Customer Reviews:
so few strong tracks--so many bad quality vinyl records used.......2005-10-21
Warren Gluck mixes disc 1, which stresses soft disco house-and all feels very dated. He opens with a bizarre funk dance tune that sounds like something WAR would have recorded today this is followed by filter disco and a disco house cover of "love is what you need". Touch & Go has a gospel disco flair. The disco mix og Gloria Gaynor by Bobby D'Ambrosio is used. Needin U II, a typical soft house David Morales track, is loaded with pops and crackles from the vinyl record used in the mix. The same applies for sound quality of the next disco-fueled track. But suddenly, it feels like the whole party takes a turn with the peak hour, thumping hard anthem "Shine On" by Tony Moran and Cindy Mizzelle, which seems forced in this shower of happy disco house. Another disco house track follows, but the disc ends with a hot bouncy techno-style anthem that would easily drive the crowd wild-unfortunately, some vinyl pops are noticeable.
Tracy Young starts disc 2 off right with the friburn & urik mix of Vernessa Mitchell's "issues"-a track hard to get on CD at all, let alone 7 minutes of it! A couple of tribal instrumentals follow, but then the vocal anthems return with the slammin' Rosabel anthem The Power. Track 5 and 6 are dubby house tunes, and horrible groove wear is audible throughout! If your records aren't in good condition, then either get a new copy or don't use the record at all for a CD compilation! "B" is 9 minutes of repetitive instrumental house with some spoken samples now and then. As a result, the slammin' "Daylight", with its alternative male vocal feel, comes as a jolting-but pleasant-surprise. This is followed by the hypnotic and dark female vocal track by KHZ-an awesome 9 and a half minutes long. Things mellow out for the last few tracks.
Overall, there are just too many bad sound sources and uninteresting dance tracks on this disc. With this many tracks there should have been a lot more strong club tracks. Track times:

A let down for this series.......2003-12-23
I bought this album because Winter Party Volume 2 is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, Volume 4 did not deliver on the precedent set by Julian Marsh and Tony Moran in Volume 2. Where Volume 2 offered a incredible variety of masterfully remixed sounds (everything from Madonna, to Nanci Griffith, to spanish guitar, to Delibes) Volume 4 churned out a bunch of monotonous remixes of unknown, mediocre artists. While there were a few tracks I really enjoyed (Sunshine Day, Expand, and Daylight), I felt they were lost in their mundane surroundings. The rest of the tracks sounded the same, with similar styles and vocalists I couldn't differentiate from one another. It makes good background music, but doesn't have the same energy and composition as its predecessors.
Just like being there...........2001-08-04
Anyone who was fortunate enough to have attended the party that inspired this compilation will immediately be sent back to the excitement of the evening, such a free day.... Each time I listen, I hear something new emerging from the thick complexity of the music. This cd is permanently assigned to my car stereo!
Let's hope the party was better than the CD!!!!.......2001-05-13
Sorry, but the previous rate should have listened to this CD first! I just didn't like it. Too much repeat boom-boom-boom. I felt like I was in a rainstorm and all I could hear was my windshield wipers! UGH! Winter Party #3 is MUCH better if you have to stick with WP. The Global Grooves series (One, Millenium, The New Groove), Michael Duretto (Evolution One, Two), White Party (Anniversary, X, '99, 2000) sets have much more "value (dance) for the money. Don't waste your money on this one.
Winter Party Vol. 4.......2001-03-20
Although I have not had an opportunity to review this CD yet, I actually attended the Winter Party 2001 and can't imagine the music being much better. Except for some of the trance stuff the isn't my favorite, the music was excellent. A great mix of new and old mixes. Of course MAdonna was mixed in there a couple of times, but I think the highlite was a new mix of the old Sky High. There wasn't a pair of feet that didn't squeeze onto the dance floor!
