The most desirable Hotel.......2004-04-30

Another solid outing by the Kandi crew.......2003-10-10

The second installment of the Es Vive compilation starts right where the first left off...excessively cool poolside listening. Like the first installment, the first disc is mostly chillout, while the second disc is cool, deep & soulful house. I must say that the second disc clearly is the better one of the two as it is more fluent and the it has more quality through out. Standout tracks from disc 2 are "Love Come Around" by Solu Music, "Take a Small Break" by Problem Kid feat. Shine Eye Girl and "As I Am" by Open Source. Not to say that disc one doesn't have any quality, it has plenty. Standout tracks here are "Hayling" by FC Kahuna, "Onto The Light" by Adani & Wolf feat. Neobe, "Rise" by Bonnie Baiey, and my favorite track from this disc "Searching" by Explorer. The problem I see with disc 1 is that it does not sound as coherent as the second disc. I highly recomend the first installment as well. The best way to listen to it is to hear disc one of The first Es Vive compilation along with disc two of the Es Vive 2003 compilation to get the full vibe of the coolest hotel in Ibiza.

Ibiza.......2006-04-13

Every year Hed Kandi spends time in Ibiza, one of the hottest places to party in the world. Then they release a compilation, with highlights from their shows. There are three discs, one for each part of the day (morning, afternoon, evening). The first disc is mainly chillout, with highlights include Bonnie Bailey's "Trust", Latrice Barnett's "Lessons Learned From Goodbye", Bliss' "Don't Look Back", and many others. Disc two is more danceable, but still kind of laid back. Artists here include Soulshaker fear Lorraine Brown on "Hypnotic, Erotic Games", Lovemakers "The Feeling", Liquid People "Ice Cream Parlour", and many others. Disc three is for when you are getting ready to go to a club. My favorite track here is the remix of Late Night Alumni's "Empty Streets", the Aurora Remix, it's awesome! Other favorites include Peyton's "I'll Rise", BodyRockers "I Like The Way", Armand Van Helden "Into Your Eyes", Seamus Haji's "Angels of Love", and more. Check it out! A great three disc compilation!

The Most Accessible Hed Kandi Disc.......2006-02-21

Hed Kandi discs generally tend to fall into two types:

a) Hard House/Classic House tracks for DIY pro or amateur DJ's and mixologists - these are almost sparse tracks with vocals and some beats but really stripped down ready for the DJ to add the personal touch of what they prefer to drop underneath or mix it into something else. This is not that type of disc.

Or b) Hard House/Classic tracks for the "hardcore" Hard House/Classic fans. They are not particularly accessible - tending to be obscure but consistent in quality and sound. A little ready for actual play but still generally needs a work by a DJ.

This Hed Kandi is almost not for the regular fans ... it is a surprisingly mix of (dare I say it?) pop hard & classic house ... that's right, it's actually pop and unlike Hed Kandi's other discs, this one you can actually just drop into your CD player and hit PLAY. For casual fans of dance music, this probbaly doesn't seem all that radical but it is Hed Kandi discs. So, long time buyers of Hed Kandi discs might be confused that all the work is done on this disc - just hit play but for casual dance fans who want some fun obscure pop hard & classic house tracks, this is a great collection.

Hed Kandi is Da Bomb........2004-07-09

In every single Hed Kandi collection there are always 4 or 5 songs that leave you saying, "OH my gosh!! That song ROCKS!" and what's great is, it's songs that aren't played a hundred zillion times on the radio, so you can shock your friends when you throw a party full of songs they've never heard of, but kick (...)!

In this collection, on disk 1, the HOTT songs are Track 2, 9, and 15 (nine ESPECIALLY) and on disk 2: track 2, 9, and 15..omg I just caught that! I guess Hed Kandi saves the best for 2, 9 and 15! whoa! maybe I just accidently cracked some kind of code... Well anyway, that's 6 kick-(...)songs that kick like no other! all the rest are still good, of course! in fact, way better than good. Great. So, that's 24 GREAT songs and 6 FRICKIN' AWESOME! songs. not bad, heh?

2004 music.......2005-04-05

Disc #2 has some awesome tracks on it- a must have for people who like to dance. Tracks 4 and 5 are the best tracks on this release in my opion. Check out track 13 on disc 2 it's wack and a great song. I also recommend track 14 on disc 2 and track 11 on disc 1, track 11 very dance popish typical but better than the usual Hed Kandi. I don't usually like Hed Kandi releases but his is good stuff.

Base Bar - Only Unmixed Title In The Series.......2004-08-25

Hed Kandi's Mark Doyle has put out a number of compilation series, and the first of the Base Bar series was the pinnacle for the series.
It is the only one that has its tracks unmixed.
All of the subsequent releases in the series were "DJ-mixed", and that brought about a storm of complaints that unfortunately went unheard at Hed Kandi.
I regret that Mark never considered releasing both a mixed and unmixed version of later releases, as I definitely prefer listening to every beat the original remixer intended, rather than listening to a truncated version of it mixed with other tracks.
The Kings of Tomorrow and Depeche Mode tracks alone make this compilation worth purchasing!
Any of the other stellar tracks just make this compilation an even better investment!

Good varierty, but not the best Hed Kandi compilation.......2003-07-24

This complilation has some good tunes, but many of them have been over marketed on other compilations, including other Hed Kandi productions. I don't know if it's just my copy, but some of the songs sound like they were recorded from vinyl, and have scratches and jumps in the middle of songs. If this were a mix, that might be ok, but I think there are many other Hed Kandi cd's out there that would be more worth your money. I would try the first Es Vive compilation.

These people are crazy..........2003-05-21

I don't know what fools were listening and reviewing this CD, but i'm way against the norm here. This CD is so good. The tracks are both soothing and gets you moving too - it just makes you happy! Since I have been to Ibiza and specifically the bar Base Ibiza, i can tell you it captures the essence of this amazing island better than those "CLASSIC TRANCE" compilations. Overall, this CD is great and you better listen to those clips before you buy.

Chill by the pool.......2005-04-23

This is a nice compilation to compliment the Hotel Es Vive Ibiza. Hed Kandi has taken on the job of compiling the songs and Mark Doyle does a good job. The album is a mix of BEACH HOUSE and WINTER CHILL in terms of sound. 26 tracks in all spread out over 2 discs. Highlights include "Why" by Therese, "Shade of Summer" by Cathi Ogden and Dead Stereo, Kaskade's "Let You Go", Fac 15 feat Cathi Ogden "Blue Skies", Kings of Tomorrow feat Haze "Dreams", and many more. Overall a nice album to chill out and relax to.

DISAPPOINTED.......2004-10-05

this was my first hed kandi purchase and i must say it wasnt what i expected. i was looking for some good downtempo/funky/souful stuff but this is just generic chillout music with shallow vocals.

i may give another hed kandi title a shot, but this one was very blah. save your cash, folks.
