This was probably one of the first 5 electronic cd's i ever bought in the late 90's and the breaks are so raw that i still play them at my club. They are a bit too minimal to be heard alone now because it is mostly drums (probably a 909) and synth so i usually play it over top another track and it ALWAYS gets a good reaction. Its exceptionally good over a trance track that is lacking THAT special somethin'.

If you like raw bouncy emotional breaks this is a must have for your collection and it is one of the few old breaks cd's that are still relavent.

icey's full length comes up short.......2001-05-23

a respectable dj, remixer, and producer, icey has a cult following in the florida scene and all over the world. i wasn't really disappointed by this album, since i didn't think it was going to be any good in the first place. i'm not too into the florida breaks type of music, and that hasn't changed. there are a few good tracks on here, but they pretty much all sound the same. the drum beats and breaks are almost all identical, and that gets a little boring. if you like icey's style, buy this release. if you don't, buy adam freeland's tectonics, and thank me later!

the bomb, for dancing fools.......2001-04-15

I was at a rave in N.O. a few years ago and rabbit, icey and many others were, but Icey tore up the Palace. He was by far the best. No one else has such and ear for the funkiest beats. He brought the Palace back on their feet. And "Eased the Roll Back Up" if you dont have it get it. If you havent herd it hear it. If you love to house, ROLL the album.

A raver's classic! My friends and I go clubbing all the time and hear the latest trance and techno. But when we continue the party at home, this is always the CD we break out to get us back up! Just when you think you're 'done' for the night-throw this in and get ready to bring the beat back up til it hits ya!

Well, I have don't know how I can explain Icey's sound. He is the only DJ out there with this type of sound. He has the best beats I've ever heard. Maybe his girl Baby Anne is the only other DJ kinda like him. You've just gotta get it. It's like no other.

Bangin Miami Breaks.......2001-12-14

This a great compilation of old school Miami Bass Breakbeat. I love this cd but must warn all interested that it is not mixed. I try not to buy albums that just contain tracks but this one is worth it. You're never going to find it at the local record store so break down and buy it NOW sucka.

Pristine sample of Florida's Scene.......1999-08-30

I've borrowed this CD from a friend (more than once) and had a hard time giving it back every time. This CD is a perfect example of the music found at the clubs and raves of Florida's (Sunshine State) scene. I've got many many techno/electronica CDs as it's my music genre of choice, and this would be one of the top 10 (once I buy it. :) If you're new to techno or a "back-in-the-day-old-skool" raver, you've got to pick this up.. All tracks are great. Enjoy!

My single most favorite techno CD that exists!!!.......1998-10-17

Despite having heard many many dance, techno, and elektronika artists, this CD is the most perfect example of true music that I have ever heard. Whoever made this CD knows what WE like and knows how to put it into a fine compilation. I recomment this one to all.

Brilliant, expansive post-rock.......2000-12-04

This album is in the vein of Mogwai et al; songs that take a while to unfold, with interesting and repetitive guitar textures. It is difficult to describe why this sort of album works or does not work: some groups can pull this off and some can't, but describing exactly why full negative (or) breaks is such a great record is quite difficult. Imagine the bits of long-form Yo La Tengo songs where Ira stops singing for quite some time and just drones blissfully instead, mixed with the best parts of Mogwai's Young Team and you'll have something of an approximation of what's going on here. The guitar lines mutate and change slowly, moving between quiet arpeggios and sheets of noise. This is, I think, the sort of mood that Mogwai was reaching for on Come On Die Young (although Full Negative (or) Breaks is more rockin' than that album); I didn't think that Mogwai succeeded on that disk, but here Bright have given us a new landmark in this dreamy, drony area of post-rock. It's too bad that they're relatively obscure, because this disk deserves to be heard by many people. Also, I'd bet that Bright are a hell of a lot of fun live.

Weird Wacky Wonderful!.......2001-05-16

Just happened to hear a sample of Kid Spatula on Spinner.com and it soon became an obsession to find out who this Kid was. My difficulty in finding out very much made me more intrigued. I just had to purchase this CD. WOW! from blackouts and nose bleeds to neck tingling jingles this CD has it all. With no logical flow to the genre (but that's why it's fun), a combination of hard drum and bass, techno style beats to some soft enchanting colourful melodies. I just play it over and over. Buy it!

Witty and Warped.......2001-03-06

After the beautiful success of µ-ziq's "Royal Astronomy" we can only guess that Mike Paradinas needed to go incognito for this round. Using his alter ego Kid Spatula he delivers this blend of bleeps, breaks, and catchy jingles that only he can make. With haunting melodies that are mixed with ear peircing beats "Full Sunken Breaks" satisfies my addiction to intellegent dance music (or whatever you want to call it). Of course not all works of genius get away with being perfect. Some song like "xxx", "manfright", and "full sunken breaks" remind me of the old µ-ziq albums "Bluff Limbo" or Urmur Bile Trax", loud, hard to follow and not the quality of work that we hear from him today. But if you like that sort of thing then those songs are the best he has done in that nature. Now the highlights of the album, everything, honestly. The sounds seem to bob around in your head making you smile. You may even be amazed by the way Mike Paradinas seves to us his music, witty, wild and warped. "kid spatulet" "nordy" and "another fresh style" are the brightest stars in this universe of bleeps, breaks, and catchy jingles. Worth every penny.

Majestic.......2000-05-12

This is U-Ziq's new album, albeit under a new alias. Kid Spatula, a perfect name for an artist who makes music that feels like a spatula scraping excess, funky beats on the lid of your head. U-Ziq's Royal Astronomy was very nice, with elements and hints of very cinematic melodies and harmonies. That quality is emphasized on Full Sunken Breaks. Together with elements of big beat electronica ala Chemical Bros and hip hop like Mos Def and RZA, Full Sunken Breaks is a perfect expressive work of art that stands alone and is a testament to the convergence of musical, melodical, and cultural influences.

There are several wonderful works on this seventh installment of the Music Masters series of historic Stravinsky recordings. Probably the most famous is Stravinsky's jazz take on the Faust legend, The Soldier's Tale. There are other delights as well: his arrangement of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem, for solo violin; his serene Mass setting; the childlike Cat's Lullabies; and Monument, a homage to the notorious Italian Renaissance composer Gesualdo. Killer Collection.......1999-08-25

DJ Mot mixes it up with his first solo album Monster Breaks, and proving true to the Orlando DJ scene, he pulls it off with style. Probably one of the best dj cd's out there, and way up there with the likes of DJ Icey and DJ Dan. I've seen him on the local club scene, and this compilation proves that Mot is one of the most talented djs around. You must have this cd.
