Check This Out! Very Creative........2003-10-23
Oh, they have succeeded! I can't say enough about this CD - it's a tremendous work. From the beginning of the CD, de muse sets the mood that this will be a bit of a trip. In fact, the faded voice is an eerie foreshadow as vocals only return for the track 'sunlit' in the entire album. Sambita kicks in with a slow, heavy sun-drenched beat that kicks up to a near climax before gradually fading away. Metropolis adds a sort of bounce to the CD, more up-beat and then 'the rabbit' is a song I just love because... I do. The funkiest track though is back shop. It has a sort of soulfull glide - the mixing of old school, modern and the future. And of course, the electricity in the cut 'carioca' is pretty intense. The other tracks are also great. My favorite track is definitely Sambita - if you pump that loud, the song sort of surrounds you.
I certainly recommend this. It's one of my top cd's. Granted, it's not for everyone - the experimental side of this may sour some of the jazz or possibly even the electronic traditionalists. But if you want to hear another side to the Schema label (Nicola Conte, Gerardo Frisina, Soulstance, Rosalia de Souza, S-Tone Inc., etc.) then you really need ot pick this up! My only other recommendation - listen to this with a very good and clear stereo system. The little pieces or fragments of the music makes you hear something different with each listen.
