Compare with other sound effects recordings. This recording seems to have been produced from cheap recording equipment and is not very realistic. You can do a lot better.

Simply put - these are priced AND recorded right. A very generous helping of effects and the sound quality is where it should be. A very good buy - you could get the whole collection with 99 effects in each for less than the price of one CD.

      This collection was gathered to show off the capabilities of today's surround sound systems. In that express purpose it passes acceptably but not fantastically. Sound does indeed come out of the surround speakers but the demonstration is hardly wonderful. The music gathered for the demonstration on the other hand is exceptional. Numerous tracks from Erich Kunzel and the Cinncinati Pops Orchestra are scattered among the songs and should let anyone listening know that they should definitely be collecting numerous recordings from them. All of the other tunes are very well done and should serve as a demo disc for you to gain exposure to them. While this is a nice collection, I would honestly recommend that the buyer seek out the works of Kunzel and the CPO. These recordings alone will stretch your system and show you some quality music.

      This cd found its way to me the way I get most of my music nowadays - recommended by a friend. We had be talking about the Chemical Brothers, Radiohead and probably some others when he asked, "have you ever heard 'Capitol K?'" I replied in the negative, and after the first track of this album, I was hooked. My favorite kinds of music are the more experimental ends of electronica (bordering on noise for the sake of noise), but Capitol K makes noise into music. Also check out Capitol K's other album-length disc 'Island Row'. IR is probably more lyric/melodic, but I like this one more. Both still get 5 stars out of 5.

      As the editorial details, this cd is one of the best to come out on Mike Paradinas' new imprint Planet Mu. The reason I decided to write this review is the fact that I keep coming back to this cd. This could almost be music you would hear on the radio except for the occasional feedback squelch and short sound experiment. Also vocals only appear on two tracks, but they add a nice element for those who think this is machine music. The music never sounds looped (it sounds live actually). Most of the tracks are propulsive, instrumental pieces and repeated listens prove their staying power. The vox populi has spoken (can I be the voice of an entire people??)--this is recommended.
