Jean F. Cochois, a.k.a. Timewriter, has been involved with music since he began lessons at age 10. Both his classical training and European background figure prominently in this collection's sound. Rhythm, melody, tempo, instrumentation, texture, and contrast are all effectively explored over the disc's 15 tracks. Each cut can be taken separately or as a progression through mood, and the tracks on Jigsaw Pieces run the gamut from deep, abstract house ("Almost Lost") to midtempo tech-house ("Sunset Walkin'") to textural studies that combine elements of acid house mixed with Future Sound of London-esque eclecticism ("Deliver Me"). Jigsaw Pieces is the type of recording that will appeal to novices exploring the dance-music genre, because it is not aggressively rhythmic. For this very same reason, die-hard house and techno fans may feel slighted. But for anyone willing to listen, Jigsaw Pieces is not only a satisfying dance record but an excellent couch listen as well. --L.V.R. Odiaga

Sensual, Atmospheric, Deep House at it's Best.......2003-12-20
The first thing I ever heard from the Timewriter was "Sunsetwalkin" on WRCT 88.3 fm, in the fall of 98. Needless to say, I fell in love with the track. "Jigsaw Pieces" to me, not only sums up the distinctive sound of the Timewriter, but the sound of Plastic-City as well; lush, futuristic, and sensual. This is the kind of record you play after coming down from a night at the club, or just wandering around aimlessy at 4 in the morning. The pictures on the album inset, are reminiscent of key moments of life, nostalgic at best. Kind of like Boards of Canada (okay, maybe I'm pushing it.). The music is photographic and displays major maturity from Cochois and PLastic City. If you don't got this album, get it before it goes out of print. If you're a fan of Terry Lee Brown, Jr., Thomas Fehlmann, Thomas Brinkmann, and the more progressive tech sounds, this is one you shouldn't pass up.
Simply magic.......2001-07-07
I think that just about sums it up. This is a beautifully produced master piece. How can one person produce such poetry. Fitting for every mood (strange). Deep deep house of the highest quality. This has gone strait to my number 1 spot. Enjoy!
Great HousE from the German Label "Plastic City".......2001-01-26
This is an excellent album for House fans. Deep, thumping beats keep the sound moving. "Plastic City" seems to have a few good artists like this and one would be wise to check them out. If you like the pounding style of Terry Lee Brown Jr. then you should like this also. Lots of variety and even a little "New Age" sound thrown in.
I am looking for other Timewriter releases.......2001-01-04
The album is absolutely perfect. If anoyone has an idea how to get other releases by The Timewriter ("Letters from the Jester", "Imperial Dub" please contact me. My email piotr.tomasik@pl.abnamro.com. Thanks p
Gorgeous.......2000-10-24
I purchased this CD encouraged by positive reviews and what can I say? absolute beauty! Where can I start...The CD may be a bit too much to be appreciated in one sitting, but like a fine wine, it's magic takes time to fully reveal itself. Jean F Cochois takes the genres of house, classical and ambient and veers outside of traidtional 'pigeonholing', he approaches the song in a melodic and carefully structured vein - he injects each and every song with a deep spirituality. The spirtuality is not dogmatically based, but more universal and uplifting - a definite FEELING. I've had this CD for 2 years and I still find new sounds within the songs to appreciate. Best listened to while lying on your bed, in a dimly lit room with good hi-fi equipment. Amazing!

Album Description
Jean F. Cochois - (the "F" stands for Frank), has been engrossed in music since his early boarding school days and is one of the most outstanding house music producers Germany has to offer. Making an amazing debut with his 1996 album
Letters From The Jester, he managed to thrill the music media and a wowed audience right from the start with his unique production style that manages to fuse the virtues of house with the energy of techno, something that would later be categorized as tech house.
Now, the Plastic City label is offering the sophisticated lovers of deep vector house
The Timewriter's best-selling album
Jigsaw Pieces, originally released to an acclaimed audience in 2000, as a re-release which comes with one new mix. This album is a dazzling collection of "real 21st century soul music, avoid of clichés, overflowing with magic", as
Muzik magazine put it, that oozes profound feelings of spirited deepness and boundless beauty. With Jigsaw Pieces, The Timewriter shows his expert skills and profound knowledge of music, and craftily, he interweaves of pieces them together into one big picture which he paints with his favorite colors. Deep, wide, spacious, sensual, luscious, melancholic and at the same time uplifting, this album easily becomes an all-time favorite.
Transcending limits and boundaries with a flawless, timeless elegance, it would be very hard to pigeonhole and label The Timewriter who now has four albums and a string of successful single releases on such acclaimed labels as
Plastic City, Mole Listening Pearls, Elektrolux, Wave Music, Driftwood and Fiji as well as remixes for example.

1977 Album From British Pop/Harmony Group.......1998-12-05
The album 'Pieces Of Magic' by Jigsaw was released in 1977. It remains a fine example of British pop music in the mid to late 1970s. Hailing from Coventry in Great Britain, for some strange reason the band found little success in their home country. In fact although they released many fine albums and singles, only two charted in Britain. 'Sky High' was a Top Ten British pop hit at the end of 1975, whilst 'If I Have To Go Away' charted at number 37 in Britain in September 1977. This track is featured on this excellent album, along with the wonderful song 'Only When I'm Lonely', a plaintive ballad which displays the many writing and vocal talents of the group and their chief writers Clive Scott and Des Dyer. Elsewhere Jigsaw tip their hats to the Beatles influence on 'You're My Magic' on an album which includes other highlights such as 'Lonely Lonely Love' and 'Broken Down Love Affair'
All in all this album, although remaining typical of the era in which it was recorded, is still enjoyable and a pleasure to listen to. Although enjoying much success in Europe, America and Japan their home country of Britain is the poorer for criminally ignoring this excellent band. BUY THIS CD AND ENJOY!
