5 out of 5 stars "Lil' Wyyyyte!!!!".......2007-06-28

I agree with all the other reviews of this album...Just do me a favor and have alot of highway ahead of you when u put this in your cd-player...It's just marva-lous...Songs like "Get High"(listen to the violins) makes me feel glad to be alive and free..They move my soul.. "Suicide" (when it's 2:00 A.M) and your on the road by yourself, just ridin, chillin, headin to the house or something, and "Fu*k'd Up", (when you reachin your destination of your road-trip).Ima HUGE Hypnotize Mindz fan, Three 6 fan, etc.. Got ALL they muzik, even some underground.. I only wish 106 & Park, BET, MTV, etc would give Three 6 the credit they deserve, but their music is targeted to a specific group of people ( Real Niggas) not EVERYBODY like that bull-**** that's out there now.... Sorry.....uhh,, BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars You Thought Your Boy Done Overdosed!.......2007-06-27

As the Hypnotize Minds label (and Three 6 Mafia specifically) gets thinner and thinner, there is still talent left on their short roster. Lil Wyte, a mostly underground MC who broke through with tracks like "Oxycotton" and "Acid", has remained very consistent with his music. Even though his "hits" probably never got play on the radio, you can almost guarantee every dirty south Hip-Hop fan knows the name Lil Wyte. With two successful albums already under his belt (2003's "Doubt Me Now" and 2004's "Phinally Phamous"), Wyte is back with his 3rd studio album, "The One and Only". As always, DJ Paul and Juicy J are behind the boards to deliver the raw production that they always come with. Rather suprisingly, Lil Wyte doesn't have guests on the album, with the exception of Project Pat on three cuts where he's on the chorus. Other than that, it's just Lil Wyte doing his thing.

Some of the standout cuts on here are "Feelin' Real Pimpish" with Project Pat delivering a perfect chorus, and the laid back production really compliments Wyte's flow well. "I Got That Candy" has a smooth chorus with Wyte giving his ode to candy paint. "Suicide" is a track where Wyte spits fire about how he feels and how he wants to end his life. "Get Wrong" has that intensity you're going to feel when listening to a Lil Wyte album, and so does "Choppa On Da Back Seat", "We Ain't Cool", and "Talking Ain't Walking". He delivers his mandatory drug raps on "F***** Up", "Get High", "Do It Fluid". He lets you know he has paper on "Cake" and "Gettin Money Boy". I really can't say there is a bad song on here. If you're a fan of Hypnotize Minds and Three Six Mafia, then pick up Lil Wyte's third album. It won't disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER HCP CLASSIC.......2007-06-16

Closing out the second half of 2005 just as its predecessor Mesmerize closed out the first, Hypnotize completes System of a Down's finest hour to date. The two albums form a lean and nearly perfect whole that places this Los Angeles collective in league with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins and Pink Floyd. System has created an enduring body of work that challenges conventional notions about the nature of the contemporary rock album. More practically, they have given listeners a fine second act that attacks and attacks hard, inspiring as much headbanging as vintage Metallica and as thought-provoking as the Minutemen and the Dead Kennedys. (Vocalist Serj Tankian's barbaric yawp sometimes calls to mind head Kennedy Jello Biafra.)

The album's first half features the most brutal, perfect and direct rock `n' roll that's come down the old mainstream this year: "Attack," "Kill Rock `n' Roll," "Tentative" and "U-Fig" lead the charge while "Holy Mountains" gracefully moves us toward this epic's final challenging moments. Latter tracks such as "She's Like Heroin" (Frank Zappa's idea of The Three Penny Opera) and "Lonely Day" fail to maintain the intensity heard early on but not don't prevent Mesmerize and Hypnotize from coming together as one of the most definitive heavy rock albums of the decade. --Jedd Beaudoin

5 out of 5 stars Hypnotize, by System of a Down.......2007-05-13

This cd is excellent. Every song on it is a winner. I love it.

5 out of 5 stars System does it again.......2007-04-12

System Of A Down started of with their debut self-titled which was ok, and then they released Toxicity. Phenomenal album. They then released Steal This Album! and then Mezmerize. Now Hypnotize, which is everything that Mezmerize was, but not as good. SoaD's vocalist Serj Tankian is one of the best I have ever heard, and the guitarist Daron Malakian is excellent and he also participated more in the vocals in Mezmerize and Hypnotize than any of their other albums. Shavo Odadjian, System's bassist. Phenomenal. Thats all i have to say. John Dolmayan is one of the best drummers of all time. Man, HE CAN PLAY, JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE BAND!!!!!!!!!! Hypnotize is a must buy for longtime SoaD fans, and if you are a new SoaD fan I suggest that you buy Mezmerize and Hypnotize together, 2 excellent albums good for newcomers.

5 out of 5 stars My introduction to S.O.A.D........2007-03-27

I saw a lot of people at school wearing shirts / hats / backpacks with the system of a down logo on them. So I listened to B.Y.O.B., and loved it. Then for some reason I ended up going with this CD even though it didn't have BYOB; sometime this past summer's when I got it. - I LOVE THIS CD -

I now have all of System's Cds, but this is still my absolute favorite.

Attack - 9/10 - Politically bashing lyrics, awesome guitar riffs, great high-speed song. A good introduction to the album.

Dreaming - 9.5/10 - A really cool song. I love the music. I like the 'dreaming of screaming' part.

Kill Rock n' Roll - 7.5/10 - Kind of a pointless song, but it's...okay, I guess.

Hypnotize - 9/10 - I like this song a lot. It's talking about TV ads brainwashing us, and I agree.

Stealing Society - 8.5/10 - The first half is good, but the part where they keep repeating 'looking for a mother...' is pretty bad.

Tentative - 10/10 - My favorite song on this CD, and one of my faves by System. The chorus is depressing, but powerful "we're going down/in a spiral to the ground/no one's gonna save us now/not even God"

U-fig - 7/10 - I don't care too much for this song.

Holy Mountains - 10/10 - Oh yeah I love this one too!! It's so cool. it reminds me of the show Inuyasha.

Vicinity of Obscenity - 8.5/10 - This is a pretty fun song, with a cool beat. I love the 'banana terracota pie' thing.

Lonely Day - 8/10 - Eh, this one's alright. I don't no what possessed them to release this as a single. It's nothing like the rest of their music at all. It seems like a song that's trying to be sad and emotional, but S.O.A.D. really can't pull that off. Sorry to break it to you, guys.

Soldier Side - 9/10 - This song is sad just because of its topic. It's about young men dying in wars and waiting for Jesus to save them. I like this song a lot, but it's a little depressing.

3 out of 5 stars Depends on what you like about System..........2007-03-22

Its true, whether or not you will love this album, I think, has to do with which part of System you like more. If you are like me and tend to like the faster, funnier, thrashier side of System's style of rock more than their alternative, mellencollie, more serious side, then buy Mezmerize instead of Hypnotize. I don't think this album was a failure compared to Mez, but I thought it wasn't as good. Hypnotize certainly wasn't nearly as fun or kickass. This album did have some decent headbanging tracks on it, but they are not as well written or as energetic as the Mez headbanging tracks. What this album did best is put out more of the good, soulful alternative rock based tracks System puts in everyone of their albums. Hypnotize is by far the best track, comparably as good as Aerials and Spiders. Lonely Day was pretty good too. But everything else was either half way decent(kill rock n roll) or bland and very similar to other mediocre System songs (tentative, attack, ect). What I love about both of these albums is how System hasn't lost their talent for catchy, memorable songs. They both have some not-so-great songs (Vicinity, Old School Hol.), and Darron's singing can get really annoying occasionally, like in Kill Rock. The lyrics were a bit more thoughtful than Mez though. They are more comparable to Toxicity. But overall this ain't a bad album, just not their best.

4 out of 5 stars Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right.......2007-03-09

I'll be the first to admit that Mezmerize was a mild letdown. Needless to say I didn't rush out to buy Hypnotize. It kills me that they would put Daron Malakian in charge of a majority of the vocals when you have a truly incredible vocalist like Serj in your band. Serj made this band for me all those years ago and continues to be my favorite part of System Of A Down. However, after countless listens to not only Mezmerize, but also Hypnotize, I can honestly say that I'm thoroughly impressed.

System Of A Down have always been ahead of their time. Serj's insane vocal-stylings boggle your mind at times, the lyrics are always strangely intricate, and the music never fails to get your blood rushing. Those things haven't changed a bit.

Attack is the most reminescent of the older System stuff thanks to the excellent sing-along quality of the chorus. Dreaming shows Daron's vocal ability off quite well, particularly towards the end of the track. Hypnotize has great dual-vocals with great lyrics and music. Tentative is one of the few tracks where Serj conquers the running time and, as expected, he commands your attention. Holy Mountains serves as the best song, along with Attack. The beginning is quite haunting until you get to the intense chorus. Vicinity Of Obscenity is your typical strange SOAD track, much like This Cocaine... was on Mezmerize.

My favorite songs are Attack, Hypnotize, Tentative, Holy Mountians, and Vicinity Of Obscenity. Hypnotize was far from an instant hit with me so if you're anything like me and dismissed this after the first couple listens I definitely recommend going back and giving it a few more detailed listens. This is still SOAD and all the elements that made them so amazing are still prominent. So yeah, if you've yet to hear this check it out.

When I first heard this album, I swear I did not know that he was caucasian. I should have figured from his name, but hey, we all make mistakes. Lil Whyte is truly a unique artist, everything from the way he raps to how he delivers is just crazy! I like the way he introduces his album with a definite head and body banging track. This album is definitly one to grab if you are into that "rugged south" muzik. As a matter of fact, other than Vanilla Ice (excuse me for comparing the two) Lil Whyte is paving the way for caucasian rap artists.

5 out of 5 stars system of a down is just getting better..........2006-01-28

...which is hard to do when your already the best band in the world. People who respond negatively to this CD do not appreciate the genious that Daron is. Either that or they haven't listened to anything but "Hypnotize" (the song). This is possibly the best album that soad has produced out of their 5 total cds.

4 out of 5 stars could be better, could be worse..........2006-01-15

well, it could have been better. with that said, all in all it was pretty good, even though, other than "Steal this Album!" which wasnt really an album because it was just a bunch of unreleased songs by the band, it was probably the worst album of the lot, but it wasnt bad. strange as that sounds, it's true, it's a good album, but it's the worst by the band, in my opinion. that's still saying that it's a really really good album though. the dvd side is alright, if you can hook up a stereo to the tv for better sound it's cool because it's like listening to the album with a picture with it. the "making of" is a bit strange though, it's not really about making it. it's just a bunch(actually only like 15 minutes) of footage of the band, but only about 3-5 minutes talking about the album.

4 out of 5 stars good cd, but bad format.......2005-12-19

I've never heard of a cd that doesn't work with all cd players. I was disappointed to find out that my home player won't play it. I think they should make a law that says in order for bands/producers to sell their cd's, they should make it work on all cd players. Luckily, it works on my portable cd player. I haven't tried the one at work yet, but I'm crossing my fingers. Otherwise, GREAT!!

5 out of 5 stars Mezmerize/Hypnotize - 2 of the best CDs of '05.......2005-12-14

What a great $%#$@! band! I can't say enough about them. The biggest difference in Mezmerize/Hypnotize compared to their previous CDs is that Daron Malakian is singing more, which is extremely cool because you have two singers going back and forth on a lot of the songs. The lyrics on both CDs don't make much sense, which anyone who has heard the CDs, would know..! lol. Some songs have goofy lyrics with maybe a line or two that grab you like 'where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?' on "Tentative"... other songs that make no sense is "Radio/Video" but just listening to the melody in the song you forget that and just really take notice of how unusual the music and singing are, I often play certain songs over and over because of that just like I did with 'Toxicity'. And who would've thought a song about celebrity softball would be so catchy, singing 'Tony Danza cuts in line' on "Old School Hollywood." "Lonely Day" is perhaps one of the standouts on the CD because of the raw lyrics and sad melody - it could easily be played at a funeral of a person that you will be missing after they are put to rest with lyrics like 'and when you die/I want to die with you/such a lonely day/the most lonliest day of my life'. HEAVY. The DualDISC was a letdown because the documentary, to me, was too 'Arty F@rty' and it reminded me of a lame student film by a college student and showed nothing normal or comprehendable for almost the entire running time. I watched it once and will never play it again. Mezmerize/Hypnotize are 2 of the best CDs to come out of 2005. Great band, I hope they are around for a long time. A very unique band.

5 out of 5 stars Drop top caddie!.......2005-12-06

The second half is here finally. SOAD's "Hypnotize" is pure marketing genius. Who would of "thunk it" by splitting this two CD set and selling each half at separate times? I think the ultimate plan came out of the recording sessions by the band.

"Hypnotize" DualDisc is worth the price of admission. There is a big difference on the enhanced stereo sound of the DVD. The songs tend to jump out and clarify. I really didn't know there was a difference until I played it in my home digital surround sound system. Awesome clarity! I first played the CD side in my trucks system and thought it was a great sound. But after the home system sound was revealed how could I ever play this CD side again. As a bonus the artwork of both albums are revealed when playing the DVD songs.

The DVD contains a behind the scenes of the making of both "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize." This one was perplexing because of the quality of the scenes shot. The scenes were of fuzzy and hidden like camera angles? It was like when you first got a digital camera and was shooting the different styles of filters. That was difficult to watch. But the interaction with the band was priceless. They are discussing the lyrics and meaning of the songs. The "BYOB" and "Question!" videos are awesome on a digital player.

Okay, the songs of "Hypnotize." SOAD starts the "Attack" on the first track. Then into "Dreaming", "Kill Rock N Roll" and "Hypnotize." All of these are consistent with SOAD's sound. The expermention still exists with "Stealing Society", "Tentative", "U-Fig" and "Holy Mountains." The bizarre "Vicinity of Obscenity" and the drug related song "She's Like Heroin." Then it is time to chill with a slower pace with the relatable "Lonely Day" and the long awaited complete "Soldier Side" ends "Hypnotize" but starts "Mezmerize." This is a vintage SOAD CD.

SOAD's DualDisc was worth the extra price because of the enhanced stereo sound. But I shopped around and got a price well below the CD only price.

This is the third album released by Walker (1995), and follows 'Clay Walker' and 'If I Could Make A Living.' His first two (and his latest, 'Live, Laugh, Love') albums mix styles and mix them well. But in so doing, fans are likely to relate to some styles more than others; at least that's been true for me.

I LOVE this album, from the first song through the last. Only three of the songs from this album made the 'Greatest Hits' CD: the title song, 'Only On Days That End In Y' and 'Who Needs You Baby.' So if Walker fans want to enjoy the other eight 'nuggets,' they should buy 'Hypnotize The Moon.'

Who said New Englanders can't appreciate great Country? This album is Solid Gold!

1 out of 5 stars Typical Clay Walker.......1999-09-20

Clay Walker is a good country singer, but his albums lack quality. There are usually only 2-4 good songs on his albums, and those are the ones we hear on the radio. Whoever is responsible for putting his albums together mostly puts fillers in for the rest of the songs on the albums. You will only enjoy the album if you are a definite Clay Walker fan, otherwise buy your favorite singles from him.

4 out of 5 stars The Best Yet.......1999-06-13

Clay Walker has done it again. Hypnotize the Moon is the best yet ranging from songs like Who Needs You Baby to A Cowboys Toughest Ride and Love Me Like You Love Me(the best song on the album).Clay Walker is totally awesome and he deserves all the credit he gets.

4 out of 5 stars Triple 6.......Screwed and Chopped.....Bout time........2006-12-06

This cd is great. I've been a fan since '98 and I live in NY. This album is pretty much a little bit of Triple 6 Mafia Volume 1,2,3, DJ Paul Vol. 16, and Chronicles of the Juice Manne. What makes this album worth buying if you already have those albums is the Screwed and Chopped disc. DJ Black does a good job with it, even though I beleive his best screwed and chopped job was Lil' Wyte's Phinnally Phamous. Also the first track is some what new. It came from the CRAZYNDALAZDAYZ album of the Tear Da Club Up Thugs. It was a skit just before Push'Em Off and you can only hear the hook, so getting the full song is a good treat for all the fans. For all the fans its a must have, for fresh meat listeners this why Three 6 are most known unknowns....15 years of madness and i hope Lord Infamous comes back in '07.

4 out of 5 stars For fans of old school triple six, a fantastic album.......2006-11-27

This cd is truly a great collection of old school tracks. Everybody who is interested in this knows exactly what their getting into - hardcore, dark and atmospheric beats with great flows from Lord Infamous, DJ Paul, and the rest of the crew. This era of Three 6 is definitely one of the most bleak, references to satan, murder, and of course Liquor and Bud.

That being said, there is flaws to this disc. The "bonus" track is kind of tacky, on Ridin in the Chevy, portions are bleeped out because they dont want to give recognition to past members, and some of the screwed and chopped remixes are not well done. Overall this disc is certainly worth it and I think a must have for hardcore Three 6 fans, especially Mysticstylez era fans.

5 out of 5 stars not what i expected but still satified.......2006-10-31

most of the tracks ive already heard but the dragged n chopped version made it worth it. there is never any old 36 screwed i am a big fan of screw, but for those who just listen to the new 36 this is a good mix and for those who have heard all the 36 there is one new track ive never heard and front page version ive never heard overall a good cd for any 36 fan

4 out of 5 stars Crunchy Black Bringin Tha Heat.......2007-03-07

Id hafta say, when i got a first look at all the comments and reviews of "On My Own", i was really skeptical about buying this album. But since i was gonna get all of HCP's albums anyways, i decided to pick Crunchy's up as well. Now im not gonna lie...its not as good as it could have been. I honestly believe that the original project "From Me To You: The Hard Way" would have been better since it would have prolly featured more of HCP/Prophet's finest. But none the less, for Crunchy, and note the for Crunchy part, its a good album all together. The Super Producers Paul and J do an amazing job with the beats, as usual, and Crunchy brings the heat with it. The only things I did not like was the low number of HCP members (being only Boogeymane) appearing on this album but to make things worse, the verse on the last track where Boogey only appears is the verse takin from Most Known Unknown's "Hard Hittaz". so in that sense it was disappointing. But overall, if youre an Hypnotize Camp fan, and like Crunchy's style, go cop this album.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Beats.......2007-02-26

Although this album only has twelve songs, Cruchy Black of three six mafia definately brings it on. Each of the twelve songs have a unique, consistant, and head banging texture. If you don't mind extreme explicit lyrics and enjoy systematic rhymes, then this album should be a nice addition to your collection.

4 out of 5 stars Decent but they definitely jacced him.......2007-02-13

Alrighty Crunch was as some other reviewer said down from day one with three 6, he had some of the tightest verses on Choices and there was also an underground bootleg called "The Blacness" which is much better than this album... but all that being said, despite the lazy production and the "goodbye/f off" that DJ Paul/Juice man gave Crunch, this still has some real sicc verses and songs. Worth ordering for a three 6 fan, not hateable.

2 out of 5 stars Three Six Is About To Fall Off!!!.......2006-11-08

If you dont believe that u stupid as hell. They made a song with Justin Timberlake and Bow Wow. Thats evidence enough. Then the beats they been putin out been pure garbage. Everybody they've gotten rid of gonna come back together and throw 3-6 out the window. its inevitable. Crunchy been down since day one though... they didnt have to do it like that.

3 out of 5 stars Crunchy Black - One Album HCP Has Ripped Off On!!!.......2006-10-24

This album is the weakest from the HCP camp... I am very disappointed on this album cause I think that Juicy J and DJ Paul just put this album out in a hurry just to make money since Crunchy Black left Three 6 Mafia. I feel that they ripped Crunchy Black off on this album cause he have been waiting for a long time to release a tight HCP album like they produced the platinum-plus albums in the past. This album doesn't sound like their albums they done in the past. I expected for this album to be harder, but the production on the album is tight, but the quality of the album is poor.

I also feel that the HCP camp ripped Crunchy Black like they did with Gangsta Boo, LaChat, T-Rock, Koopsta Knicca, Playa Fly and every body who left HCP in the past.

I was a big fan of Three 6 Mafia until I heard Crunchy Black had left the group. Three 6 Mafia is not the same any more. I going to see how they will do with Project Pat's forthcoming album expecting to come soon.

4 out of 5 stars I thought this cd was new........2006-06-20

I got this a week ago. When I first saw it I thought it was a new release. But apparently it is a couple of years old. I thought I new of every hipnotized mind and prophet posse release I never heard of this. On to the cd it is a solid release. It is not as good as there older material, but still it is aggresive this is right before they sold out and became pop. This maybe there last hard hard core release. The problem with there newer release is they have lost that addictive edge that they once had. The beats are good but are not special or hipnotic, or mystical. You have to be a fan for a long time or a person that is aware of there older material. The question I have is how did they hook up with fiend. Contrary to what people say he does sound good raping to these beats. I can only recomend this to triple six fans it is not bad and if you are curious get it but three six fans will like it more. If you like fiend get his no limit release there is one in every family that thing cranks one of the rare good NL cd's. Peace

4 out of 5 stars Solid Release.......2006-06-01

This is a pretty good album. All the beats are really good. This is more like a 3 6 mafia featuring Fiend. What I mean is Fiend doesnt really show as much of himself in this album as he does in his other releases. 3 six mafia on this record are like how they normally are so if you like them then cop this album. Fiend comes correct on this album but hes doesnt get too personal which i think is a strong point for him usually. But he rips all his verses and his flow is really good. While Fiend sounds good on this album, he sounds a little out of place on sometimes on the Memphis beats. But its a great cd, it definately bumps and thats all that should be expected from this cd.

5 out of 5 stars THEY DID IT AGAIN - WHAT A SUPERGROUP.......2003-05-17

awesome album, best cuts have to be "U See We Poe", "Get Da F... Out My Face" and "It's Gon Be Sum Sh..". a MUST-BUY for any rap music fan

4 out of 5 stars triple six mafia presents....stregth.......2003-05-10

from the start of this cd till the end there is one thing that remains a constant... this album is great. i would of gave it 5 starts but there seems to be something ou of place with it...oh yeah FIEND... no disrespect to fiend who is a talented artist just his flow doesnt mesh well with the super producers. dj paul drops in your face verses, strong as they are hardcore, and juicy j follows with a pretty good verbal slaughter on the mic, fiend though talented falls short, however not enough to ruin the album. this is a cd that should be put on your list, and if you like the post world domination style of three-6 youll love this album

    3 out of 5 stars CRUNK ALBUM.......2004-04-14

This album is good, but not great. "Get The F*** Out My Face" is one of the dopest songs in a long time. Some of the other songs just seem like filler. If you like Three 6 Mafia defenitely pick this up and you will be pleased.

THIS ABOUT ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS THAT THREE 6 MAFIA
HAVE MADE.THE SONGS ON THE ALBUM IS CRUNK LIKE ALWAYS.
IT GOT ALOT OF CRUNK SONGS ON THERE(WHERE THEY HANG,
    RUFFEST N***** OUT,HEADBUSSAZ,& U SEE WE POE).THEY
JUST ABOUT HAD EVERYBODY ON THE ALBUM,BUT THEY DIDN'T
HAVE MY BOYZ LIL WYTE AND LORD INFAMOUS.THREE 6 MAFIA
IS SO UNDER-RATED.WAIT UNTIL "DA UNBREAKABLES" ALBUM
COME OUT THEN YOU SEE HOW THREE 6 MAFIA GET DOWN.

5 out of 5 stars Hot Album From HCP.......2003-07-01

If you're into Three 6 Mafia, Fiend or Southern music in general, you should pick this up. A lot of people probably slept on this because its just another side project from Juice and Paul. But it so much more than that. Great club songs on this one (Where They Hang, Get The F Out My Face) and a good handful of crunk tracks (as usual). The only problem with the album is theres no Lord Infamous guest track. Everyone from HCP except Lil Wyte (even Project Pat is on here) is on a track. Don't know why he was excluded. This was the thing that held me over till Unbreakables came out. Pick it up, you won't regret it.
