Definitely a strong entry in the global groove series.......2006-04-24

Starting off with an edgy, slammin' 11 minute cover of Christopher Cross's Ride Like The Wind" was astounding. Peakin has a lyrical and melody sample that is a resigning of "Big Love" by Fleetwood Mac. Theirs some fierce diva vocal with attitude,and surprisingly, the lectroluv mix of Jocelyn Enriquez "When I Get Close to you' was selected over the Thunderpuss mix, which is a nice change, considering it is equally as driving. "At The Club" by SM Trax is a rip off of their own club hit "got the groove." Things get a little dubby from there, until Music for the Masses comes on, and it's a cheesy hiNRG track which sort of ruined the mix for me. The tracks after that lighten up somewhat, ending on a high, up note (I prefer the first half of the disc). The track times are:

Getting Hot... AC circuits going DC.......2001-02-16

Global Groove has to be the most frustrating CD series ever issued. The cover art, all photographs by David Morgan, are just stellar, but the music is, well, just old and queeny. Someone needs to tell the DJ's at GG that the 1980's ended over a decade ago.

This is the first Disc that seems to be aiming at guys still young enough to dance and mix it up at the Twink-clubs and Circuit Parties. That old flaming disco stuff may have been hot at Studio-54, but this is the age of electronica and XYBOYS who do killer post production work, aurally enhancing songs to make the beats stronger, the tonal separations crisper, and the mixes hotter & cleaner.

"PUSH IT" was a promising and encouraging disc, and its follwo-up "MASK" is even better. One hopes that Global Groove wants to actually SELL discs, instead of just having everyone discuss the cover art. By the way, as long as the topic of cover art is in play: This photography all but demands to be made available as posters. While this is a great music CD from Global Grooves, the mixes have a way to go to catch up with the excitement of the Visuals in the cover art. More hard-edged XY-Boy & Twink mixing, and less ''old disco flamer'' music would sure improve sales I suspect.
