4 out of 5 stars Problably the most underrated Motorhead-album.......2006-03-20

Rock N Roll is the second album with Phil Campbell and Wursel on guitar and Motorhead proves that they haven't lost anything to the old days with Eddie. In fact, they've problably gained a lot when it comes to musical-skills and inspiration.
Allthough, the album starts of kind of mediocre and the best songs are placed in the second half. Not that there are any bad songs, they just aren't in the "Masterpiece-class" with the majority of Motorhead's songs.

Rock 'N' Roll (7/10) - A good song, but without any doubt the weekest title track Motorhead has written. Nice lyrics though.

Eat the Rich (7/10) - Yes, the lyrics are funny and all but the chorus gets pretty annoying after a while.

Blackheart (8/10) - Has an awesome riff that saves the entire song. The crowd that shouts "Blackheart" in the background includes former drummer Pete Gill and Queens guitarist Brian May.

Stone Deaf in the USA (7/10) A strange echo in the background makes it a bit weird. Great solo in the end.

The Wolf (8/10) - The fastest one on the album. Sounds a lot like Mean Machine from Orgasmatron.

Traitor (8/10) - A great track in every way. Problably my favorite lyrics on the album.

Dogs (8/10) - Awesome chorus and guitars. The drums could be a bit faster though.

All for You (9/10) - It's really amzing that Motorhead could write a such sensitive song (these days they do it all the time). Should have been a hit, and it's really not to late for that.

Boogeyman (9/10) - It should have been the title track as it was ment to be from the beginning. A killer tune in every way.

*Cradle to the Grave (9/10) - Why, in God's holy name, did they left out this one from the album? It didn't deserve to be a B-side to Eat the Rich. It should've been the other way around.

*Just 'Cos You Got the Power (10/10) - Another bonus track, but it was made after the album was realesed. A huge shame, since it's one of the greatest songs ever by Motorhead. Thank God that they at least include it in the live-set now and then.

Oh, and don't buy the album without the bonus tracks. It almost isn't worth it. Or maybe it is, but you'll regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Motorhead's Rock N Roll.......2006-03-02

I bought this along time ago on cassette. I enjoyed listening to it and I am looking forward went the new 2 disc edition is released. The songs and musicship is very good and it was good to see Philty back on drums.
The songs I liked were Traitor, Dogs and Rock N Roll. All for You could of and should of been radio bound. Overall another excellent Motorhead album.

4 out of 5 stars The best 80s Motorhead after ACE OF SPADES........2003-05-03

The rock, the whole rock, and nothing but the rock. ROCK 'N' ROLL has none of the duds that clutter IRON FIST and BOMBER, no filler (ORGASMATRON), and no power ballads (1916, MARCH OR DIE). The disc is worth buying for "Eat the Rich" alone, but you will also want to crank up "Rock and Roll," "The Wolf," and "Boogeyman." My one complaint is that this record is too good; it has spoiled me for the rest of Wurzel-era Motorhead.

4 out of 5 stars Very solid.......2002-09-29

This album did not receive the bestreviews at the time of its release but, looking back with hindsight, it's clear it's a very good album.

This is the album that brought back Philty Taylor on drums, and they still had Wurzel and Campbell on guitars. So, it's a EXTREMELY heavy album. THe punk ; rock swing is almost gone, it's just sheer weight! The lyrics are, as usual, very good.

5 out of 5 stars you can't boogie with the boogeyman.......2002-09-10

Wow, I can't believe nobody else has reviewed this classic. I feel compelled to write a quick review for it after reading another reviewer cutting on it elsewhere. This is one of my top five Motorhead albums (if not top three), and I own most of Motorhead's albums. "Eat The Rich", "Rock N' Roll", "Stone Deaf in the USA", "Boogeyman", "Blackheart", "All For You", and the rest of this monster all rock and rock hard. Why any Motorhead fan would rip on this masterpiece just boggles the mind. I don't have the newest edition yet so I can't say anything about the bonus tracks, but I wore out my cassette and a copy I made off the LP and I still love to hear these songs. Lemmy is at his raunchy, nasty best on several songs, yet shows intelligence and lyrical range on other tracks. If I were to introduce someone to the genius of Lemmy and Motorhead I would not hesitate to crank up this slab of greatness...

5 out of 5 stars Ripping Good Rock.......2004-07-09

You had to see the live show to know how cool they really were, but this album stands out all by itself. Its missing the slick production that a lot of crappy bands from LA were getting around the same time, but the songs are so good it'll still tear your head off. I'll take this over Ratt or White Lion anyday. RIP Slave Raider.

5 out of 5 stars Slave Raider's What Do You Know About Rock -n- Roll.......2003-08-29

I have a special place for this album. I've listened to it since I was a teenager. When I was a kid I had the tapes of this group. I kinda liked the idea of putting several songs together to make a story. From "The High Priest Of Good Times" to "Jailbreak",it was cool how they made it come together. It is too bad that this band isn't together anymore. It would be cool to hear some new stuff from these guys. Chainsaw, if you happen to read this... Do the world a favor, get your band together and MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!

Shortly said: "The Trash ´n´ Roll Asshole Show" is a new, freshly, noisy and spectacular programme in the hard music sector that is ready to kick ass! And nothing else the newcomer act from Bremen/Germany has already kicked within the last few years: 2002 the guys have found together after having played in several other projects in that region. Their aim has been clear from the beginning on - starting with something that unites all their different tastes in music, but creating something new though. A demo with the title "The Electromagnetic Superstorm" has been the result and pulled the band into the first storm of live activities. The first press feedbacks could not have been more enthusiastic. Also on the Northern German band competition "Live In Bremen" President Evil are the clear winners of the election. In front of more than 1.000 people the evil presidents are elected in the sold out "Schlachthof" out of more than 300 bands as the best one. The election winners immediately continue touring as a support act for the German successful rockers Smoke Blow and then return to the process of songwriting again. That immensely profits from the experience the band could gather with playing live. Some self confident, striking and cool grooving songs are given birth to. Songs with which the band finds together in Andy Classen `s Stage One (u.a. Dew-Scentend, Krisiun, Rykers) for recording and production. "The Trash ´n´Roll Asshole Show" celebrates its live premiere during several shows together with mit u.a. Mnemic, Ektomorf and Fireball Ministry, as well as a showcase at the German D.O.A. (Dong-Open Air). And here we go with a band that has already won their president elections way before releasing their first album. A band, that is ready to set the world on fire. Another tour together with the Israelian Betzefer in April and May will follow and be another proof for that. So make up your mind and join the election: evil for president, here comes President Evil!. Phduk.2006.
