have fun and throw their hands in the air. Thus, "rap" was born, and African-Americans reclaimed the term "rap" from hippies.... People still listen to Fever, like an aural Life magazine that chronicles a pivotal time in our great nation's history.... Americans now spend billions each year on hair management products. And Americans are now the least hairy people in world history.... Today, disco thrives. As a great poet once said, "Disco by any other name still has the same beats and high-sheen production values"....

For better or worse, Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel has done for stage musicals what Spielberg's Jaws did for fish stories, with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been paradoxically focused in scope, yet beefed up dynamically via the brawny presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This single disc version showcases all of Phantom's key songs (a deluxe, double-disc edition is also available), with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine. Original show orchestrator David Cullen has fashioned compelling new contemporary arrangements to frame Webber's songs -- which now conclude with the lilting, upbeat new ballad he wrote for the film, "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Perfect music!.......2007-06-11

The Phantom of the Opera is my favorie musical of all time, simply put. The movie is absolutely incredible, so I just had to have the soundtrack. Though this one-disc version leaves out many excellent pieces, it still has the bulk of the music.
First of all, let me just say that Emmy Rossum (Christine) sounds MUCH more elegant and true than Sarah Brightman (who overpronounces to the point of absurdity) in the classic London Cast recording of the musical.
Second of all, Gerard Butler may not be as operatic as Michael Crawford, but he is a much better actor, and the simple sound of his voice IS the Phantom. "Music of the Night" is so beautiful when he sings it, unlike Michael Crawford's mockery of the piece as he tries to sing those bass notes and just ends up mushing it all together into a horrible, overpronounced, over-legato MESS!
Now, Patrick Wilson! He has such a wonderful voice it just makes me faint! Wow! He is, I swear, the greatest tenor alive. Anyone who criticizes his beautiful performance of Raoul is simply insane.
This soundtrack has some utterly perfect music, such as
1. Gerard's incredible performance of "Music of the Night." He sings so beautifully at the end with that last "night" that one can scarcely believe it.
2. "Down Once More," the final scene of the movie can produce tears even without images on a screen. Hearing the three characters' voices together is sheer perfection!
3. "All I Ask of You" has wonderful emotion on all fronts, and Rossum and Wilson blend together into pure love. Bravo! Brava! Bravi!
4. "All I Ask of You (Reprise)"... It is so truly heartbreaking that I can never stop crying. "You will curse the day you did not do... all that the Phantom asked of you!" It has such a blend of emotion that one can only sit and listen, in bliss and awe.
This soundtrack, though missing some songs (get the two-disc set if you want them all), is basically perfect. I will love this music and these wonderful singers forever.

Too many soundtracks feel interchangeable, and rare are the composers who really capture a movie's core. But Javier Navarrete has succeeded in his Oscar-nominated score for Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, a dark fantasy set in 1944 Spain. The first cue, "Long, Long Time Ago," sets the melancholy tone with piano and voice; the spectral piano pops up several more times, and the theme is more fully developed in "Mercedes Lullaby." But it's the second track, the aptly titled "The Labyrinth," that really gives the listener insight into the movie's tenebrous universe. While Navarrete can certainly do short, intimate pieces dotted with telling arrangements (like the few trumpet notes adding a subtle Spanish flavor to "Rose, Dragon"), he excels on the longer tracks, such as "Not Human," which goes through a succession of moods, each one increasingly scary, without ever going overboard into cheap, demonstrative effects. Navarrete has already had a long career as a film scorer in Spain, and this won't be the last American audiences hear from him. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Wow.....I am speechless.......2007-07-06

I hardly can find the words to describe this music. Beautiful. Haunting and absolutely stirring. That is just the tip of the iceberg. I found the film itself, in it's own way, a great film but the music is what gave the film its ability to communicate with the viewer. My only regret is that the CD is not necessarily a CD to take a nap too. There are a few tracks that seem to keep me awake, making them great in their own way. But the music of Pan's Labrynth is some of the best music ever written for a film. Full of beautiful lullabies, dark, haunting brass and strings, and majestic, sweeping and imagination-driving moments. A must own CD. An ABSOLUTE must.

5 out of 5 stars Intricate Simplicity.......2007-06-12

The movie was great, even though it was in Spanish the soundtrack pulled everything together for me. The music is simplistic in its melodies yet conveys deep emotions. I love to listen to it to relax or just for something different. I think it is one of the best scores I have ever heard.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Melodious.......2007-06-09

Many use the word "haunting" to describe the music on this CD, and that is certainly true. It compliments the movie wonderfully and leaves quite the impression. I found my emotions on a rollercoaster, from soothed and comforted to pensive to apprehensive, as each composition played through. I thought it all masterfully composed and unlike anything I've heard. I give it a solid recommendation.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful soundtrack for a beautiful movie.......2007-05-23

This music is great, I listen to it to get to sleep and I listen to it when I want to wake up. I love the fantastical and lullaby-like songs within it but also those that stir the blood. Although one fault I have found is that the same lullaby sound, such as in track #1 tends to repeat in other tracks, so unless you really like the tune be prepared for that. Otherwise, it is just something different to listen to when you don't feel like blasting your brain out with something wordy or too over dramatic.

4 out of 5 stars moving score for a moving film.......2007-05-14

This score masterfully evokes the feeling of the fantasy world of the movie. The touching themes effectively convey the emotions of the characters and provide an enjoyable listen from beginning to end.

It's not that surprising that Rent, a successful musical with a strong youth following, would have transferred from the New York stage to film. What is remarkable is that the material has aged very well and that most of the original cast have made the trip to the silver screen. This is no small feat since nearly ten years have elapsed since the show's Off-Broadway debut and the film's release. When it opened in 1996, Jonathan Larson's rock musical based on neobohemian life in the gritty East Village felt a bit hackneyed at times; now, Rent feels more like a Broadway fantasy about life on the edge, and that new element actually works in the show's favor. The two cast additions--Rosario Dawson (replacing Daphne Rubin-Vega as Mimi) and Tracie Thomas (replacing Fredi Walker as Joanne)--act well and with emotion, but aren't quite powerful enough. They are eclipsed by vets such as Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, and Taye Diggs, who of course had the chance to perfect their roles on stage and can also be heard on the original cast recording. It's a pleasure to hear these stalwarts New York performers strut their stuff again. This soundtrack will please the show's fans, and probably attract new ones. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Album Description

One of the longest-running shows (since 1996) in the history of Broadway, and one of its most beloved, RENT was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Based on Puccini's classic opera "La Boheme," Jonathan Larson's revolutionary rock opera tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic in New York's gritty East Village. Now the powerful musical marks its 10th year on stage by coming to the big screen, accompanied by RENT The Motion Picture Soundtrack, produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, Alanis Morissette).

5 out of 5 stars Awesome buy.......2007-07-13

You can practically feel the scenes come to life through the sound track! Its that good. Any true rent head worth a salt to his or her name would have this in their collection. It is too good to pass up!

5 out of 5 stars Love this Musical!!.......2007-06-20

I absolutely loved this in the movie form and would love to see the live show. But since that will be a while in coming; getting the soundtrack is the next best thing. These people can SING! This way I can hear the songs anywhere at anytime; not just watching the movie.

5 out of 5 stars great soundtrack.......2007-04-26

I have own this soundtrack pretty much since it came out...

I have never been that big on musicals, but when the movie first came out my friend dragged me to the movies with him to see the movie, and right away I fell in love with it...and for the next week I had the songs stuck in my head, they just wouldn't go away...they haunted me in my sleep, but in a good way...I fall in love with all the music, so i had to get this soundtrack so I would be able to listen to these wonderful songs all the time, especially till the movie came out onto dvd, which i also own and love to death. The songs are so addictive...I am actually listening to the soundtrack as I'm writing this review, I can't pick out one song that is my favorite, I love all of them. If i had to choice "Will I" or "Without You". "Will I" is such a touching song on its own, but when its patterned with the movie it hit me hard, great song, it brings tears to my eyes when i listen it. And the same goes with "Without You" its just a very touching song and it connects with my life. Overall one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.

5 out of 5 stars First Time a Film has been as Good as the Original Musical.......2007-02-23

I will keep this short, because " M J Heilbron Jr. 'Dr. Mo' " said it perfectly.

I have never seen a movie that has been able to capture everything a musical did.

The actors were perfectly selected for the cast. The voices amazing and the acting flawless. Who knew Taye Diggs could act and sing.

Buy this CD. You will love it every bit as much as you loved the original Broadway CD... if not more.

5 out of 5 stars The music will captivate you.......2007-02-21

Even though I have the CD, whenever I'm flipping channels and I come across the movie "Rent", no matter how many times I've seen it and regardless of what point the movie is at, it is like I am mesmerized, and I know from experience that I am going nowhere until the movie is over. My husband feels the same way and we've both discussed why this is. The answer is the music. It actually pulls us both along through the movie. Just as one great song ends, another begins, and we can't pull ourselves away until the movie - and thus the music - ends. There actually isn't a tedious, boring, or even mediocre piece in the whole musical. Every song has a style different from all of the others and each is quite powerful. The music is not the meat on the bones in this movie version of the Broadway musical, it is actually the very bones under the meat. My favorite is "I'll Cover You". Remarkably, this song works both as an upbeat love song for Angel and Collins and also as a funeral dirge. It is very amazing that Jonathan Larson, on his first outing, could come up with even one of these amazing songs, much less all of them. It makes me sad not only for the loss of Jonathan Larson the human being, but the loss of such an amazing artist. I highly recommend this CD. I think you'll find yourself hooked on these unique and powerful tunes.

The first five tracks on the soundtrack to this Sandra Bullock/Keanu Reeves romantic drama are wonderfully wistful songs. The first, Paul McCartney's "This Never Happened Before" from his 2005 album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, sets the tone. The low-key mood is then picked up by new romantic souls like the Clientele (the languidly forlorn "(I Can't Seem to) Make You Mine") and Eels (the fiddle-accented ballad "Ant Farm"), and classic songwriters Nick Drake (with 1969's "Time Has Told Me") and Carole King (1971's "It's Too Late"). The rest of the album is made up of Rachel Portman's intimately romantic score. Portman makes good use of melody lines driven sometimes by a piano ("Mailbox") and sometimes an acoustic guitar ("Tell Me More"), while also ensuring that the orchestra never threatens to overwhelm them. And when strings dominate, they never feel rote ("Sunsets"). The music isn't in-your-face sad but tinged with a sense of very adult melancholy. Whoever thought that one day we'd say that of something attached to a Keanu Reeves movie? --Elisabeth Vincentelli

4 out of 5 stars Review of The Lake House.......2007-03-07

I'm really enjoying this CD. It does indeed reflect the ambience of the movie, with some great songs. Would prefer if it had a few more vocalised tracks, however, the ones that are there are great, especially Carole King's It's Too Late. The songs without lyrics are also really nice.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Movie.......2007-02-20

The movie is pretty creative in the sense that two people living in two different years come at the end happily ever after.

    4 out of 5 stars Nice music.......2007-02-06

I love the Paul McCartney song that they played during the "dance" scene. The rest of the cd is background music. I would have like more lyrics, but it is still a soothing soundtrack all in all.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful way to relive the movie!.......2007-01-17

This is a short review to say just how much I'm enjoying the motion picture soundtrack to The Lake House. Though I now seem to be watching the DVD of The Lake House at least once every week, I'm listening to the musical soundtrack everyday. I wish Rosemary Clooney's song, There Will Never Be Another You, was on the CD, as well as the instrumental music that was played when Alex plants the tree in from of Kate's future apartment complex in Chicago. Still, this is a great CD with music that brings back the most wonderful memories of the movie. In my opinion, this is what movie music is supposed to do. A really good soundtrack has to be able to stand on its own, and The Lake House does with flying colors. If you enjoyed the film, then you'll love having the CD to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars Wine and roses to Lakehouse soundrtack.......2007-01-12

Marvelous climate, wonderful to play on a romantic dinner or driving date. Will help gain the heart (and much more!) of your sweetheart. And a nice reminder of the movie.

Not to be confused with the collection Songs Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia, this album is Harry Gregson-Williams's instrumental score for the movie. Marking the composer's third collaboration with director Andrew Adamson (after both Shrek flicks), this score also is one of the more mature offerings from Gregson-Williams, best known for his work on family films. The music is lush and assured, if a bit predictable. Indeed, it fits squarely in the current style popular for big epics--even using (on a few tracks) the vocals of Lisbeth Scott, which fall halfway between those of Enya and the Cocteau Twins' Liz Fraser (both of whom, uncoincidentally, appeared on the Lords of the Rings soundtracks). The CD concludes with four songs, with Gregson-Williams cowriting Scott's "Where." On "Can't Take It In," Imogen Heap's vocal acrobatics eerily recall those of the Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan, while Alanis Morissette's "Wunderkind" is an inspirational, almost girl-powerish track written from the point of view of the movie's Lucy. But the best of these songs is "Winter Light" by Tim Finn, four minutes of understated, piano-driven melancholia. Look for it tucked near the very end of the CD. Note that the soundtrack comes also as a two-CD special edition . The second disc is a DVD that includes galleries of film stills and concept art, a featurette about the recordings of the score and a making-of featurette. There's also a segment in which the (mostly) Christian bands involved in the Songs Inspired by... album talk about their involvement in that project. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

This movie was a big success at our home. We saw it at the local theaters and decided to buy it upon release. We also have purchased other copies to give to friends.

We look forward to the future movies of the other 5 books.

    Happy in Springfield (IL)

5 out of 5 stars Depth of quality.......2007-05-20

I enjoyed the soundtrack immensely, except for the last three songs which have vocals. This is much better than the movie. I just wish they would list the companies would list the musician's that performed the music.

    5 out of 5 stars Brilliant minds.......2007-03-14

This is one of the best soundtrack I've ever listened to.From the serene "Lucy Meets Mr.Tumnus"to the soaring theme found in many of the tracks,Harry-Greggson Williams does a masterful job at creating a magical Narnia.I listened to this nonstop when I first got it,and I still listen to it more than any other soundtrack.
The four(three really, because Winter Light is utterly detestable)songs at the end are reason enough to buy this CD."I Can't Take It In" is brilliant with Imogen Heap's incredible talent."Wunderkind" is so artful and expertly written,it has become one of my favorite songs.
So this soundtrack meets all the requirements for a great soundtrack-great theme, amazing creativity, and stellar songs.

4 out of 5 stars Piano, Vocal and Guitar Music from Narnia.......2007-03-10

This book has eight of the songs from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Some of the songs, such as Evacuating London and Father Christmas, include some fairly advanced musical notation. Evacuating London, Lucy Meets Mr. Tumnus, A Narnia Lullaby and Father Christmas do not include guitar notation. However, this is authentic Narnia music, as composed by Harry Gregson-Williams. The first eight pages consist of colored pictures from the movie. The only thing that would make this music book even better would be inclusion of The Battle, which we are still looking for.

I purchased this CD to download onto an MP3 player so I can listen to it while I run. I haven't been able to get it away from my kids long enough to use it yet. Great music from great Rocky movies! We all love it.

5 out of 5 stars Really Under Rated.......2007-07-03

Rocky has one of the most under rated soundtracks in history. It's just as good as SAturday Night Fever, but unlike that, doesn't get caught up in its own pretentiousness. Eye of the Tiger gets things going, an awesdome 80s track that is much more straight heavy metal. Then the next several tracks are also by Survivor, as this makdes up about half the whole disc, taken from Rocky 4. Hearts on Fire remains very under rated, Living in America only gets bett each time, The Burning Heart remains emotional. The rest of the album is really hit or miss. War I even under rate, only because it pales in comparison to even Hearts on Fire. The real show stopper here though is Gonna Fly Now, taken from the first Rocky flick, a timeless masterpiece that is a mix of classical, high school band geek and disco with some heavy metal solo thrown in for good measure. A classic album I love that some people just don't care for.

3 out of 5 stars buy it with the new one and have really the best.......2007-02-06

I you wish have the rocky movies soudtracks, get the last one (from Roky Balboa) This just has 10 songs and the new one has the almost the best, but if you get this and the new you will have all better song ( still mising mesurement of men from rocky V)

Get two disc an save a lot of money get it 5 disc

2 out of 5 stars Rocky IV Music with Some Imitation Bill Conti Music.......2007-01-07

While this "Anthology" of Rocky movie music is mostly satisfying, it falls short of capturing the real heart and soul of what makes Rocky movie music so compelling and distinctive. Presented here are the best vocal tracks from Rocky III and IV, which are worthy additions to any music collection. Also included are two Bill Conti imitation tracks of "Gonna Fly Now", both I might add, clearly inferior to the original.

I bought this album thinking I could get the best of the Rocky music without having to buy all the originals. What I found is that the originals are what makes makes Rocky movie music so distinctive. Rather than purchase this album, I'd buy the original Rocky IV and the original Rocky soundtrack; there is more music, and it is all "real" Rocky music. Another option is to purchase the latest Rocky Anthology, "Rocky Balboa".

    Jim "Konedog" Koenig

4 out of 5 stars It Stirs You to Never Give Up, No Matter What Age........2007-01-05

My first encounter with Rocky was the new movie, Rocky Balboa, and the music was marvelous. It kept one's interest in what was happening on the screen. The theme from his other movies was used during the computer fight which led up to the actual fight in Las Vegas.

Now, I understand why Michael Pare talked like Rocky in 'The Philadelphia Experiment,' as they were both supposed to be from Philadelphia. That was one of my favorite movies, and this new one about Rocky will be another one.
