5 out of 5 stars Three great albums, one great price.......2007-05-24

This set contains all the material from Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, and Virgin Killer! I had been waiting for remastered versions of these albums to be released in the US, as they did with Lonesome Crow, Taken By Force, and Tokyo Tapes. Since that hasn't happened, this is your best alternative.

The standard warning on 70's era Scorpions music applies here. This isn't the Scorpion's everyone knows and loves from the 1980's. Their sound was very different during the 1970's due to Ulrich Roth's influence. His songs are more jazzy/psychedelic and his singing is very different than Klaus Meine's, or anyone else you've ever heard. Someone exploring 1970's era Scorpions for the first time may want to start with Taken By Force or the excellent live album Tokyo Tapes as the price is much lower and both albums are a good representation of the band's sound during this time. For everyone else familiar with the Scorpions of the 1970's, buy this set! You won't be disappointed. Where else can you get three great import albums for under $40?

5 out of 5 stars THE 2, I MEAN THE 3 BEST SCORPIONS ALBUMS EVER.......2007-05-16

these are truly the best scorpions albums ever... In Trance and Virgin Killer. Very well digitally mastered and complete with liner notes and photos but the best is... The 7 bonus tracks are actually all 7 tracks from the second album Fly to the Rainbow. Digitally mastered. So you actually get 3 albums at a very good price. Since these were the only 3 albums left unmastered now you can have all the catalogue remastered and sounding good...

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Geez, a German (or any) accent means one can't sing well? That's a first........2006-03-05

I haven't heard this CD (yet, but make sure to get "Tokyo Tapes" and "Virgin Killer" for their finest stuff), but I've got to say, Klaus Meine has one of the greatest hard rock voices EVER. Better than Rob Halford (Judas Priest), tonewise (or, timbre-wise, I should say, look it up... "timbre", Dictionary.com, you might learn something :), though he is great, also. So, although Uli John Roth (very worthy guitar maestro) has a somewhat, shall we say, "less than perfect" vocal delivery, Klaus Meine is a TRULY "Top Of The Bill" vocalist. Don't let the previous reviewer's comments discourage you. Based on its' preceeding CD and the following 2 CDs by the Scorpions, I'll give it a 4, since the Scorpions, at this time, were one of the hottest bands in the land (back to the '70s!).

5 out of 5 stars Tupuv de Beel!.......2005-09-17

For those who describe Klaus's vocals/lyrics as anything but ridiculous, I mean... let's get real here. Scorpions may have in fact /invented/ the whole "cheesy metal lyrics" thing. Uli's vocals are practically unlistenable, but mercifully sparse. But I mean, Hendrix's own vocals were total garbage... why don't people ever mention /this/? "Pick up my axe and fight like a farmer... BLEHEHEHAlalhaheheheeeh!!!" Yeah, /that/ guy could sing. So we can't really judge this thing on the singing. In fact the consistantly bad vocals and lyrics are what give Scorpions (can someone please show me ANYWHERE on one of their albums where they are called "The Scorpions"? Why are they constantly misreferred this way?) their charm. What we're looking at is the whole package here. And the whole package is probably one of the finest classic metal albums ever recorded. Why are these guys not given the same credit as 'Sabbath and 'Priest as pioneers? The guitar playing, production, overall sound and musicianship, sheer attitude and /balls/ make this album first rate. Robot Man and Living and Dying are SO BAD that they may be two of my favourite songs of all time. EEEEEW EEEEEEW AM DE ROBUT-MEEN! Or "Baaabe it's not a wision!!!" Geez this was back when these guys may very well have not even spoken english, but Klaus pounds these lyrics out with such conviction that you actually believe that /he/ believes them and you're singing "me-chic stooone me-chic stoooone... de me-chic stooooone!" right with along with him! Longing for Fire has easily one of the best guitar solo's ever. Uli never ceased to amaze me on those early records. If you're at all interested in his playing, listen to early Scorpions /first/ before venturing into his later solo stuff. The later is not as strong or melodic, it's actually pretty boring... and the vocals... oh god those /horrible, horrible/ vocals... they don't have any of the camp value that Klaus' have they just get you angry after awhile when you sit there thinking "like, wasn't there /anyone else/ around to tell this guy "hey like... did you like know that like... ummm.... you can't sing? Like... at all?". Has anyone ever seen any early Scorpions concert videos? Is it just me or was Klaus like a skinny Vin Diesel with long hair? It's hilarious.

3 out of 5 stars Scorpions Better Not Get Into A Trance (3.5 stars).......2005-03-24

Look, Scorpions are the best rockers, but this album absolutely not my favorite CD, and it never will. 'Dark lady' rocks, but it's better in live. 'In Trance' is a very good number. But next: 'Live's Like A River' is average. When you hear it for the first time, it aint bad. But it'll make you bored. 'Top of the Bill', the beginning is spectacular, but the Chorus is very disapointing. 'Living And Dying' is nice. Not worthless, just nice. 'Robot Man' is one of my favorite rockers. But 'Evening Wind' and 'The Sun In My Hand' really suck. I thought, Roth could better stop song writing. But he's getting better at the Virgin Killer and Taken By Force albums. 'Longing For Fire' is nice. 'Night Lights' is a instrumental song, and I thought that this is typically Ulrich Roth. Listen it more then just once and you start liking it. Keep On Rocking!

4 out of 5 stars First MasterPiece.......2004-10-14

This fantastic album, released in 1975, was the Scorpions' 3rd album and definately one of the best they've come up with. With outstanding solos done by the great Ulrich Roth, brilliant and original rhythms and perhaps the best percussion ever on a Scorpions album, too bad that Rudy Lenners (drummer at the time) developed heart problems; and ,of course, Klaus sounds fantastic. Of the tracklist the songs that shine the most are the title track ballad, Top of the Bill (song about selling out), Dark Lady (sang by Ulrich),Robot Man (amazing rhytms in this one) and my personal favorite "Longing For Fire" (bass driven song).
If you like TRUE Scorpions this a MUST, I wonder if this lineup would have stayed through the 80's ?

5 out of 5 stars Great album that deserves more recognition.......2004-07-17

I can't believe that this album isn't as well known as Lovedrive, Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement and Crazy World cause I think that this is a strong album, so strong that it's one of the few albums where it doesn't have a filler track, how many albums can I say that about? I don't see why people criticize about Uli Roth's singing cause to me it doesn't matter who sings as long as I enjoy it, and I think that it's mean for some people to mention Uli Roth as a bad imitation of Jimi Hendrix, in my opinion, this album is good rock 'n' roll and I'm happy to own this album, I think that the instrumental Night Lights is one of the most beautiful songs they ever recorded and it was a good way to close out the album, unfortunately this album is hard to find and we rock/metal fans think that it shouldn't be the case.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Its ok.......2007-06-19

I picked this up a few days ago, and was a bit undewhelmed by it. While the comp is fun, its a little too eclectic to be a cohesive release. The tracks generally don't seem to flow well(Jewel transitioning into the Bosstones just doesn't work for me) The cd is, however, a gold mine of B-sides, so if your a nerd like me, the one rare track by a favorite band is worth the low cost of the compilation. Strongest track for me was Paddle Out by Sublime. Not rare, but its sticks with me. the weakest track was the abomination of a Beach Boys' song.

5 out of 5 stars ASTOUNDING!!!!.......2005-11-07

One word describes this CD and that is Astounding. All the songs are great, and some our very intersting. This is one of the best Cds I own. My favorite of course is Summer in Paradise by The Beach Boys. The lyrics are what we are living with now.

Please read these lryics as, we need to speak up and speak out about our world and our enviorment.
"Remeber WE are the enviorment"
Thanks and please purchase this CD!!

Way back when well our master plan
Was havin' fun fun fun as America's band
Well we came out rockin' with Rhonda and Barbara ann.
Singin' of surf and sand

Now when we look back over all the fun we had
If our lifestyle's over now it sure is sad
We gotta get back to livin' without a care
Give me sunshine water and an ozone layer

Paradise is a state of mind
Where mother nature nurtures and man is kind
We need a change now wouldn't it be nice
If we could bring back summer

Get us back our summer
Summer in paradise
(paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise)

They chop down the forests
And in their haste leave a trail of destruction
And toxic waste is leavin' no one safe
In their home or their habitat
Can't let it go like that

Too much consumption and too much greed
When you consider all the people
That are livin' in need
Interdependence in this world is a natural fact
And we're all under attack

It's the eve of destruction or so they say
But mankind doesn't have to go that way
If we all get together we can make things right
And we can bring back summer
(chorus)

Everybody knows that you reap what you sew
all they way from california to kokomo
We're gonna keep on rockin'
And raisin' world consciousness
We gotta fix this mess

Looked in the future and what i saw
Was a world in harmony with natural law
Singing with the whales and the birds up high

Bring back summer
Get us back our summer
Summer in paradise

(paradise)
Summer in paradise (paradise ( Summer in paradise (paradise)

5 out of 5 stars correction.......2005-07-28

Awesome CD! Although I've had it for years I just realized that Offspring's Dirty Magic is actually a song called Get It Right. Dirty Magic is a completely different song. Weird...

4 out of 5 stars This is Good.......2002-07-16

This is a great cd. The only suggestion i have is that Jewel's track be taken off so you could listen to the whole thing without skipping a single song. Otherwise, its verry good.

5 out of 5 stars greatest comp ever.......2002-05-18

this album is for anyone who love to relax one second, then be blown away the next one each and every track on this album will make you think and moby's song will almost make you flip out all in alll this is a perfect album that everybody should pick up you will be pleased

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Better than ever.......2001-12-05

The UK version of the Now CDs have been out longer than the America version, and are therefore much better. They've had more time to perfect it. The UK version isn't biased to the top 12 songs on the billboard chart at that time. The UK Now adds techno songs, pop songs, hardcore/punk songs and something for everyone. There is more of a selection, more up to date and is made for a larger audience. Much better than anything the American version can ever do!

4 out of 5 stars Good as Usual, but songs missing.......2001-01-25

These albums are always good, this one especially, maybe because the quality of songs was high at the end of last year. They feature most of the songs which were big last Autumn (Fall) and Leann Rimes got to #1 after this CD was released. But as always some songs seem out of place and many are missing. I just wish i could choose what songs would get on, now that would be fun

4 out of 5 stars What Ugly Colors.......2000-12-29

Now 47 has the worst cover color out of all the NOW CDs to date. However, the songs are still up there in quality. I do have a couple of complaints, though. The songs all seem to be hits from a little way back (maybe I'm just ungrateful about my Christmas presents :-)

Songs which I felt should have been put on the CD, and which I notice aren't on the NOW 5 CD either, are "Music" by Madonna and Walking Away by Craig David. They're really good, popular songs, but the guys who make the NOWs still didn't put it on either disc! But I'm not really complaining - Rock DJ, It's My Life, Pure Shores, Natural, Kids, Time to Burn and Who Let the Dogs Out? were really good, and I have enjoyed them immensly. Still not 100% yet, though, hence only 4 stars - keep trying, guys.

5 out of 5 stars THE Pop Album of 2000!!.......2000-11-30

    Customer Reviews:

    4 out of 5 stars NICE!!!!.......2005-09-18

Ok... as an avid fan of hardCORE techno, this is the first hardstyle CD I've ever purchased, and WOW, was my first impression good! I would say both CD's are equal in their quality. As for the "euphoric" sound mentioned by "Beau," well, you can almost completely forget it, except for a couple tracks. But what you can expect is STRONG bass, SCREAMING melodies, COMMANDING rhythms, and a general overtone of urgency and power to the music that screams "MOVE!!!" at the top of it's lungs. Get ready to be taken over by the beats. This is Hardstyle. This is perfection. This is POWER!!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Amazing........2005-08-12

This CD is great. The tracks were amazing and met every expectation of mine.. This is without a doubt, hardstyle. I love it. If you're looking for HARDtrance with great potential for making you wanna get up and dance, this IS the cd for you.

And to Beau, and anyone who loses interest in this cd after reading his review.. yes,i agree, this is not the euphoric type of trance, but why? because its not supposed to be. this is EUROPEAN HARD TRANCE--this is how its supposed to sound-- like HARDCORE techno with some melodic structure. so if thats what you're looking for then by all means, go and get this cd. you will be pleased. I was =]

3 out of 5 stars This is not trance..........2004-12-31

This is like Hard House. There's really nothing trancy about either CD at all... There is 0% build, 0% melody, 0% euphoria. However, it is a very powerful CD, and does have a catchy style. If you want to smash, and smash HARD, then these CD's will do it for you. It all sounds very similar, but that isn't necessarily all bad. And it never gets anywhere close to popish trance, so you're safe from that.

If you're looking for more melodic trance, check out armin van buuren, old skool tiesto, and even paul oakenfold (minus bunkka).

4 out of 5 stars The True essence of Trance.......2004-05-28

If you are looking for energy or you are crave of Trance music, This one is for you. Made up of a cool collection of hard house rhythms that keep the dance floor jamming. Hard Bass and techno beats have the energy that will wake the dead. Perfectly mixed by NEURODISC's own BLUTONIUM BOY (aka DJ SESSION ONE) this 17 track CD has a street date of May 17, 2004. High energy is a understatement for this HARD Style. I wonder why are they calling it European Hard Trance? A lot of clubs here in the US are playing this same style. NEURODISC known for high energy and heavy trance styles and house groove has had much success with release like this. Many club goers want to leave the club with the same music in their car changer. Others want to get into the mood before they make it to the club. Never the less it's a cool joint to have at home, on the road, or on the beach! Produced by the industry's finest, DJ BONE CRUSHER, GARY D., DJ VIRUS, KAI JAXX and BLUTONIUM BOY.

        5 out of 5 stars Get it!!!!.......2002-04-14

.... This cd is great, hard pumping music u can listen to over and over. Forget gatecrasher, teo tribes etc, fantic is real music and this cd has it all. Disc 1..ok, disc 2 dosent stop!!
Frantic 2002 with A. Farley & Phil Reynolds ...grab that to.

        5 out of 5 stars Frantic - it doesn't get much better.......2002-01-09

Forget your over-hyped 'super club' releases from '01, because if you're looking for the Hard House/Progressive sound of the 'future', then Frantic is your CD.

Phil Reynolds' CD is magic - so good in fact that you could purchase this CD as a stand alone - with a bonus Ed Real disc (no offensive to Ed!).

Blistering stuff - kicking off with 'First Strike', to the superb PVD remix of '1998', all the way through to the closing of 'Get a rush' and 'Neuro Dancer' - you can't beat it - and a couple of great K-90 tracks included as well!

The strongest CD I've heard in a long time (probably since GC 'Wet'), and with music like this it won't be long until Frantic starts doing the 'international' thing too.
