5 out of 5 stars HOMAGE.......2005-07-10

Guitar great Stevie Ray Vaughan was known for covering Jimi Hendrix's "Wind Cries Mary" in concert (I saw him play it live and bring the house down in Austin, Texas in the early 80's). So how fitting is it that Mayer covers BOTH Vaughan and Vaughan's famous cover-both LIVE? Nice Touch!

In his two originals, Mayer doesn't always escape his musical provenance (Dave Matthews, James Taylor, et.al), but along with similar artist Daniel Cartier (whose "Wide Outside" is a definate MUST for sensitive acoustic men lovers), will establish a unique indentity in about 6 years.

Can't Wait!

4 out of 5 stars John Mayer-A breath of fresh air.......2004-04-11

I have been a fan of John for a long time. I have seen him live twice. Once with the album tour of Room for squares, and for Heavier things. I must say that each time is a new experience. He brings his own style to the table. With the song Lenny-(Stevie Ray Vaughan)even with that he puts things in there that stevie didn't. Stevie is one of my guitar heroes. Along with Eric Clapton. But this album shows his talents with out any major production. This is just John playin his acoustic. Of course with the Lenny and Wind Cries marry. This is an album that you can listen to over and over.

5 out of 5 stars Live talent showcased!.......2002-11-15

Some of the older fans of John Mayer know where his true talent lies. Hearing John Mayer in concert is incomparable. While his CDs are fun and filled with insightful lyrics and wonderfully produced music, they can't compare to seeing John Mayer live. This CD offers a glimpse of the talent that John Mayer has to offer. While it is a single released in Australia, promoting his song No Such Thing, the CD is a gem because it contains two of his live performances. On this CD you'll find John's amazing guitar talent. Granted, you can download many, many live shows on the internet but if you just want a glimpse of it, get this CD. You won't find the real experience of being at a John Mayer show with this short CD, but you will understand why he's hyped as talented. (It's not just hype.) A John Mayer show is entertainment in every way--- filled with John chatting at the audience and amazing solos--- but this will help out the fan who can see that John's limited by a produced CD.

Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2002-09-04

This album is one of the best ones that I've heard in a long time. I'm really into the acoustic rock, and this music is some of the best acoustic rock I've heard aside from Dave Matthews. I highly recommend this album to anyone who like to listen to the acoustic guitar.

3 out of 5 stars Catchy Song.......2002-05-21

this Song's Lyrics caught my attention.I Liked the Energy He has on this Song.the only reason why it doesn't fully move me is because He sounds like a Cross between Blues Travler&Dave Matthews&that Vocal Vibe doesn't fully move me.but John Mayer is a Decent Writer&Something about this song works for me.I think He might turn out to be a decent Song-writer in the long run.time will tell.
