Customer Reviews:
Bill Conti Karate Kid collection released.......2007-03-31
I'm such a fan of the Karate Kid films -- at least the first two -- that I'll take anything I can get. This is a great set that reminds me of the film, but it's missing Bill Conti's music. However, Varese Sarabande has just released (March '07) a 4-CD set containing Bill Conti's score to ALL FOUR Karate Kid movies. It's a limited press run of 2000 copies, available only on their website. It's fantastic. Now all I want is a CD of the Karate Kid Part II soundtrack that I had on cassette, containing Dennis DeYoung, New Edition, Carly Simon, et al. -- that would make me deleriously happy.
Not worth it........2007-02-13
The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is "Moment of Truth" by Survivor. It's a song that bears repeated listening, unlike the others, which are throwaways. You can download "Moment of Truth" on iTunes or just about any music download site, so I wouldn't even bother getting this.
It's a shame that Bill Conti wouldn't release his orchestral music, with the Pan Flute and string-sounding instruments, in a wide release. That's the heart and soul of the film, in my opinion. I checked on the Varese Sarabande website, and a limited edition of the Bill Conti score for all 4 movies in one 4-disc set is indeed available; exclusively through them, of course. There's a limited supply, and the sets are about $45 each. I don't know why they couldn't have the soundtrack for each movie available separately, and why they had to make it a limited supply. Anyway, if you want the scores for just the first 2 movies (minus a couple of the tracks on the "official" releases), for much cheaper, just copy and past the following into Google; you'll come across some sites that have it, (legally as far as I know): Karate Kid Score "Bill Conti" MP3. I unfortunately can't post the URL per the Amazon review guidelines.
Missing Zamfir Music.......2006-06-15
This would have been the only reason I would have bought it, but it's missing from the soundtrack. Luckily I found this track on the Kill Bill Vol 1 album.
Songs aren't too bad..........2006-03-25
The songs on this are okay. It was really fun to hear the music from an awesome 80's movie!
I bought this soundtrack for just one song..........2005-12-21
What's the 4-1-1?
If you were just a kid in 1984, chances are you loved this movie. It was your typical `fish out of water' story. Young Daniel (Ralph Macchio) moves to a new neighborhood and gets picked on by the high school bullies. At the same time he's fallen for the most popular girl in school (Elizabeth Shue), who just happens to be connected to the main bully Johnny that keeps kicking the crap out of Daniel. All the bullies belong to the local karate studio the Cobra Kai's. They train for `no mercy' and that's just what they give to Daniel. Eventually his landlord Mr. Miyagi takes him under his wing.
Sure, the first thing you start to think is, he's clearly going to teach him karate so he can fight back. I mean he is from Okinawa and all. Nope, Mr. Miyagi makes Daniel wax his car, sand his deck, paint his house, and paint his fence. However, there's a plot twist. All these hard labor tasks are actually karate blocks. Once that is discovered (and all of Mr. Miyagi's house chores are completed) Daniel begins training for the big karate tournament. Ironically enough he makes it to the finals to face Johnny. Just when you think he's down and out, Daniel breaks out the secret `crane technique' to win the match, get the girl, and earn Johnny's respect.
As for the soundtrack, I'm not sure that The Flirts and Jan & Dean were relevant at the time, but their song "Bop Bop (on the Beach) made it to the soundtrack. It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but this probably played during the beach party scene. Why they included this instead of "Cruel Summer", I'll never know. What's an overcoming the odds movie without a song by Survivor? The Moment of Truth is more keyboard oriented than their past guitar heavy anthems. The song builds to an over-the-top chorus. "No Shelter" by Broken Edge adds a little new wave sound to things with its muted riffs and driving keys.
"Young Hearts" by Commuter is a catchy power-pop love theme. You know, the kind of song that plays in the background of a montage where the guy and girl are shown doing things together. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Gang of Four is a punk band. 1984 must have been the year they sold out because "Desire" is more of a pop song. I guess their could be another Gang of Four. Finally, the big tournament anthem "You're the Best" by Joe `Bean' Eposito rounds out the soundtrack. I love the songs energy and emotion, but damn it's short.
The Verdict
I bought this soundtrack for just one song ("You're the Best"), hoping that the other songs would be just as good. I was wrong. There were one or two that I liked, but the rest were just crap. I didn't even recall most of them from the movie.
Did You Know?
The name `The Karate Kid' was actually a character in a D.C. Comic book series. Special permission was given by D.C. for the term to be used. Ralph Macchio passed on the role of Marty McFly in Back to the Future.

Album Description
Out of print in the U.S.! Bob Dylan's mostly instrumental soundtrack to the surreal Western from director Sam Peckinpah. Of the few vocal tracks on the album, the stunning now-classic (and often covered) 'Knocking On Heaven's Door' made it's debut on this release. 10 tracks. Sony.

Still one of my fav Dylan CDs.......2006-09-18
I had this on LP when I was a kid in the 70s.
Hearing it on CD makes it even better.
Acoustic ballads, blue grass and some great Dylan lyrics
A must get
One of Dylan's Best..........2005-11-12
Sam Peckinpah's effort to mythologize passing of The Old West by stylized retelling of the legend of sometime Sheriff, sometimes Range rider compadre to gunslinger,Billy the Kid is decidely mixed bag. The LINCOLN COUNTY war oligarchy which won was no better than the Young guns'backed cabal that lost. Deconstructed tall tales which have emerged paint the battle in terms of Greed;violence and "manifest destiny" that have little to do with Freedom and much with Power.Nonetheless,DYLAN'S scoring of GARRETT & BILLY succeeds as well...if not better...than Aaron Copland's classic.
The Soundtrack is an heroic dirge. With exception of the get-down, hoe down"Turkey Chase",Dylan has composed a multi-textured musical poem whose lyrical simplicity deceptively belies its sophisticated hymn-like comprise. 12 Strings;banjos;bongos;blues'harps and whining fiddles are masterfully arranged/layered to evoke tragic loss: "THE LONG BLACK CLOUD COMING DOWN" that Peckinpah's film fails to convincingly imagine. Bob Dylan has long been justly acclaimed America's master lyricist and modern music's peerless POET. In SMILE, Brian Wilson was able to celebrate our nation's expansion from "sea to shining sea." In Dylan's vastly under rated work,an unacknowledged masterwork, the TRAGIC...under bloody rocks and Tombstones...price is recalled when "knockin'on heaven's heights of glory"is sometimes deadly,"KNOCKIN'on HEAVEN(or Hell)'s DOOR."
Outlaw Bob to the Max.......2005-05-07
This is the soundtrack to a terrific movie, Sam Peckinpah's last western. The film starred Kris Kristoferson, Jason Robards, James Coburn, Rita Coolidge, Slim Pickens, Jack Elam and Bob Dylan, who in my opinion as the outlaw Alias stole the show. There are only three vocals on this LP, but they are good ones, though you can get "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" on about a zillion compilation albums done over the years. The other two vocals are different versions of the outlaw narrative, "Billy", a super cowboy song that ya just gotta love. The instrumental stuff isn't bad either, but I have to say I took the two versions of "Billy" and put `em with "Blood on the Tracks" on my iPod.

A Contrarian's View of Dylan.......2004-11-07
Most people see Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid as nothing more than a really long super-maxi-single for "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" with several unnecessary re-mixes of the B-Side, "Billy". While it's hard to argue that there are any other songs on this album (or any other album by Dylan or not) as good as "Knockin'", if you're only interested in Bob for his words you're going to miss a whole lot here. It is easily Bob's most instrumental heavy album (and since it's really a soundtrack, that's too be expected). Most people can't even really tell these songlets apart. Which means they miss all the fun goofy humor in the banjo-laden "Turkey Chase" (my second favorite song on the album). And of the songs that do have words, you get three different vocal versions of "Billy" (numbered 1, 4 and 7 for some reason) as well as another instrumental. Sure, all three offer up pretty close to identical lyrics - all which are little more than dumbed-down Cliff's Notes versions of the plot of the movie. Musically they do each convey a subtly different mood. Okay, "Billy" is not a particularly great song, but despite its reputation as an all-time classic, "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" actually is. And regardless of Eric Clapton or Axl Rose's attempts to steal this song, the Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid version remains the definitive one. Sure, this album is a lost great classic, but it's certainly worth more than just that one song.
Final Theme Will Chill Your Soul.......2003-09-30
This is the sound track for the movie of the same name starring Kris Kristoferson, Rita Coolidge, Slim Pickens and, of course, Mr. D. himself. All of the music is instrumental, , except for "Knockin' on Heaven's Door and the two and a half versions of Billy. Personally I love the instrumental stuff, but if you don't you can get "Heaven's Door," on a lot of compilations, but without this record, you'll miss out on "Billy." Four stars for this one, even though "Turkey Chase," is a hoot and the beautiful and haunting "Final Theme will chill your soul.

Customer Reviews:
Not My Style.......2007-05-11
This CD has a lot of good songs on it, but it just too bland for our taste. We prefer Western music to sound as though genuine cowboys are singing it - not a fancy chorus!
Rockin' Western Collection.......2006-08-28
For anyone who likes movie/tv music from westerns should purchase this CD. What a wonderful collection of both film and tv with great renditions of each piece. I'm about to purchase Vol. 1 to complete my collection.
Hard to Find Great Western Themes .......2006-03-16
This CD has a number of great western themes that are not in some of the standard lists. For example it includes "The Hallejuah Trail", "Blazing Saddles", and "Giant". This CD also has what I consider the true theme of "The Comancheros". I have been disappointed with some other CDs I have purchased listing "The Comancheros" which had a song rather than this theme. Many of the tracks on this two disk CD go beyond the main theme music and are actually suites. The "Big Country" and "How the West Was Won" are just a couple of examples. It may be a little more expense than some CDs, but not bad for a two disk set. I am really happy with my purchase.
Western Music.......2005-07-29
I enjoy this CD. It has many familiar melodies. Good background for reading, nice to listen while driving. It is also the only CD I've ever found that has the great theme from the movie "Giant."
A great follow-up.......2003-08-29
This is the second collection by SilvaScreen, who are also responsible for "The Wild West: The Essential Western Film Music Collection" (see my review). And it's just as good as the first. There are themes in here that everyone will recognize ("Bonanza," "A Fistful of Dollars"), themes that may not be so familiar ("Duel in the Sun," "The Hanging Tree," the lively "Blazing Saddles"), and even themes you may not associate with Westerns at all ("The Friendly Persuasion"). And no duplication either: when this disc includes a piece from one of the same sources covered in its predecessor, it's a different piece. One great treat: the full lyrics to "Gunfight at OK Corral," which I've never heard outside the soundtrack of the movie itself. The arrangement from "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" includes not only the familiar song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" but an overview of the music--seguing almost seamlessly into Bernstein's magnificent "The Comancheros," a rare find indeed. An expensive item, but if you love Western film music, well worth it.

Nice Soundtrack.......2007-02-16
Much better than the average soundtrack from the period, many of the tracks are original from the movie (including 'Raindrops', 'South American Adventure' and 'New York'), some fillers are included but otherwise quite faithful to the original movie.
Great Memories.......2006-05-03
I first saw the movie at a med-evac hospital overseas while caring for Vietnam-wounded Marines, and I fell in love with the soundtrack then and there. As soon as I was returned to the States (or as we used to call it "The World") I bought the album and played it until the grooves wore out. Then came the 8 track, the cassette, and now the CD. Time marches on.
Burt Bacharach is pure genius, and this soundtrack is one of his more stellar efforts. My personal favorites are "Not Goin' Home Anymore", a great tune, and "South American Getaway", an alternating happy-go-lucky and melancholy tune. Of course, three versions of "Raindrops" is a good thing to have anytime.
All in all, a great trip down memory lane and a great example of the genius that is Bacharach.
My Favorite Album / CD.......2005-08-10
This is without a second thought my favorite CD. I had the album. (still around here somewhere) This is excellent music bumper to bumper. Not a bad note in the entire track.
A Classic Film Score.......2003-05-06
This sountrack is just as fresh today in 2003 as when it was released on L.P. so many years ago. Some of Burt Bacharach's Best Work. You'll notice "South American Getaway" has been recently been used on SBC commercials.
3 Versions Keep Falling On My Head.......2002-10-18
A remarkably good album for only 9 songs. The songs span several different styles: pop ("Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"), '60ish scatting ("South American Getaway"), circus music ("On A Bicycle Built For Joy"), old-fashioned brass band ("Old Fun City"), moody harmonica ("Not Goin' Home Anymore"). There are 3 versions of "Raindrops..." here under different song titles. One of these versions (the instrumental one) never appeared in the movie, but the music in the movie's intro (a guitar version of "Not Goin' Home Anymore") doesn't appear on the album. ... B.J.'s voice is hoarse in "On A Bicycle Built For Joy" but surprisingly that somehow makes it sound even better! It would also be great if, like on the M*A*S*H film soundtrack, they added bits of the very cute dialog from the film.

What's a woebegone wall-crawler to do? Arachnid-powered superteen Peter Parker's all-too-human foibles are never far from the heart of director Sam Raimi's second installment of the Spider-Man saga, giving it an emotional resonance that sets it smartly apart from its summer blockbuster competition. But while Raimi and star Toby McGuire help emotionally ground the film, its stunning CGI effects -- and this robust, aggressive orchestral score by Danny Elfman -- insure we never forget this is no mere soap opera. The composer returns with a vengeance to the larger-than-life, crowd-pleasing sensibility of his acclaimed work on Batman and its sequel, though he occasionally seasons it with sparing dashes of the post-modern flirtations of his Hulk score. Elfman conjures his formula masterfully, bookending a suitably moody, rhythmically anxious new theme for Dr. Octopus with a brassy reprise of villainy-past on "The Goblin Returns." Though leavened by more emotionally bright passages, it's a score largely dominated by the dark, brooding comic book melodramatics that are the favorite of so many Elfman acolytes. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
This is One of Elfman's Best Scores!!!!.......2007-05-09
I really love this cd. ive always wanted to hear the main title from the movie and when i got this cd i was really happy and when i heard it i felt like i was watching the movie again. Elfman is one of my favorite and best composers since John Williams!!! This is a MUST have!!!!
Not the best soundtrack I've heard.......2007-03-09
I own a lot of soundtracks and this is not one of the best. The music is great when the movie is playing but loses something on its own.
Missing some music pieces.......2006-10-14
I decided to buy this CD after wanting a piece played in Spider-Man 2 SO badly. I was furious when I listened to this and didn't find it anywhere. The piece I was looking for was the piano piece during the scene when Peter hugs Aunt May when she's packing. You'd think it would be in 'Ant May Packs' but it's not. It is also missing some other great pieces from the movie. A bit of a let down...
A well Motion Picture Score........2006-02-10
This Orignal Motion Picture score was great becuase of the music that Danny Elfman used on this Cd. I love #1"Main Titles",#2,and I love the Doc Ock theme. I really wish that they would of put in the Pizza Delivery when Peter delivers the pizza's. And when Doc Ock puts his arms up for the first time. But I love this motion picture score soundtrack. It's a great score to listin to. I highly recommend it! And it's a 48 minute soundtrack and the music in the film wasn't all in the soundtrack. But Danny Elfman did an awesome job with this Orignal Motion Picture Score for Spider-Man 2!
great buy .......2006-01-20
this cd is a great buy for spider-man fans because it includes most of the music score but not all. my favorite tracks are track #1 whick the title theme, track #7 which is titled the mugging/peters turmoil peters turmoil is the first 3 minuets and is also the theme when peter says I'm spider-man no more, I also like track #9 which is titled hes back, track #14 which is titled at long last love, and finnaly the classic but annoyingly catchy track #15 which is raindrops keep fallin on my head. other themes on this cd are train/appreciation which is track #10. also there is the track titled the goblins returns which includes a little of the green goblin theme.

Dragon Tunes, the record, aims to fire up 2- to 6-year-old fans of the fantasy-fueled PBS show with a herd of uptempo original tunes, and it largely succeeds. Culled on the 20-track collection are good-timey, get-you-moving numbers such as "Wiggle Song," which invites movement and active listening through its directive to "Wiggle your fingers / Wiggle your toes / Wiggle your hands and / Wiggle your nose." Then there's "Touch," which has the keep-up-if-you-can lyric, "Touch your elbows / Touch your bum-bum / Touch your kneecaps / Try to keep in touch," as well as confidence-builders such as "Betcha Can" and "Try" ("And though you may be small / Each day you're growing up / And you'll be big and tall / 'Till then just strut your stuff"). Kids who carry a dragon torch for certain characters won't waste time fast-forwarding to "The Ord Shuffle," "Cassie," or the Zak-and-Wheezie-celebrating "Be a Dragon." Others will want to wag their dragon tails track by track, starting with the familiar-to-all opener "Dragon Tales Theme." Because the series devotes a segment of every half-hour show to singing and dancing, more than just the theme song will be familiar, though--something that serves to further the record's appeal. Another appeal-enhancing feature is the persistent presence of former Ohio Express singer Joey Levine as the songwriter. Parents who can recall such bubblegum hits as the Express's "Chewy Chewy" will likely chime in on Levine's cheery vibe. Like most kid-show soundtracks, this album is low on art, high on spunk, but given the instant grins it'll register, loving parents can't be helped from wondering, so what? --Tammy La Gorce

Wonderful, a real lifesaver!.......2007-06-21
I got this cd for my son during about three years ago on a vacation. He was three back then. He's almost six now, and he still loves listening to it, and so do we, his parents. No matter how many times we listen to it, it never gets boring, and we even got my 1 1/2 year old nephew into it. My son's favorite song on this one is "Cassie." Mom and Dad like "Hello," "Doodli-Do," "Wake Up" and "Hum."
Music for Children and Parents to Enjoy.......2007-02-07
This CD makes enjoyable background music for me as a parent, as well as containing songs that my son likes. There are several action-oriented songs that your child can follow ("get up on your feet", "stretch") to reinforce the names of different body parts. We have fun listening to this album. The best part? It isn't grating like so many other children CDs. I don't mind listening to this one over and over.
This is a great CD.......2006-03-25
The fun, zydeco songs on this are awesome. I've been telling all my friends how much I love it, they think I'm crazy, until they hear it!
Mr Levine does it again!.......2006-03-06
Dragon Tales and More Dragon Tales are vibrant and fun. With Joey Levine on most of the leads is fantastic. Not to mention the songs that are written by him. These CDs are a must for any Joey Levine-Ohio Express fan's. These CD's are not only great for kids, but for adults also. You will be singing along in no time. Have Fun!
Just like the TV show!.......2005-10-16
My son loves Dragon Tales and now we can enjoy all the fun songs during our car rides! The songs have a great beat and don't drive Mom and Dad nuts listening to 'kid' music! Great purchase if you child loves the show. We also purchased 'More Dragon Tales' which has the newer songs on it.

Originally a Hanna-Barbera superhero designed by comic artist Alex Toth in the 1960s, Space Ghost was revived by the Cartoon Network as a surreal, self-involved talk-show host in 1994. Given free rein to show off his previously hidden talents as a song-and-dance man, Space Ghost (voiced by George Lowe) soared and was rewarded with a musical variety show, Cartoon Planet. Musical Bar-B-Que is the second collection spawned by Cartoon Planet, and it contains much of the out-of-print Modern Music for Swinging Super Heroes. A heaping chunk of inspired wackiness from Space Ghost and two of his enemies (the dimwitted Brak and the lovably gruff Zorak), Musical Bar-B-Que makes even The Simpsons seem tame. --Randy Silver

Hilarious guy humor.......2007-02-13
If you are a fan of adult swim and have seen the new Space Ghost show, you will LOVE this CD. My 5 year old son and his daddy love it. It is full of the human body intestinal and other body sound effects. Although it is from the adult swim segment, there are no curse words or offensive phrases a 5 year old should not hear. Other than the one song with "shut up" and another with a" stupid", it is acceptable for a child to hear.
I call it "guy humor" but I actually find it funny myself. The songs will stick in your head and make you smile throughout your day. Everytime I eat beans I think of the song "I Love Beans". [I am laughing to myself now just thinking about it]
Why would anyone want to be Space Ghost?.......2006-11-20
This album features songs and dialogue from the Cartoon Network show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The songs are short, silly and stupid (but in a good way). They are performed by Space Ghost, Zorak and Brak. If you like the show, you'll like the album. If you hate the show, you'll hate the album. If you never saw the show, you'll be baffled.
total bliss.......2006-07-25
This was the first cd i ever bought right when it came out... i dont remember exactly what year or how old it had to be in the 5th or 6th grade cause i did the song "water" for a talent show... but finding it on here has put me in total bliss cause it really brings back memories from about half my life ago.. wow great stuff thank you so much
funny, and fun to sing with.......2005-06-16
this cd is worth a buy, if you enjoy light hearted fun, and singing along with cds. i dont remember much of the Space Ghost, but i do remember enough to get who is who on the songs.
Crazy Lovesick Fool........2004-10-28
This is really a fun CD if you have a goofy sense of humor, and enjoy singing out loud to really stupid lyrics. I LOVE THIS CD. I have played it in my car very loudly and convulsed. My two year old niece and I bonded over De Der Down, when I taught it to her. Now I am going to infect my own child with this insidiousness. LOVE IT!

The best of their soundtracks, and/or a great introduction to the Animaniacs.......2007-01-19
For the newcomer to their casual fan to the hardcore "maniac" for Animaniacs, this is a great soundtrack to have. Its songs span the seasons, choosing fan favorites that are funny and "in" enough to please animation nuts, yet varied and fun and silly enough to please the most clueless of kids. After all, it's not on television anymore; though I'm sure on its own, or accompanied by the new dvd sets that are out, this is a gift any kid can adore. Don't pay the amazon marketplace prices unless it's below 30 dollars. Every few weeks a few of the cds make their way to ebay, usually selling for 25 dollars. I got mine by completely lucking out, finding a "buy it now" just as it showed up (costing me 10 dollars). If you find it, buy it. It's fun, zany, and educational, just like the show.
james.......2007-01-04
Bought this CD along with a VHS and my kids loved it! It's really too bad they quit doing the show,I now have to get the other CD which I will for a birthday! Makes a great kid entertainer while traveling!
Back to the classic.......2006-11-19
If you like the music from old cartoons (cleaver and well performed) then you will love this!
Silly and Fun for the kids.......2006-07-18
I recently purchased this CD for my 5 year old. He enjoys the silliness of the songs. I like that many of the songs teach him about the planets, states and capitals, countries of the world and even manners. I didn't give the CD 5 stars because some of the songs are dated and probably only strike a chord with fans of the animated series. However, for the most part it's a fun CD.
Great for kids and adults.......2006-03-03
We love the cd on Animaniacs. Loved the cartoon as well. It is a fun cd to listen to with your children.

There have been at least two generations who were first introduced to ghosts, haunted houses, and mysteries from Scooby-Doo and his pals--Shaggy (the goofy stoner), Freddy (the responsible one), Daphne (the looker), and Velma (the brains, and a sentimental favorite). But did you know that Scooby is only a nickname? (For that matter, so is Shaggy.) Or that there have been four separate theme songs, for the series' different incarnations? (That's including the lean Scrappy-Doo years.) Filling out this collection are the oh-so-groovy tunes that served as background and chase-scene music in some of the best episodes of the series, like "Seven Days a Week," from Scooby's Night with a Frozen Fright. Other highlights here are the Monkees' Davy Jones with "I Can Make You Happy" and the closing track, a dance-oriented remix of the theme song. Neither of the songs are particularly good, but they're plenty of fun just the same. --Randy Silver

Scooby-doo review.......2006-08-10
We played this in the car on our vacation and our two girls loved it for the most part. They remember the songs and could sing along. They just love Scooby.
Come on, get involved, til the mystery is solved........2006-03-30
This CD features music from various Scooby-Doo shows. Of course, the theme songs are all here. There are also some bubblegum songs that played on the original show during the chase scenes. Remember the show where the Scooby Gang teamed with a guest-star every week? Well, the songs sung by guest-stars Jerry Reed and Davy Jones are here. The songs from the later shows are mostly sung by Scooby and his pals, and are rather silly. The CD ends with a fun dance mix of Scooby-Doo music and quotes. A lot of the music on this CD isn't particularly good, but it's a fun nostalgia trip.
Thanks so much.......2006-03-17
My package was recieved more than on time and exactly as it was advertized. Thank you, you made a 4 year old little boy's day.
Scooby Doo does for Us.......2005-09-21
Lots of familiar and not so familiar tunes, My son loves it and sings along with every track. Even the not so familiar sounds leave you feeling hip and groovy and driving to find, "The Malt shop", Lie back and imagine yourself in a cartoon sipping milkshakes with shaggy and the crew, This CD makes it easy....
Feeling Vintage?.......2005-07-11
Even non fans of the "Scooby Doo" series can enjoy this CD. The light, "bubble-gum" pop feel of these sounds are great to listen to anytime; whether it be in the bathtub, or driving down the highway.
For the fans of the series--this is a compliation you can't afford not to pick up...how can you forget "Pretty Mary Sunlight" or "Tell Me, Tell Me", and not connect it with a scene from "Scooby Doo"?

In the sometimes-twisted world of cartoons, Brak seems to fall someplace between Ren & Stimpy and South Park. Not quite as gross as the former and nowhere near as foul-mouthed as the latter, Valdemar H. Guerta (a.k.a. Brak) climbed to stardom on the back--or slippery ether--of his costar Space Ghost. Now the Brakster has gathered some truly unusual (and unexpected) guests for his first album. Like an audio nightmare cartoon gross-out of the skull, The Brak Album trots out many of his most obese obsessions: "Rock Candy" (great for causing cavities, as Brak duly points out), "Magic Toenail," "Big Fat Squid," "We Like Girls," and... well, you get the picture. Ireland's Chieftains appear here with "I'll Tell Me Ma," while WCW World Heavyweight wrestler Diamond Dallas Page does a cameo with "Evil Is Only Skin Deep." But it's Freddie Prinze Jr. on "Highway 40" who seems an even odder special guest than the Irish minstrels and the canvas crusher. Throw in the Brakettes and a backing band eager to funk it up and you've got a kids' record that redefines "weird" for today's Brakhead (and tomorrow's next generation of good, all-American citizens). --Martin Keller
Customer Reviews:
I love Brak.......2007-01-04
I love the Brak show so I thought this cd would be amazing. I sadly skimped over the fact that it is "children's music" so with that known some of the songs easily get annoying... which never happens on the show.
From the Producers of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.......2006-11-10
This is the soundtrack to a TV special called "Brak Presents The Brak Show Starring Brak". Brak was a character on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. He is known for his extreme stupidity. On this album, he sings a bunch of silly, moronic songs, which are actually rather funny. He has several special guests helping him out, including cartoon characters Zorak, Grape Ape and Wally Gator. Some real people guest star too, including Irish folk music group the Chieftains, actor Freddie Prinze Jr. and wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. It you liked Space Ghost Coast to Coast, you will probably enjoy this CD. If you never saw that show, you will most likely be baffled by this CD.
In My Big Ol Pickup Truck.......2006-11-07
I heard "Highway 40" on XMKids channel in XM Satellite Radio and the kids and I can't get it out of my head. I'm buying this immediately!!! Lil' Jimmy and Ramone will sing along with glee!
I've Got A Magic Toenail.......2005-06-27
Well, I don't know where to start. This is a great album if you happen to like ex-convict singing cartoon cat-like creatures from outer space. I happen to be in that small, vociferous minority who does, and find this album to be wholesomely strange and depraved. Any CD with songs like "Beeflog," "Big Fat Squid," and my personal favorite, the haunting "Magic Toenail," is worth a listen in my book.
Ostensibly this is for kids, but adult fans of Space Ghost will be just as comfortable (yet strangely uncomfortable) listening to Brak sing, sometimes accompanied by the Brakettes.
One thing's for sure: this CD is certainly like no other. Listen and enjoy.
I LOVE BRAK!!!.......2004-08-28
The humor on this album is sublime. We got it as a gift a couple of years ago and never listened to it. My 4 yo son discovered it and made me play it for him and I just cracked up! We've been listening to it several times a day for the past month and I still haven't tired of it. My 1 yo loves the music and just rocks out and my 8 yo likes figuring out the more subtle jokes. Fun for the whole family!
