The release of Sheryl Crow's "The Very Best Of" in October 2003 showcased a true talent in rock music which had reigned for 10 years. From 1993 to 2003, the album was a collection of Crow's best material from four studio albums. The early material from "Tuesday Night Music Club" was evident, where songs such as "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Strong Enough" brought about a striking combination of rock pop and hints of folk and country. The advanced rock pop of her self-titled second album with hits such as "Everyday Is A Winding Road" and "If It Makes You Happy" formed the backbone of the collection, with "My Favorite Mistake" and "Soak Up The Sun" the more recent hits adding to the already sizeable chunk of Crow's body of work.

The album has gone on to sell almost three million copies in America and more than 600,000 in the UK. These sales will add to Crow's already impressive world sales of 15 million considerably and will see her continue long into the future. The Very Best Of also featured a few new tracks. The lead single was "The First Cut Is The Deepest," a cover version of the Cat Stevens original. I didn't like this song very much, but there was another new song on the album called "Light In Your Eyes" which I bloody love! The song is funky, upbeat and very happy. It reminds me of the singles from Sheryl's second album, because the guitars just sweep along.

The song opens with drums and guitars aplenty. Sheryl starts singing the first verse, "Something is happening, everything's different but everything is fine, yeah! This is the good stuff. Yesterday's only what you leave behind. It's only in your mind." This rather brief and simple first verse is followed by the catchy chorus, where Sheryl sings, "You gotta talk to the one who made you, talk to the one who understands. Talk to the one who gave you all that light in your eyes. All that light in your eyes." The second verse then starts and Sheryl sings, "There's no use pretending. You never existed until you saw the light, yeah! Well you're just beginning. You haven't missed it, it's all ahead of you. And you know what to do."

The drums then float a little bit before the second chorus begins and you really hear, for a brief second, the catchiness of this song. Sheryl then sings the second chorus before a beautiful bridge where she sings, "Here comes the world and she is beautifully mysterious. She's got it all and you say 'Give it to me!'" A short instrumental then plays before the song dies down and Sheryl sings, "Nobody's happy. That's not the world I knew inside. Where everybody hides." Sheryl then sings the chorus again a few times before finishing the song off with "Yeah, thank you, thank you! Yeah, everything great and small! Yeah, thank you, thank you, for the light in your eyes. Yeah, thank you, thank you. Yeah, everything great and small. Yeah, thank you, thank you, for the light in your eyes. For the light in your eyes."

The song then ends and always leaves me feeling happy about life. Does Sheryl have some sort of religious significance hidden in the lyrics? Who can say - all I know is that it's a celebration of life, and we should embrace it. I haven't seen a video for this song and I'm not sure if one was made, but if one wasn't, one should have been because this song is great. Sheryl's vocals are softer and more rounded on this song than they are on some of her other songs where her voice is grittier and more raw. Overall a fantastic song which I'm sure I'll be listening to for years to come.

Estaba buscando musica como esta que hoy en día está muy escasa, exelentes canciones y acompañamiento de rock melódico, se los recomiendo ampliamente para la gente que le gusta Journey, Night Ranger , Survivor.
Escuche por primera vez de Josh Ramos en el grupo Two Fires y me di cuenta de su calidad, estaba seguro que no me iba a decepcionar, si tienes la oportunidad de comprarlo no lo pienses, hazlo ya

Josh Ramos has certainly paid his dues as the ax-man for Two Fires, the Storm, and others, and now has finally released his own solo record. The strengths of this release are obvious: Mark Weitz's singing is above-par for this genre and has a slight edge to it; Kelly Hansen's production is first-rate and expansive; and Ramos himself is on fire throughout most of the tracks. This is the most inspired playing I've heard from him. Really, the only negative is that the songs are pretty standard stuff. I really like "Living in the Light," "Don't Go" and a few others, but there's nothing new or even terribly exciting on here. This is a solid, not spectacular release.

Even though Jeff Lynne is not is this line up the other original members are and what an incredible album it is. They do they music justice. For those of us not fortunate enough to get to see ELO live this i must say is a really good live album. The only other live albums were from 1976 and they do not have great concert sound. If you are a fan of ELO this is an album to have. Im sure this album wont be around for much longer (what a shame) and this is one you dont want to miss. Lots of fun and memories here!!

On May 28, 2000, I had the opportunity of seeing ELO Part II in concert at Jupiter, Florida. The layout of the songs played at the concert was almost identical to the songs of this CD. The concert was extraordinary, and there is no better way to remember the concert than this CD. I'm 38 years old and since I was 15 I've listen to ELO. The performance of the band in concert, and reflected in this CD, was outstanding!! The music sounded like the original ELO with Jeff Lynn. But, remember friends, composers and singers come and go; the ELO music was almost completely written by Jeff Lynn, BUT HE IS GONE, and ELO II sounded as wonderful as the original band. If you like the old ELO, you will love this record, because it reflects the mithycal sound that made ELO's music unique.

Whoever said this was an imitation, well this is not Mr.. ELO Part II was formed back in 1990 by Bev Bevan (ex-drummer) after Jeff Lynne left the band. However, Mik Kaminski's violin is still shines and Louis Clark's arrangements make possible for ELO Part II to preserve the essence and brightness of the original Electric Light Orchestra, although they do it with fewer and newer members, who are all excellent musicians though. The song selection is excellent. Overall, THIS IS WHAT I CALL SOME QUALITY MUSIC (I am 18 years old). This is an excellent purchase at a great price. I definitely recommend it.

I had hoped that this was the original ELO with Jeff Lynne .... but was disappointed that this is a live album of a tribute band when it was touring under the name ELO Part II. Not bad, but not the original!
