    I think this CD contain on of the best DJ Cam's single track. Which one is it? Buy it and figure that out.

    DJ Cam at times seems overrated. Not as original and groundbreaking as Shadow or Krush, but still provides enuff treats for most listeners of TripHop. I have one major problem with Cam on this CD. HE IS A TERRIBLE DJ..... sloppy cuts and stratches prevent this CD from receiving more play than it does now. A real DJ does't take away from the feel of the music but adds to it. DJ Cam should just be Cam, stick to making beats...leave DJing to the DJ's!!!!!

    Overall just an average TripHop CD marred with off cue scratching and sloppy cuts....

    DJ Cam produces a downbeat CD which is quite not up to to the standards of his DJ Kicks release. But the CD does does finish rather nicely with ultra mellow tracks 12 and 13

    First off, DJ Cam is better than this. Check out his DJ Kicks album if you are interested in his DJing skills. The music here on the French Connection suits the usual feel of a Cam record, but there is just no flow to the mix itself. I gave it 4 stars only because the music is tight. Cam does have great taste, but his mixing here seems unenthusiastic and rushed. Only recommended to series heads. Look somewhere else, like DJ Krush's Code 4109, for a sweet downtempo mix.

    I'm not a big Rod McKuen fan. I bought this CD only because it was available at a very low price and it included one of my favorite songs, "If You Go Away". It's pleasant enough listening but after a few songs Rod's vocals tend to wear thin. There are two or three tracks tracks performed by French artists, notably one by Jacques Brel.

    Fortunately almost all of Rod's vocals are done in English because his attempts at French just doesn't ring well to my ears. The McKuen standards "Seasons In The Sun" and "I've Been To Town" are a couple of highlights. I'd say if the price is right and you have no major problem with Rod McKuen in general, go for it!

    I bought this from my CD club as a freebie during a promotion. I was very impressed by Pahud in his recording of the Khachaturian and Ibert concertos and wanted to hear something else by him.

    This is like a lot of collections by big name soloists. It includes a lot of unrelated music done up for virtuoso effect. Some of it is not particularly French, either, including the leadoff piece, a waltz by Shostakovich.

    But everything is interesting and, to me, sometimes a bit bizarre. It was difficult for me to listen to an hour's worth of unrelated music for flute, piano, clarinet and other instrumental collections. The piercing tones of the flute, which were sometimes recorded very closely, were bothersome.

    Still the playing is excellent throughout this disk. If you have an interest in the performers, or if you like French music and/or the flute, you will probably enjoy this very much. It is similar to many such collections by James Galway (no Irish or popular music, however.)

    If you are like me, and your interest centers around European orchestral music, you may have some difficulty finding a niche for this in your collection. The recording is universally outstanding and audiophiles will enjoy that.

        I remember while in college a friend of mine who was ready to graduate, came to me with this foreign album. I was oblivious to what the world had to offer me musically. I was new to the dance scene and was still trying to grasp everything. After hearing this, I was immediately sucked into its heavy basslines, traveling skats, and euphoric melodies. I had to have it. Unfortunately my copy was stolen and I have been on a mad search for this album for the past two years. This album is one of those classic, have to have albums. Highly recommended!

        Hey, I heard this at a Sushi Bar in Chicago found out what it was and bought it, since then I have listened to it many times. It is a sampler of a scene that I don't know about. not really dub,trance,techno or dreamhop- more fun and one doesn't have to swallow any stupidity here. perhaps a little naivety or fey refernces to the classics but using a sampler is easy making sound that speaks is not!

            i just returned from europe with this cd in my luggage. it features the songs that were blaring in every chic clothing store and were being hummed by teenagers and cops on the beat everywhere from amsterdam to jerusalem. an infectious collection of european dance pop.
