5 out of 5 stars A Surprise Hit Album.......2006-07-03

Yeah, I know, you probably see the album cover and think this album is [...] WRONG!!!! This album is very good with exceptional lyrics and awesome bass booming beats. Songs like, "Room to Breathe" and "This is a Visit", are the cream of the crop; along with "Natural People" and "Radioactive" not too far behind. The best part about this album is the rap songs that make you want to kick back and chill to, like "Catch the Wave" and "Summertime", which are also great to listen to during the summer months. So, if you are looking for some good rhymes and some soothing bass beats without all the curse words, then this is your type of album.

5 out of 5 stars It's a crime this album didn't get more notice........2006-02-16

If you want to hear visionary hip hop before El-P start with his sound, listen to this album.
Bosco Money rhymed like few others did at the time (as well as today) and Sam Sever's production was years ahead of its time.
Pick up this album.

5 out of 5 stars so many memories from this album.......2005-06-19

I have never kept a CD around as long as I have this one. This CD is so chill that it became the comedown CD of choice. If your looking for a CD to relax to, this is it. Omni Trio has perfected the art in this CD. I still listen to the CD occasional, but honestly when I do I can only remember the good old mornings around 6am when the party was over and car ride home would begin.

5 out of 5 stars Omni Trio - Haunted Science.......2001-06-26

A slightly mixed bag here, but several tracks make the purchase worthy. The opening tracks lean towards a cool jazz feel, tracks are kept clean with good production, even if there is not much going on sometimes. tracks 4-7 highlight a more melencholy sound, with heavy atmospheres and tangible mood, this was my favorite part of the cd.. and indeed some of the best work in Rob's catalog. The tones are at times almost reminicent of "Orbital" during 'the box' period.. and the mood conveyed is almost the same. Recomended.

5 out of 5 stars Its beautiful -a fusion of contemporary jazz and jungle.......1999-08-17

The Haunted Science album is fantastic. But check out the Haunted Kind track on that album. All my friends fell in love with Omni Trio after listening to that particular track. It touches the very depth of your soul. Omni trio fans should try their Skeleton Keys album. Watch out for the Silver and Red Rain tracks on the album.

5 out of 5 stars Massive gorgeousity!.......1998-11-08

This doesn't even sound like the same group who did "Music For the Next Millienum." Leading you on a fantastic journey through upbeat, jazzy and sometimes loungy rhythms, with gorgeous background piano and synthetic orchestral manuevers.

Percussion, while making a strong presence, is not overemphasized.

5 out of 5 stars woo-ooh-ooooh!!!.......2004-06-12

this cd has the best of both worlds-the trippy funk instrumentals ala "woo, the other side",and it also includes some bumpin club-type tunes that seriously pound!there are some lighthearted raps in a few cards, too.the fact that bootzilla and g-clinton make lengthly guest appearances is a cool thing, always!I admit to having some hesitation before listening to it,but it really is a trippy,p-funky addition to my collection.

5 out of 5 stars woo wizardry in effect.......2001-10-26

bernie came back funky, this is what i think he woiuld have did back in the 70's but was'nt given enough time cause the funk mob did so many songs damn the family series ain't even half the unreleased p-funk catalog, anyway bernie delivers the funk as usual, some of this sounds like some ghetto opera, ghetto vincent price stuff, scary like bernie did back when he made kidd funkadelic the synthesized version of maggot brain, but all flavors of funk are on here, maceo, bootsy, george clinton, mudbone a lot of folks come and help bernie out, a must for all p-funk fans for dj's and producers looking for a beat check this funk out.

4 out of 5 stars Bumping.......2000-02-18

anybody that comes out the P' Funk Mob has the juice.and Bernie Worrell is no exception.he is scary talented.from funk to classical.this disc reflects that&more.he is a Keyboard Genius.it's cool having Bootsy&George on this set.a real treat for Funadelic Funkateers.

4 out of 5 stars Maestro of P-Funk Fame shows his Versatility.......1999-11-09

I enjoyed this entire album. This CD demonstrates what a versatile musician Bernie Worrell really is. Chiefly known for his work with Parliament/Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band and the dozens of other P-Funk incarnations, Bernie Worrell is also a classically trained musician who can transcend the labels into which we like to pigeonhole artists. Listeners will hear elements of jazz, blues, classical musings and good ole-fashioned funky grooves. I gave special kudos to the interplay between Worrell and Tony Williams on "Blood Secrets," and the classical sounding "Revelation in Black Light." Bernie Worrell is a total musician. Any fan of P-funk must have this recording.

4 out of 5 stars Great new stuff from an old time funker........1999-01-27

This album shows listeners the classical mix with sounds of todays music. Combined with funkers from the Parliament/Funkadelic days, "Bootsy Collins, Gary Cooper, and George Clinton, this album is a must for funk fans. Bernie mixes his classical schoolings with modern sounds. A twist for the average music listener, "Bootsy Collins" plays acuostic bass in his selected tracks. Bernie and Bill Laswell did an excellent job producing a master of a project. After 25 plus years of listening to these guys they always seem to amaze me with their talent. Congratulations Bernie!

5 out of 5 stars Spooky's best mix album yet!.......2004-02-26

If you are like me 'Necropolis' was a slightly too experimental and 'Under the Influence' and 'Modern Mantra' were not experimental enough. 'Rhythm Science' fits somewhere right in the middle, and features a completly unique style only featured on this mix. Many of the tracks mix spoken word with dubby down tempo beats, but what is most interesting is how Spooky is constantly switching up what is in the foreground and what plays the background. Normally I find spoken word a little corny and would prefer an ill underground mc instead, but these are real poets on here...very cerebral but fun at the same time. Perfect!

          Album Description

Bristol's Full Cycle label sign their first down beat artist and leave behind their trademark rolling drum and bass sound for something altogether more relaxing, and the results are nothing short of perfection.

The debut album by Mark Young aka Third Face is a graceful and meaning pirouette through Mark's experiences in jazz, hip-hop, classical, samba, indian, percussion, soul and drum and bass. Creating a sinuous blend of live and electronic sounds, he has marshaled an admirable selection of players and vocalists, not least, the sultry, etheral tones of Audrey Okere-Fosu, guitar of David Gawthorpe, and horns of Pork favorite Bernard Moss.

Influential DJ's like Gilles Peterson, LTJ Bukem, 4 Hero, Aim, Amalgamation of Soundz, Patrick Forge and many more have already offered their praise and support of this promising new artist and his fantastic debut.

Luckily for me I was born early enough to witness every stage of Hip Hop & the true school (about 1985 to 1994) was in my opinion the rawest, a period when lyrical prowess, hard beats & uniqueness were what really mattered (today its all visual nonsense & weak beats)-well the juice crew formed by super-producer Marley Marl embodied what rap is supposed to be about, this 2disc set is a hot dedication to the tightest lyrical crew of all time. Disc1 is basically a mixtape with Marley putting in work on the wheels & disc2 are the singles. I would highly recommend this set... oh yeah the raw freestyle with Kane & Kool G are real rough rhymes at their best. JUICE CREW 4EVER

Producer/songwriter Stick who used to work with H-Town and Ideal has formed band O'Flava Psi. If you like H-Town and Link, this is the same kind of sexy soul, aimed to please your ears. Great vocals, good tunes, flawless production. A good mix of some Snoopy-ish hip-hop tracks and some slow old school ballads. "Ain't No High" partly borrows its hook from Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine", but stands strong in its own right as one of the best out of my good tunes. ....
