this disk complete the movie in all aspects,
the sound , the rethemes are all here.
some parts repeat them selves in couple of variations
but still it is a good soundtrack.

This movie has been one of my favorites since it was first in theaters, and the music has stayed with me ever since - a perfect counterpoint to the story, and well worth addition to anyones collection if they value originality and striking composition!

A beautifully made yet abstruse film, The Double Life of Veronique is the story of two young women who are in some mysterious and irresolvable way the same woman leading two different yet interconnected lives. Directed by the great Krzysztof Kieslowski, known for his Blue, White & Red films. The score by Zbigniew Preisner compliments the oblique images. 1991.

Achingly beautiful.......2006-06-15
First, I am a bit surprised no one has reviews this magnificant album yet.
The music that flows from this album is of the Gods. You don't have to see the film. Just play this and you will melt. The Concerto in track 5 still brings tears to my eyes even after many listens. It is also a key point in the film.
Zbigniew Preisner is a romantic at heart and no doubt one of the giants of film composition in our time. You don't want to miss his compositions to the Three Colors trilogy as well.

Preisner's best music yet.......2005-11-13
I got to know the music through the film. Kieslowski's film is a masterpiece indeed but at the end I could not take off my mind this great music that accompanied the scenes. Preisner was unknown to me and I found myself looking all over to find Van Den Budenmayer's music, just to find out that he was Preisner's creation. Since then I got to know Preisner's music pretty well through the Colors trilogy, the Requiem, The Secret Garden and the Quartet. Although I find his music great in every aspect, there isn't another work that could outshine Veronique. The only problem I find is the 30 min duration of the CD but expensive things come in small boxes....

This cd is honestly the most beautiful entrancing music one will ever hear. This is truly Preisner's masterpiece in my opinion. I saw the movie on T.V., but they didnt show the credits so i went and rented it just to find out the name of the person who created this otherwordly music...it's that good. This film itself isn't much to talk home about, but this cd is SO worth buying. BUY IT!!!!! Unless you cant hear...you will love it!
TOO SHORT TOO BAD.......2001-05-04
I have just received my copy of this CD from Amazon France and like most of Preisners work it is stunningly beautiful. I am on my second playing of this CD to get my value out of it (not that it matters as it can be played over and over again without getting bored ) as it is only 30 minutes in duration. 4 stars even though content is 5 out of 5. Fabulous soundtrack and movie. If you enjoyed the soundtracks to Blue and Red which I hope to receive any day now from Amazon.com you will love this album. According to the cover notes on the cd the soundtrack to White is also available but I have not been able to find it. I have checked Amazon in Germany, France, U.K and U.S but it is not listed. The Philarmonic Choir of Silesia will numb the senses and the Great Orchestra of Katowice is pretty good as well.
Overwhelming.......2000-09-12
Preisner creates the most powerful backdrop for films with his soundtracks, and in particular when he has created soundtracks for Kieslowski films, like La Double Vie de Véronique. The sheer intensity of the vocals and the climactic heights of the music leaves one breathless. Although Preisner's soundtracks for the Bleu, Blanc, Rouge trilogy were superior, this soundtrack, in my humble opinion, is his best and most powerful work.
