3 out of 5 stars not as good.......2007-05-15

Not even close to being as good as the first "Crow"'s soundtrack. Too repeatitive to my ears.

3 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the first but it's not without some great tracks..........2006-09-23

Straight to the point. This album is not nearly as good as the first. But Hole, Rob Zombie, Filter, Pj Harvey, Bush (surprisingly amazing with the Joy Division cover... cause apparently this franchise really digs those), and Iggy Pop all have great songs so it certainly isn't a waste of money. But many of the other songs(and artists) have not withstood the test of time. I would say go grab some of the songs off of this, and a couple of the songs of the abysmal follow up (The Crow 3: A Movie No One Has Seen) and call it a day.

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully Gloomy Compilation.......2005-10-16

The Crow: City of Angels soundtrack is an absolutely beautiful, yet utterly gloomy and dark compilation from the best of the mid 90's alt-rock, and hip-hop, scene.

The album features a handful of covers (including Hole's awesome cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman" and Bush's adequately dark Joydivision track, "In A Lonely Place"), some b-sides from the best of the rap metal scene (Korn's "Sean Olson" and the ripping Deftones track "Teething") and some of the absolute BEST low-key collaborations of the decade (rounded out by 4 Non-Blondes Linda Perry & Jefferson Airplane's Grace Slick on "Knock Me Out" and my personal favourite track on the disc, Tricky and The Gravediggaz trading some creepy and unnerving verses on the ultra-ambient "Tonite is A Special Nite"). Other alt-rock favourites such as Filter, Toadies and the underrated NY Loose appear also, offering some rare tracks that really bring a smooth and solid cohesiveness to the package.

The album faithfully and effectively carries on the dark and melancholy mood inspired by the films themselves, and there is never really a dull moment on the disc. A teriffic soundtrack album, worthy of picking up for any fans of dark and gloomy rock, harsh alternative or for fans of the movie(s) themselves. Other mentionables include PJ Harvey's "Naked Cousin" and Iggy Pop's energetic live performance of "I Wanna Be Your Dog". Do not pass this one over.

4 out of 5 stars Filter, Bush, the Toadies....Remember these bands?.......2005-07-13

I've been carrying around a battle-scarred copy of this CD for years. While I don't revisit the alt-rock hits at the beginning, I have discovered a jewel near the end of the disc - Iggy Pop's live version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog". It is an absolutely blistering track. I don't know how many people out there are Stooges fans, but this version beats the original on their first album, hands down. Iggy manages to pack more power and sleaze into 3 minutes than any of these other bands can put on an album.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best!!!.......2004-07-23

I HAD to give this CD 5 stars since it is one of the VERY FEW cd's I've bought over the past decade where I like every song (one of four actually, the others being AC/DC - Live, Weird Al - Bad Hair Day and Gravity Kills self titled album). I bought it when it first came out and still listen to it today. The songs blend well together and carry the emotion of The Crow legacy with them. I rate this album the best in the series.

5 out of 5 stars Soundtrack As Great As The Movie Itself.......2005-10-24

Although, not surpassing the first film's music, this soundtrack is good. People are saying that this is a great score to a bad movie, but I say this is a great score to a great movie (Still, it does not surpass the first Crow film)

I think the music 'I Will Wait For You' is the best. It represents the love, romance feel in this movie.

Buy this score if you want to know what I'm talking about, and also buy the dvd!

ASHE: One crow sorrow......two crows joy...Three crows a letter....four crows a boy....Five crows silver.....six crows gold...Seven crows a secret never to be told.

5 out of 5 stars Another terrific score to a bad movie!.......2001-03-04

Revell build on to,and adds texture to,his original vision for the first film's score.Dark,Gothic soundscapes for those of us that love that sort of thing.Skip the movie, though. It's garbage..........

5 out of 5 stars Terriffic gothic music score.......1999-09-07

After hearing this amazing score, I'm surprised I never noticed it more while I was watching the trash film it was wasted on. Even after hearing the sound samples from this page, the embarrassment of owning the score for such an awful movie made me hesitate to buy it. However, once I began listening to the real CD through good speakers, all regret vanished. This is one of my most valued CDs, and I listen to it constantly. The first crow score had more ethnic elements, whereas this one is mostly all gothic in style, but there is still a great variety of different tracks and nothing ever gets boring. I'll probably never find a better album of dark atmospheric music in my life, unless it's by Graeme Revell. The only thing I don't like about this album is the pop-singer vocal track, but it is the last track, and can be easily avoided if you happen to share my abhorrence for that sort of thing.

5 out of 5 stars As mysterious and touching as the first.......1998-12-04

Graeme Revell's gothic music score not only add to the dark nature of the film, but also invokes emotion as not many scores do. His combination of orchestra, chorus, and rock accompanies the film remarkably, and on its own stands as an excellent album of goth music. Perhaps its not as good as the first score soundtrack, but it is still worth it to own.

5 out of 5 stars Deftones!!!.......1999-09-02

All I gots ta say is check out the song called "Teething" by the Deftones! It is the most intense, powerful piece of rapcore music I have ever heard!!! I have spent many a nights building up my calf muscles while jumping up and down to that track over and over again! The Korn track ain't bad either, a little on the slow and pounding side. Kinda chunky, but I like! And I guess the Hole track ain't half bad so I'll give the record on a whole three stars. Word up! --Kelly Magovern
