Product Description
Following Kenny Dope's recent successful album from Defected, we have repackaged his classic Disco Heat to give it a more contemporary look.
Through the album's selection of classic disco cuts, Kenny takes us back to the late 70s and early 80s, one of the most creative and influential times in dance music's history. New York City was home to some of the most legendary and influential night clubs - The Loft, The Gallery, Studio 54, and the Paradise Garage. All these clubs were built on the sounds that Kenny has included on this 3-CD album - the true underground sound of disco. Two CDs on the album include the essential classic disco cuts in their entirety compiled by Kenny. The third Disc is an exclusive mix by him that cuts and blends the tracks smoothly and flawlessly.
Disco Heat is the perfect representation of disco - the foundation for today's house music - where he cuts, blends and mixes these significant old tunes as only he can. Truly, Kenny Dope is a Master at Work!

Finally, new boney m releases.......2007-04-29
Although the songs from Boney M have been released many and many times over on compilation cd's, this is actually the second time that this album is going to be released on cd. As a fan and collector I was hoping that this release would bring some rareties that were still not released on cd before. Partly that's what we get.
The tracklisting remains partially the same with the old vinyl release and the later cd release:
Daddy Cool
Take the Heat off Me
Sunny
Baby Do You Wanna Bump
No Woman, No Cry
Fever
Got a Man on My Mind
Lovin' or Leavin'
And there are two bonus tracks:
New York City (This was the B-side from the Sunny 7inch and has so far only been released on a belgium released best of cd)
Perfect: Liz Mitchell (the solo single also not very common available).
BUT, as the cd now plays for some 45 minutes. It would have been nice if the very rare track 'help help' was included (this one was only available on the very first vinyl pressing of the album and was then withdrawn for copyright reasons). But 30 years later, could that not have been solved?
And for me, pure for collectors reasons, the A and B side from baby do you wanna bump could have been included, or maybe the belgium released 7inch for no woman no cry which did not fade at the end. Or, the first solo single from marcia barret if we are including other solo singles as well... Then I would have been a happy collector.

Imagination's Best.......2006-04-17
After the crash of disco during the late seventies there was not much to dance about. New Wave was ruling and even disco queen Donna Summer lost her thrown. In Europe disco (or better say dancemusic) did not entirely fanished. People still wanted to dance and some artists (also Donna) try to keep up the torch before Madonna and Shannon renewed disco some years later. Imagination was something special in that respect. Their music was soulfull, swinging, danceable.. but not really disco. The producers duo Tony Swain and Steve Jolley curved a special dance music style: typical bass loops, slow rhythms and vocal arrangements. It is very nice music to listen to or even pre lounge music. It can be called sensual, but in overall really Imagination. Very recognizable. This is the best Imagination album of all. The biggest hit was "Just An Illusion" (recently sampled by Mariah Carey on "Get Your Number") later followed by "Music And Lights" and "Changes". The most fastest song is "Heart And Soul" and there are some good ballads like "All Night Loving" and "One More Love". It's a pity the extras are only the single versions. They could have made it more interesting in adding some discosingle versions which I still have on vinyl.
In the Heat of the Night..........2005-11-16
Personally, I found "In the Heat of the Night" a good disc! I am just biased for "Body Talk (4 stars)." I bought both discs together (just to cover myself!). Believe me, I didn't waste my money! If you can get them for a good price, please purchase "In the Heat of the Night" together with "Body Talk" and run your own comparison. In my view, you won't regret it! Three stars!
Whole Equal To The Sum Of It's Parts!.......2005-03-14
Imagination suffer no sophmore slump at all on 1982's 'In The Heat Of The Night'.The songwriting style remains the same and has actually improved a little. The title song,"All Night Loving" and "All I Want To Know" are fabolous low to midtempo slow grooves but, unlike many attached to terrific melodies! The deep grooves of "Music And Light","One More Love" and the spine tingling "Changes" will indeed give you goosebumps at their smooth, blithe funkiness."Heart N' Soul" is again an excellent example of Imaginations very early grasp on the burgeoning house music style that would explode later in the decade and that they'd already begun to explore on their debut a year earlier. This album is FAR MORE then the equal of the 1981's
'Body Talk' album and I strongly suggest that the two CD's be purchased together-they are the only in-print examples of this groups unique sound and style! After all, they've made a fan out of me for sure!
Like "Old School? Check this out!.......2002-08-16
I first heard of Imagination when their single "Just An Illusion" was being played on the radio during my freshman year. Imagination's falsetto based sound reminds me of the work of earlier groups like Blue Magic & The Delphonics, but definitely with that post disco early 80's synthesized feel. "Just An Illusion" (my favorite cut, also featured in the movie "F/X") has a laid back finger snapping danceable groove. "Changes" is another great cut that will get your head noddin'. "In the Heat of the Night," great music but the lyrics didn't make much sense to me. "Heart and Soul" and "Music and Lights" are also good tunes. "All I Want to Know," "One More Love" and
"All Night Lovin'" sound a little "sleepy" to me but that's just my opinion! Too bad the group's now defunct. Overall, this is a pretty good CD!

Customer Reviews:
Height of Disco Era Dancefloor Mix.......2006-11-11
Ok... by now everyone's read about the poor quality of this recording. Well, to be honest, it's not great, BUT turn up the bass and blast the volume, and you'll have everyone in the room up and dancing. Sounds as if this disc were recorded from old vinyl records, leaving that warm analog sound. Personally I love it! Lots of rarities, like the Bryan Adams, but having "Deputy of Love" by Don Armando's 2nd Ave. Rhumba band clinches the deal. Buy this disc for parties and fun. It's like having your own personal dj.
Tremendous Song Selection, Bad Sound Quality.......2006-02-26
I would rate this higher if the sound quality was better, it actually sounds like someone's old mix tapes that were transfered to CD. The fade after the La Flavour track & the ability to hear pitch adjustments during beat mixes suggests this. It is important to note this is a continuous beat-mixed set. There is actually another track not accounted for on here ahead of Bryan Adams, so the sequencing is off by one from there. The packaging is minimal & reminds me of CD's I find local DJ's selling at their gigs made off their own computers.
Having said that, it's not entirely bad. The song selections range from rare to downright obscure with a few common tokens thrown in for good measure. This is the kind of collection I would put together if I worked for a major label & wanted retro-disco CD's to sell, but getting the rights for most of this stuff would take a miracle (the Bryan Adams track a prime example as he did his darndest to bury it). You get about 3 minutes of each song here, which is good for a mix-show or party, don't get stuck on one song for too long (considering the lengths of some of the original 12" mixes). Mostly beat mixed pretty well with occasional quick cross-fades, only a few rough spots, but it reminds me of my first mix tapes & was kinda' nostalgic. This disc is best for the hardcore disco fanatics, not the top 40 crowd.
What a mistake!!.......2005-11-23
I also purchased this cd for Bryan Adams "Let me take you dancing", because I couldn't find it anywhere else. This cd sounds like it was made by a novice. The songs are not played in full and there is chirping during some of the songs. It sounds like it was originally a club mix, but someone destroyed it by cutting off the song in order to begin a new track. I don't recommend this cd if you want to hear an entire song. It sounds really bad. You could never play it if you have company, or if someone is in the car because it's an embarrassment.
First & worst possible online experience I could ever have!.......2004-05-27
I ordered Disco Heat, Volume 2 for a rare track by Bryan Adams that I could not find anywhere else (Let Me Take You Dancing). Yes, the same Bryan Adams who sings Cuts Like A Knife, This Time, Heaven, Summer of '69, Straight From The Heart, etc. I looked everywhere locally, so that I could avoid ordering online if possible, but with no success. My birthday was in March so I finally decided to purchase the CD for a present to myself. Amazon.com was about the only place (besides Buy.com) I could find this disc. When I received the order, the jewel case was factory shrink-wrapped, but to my shock and surprise, no CD was inside. Amazon.com sent a replacement in a timely manner, but when this second delivery arrived, I was further disappointed. The jewel case was cracked in two places, plus the CD reminded me of somebody's "Bargain Basement Burn," as it wouldn't even cue up in one of my two RCA CD players, which are identical models. The bottom player did finally recognize the digital media, but tracked it with 22 cuts, instead of the 21 listed on the liner insert. I thought it strange, but attempted to listen to discover where the discrepancy had developed. The first cut was double tracked, which caused all subsequent songs on the CD to be off sync with the playlist description by one numerical value. The overall quality was extremely poor...the audio was muddy, not crisp and sharp like one would expect from a brand new CD. The cuts sloppily segued from one to another, without interruption; most of the "mixes" were subpar, to be polite. I was also very disappointed by the time I reached cuts #19 and 20. There was pronounced "chirping" that became so prominent that the laser could not read the information, thus continual skipping resulted. I contacted Amazon.com again and explained my situation. They agreed to replace the defective disc. I was praying three times, and more than a month later, would be the charm to remedy this online horror story. Unfortunately, when the final CD came, to my utter amazement, it was packaged just like the others, shrink-wrapped and actually even contained a disc. This CD however, was a totally different mix entirely. It contained Born To Be Alive (and a badly cropped two minute version with an unnatural fade to boot), Funkytown, I Love The Nightlife, It's A Love Thing, and other original artists that were not on the liner note playlist for Volume 2 that I was expecting. I do NOT fault Amazon.com with this unpleasant first time online buying experience, as they attempted to earnestly correct this trio of tragedies timely and professionally, before cheerfully refunding the purchase price after three replacement tries. DiscoBox Records (the manufacturer) likely uses Amazon.com as an economical distribution and marketing arm for their products and drop-ships the merchandise once an order has been placed, with Amazon getting a percentage of the profits for their involvement. From a customer's perspective, the three possible things that could go wrong with a transaction, no disc included in factory wrapped jewel case, compact disc that is multidefective, and audio material on disc that is completely different than what is expected and advertised on packaging, all happened when purchasing this particular compact disc. So if you want this CD for some reason like I did, please cautiously beware of high percentage problems with this item, and recall my related experience that I considerately shared with you as a forewarning. Happy shopping!

Fantastic!.......2007-02-16
These girls are simply fantastic and I have no words to rate the beautiful songs they sing here. So good it was issued on CD!
Good album! Bad title!.......2004-01-24
Although the title is rather degrading to the trio (and women, as a whole), this 1974 release from Barry White's Love Unlimited features three of "The Maestro's" most seductive creations: "Share a Little Love in Your Heart," "I Belong to You", and "Love's Theme" (the hit instrumental with lyrics).
Each song is sultry, provocative, and exudes LOVE, the trademark of the late Mr. White.

Off the hook!.......2005-09-13
These discs are incredible - incredibly creative.
I am a die hard disco lover and what I love about this disc is that you're hearing variations on a theme so to speak. In layman's terms - different mixes,(3)different mixes. I like remixes and blending alot. My favorite disc that I can't remove from my CD player and can't get enough of is disc 1. We want more Kenny Dope! Can't stop, Don't stop the party!!!!
retro party essential.......2005-08-04
i dont think u ll find more inspirative and proffessional mixing of disco tracks anywhere else. If u re a fan of dimitri from paris and joey negro, u re gonna love this one. even if u know all the tracks in this compilation, buy this album just for the mixing. (btway, 'disco kings' is not a mixed compilation. its just a collection of rare tracks)
kenny should repeat this one!
SUPERB 70's HAPPY DISCO.......2004-12-02
A lot of people says that disco music is only "noise" but if they only have the chance to listen at this triple cd box they would understand that dance music can be a form of art itself.
I play this album here in Italy (you should have seen the people chatting, smileing, and flirting with this beats!!)and on board cruise ships where I used to work and meanwhie I was organizing crew parties; people there are always parting and are very demanding for good and happy music in order too relese the stress accumulated douring the day passed along snobby people.
You will not find hard beats on these cd's, but beautifull, gently, happy funky house, that takes you back to the beginnings of dance music and it will push you to move your body.
If you like this kind of music than you should go for "Disco Kings", a double cd mixed by Dimitry from Paris and Joy Negro....Marvellous!! (really)
Buyer beware!!.......2004-06-11
I am very angry that I wasted good money on buying this CD on the basis of false information. As a keen fan of Thelma Houston, I bought this album purely to get the unknown track "Here I Go Again". After receiving the CD, I was extremely annoyed to find out that there is no such song - it's just her well-known Motown track "I'm Here Again" (which I already have on CD), under a false name.
If this was originally a genuine mistake, why wasn't it rectified when the album was reissued with new artwork?
There are only a few other good tracks on the album, but I already had those on CD too. The majority of the album is DULL DULL DULL!! Beware!!

Stunning debut!.......2000-03-17
The phenomenon Boney M. started in 1975 when German producer Frank Farian wanted to record the music he really loved, black soul music, instead of the German schlagers the record company wanted him to sing. He cut a simple monotome but infectuous disco record, much in the style of Silver Convention, he distorted his own voice for the lead vocal, and did all the backing vocals in an impressively high falsetto voice. The single "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" was released under the pseudonym Boney M. To his amazement, the single took off in Belgium and Holland, and there was soon a demand for this Boney M. to perform the song on TV. Farian didn't want to do it himself, and gathered some black girls and a boy to lip-sync the song. The line-up varied from month to month but in early 1976, Farian had a line-up he really liked: dancer and former beauty queen Maizie Williams who had stuck with him from the very first line-up, the exotic dancer Bobby Farrell, and two female singers: Liz Mitchell & Marcia Barrett with whom Farian wanted to record the second Boney M. single and an album. "Daddy Cool" was the first "real" Boney M. single, full of gimmicks, opening with Farian playing on his teeth with a pen, as well as "tick-tocking" orally. Farian did the deep-voiced male part of "Daddy Cool" about whom the girls are "crazy like a fool", and when the foursome line-up did an a spectacular performance in German TV-programme "Musikladen" September 1976, the single shot to the top of the German charts immediately, and the rest of Europe followed! The album was also a huge seller everywhere on the continent although it only reached a disappointing #40 in the UK, despite containing two Top 10-singles, probably because of the suggestive cover which has Bobby Farrell looking at the girls, lying in lace on the floor. Besides "Daddy Cool", it also contained the next single, a beautiful cover version of "Sunny" with an absolutely charming lead vocal by Liz Mitchell. The other singer, dark-voiced Marcia Barrett, takes her share on two tracks that were in fact remixes of two songs that Farian had recorded the previous year in German with singer Gilla. Marcia, however, oozes with cool elegance on "Take The Heat Off Me", whereas she really blasts the roof of on the closing track "Lovin' Or Leavin'" which, as another reviewer notes, is a storm of a song, a real gem! (Check out her new 1999 album "Survival" for more! Also available on Amazon) A full-length mix of the debut single "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" is included, as well as a re-make of one of Farian's own songs "Am Samstag Abend" (Saturday Night) which is turned into the incredibly charming reggae title "Got A Man On My Mind", lovingly sung by Liz Mitchell. She also takes the lead on the remaining two cover versions: "Fever", and Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry", and although it's not one of the highlights of the album, it is still a much-loved song to this day. All in all, Boney M.'s debut album is absolutely worth purchasing, as the music still stands the test of time.
two classics of eurodisco.......1999-10-13
boney m's debut album opens with 'daddy cool', an irresistible disco classic; what are the lyrics about? could one read paedophile references here or is that taking it to the limit? anyway, here is also the blazing 'sunny', in my opinion the best version of the jimmy webb classic; the cover of 'no woman no cry' is fine, that of 'fever' less so; the original 'man on my mind' is also nice, but 'lovin' or leavin'' is AWESOME, with marcia barrett on lead, it's an absolute storm of a song, unjustly relegated to the album's end, the rhythm track on this song is an earthquake, with those thundering drum rolls and bedrock bass; 'baby do you wanna bump' is definitely embarassing, and boring; well, the album cover is nice, with lesbian tendencies or what - bobby farell looking on almost shocked by the girls' fun - oh well, its an interpretation
The BEST MUSIC I ever heard.......1999-04-28
I used to listed to the BONEY M during my young days (in 70's, 80's) when my uncle plays in his TapeRecorder. That time all their albums come in cassattes. Now I bought this CD while I was surfing for something else and remembered my young days.
If you like POP-ROCK musics, just buy it ... it is worth buying.

Dance the beat to the disco heat.......2003-02-25
Sylvester's urgent falsetto voice over the hypnotic synths and syndrums made these tracks the ultimate disco club hits of 1978 -both of them made a respectable impression on the sales charts too. Highly infectious and hook-laden, they represent the best of quality disco infused with real soul, unlike a lot of today's impersonal dance music. Dance (Disco Heat) has a spoken intro and impressive sound effects halfway through that resemble a contained electric storm. Although he released albums into the early eighties, Sylvester never again came close to matching these glorious songs.

Good range of tunes........2003-10-05
Note I didn't say great. If you're new to disco, then maybe this isn't the one to get first up. If you're already a fan, then you should enjoy this.
I liked the 3 CD format - it''s interesting to hear how Kenny cut up the tracks on the mix cd. Then you can to the other cds with the origonal tracks to hear them in their entirety. This represents pretty good value for money all up.
A tight funky disco mix with lots of ego.......2003-05-19
I can imagine that DJ's have become a bit afraid to spin dance classics like 'Relight My Fire', 'Hot Shot' or 'I will survive' because you, as the dancing party, immediately zapp back to visions of excruciating office parties where everybody is way too unhappy and wound up to dance anyway. We've heard these songs so often that they're so inflated that their impact is deflated - a geriatric smell wafts from these songs. Kenny Dope avoids all this, stays true to his name and delivers a dope package of not too well known dance classics, that will make your head bob, feet tap, arms swing, brow sweat , hair raise, and skin glow. Although you probably will recognize some songs because they're sampled a lot in neo disco house songs, they sound fresh(er) in their classic form. As a wanna be DJ I liked unmixed disc 2 and 3 more than mixed version 1, because Dope crunches the songs in such an extremely short form that I got a mad disco medley sensation and heartburn, especially because Dope insists on constantly reminding us who's actually doing the daft mixing here: KENNNNYYYY DOOOOOOPE (repeat ad nauseum).
I mean: I KNOW you did it Kenny, I bought your CD man! Time for some ego-trimming.
I recommend these 3 CD's to:
1. Anybody who's in love with classic disco and wants to avoid the cliches.
2. The ones who want to impress other people with their avant garde taste in dance music and their ability to look just a little bit further.
3. All the people who have listened one time too much to Dimitri from Paris' Night at the Playboy Mansion.
Thanks for your attention. Hope I've helped you a bit.
Regards,
Dirk J. Klanker
