One Immortal Slab of Rock.......2007-05-16

You can be great for two and a half minutes and achieve immortality. "When Things Go Wrong" is one of the greatest rock songs of the Eighties. I come back to it over and over again. I have not heard the rest of the album because I keep playing that song over and over.

Still a rock'n roll. guitar-band classic.......2007-02-27

I hadn't heard this in 20 years (since I stowed my turntable and couldn't play vinyl anymore) but this still rocks just as strong as ever. Robin Lane & The Chartbusters received some fame and recognition in the 80s but never what they deserved and the singing, guitar playing, and songwriting have withstood the test of time. If you're into guitar-band music, get this CD.

One good track.......2006-11-13

The track "When things go Wrong" is great. The rest of the CD is decent but I can't recommend it.

A bit of MTV trivia.......2006-08-19

VH1 Classic recently re-broadcast all of the videos from the first 12 hours of MTV (in order plus a little bit of the original VJ commentary) in August 1981. Everybody knows that Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles was the first video ever on MTV but did you know that When Things Go Wrong by Robin Lane and The Chartbusters was shown in the first hour? And I Don't Want To Know was also shown that day?

Seeing the When Things Go Wrong video of RL and the CB's running around on a boat was a great deja vu moment for me. Great song by a band that coulda, shoulda been contenders.

Ahead of their time - The Boys rip it up wid some punk pop!.......2004-06-23

If this album was released today - the boys would be as big as the strokes. They are just as good - and this album is one of their best. It's a tough call between this one and their first one as to which is the best. This one is a tad better produced and a bit more poppy but it still rocks well enough.

It's a pityful disgrace that the members of the Boys are now either dustmen, real estate agents or pimping their daughters out!!!!! THERE IS NO GOD. They should be rock stars snorting lines of coke of some well tasty peices of ass.

But back to the music - Brickfield Nights is a power-pop punk classic. USI rocks and is well quirky. Taking On the World is a great uptempo rocker while Do the Contract Hustle gets the power pop banging out again in fine style. Not many bad tracks here - Cast Of Thousands is a great football anthem, and Schooldays and Teachers Pet are lesser known classics. Get this album and get The Boys one step closer to that tasty piece of ass. Do it now!

Power pop punk...I know they hate being categorized like punk rock...but they are! maybe these kids are not in the level of the Clash, but have memorable tracks. this is the second band release and I think the're very influenced by The Beatles, you can feel it, even they had a cover of Paul Mc Cartey on the first selftitled album.
there is a bonus track of The Yobs, a christmas cover "Silent Night"
cool band. give them a try.

Great CD if you like American or German Punk.......2001-01-06

This CD has so many great songs redone by both German and American punk bands.Most of the classics are 80s, but there are lots of other ones too. If you like any of the bands or any of the songs, I highly suggest buying the CD and trying out the others.

I am not a fan of punk but love this one..........2002-11-10

for its sheer eccentric value.
Not what you would call "hard-core" punk. Essentially a collection of mainstream pop songs given a Germanic punk treatment.
Europop meets punk rock.
Although real punk fans probably won't like it the album has a character of its own and the German treatment of popular musical genres is always worth a listen.
The album is worth the purchase price for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"
Light and fun and great feel good music- and we all need some of that from time to time.

Hey, if you're a fan of punk covers go buy Punk Chartbusters NUMBER THREE. It's better than #4. If you already have #3 this one's almost as good. Much like #3 there are a bunch of German bands I've never heard of & most of them [stink]. Standouts are The Living End's version of "Tainted Love", Schandfleck's "Torn" & "S.O.S." by the Mad caddies. Sewing With Nancy and Die Toten Hosen do good songs too.
