This album is less rock-oriented than some of their earlier stuff (which unfortunately is not available virtually anywhere), but Spurge more than makes up for it with their cutting edge sound that is still innovative years later. These guys originally hail from Billings, MT. If anyone runs across their album just before Le Muerte, which is titled Tri-Ball Ready, I definitely recommend it.

Portland, Oregon's Spurge have an amazing Bass player and drummer. They belt out some of their trademark punk-funk-ROCK tunes, slathered with guitar riffs that approach heavy metal quality. They explore some improvisational-jazz style breakdowns mid-song, interrupting the ROCK flow. The lyrics are pretty good, unlike the vocal quality. A transitional album?

      From the same label that brought you BULLET TREATMENT comes another great punk outfit with traces and influences of genuine hardcore/punk that was the resounding flavor of the mid to late 80's. Just as DAG NASTY and Ian Mackay's other lesser known band, EMBRACE, BLEEDER RESISTOR have developed a sound and vibe that is a balance between the rough edge of 80's hardcore and the streamlined, more polished punk sound brought out by the advance of new wave. Great fist lifting choruses with easily processed guitar signatures bring to mind a possible PENNYWISE venture but with an ALL coating of popish urgency. For those caught up in the recent pop punk garbage of late, you need to listen to an album like this for an understanding of where it all derived from. Although it might seem a little thin in the creativity realm they made up for it with infinite energy and perfectly infectious rhythms. If this six-song EP doesn't get the juices flowing for punk fans, then you probably weren't a punk fan to begin with.

      From the funky bass lines to the fuzzy guitars, this album will have you grooving the entire time. With each track you find that not only is the music fun to listen to, but that Frequency db's music is actually well-written and played. Imagine, indie musicians with talent?? Give it a listen. You won't be disappointed. If anything, "join the circus" will inspire you to quit your job and let it all go...

          If you love electronic music and you love female vocals you must have this disc. You can catch sounds from some of your favorite artists, or check out some new ones. Hightlights of this disc are tracks by Fiction 8, God Module, Magenta, and This Ascension.

          This cd is excellent, moody, and well worth your time, this band is gonna be hot soon! I'm very excited to hear that they are still together and ready to cut another album. I've been to a few recent shows and they sound even better than what's on this disc. Since this release, they have added a new drummer, and things are sounding great! Kudos to Stereo Crush!
