Solid Genre Collection.......2006-02-03

If you're an film score collector, this is a nice CD to add to your collection but it's not for everyone.

The songs on this CD are clearly from a soundtrack and don't really stand on their own very well ... unless your life revolves around planning capers on a rooftop in Venice or the Italian police is often chasing you through the streets of San Marco :-)

The title of this CD is amusing but it does't make much sense with the tracks - these are not really the tracks you find on light hearted Italian comedies of the 1960's and they're not 'easy' (music) in the sense most music collectors go by.

These are mostly jazzy, brassy tracks that would not be out of place in virtually any caper film - and a couple tracks would not be out of place on MANNIX or THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO - you know the kind - first the drums kick in and then a trumpet joins in on the loud jazzy ride. There are also some nice ballads that are definitely easy but that's three tracks.

Overall, these are all solid and fun tracks that immediately evoke film and TV making of that era but they don't really stand on their own listening repeatedly. They're amusing and if that and the phrase Italian cinema score tracks makes you click ADD TO SHOPPING CART ... then great - you're all set.

(really 2.5 stars but no half star as a choice)

But if you're looking for all the fun of 1960's slightly- over-the-top brassy, jazzy Italian cinema scores that will stand up as regular listening then you'll need to look up Armando Sciascia.

I'm not an Italian girl, but this music is very soothing and calming. Reminds me of the 'James Bond' type music from the '60's. If you like this kind of stuff, you'll like this album.
