Back in 1988 I was turned on to Frank Marino from my sister's boyfriend.Though their romance may not have lasted,mine with Frank has.This was the first Frank album I'd ever heard.Back in those days I was a straight up thrash/metal head,but something about this guy just caught my attention.Needless to say I've been roaming the planet looking for anything I could find from Frank."It's begun to rain"..timeless and classical,since that day I've pretty much owned everything Frank has put out.He is truly a "Guitar God" in my books.One day this man will be put into the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame"..as the song states.Next to Steve Vai,he is truly a GOD!

THIS ALBUM WOULD FIT NICELY INTO THE IV THE EMPEROR SLEEVE-IT SOUNDS AS IF THIS WAS AN ELABORATION OF IV'S WONDERFUL GUITAR STYLINGS -A WONDERFUL BLENDIND OF SOUNDS AND AN IDICATION OF MORE OF THIS MAN'S PHENOMINAL TALENT.

An excellent album from the first to the last track. Aside from the great rockers for which Marino is so well known, check out "Look at Me" and "Lady" for insight into Marino's abilities on fronts way beyond the rock realm. The jazz runs are superb on these tracks. This is a must have, not only for Marino fans, but also for serious guitar players and listeners.

I've been a Frank Marino fan since 1975, and I recently listened through this "album" again. I first heard this work on vinyl, and have enjoyed my cassette until it's almost unplayable. This work really shows F.M.'s musical range, and is a punctuation point in his struggle with a record label that didn't know what to do with him. Highlights include Requiem..., In My Ways, Look At Me (perfect smooth jazz), and Try For Freedom. As a teenager eagrely lapping up every note, this seemed longer back then, but could easily go to market TODAY and compete with the current "heroes" like Vai, Satriani, Johnson, Morse, and Petrucci. I'm still turning people "on" to this amazing guitarist, and will continue to do so until all my aquaintances know his music.

        OK! Sugar Rush was never my favorite song, but this CD has increaced my enjoyment of this song like 50000%!

        2. Sugar Rush (Earthboun's Sugarcrush mix Short)- O my gosh! Earthbound has taken a slower song and made it one of the BEST techno song i have ever heard!

        3. Sugar Rush (Earthbound's Sugarcrush mix Long)- As i have said in other interviews, this song only gets better as it gets longer!

        4. Sugar Rush (M 12 Mix)- Can you say, "The Best remix EVER!" It's like dance style, and the best. I can't say that enough!

        This cd is a great purchase for any A-Teens fan (and just for anyone else...) ! It has great remixes that are somewhat similar to the previous "Halfway Around The World" ones. In the other version of Sugar Rush there is another song. It's called "Give It Up". In almost all of the new singles they have included new songs. This is a must buy if you like the group's music.

        Ateens are sooooo cooooool and their new music is also great. Another great buy is Teen Spirit, which includes all of their Non-Abba-cover new songs.

                frank marino&rush kick butt on this cd!! from the opening "the answer" to ?"purple haze" it rocks!!! he even does a killer "johnny b goode"and a killer song of his "dragon fly"i wore out my record of this! i think anybody that enjoys "guitar god" rock will rock out to this cd!!!!!!!!!!!

                I was explaining the significance of this album to my wife on the drive home from a nice evening out. One of the things I said was, "While I was listening to _this_, everyone else in high school was listening to the Bee Gees, The Little River Band and Linda Ronstadt. THIS was the stuff that should have sold millions of copies." All of the Hendrix comparisons, all of the nonsense about Frank being visited by the spirit of Jimi Hendrix in a dream, all the urban myths ... SHELVE THEM! Listen to this album and be mindful that there were three guys onstage playing for all they were worth live. Frank comes to play on this album, whether he's covering Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, or Jimi, or blistering the paint off the walls with his own "Electric Reflections of War." Frank is unpretentious, passionate, and genuine. You get a dose of *this* stuff and you indeed wonder why he wasn't a household name in the mid-Seventies. Music that feeds your guitar junked-out soul! It's a feast! I remember seeing an ad for this album in Circus magazine when it was first released. "Frank Marino's ten fingers and a TON of electricity." Apt words. There's some heavy music on here.

                After hearing casually Mahogany Rush' version of Johnny B. Goode I thought it was simply THE MOST. Marino plays very influenced by two sixties main keys in my opinion: Hendrix (mostly) and Doors (check the instrumental part of "Finish Line" on the "What's next" album and "Poppy" on the Double live, does it sound and remembers the keyboard part of "Light my fire" don't you think ?). The Hendrix influence is clear: there is a "legend" explaining that when Frank was 13 or 14 years old - I think he recorded his first recor "Maxoom" when he was 14 -he experienced a LSD bad trip, had a comma and it was Hendrix - recently dead by then in 1970 - who suggested Marino to continue to play. And he did !! Marino plays many of Hendrix favourites:
                "Purple haze" (closing this live album, great solos !!!), "All along the watchtower", "Johnny B. Goode" and other 60-70's classics: Doors' "Roadhouse Blues", Beatles' "Norwegian woods" and he's really a great multinstrumentist musician: he plays guitar, keyboards (check the Norwegian woods" version and "Requiem for a sinner" in the World Anthem album. I have almost all his discography on vynil and a really enjoy their early albums until late 80's. By end on the seventies the band had its full power and recorded this Live for me enter the Rock'n'roll Hall of fame. This had tyo be released as a double LP but finally it was issued as a single and some more live material was included in the "Tales of the unexpected" album which is half studio and half live (check the studio version of "All along the watchtower" and let your neurones dance to the music... I would finally recommend the "Power of R'n'roll" album, really powerful and intense if you like intense and firing guitarists !! ENJOY THE LIVE ALBUM.

                the answer, johnie b goode, im a king b baby - FORGET ABOUT IT!
                frank never got the glory he deserved. Frank and MR, for a 3 pc. show, gave me a lesson in what real talent really meant. I've been hunting for FM $ MR Live for some time. NOT GIVING UP!

                This is the classic live record by power trio Mahogany Rush.
                This band is one of the most underated of the 70's. Don't miss this classic slab of metallic power trio blues!!!!!
