Great music, low quality recordings.......2007-04-17

As a DJ of 20 years I was happy to find such a great quantity of extended mixes on one disc. Unfortunately the copy I purchased seemed lacking in sound quality to the point that I could not use it in a professional setting. Although for personal use what a great collection

Disco Nights is a pretty good series, but it always promises Extended Club Play Versions on front, and that's not always the case. You sometimes get 7" versions--and sometimes they even EDIT the 12" versions, which is a shame, because there are a good number of long versions on each volume. This volume gives you:

5 PLUS******STARS! SO MANY GREAT CUTS!.......2005-04-21

I agree with another reviewer that this is probably the creme-de-la-creme of this series. Contains killer dance cuts like Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame," one of the absolute hottest 70's dance tracks, if not the all-time greatest. Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," also ranks as one of the very best, and is incredibly moving. Vicky-Sue Robinson's original "Turn The Beat Around," is also one of the all-time high points of 70's dance music. And, great dance classics like Donna Summer's "Last Dance," Alicia Bridges' "I Love The Night Life (Disco Round)," and Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell," are included here, also in their full-length glory. What fun! The remaining tracks are just fine, with absolutely no clunkers. GRAB THIS ONE!

Ah, disco. A music which saw women take center stage on many occasions. I love to put on this collection when I'm biking, it gives me energy to workout and I can sing along. The variety is pretty good, in fact, some of the selections are rather horrible but we can't like everything. This was the second of this series that I purchased and I'm very glad I did. Think I'll go bike and sing "I Will Survive" right now.

Dance Dance Dance the whole time! Great CD!.......2002-09-25

Personally, I feel that this is the best of the Disco Night collection. The best disco artists are on this CD with Donna Summer singing 2 songs. A great start for any disco beginner.

You can't help but toe tap through the entire album. The CD appropriately ends with Donna Summer singing "Last Dance." brings back memories of those last days of disco, eh? Closin' out the place!

Everyone will wonder what you are singing and dancing to in the car when you listen to this CD. A wonderful collection of songs from disco's greatest Divas!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!.......2007-03-07

This CD is great.. I love DJ Mixtress!!! I especially love the Bay Area mixes on this 2 disc set... They are great.. The songs picked out were perfect. I like that she chose One Voice - When you think about me. I like the original version.. but after I listened to the mixed version.. that has become my favorite. The In a Dream one sounds great too.. Thats my favorite freestyle song out there.. and in this it sounds perfect!!

OMG! Freestyle never goes out of style, we've all shaken our little booties to so many of the classics included in this set but I for one didn't mind shimmying around the room "one more gen" to the hits that The Mixtress is happily throwing down here. This is a double disc and I picked mine up for $15!
Relive those early 90's ... days or all you young buns can discover some classics that will put most of the new party anthems to shame.
Of course if you play it loud you can really annoy the neighbors...

HOT...full length, no beat mix, female vocal trance........2005-03-27

I'd say volume two is better than the first. There are very few tracks on this disc I would skip. Water Dance Music really knows how to pick them. What's great about this disc is that a lot of these songs are not available as singles (at least in the US) and you probably have not heard of them, but if you like Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, Sylver, Milk Inc., or Kaye Ryan (who has a song on this double disc), then you will love this stuff. Most songs run from 5-8 minutes in length, with few radio edits. Track times:

great mix for mostly good songs.......2007-05-12

The mixes are great - continual throughout the CD. High energy and good song choices. While none of the songs are bad, there are a couple I find myself skipping past. This is easily made up for the ones I can put on repeat and lift weights, run or drive too. Almost a perfect CD. Highly recommended for dance, vocal trance lovers.

When I first got this cd I wasn't sure if this cd was as good as I thought it would. But as I listened to it more and more it grew on me. Now the songs are embedded in my brain and I love the cd more and more. There are so many good songs. I particularly like:

FEMALES DOING THEIR THING.......2004-10-03

"I Wanna Let Go", best dance song I have heard in a long time. If that song doesn't make you get up and dance, then you are dead. "Burn With Desire" is a nice follow to that song as well. Of course you got the Queen of Dance Deborah Cox on here with her biggest hit ever as well. Some songs on here are too mainstream however and the mixes are not as impressive as other Devito CD's. Tracks 2,3,4 make this cd worth it however, along with Cox's "Something Happened On the Way to Heaven".

The Heavy stuff is great..........2004-06-14

This one of my favorite current dance CDs, along with mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession".
Dance Divas 2 brings more current tracks to the collection, unlike vol. 1 which contained a lot of stuff we've already heard before. I really dig the heavy stuff on this CD (I just love hardfloor and hard edge dance music, like mr.deviant's stuff), but the CD has too many light tracks to keep me from giving it a higher rating. Still worth the money, but should have been filled with 100% hardtracks.

Nice Mix of Familiar Tracks and Lesser Known Ones.......2000-04-23

Many oldies compilations only include tracks that were big hits at the time that they were released. Often left off are good tracks by lesser known acts that for whatever reason failed to make a dent on the charts. This collection, the third in Motown's "Funkology" series is a notable exception. It includes seminal tracks like Thelma Houston's wonderful cover of "Don't Leave Me This Way" and Bonnie Pointer's controversial hit "Free Me From My Freedom/Tie Me To A Tree (Handcuff Me)." Tracks that seemed like much bigger hits than they actually were like High Ingery's "He's A Pretender" and "Candy Man" by the Mary Jane Girls are also included. Most importantly, this collection also includes rare sides by largely unknown artists such as Bunny DeBarge (of the group DeBarge with her only solo single) and the late Yvonne Fair (who had a small role in the movie "Lady Sings the Blues"). Tata Vega, who has probably been most widely heard as the singing voice of Shug Avery in the movie "The Color Purple," is represented with her biggest R&B single (peaking at #58) from her four Motown albums with her energetic recording of "I Just Keep Thinking About You Baby." To keep you snapping your fingers or tapping your feet, many of the songs in this album are the 12" dance versions. However, please take note that the version of "The Boss" by Diana Ross included in this compilation is a 1994 re-mix that with the exception of her vocals is very different from the original version. Admittedly nitpicking, there are some other lesser known Motown artists that I would've liked included in this title, such as Fizzy Qwick and Alfie. Perhaps they'll be included in a later collection. Both volume one and two of this series feature some very hard to find mixes. But the series can't decide what it wants to be. It's not REALLY a mixed CD, because the songs are just carefully edited together so one song begins as another ends. And more so on volume 1, some of the cuts are disappointingly short, so it's not really an ideal release for series collector's looking for full length versions. This volume in particular is mostly more focused on tribal rhythms with the diva vocals too often being an afterthought. Track times:

Another great installment from label "Star 69".......2004-12-19

This cd is pretty good. I bought this cd originally for Jakey B. "Heartattack" and I was surprised to listen to how good the rest of the album is. The highlights of this album include:

Offer Nissim feat. Maya "That's the way I like it,"
Bob Sinclar "Kiss my Eyes,"
Susan Palmer "Luv 2 Luv," and
Beat Hustlerz "Just About Had Enough"

Of course the rest of the album continues with a sensual House sound to it that will be great when your stuck in traffic or for an after party.

Hot Songs, Hotter Mixes.......2004-09-04

I'm a huge dance music fan... i am always hunting for great mixes and this CD has pulled some of my recent favorites into one album... First off... Jahkey's Heartattack... is awesome... great bump and grind beat... just enough bang the drums... it's just an all around great song... Suzanne Palmer's luv 2 luv is also AWESOME... the this Cevin FIsher mix is the best mix of the song out there... love me right is NOT the same as the Angel City version that has been all over the place...

I'm rarely a fan of these haphazards mixes as they often have fairly old music... but this is a great CD...

This collection is a great way to find some of these mixes that you can't find anywhere else(others are common), and while it is not a continous beatmixed party, there also aren't gaps between the songs. It is carefully edited so that one song picks up just as another ends, so the beats never stop. So you're not exactly getting full length isolated mixes. Track times:

Divas Has Some Pizazz.......2005-07-29

This CD has some pizazz to it. Some of the cuts are not exactly the same tempo as the others which makes the mix not 100% conducive to a dance/party atmosphere as compared to other CDs
