Album Description
The '90s never sounded better than on this first-ever hits compilation from the U.K. alt-rock supergroup with pedigrees, including: New Order, The Smiths, and Pet Shop Boys
Customer Reviews:
Good if you don't have the previous albums.......2007-05-16
I have always been a big fan of everything The Smiths or New Order do. I am a fan of Electronic, specially the first album. When I saw the song list of this collection, most of the songs are listed as remastered version or radio edit. To tell the true, it's the same or almost the same as the albums versions. If you have the 3 previous cds, then DON'T buy this. If you don't and want the basic songs of this great duo, then you should definitely buy this.
Best of Electronic.......2007-01-10
I thought this album would have more kick. Overall, I give it at most a 3 out of five.
Pretty Much Covers It.......2007-01-10
I've been a Electronic fan for a long time. This album was good, I was hoping for a new album. There are definitely some songs I would have included had I compiled it and I would have put the tracks in chronological order. A good addition to this would have been a bonus CD with outtakes and remixes.
I found the group strongest and most fun when Neal Tennant was singing with them. It is a shame the collaboartion couldn't have continued beyong the "Dissapointed" single.
when a nightmare becomes real.......2007-01-08
Nobody thought this would be possible, gather two members of two of the worst bands ever but they dared to do it. Probably the worst album ever.
Just Missed!!.......2007-01-06
I am a very big fan of New Order. As a result, I usual pick up the side projects of the members. When some bands release a greatest hits compilation, they also add variation on the biggest hits (be it an alternate version, demo or remix). "Get The Message" (the title track) is one of my all-time favorite songs out of my 20,000+ song collection. Instead of putting the album version on this compilation, they used the 7" version. I was VERY disappointed!! Overall, the album does include a nice collection of tracks that shows Electronic's range.

One of the first awesome albums from WWMT!.......2005-04-12
(really 4.5 but that's not an option here)
This has always been a great WWMT album. It may have only been their third album, but it still sounds great even today. This was when they showed what dance music SHOULD sound like. Let me review the songs...
Revolution: This has always been one of my very favorite WWMT songs. It has awesome vocals, awesome lyrics, and an awesome sound. It also has a great feel to it. Great dance song.
Rain (Set Me Free): Another one of my favs! I wouldn't say it has the best beat for dancing (a little bit frantic), but the chorus is easy to lightly dance to. Very pretty song! I know this sounds strange, but if there's any sound of music that makes me think of rain, it's all in this song.
We Talk To The Lord: Fun song, but not my top favorite. As WWMT's producer Zarc Porter said..."On another occasion I remember putting down this weird jazz/swing thing and we had always wanted to do a track about prayer so we wrote `We Talk To The Lord' over it. The sound of the track was a bit comedy so Andy did these tongue in cheek raps for the verses and we had the dancers doing a routine with Kenny Everett style huge hands on stage. It was very memorable, but as with any novelty track they don't last that long before they turn to cheese!"...I have to agree with the thing about turning to cheese. My advise about this song is just this: don't listen to it too much or it WILL turn to cheese.
Re.Revival: VERY awesome song. The only vocal in this song is an old recording of a man named Duncan Campbell talking about God's incredible move in the Scottish Hebredian islands that had happened in about 1949, and the whole message was amazing. Here's some more of what Zarc Porter had to say about it..."We were trying to get hold of a recording of Duncan Campbell who was the evangelist involved with the Hebridean revival of the late 1940s. I remember saying to Andy, I hope it sounds characterful and interesting thinking we could possibly sample it and put it in a track. Sure enough when it arrived, his voice was definitely a bit unusual but it also had this incredible anointing about it. Just hearing a first hand account of what happened was gripping and incredibly inspiring. I immediately chopped it up into sections and put some beats behind it. That became the track `Re:Revival'."...The sound effects in the song are great, sounding a bit like "Revolution" in some places. Sorry to be a bit out of place, but you've gotta love that Scottish accent!
Sweet Salvation: Great song! Very good sounds. Highly recommended.
Nobody Knows: A little hard to get used to at first. It's a little slower than the others. The sound is a bit hypnotic until the chorus comes, than it gets nice. Mark Pennels sounds great when he's singing the chorus. Very nice vocals. Great sound to the song. If the frantic dance beats drive you crazy, this should be easier on you.
We Don't Get What We Deserve: Not really my song. If there's one WWMT song I don't like very much, it's this one. The message is good, but the overall sound of the song is kind of weird. Not recommended.
I'll Always Believe In You: Very nice song. Great lyrics from beginning to end.
There Is A Green Hill: Beautiful! The guys do awesome on the vocals again. Again, here's some more of what Zarc Porter has to say..."As was to become the custom with all Tribe albums, we once again wanted a slow song to end the set with. Mark and myself were at a party opposite our church one day and as we needed this song, we decided to pop over to the church and see if we could write something. As I sat down at the piano I noticed that the music book on the stand had been left open to the hymn "There Is A Green Hill". I began doodling some chords and we started to sing a tune using those words and within a few minutes it had all just slotted together. That song later became our biggest US CCM radio hit."
Remixes (Revolution, Sweet Salvation, and Re.Revival): Not as good as the originals.
Well, the only reason I gave this CD a 4.5 is because of the song We Don't Get What We Deserve, and because of the remixes. Otherwise, this is an awesome CD and it's always been one of my favorites! I was reading that it was recently voted either one of the top 5 or top 10 best Christian albums ever made. Thanks for reading!
These guys rock for Christ and it shows!.......1999-07-11
The album "We Don't Get What We Deserve" by the World Wide Message Tribe is so awesome! They clearly say that they are on fire for Christ and that He has really made a difference in each of their lives. When I am in a grouchy mood, I put in their CD and my mood quickly changes. Their music is also great for dancing!! Rock on WWMT!!
Awesome music, inspired lyrics . . . a must.......1999-03-11
If you are looking for a new way to worship and sing to the Lord, you definitely have to check out WWMT's CD. It's full of well-blended beats and moving lyrics without the syrupy sound that a lot of Christian music contains. The music is high energy, with definite hip hop and dance rap influences . . . and it doesn't compromise. I was reminded of C+C Music Factory, and Mortal's "Pura" recording. If you are tired of same old in worship music, give WWMT a try . . . they will rock your world.

Vienna Idol.......2007-02-07
Two Questions: Was this the audition tape for "Vienna Idol?" and What would Simon Cowell's say?
How sad.......2006-04-16
A terrible try to match Libera. Someone said it right: how dare those people use such marvellous voices to create such ugly
thing? Let Libera deal with amazing new age music, let Vienna Boys Choir continue being masters of their domains: classical music.
Not their style.......2006-03-31
I was expecting something a lot better. One can't fault the choir for the recording. The fault lies with the director, arranger, and producer. The instrumental accompaniment over shadowed the boys singing. The arrangements of each song was too similar, and the boys sounded too restrained for this style. Pop is not the musical style of the Vienna Boys Choir. They need to stick what they do best - classical and sacred music.
Perhaps The Greatest Gag Gift Ever!.......2005-12-07
The greatest thing about this CD is that it wasn't meant to be funny! Upon listening to "Burning Down The House", I was seized with a fit of hysterical laughter that nearly broke a rib. And the laughs keep coming. Need a smooth tune for that special gal, try "Fantasy", she will be yours! Need a good jogging tune, "Get Down" should serve your purpose. A CD that will offer hours of entertainment. Guaranteed.
wow - THAT was something!.......2005-10-31
I got this as a gift because my friend saw a holiday cd with Vienna Boys Choir at my house. My advice:listen to the music previews before you buy the cd. It's too freaky for me. Good Luck.

Part of the early Electronic experience.......2000-07-31
"Get the Message," I believe, was the second single released from Electronic's self-titled debut. As opposed to the PSB-New Order combo-sounding first single, "Getting Away With It," this song has a predominant New Order flair with Bernard Sumner singing and guitar and orchestral work that would sound at home on NO's Technique. While still struggling to find their own sound, Electronic put together a good remix single here that is worth purchasing and enjoying.
The release starts off with an Extended Mix of "Get the Message." It's hard to tell differences between this version and the album version. This might be slightly longer, but the additions are logical and fit right in place as if this were the original song. Next we get a bonus, the Extended Mix of "Free Will," a non-album track. This is an interesting orchestral piece. Its sound definitely adjusts through the piece, sounding like NO from Brotherhood, then it has some Pet Shop Boys elements, and during some parts it sounds almost like an 808 State composition. Taking cues from a lot of electronic geniuses, "Free Will" is a very interesting piece of laser-light dance floor fare. I recall that initially I didn't care for the two DNA mixes of "Get the Message" that follow. However, on this most recent listen, I find a new appreciation for them. The DNA Groove Mix starts off with a funky drum/cymbal rhythm (similar to EMF's "Unbelievable") that combines with ethereal/space-age synth work and a groovy rock piano hook. It feels a bit slower than the original, but it takes on a funky attitude that would be fun to groove along with sensually on the dance floor. Taking a cue from the Groove Mix, the DNA Sin Mix keeps a similar groove, but the beats and piano hooks are modified, making this version a tad shallower than the previous versions. This version is a bit more appropriate for a chill-out ambience.
I give this single 4 stars, mainly because of the mixes and the bonus track, which is kind of rare for me. The song itself could be argued that its sounds like Electronic, but for a New Order fan for myself, it's hard to separate the two. I'm not saying the song is bad - I love it. But the remixes to me show more signs of what Electronic could really sound like, as does the interesting "Free Will" (even if it does have some fragmented sections). While copying from popular dance artists and themes popular in 1990/1991, Electronic produces a remix single that is a delight to sing with and dance with abandon to.
Electronic fans, especially fans of the first album, should definitely have this single. I would also recommend it to any New Order fans who enjoyed Brotherhood, Substance and Technique. I think techno house fans will also appreciate the feel of these mixes; this would make a great retro night anthem.
Listening to this single, along with the other singles from this release (and the single remix of the non-album track "Disappointed"), will complete your early Electronic listening experience. If you can find it, definitely buy it.
The best of Electronic!.......2000-07-24
"Get the Message" is a dance club staple and the best single ever from Electronic, the duo made up of Johnny Marr of The Smiths and Bernard Sumner of New Order. If you're a fan of either of these groups, this is THE Electronic single to have.

Probably the Greatest Super Group of the Era, Electronic was the Collaboration of New Order Front Man Bernard Sumner and Former Smiths Guitarist/Co Writer Johnny Marr.
