You would never guess that this collection of club hits and house-infused dance-pop is the brainchild of the CARE Resource AIDS charity based in Miami. Despite the fact that all net profits go towards the laudable and weighty goals of AIDS prevention and awareness efforts around the country, the music on this record simply cares about getting you up and on the dance floor. Leading off with the Cher-like diva vocals and relentless drive of M People's "Testify," the beat never lets up and the energy level never surrenders. The set peaks toward the end with a soaring mix surrounding Art of Trance's irresistible "Madagascar" (another stellar version of which can be found on Dave Ralph's Tranceport, Vol. 2). While this disc might be so insistently danceable that it lacks much of a brain, the enthusiasm and nobility that drove its creation ensure that it has a heart. --Matthew Cooke

David Knapp gives is a good number of rare tracks on CD!.......2005-10-13
This continuous mix, more than just a party disc, is a great disc for collectors of dance music. M People starts off the mix with a funky, upbeat mix of "Testify", and then there's a jolting jump right into the much harder and darker "Hurt Me So Bad" by Lulu. The Brightside is that it's so hard to find this track on disc. This track sets up the tone for the next few hard, peak hour vocal anthems, including the absolutely slammin' and hard-to-find on CD "Just What You Did" by Angela. The ever annoying "9PM Til I Come" nearly ruins the entire mix, but luckily, things are saved by a long version of the hex hector mix of Diana Ross, another rare find on CD. Judy Torres's cover of Irene Cara could have been incredibly pretty, but the excessive gospel-like back up vocals get a little annoying, as do the constant repetitions of the words "my own". "Madagascar" is a mellow instrumental trance track that gives you time to cool down-you can almost feel the warm breeze (or air conditioner) blowing over the crowd. "I Found Someone" is a fun cover of Cher saved from being completely hokey by a strong, dark and moody mix-although the vocal riff is a bit cheesy. "Moments" is a cover of an old track that is just terribly boring-irritating melody and vocals, bland instrumental-and WAY too long. However, the last track is the icing on the cake-the near full-length version of the Junior Vasquez mix of "whenever there is love" by Donna Summer and Bruce Roberts. Track times:
1. Testify (6:54)
2. Hurt Me So Bad (6:42)
3. So Hi (5:29)
4. Just What You Did (6:31)
5. 9PM Till I Come (4:49)
6. Until We Meet Again (8:09)
7. Out Here on My Own (6:50)
8. Madagascar (5:36)
9. I found someone (4:52)
10. Moments (9:01)
11. Whenever there is love (8:34)
There are better CDs out there..........2002-04-30
I bought this CD for two songs -- "Out Here On My Own" and "I Found Someone" -- and as it turns out those are the only two songs I'm really into. Both covers (the first is an old Fame song and the second is a Cher cover...you don't see many Cher covers...) they are the highlight of the CD for me. I'm sure many folks like the M People song and several other songs are good and worth the note other reviewers have given them. But I don't give it five stars...only three. I think there are other CDs out there that are better and that I would consider essential CDs...I appreciate the charity effort of this CD... So while there are a couple good tunes on this one, I don't give it the highest marks...there are better CDs out there.
Just What It Did!.......2000-10-12
This CD is worth it just for the 4th track......an awesome dance tune that it is not out commercially....anywhere! If you like the other David Knapp White Party's and the David Knapp/John Blair CD.....you can't help but like this one too!
Keeping you Dancing all night.......2000-09-06
I got this CD as a gift about 4 months ago, and it is the best CD in my collection... Everyone wants me to play it all the time. It definitely has good beats, and the build-ups keep you wanting more and more. Awesome pick!
Another for the collection.......2000-05-15
If you enjoy the other Centaur White Party CDs, this is one to add to the collection. New songs, same rhythms that make you feel fabulous (sorry, couldn't find a better word) being alive. Roll-down your car windows and turn in up!
