Donna Summer's Four Seasons of Love.......2007-04-23
This is early pre-1979 Donna Summer. If you like that silky sexual disco sound of that period, you'll enjoy this. It is a continous mix of 5 songs, one of them being a reprise. The orchestration is really fun to listen to especially on "Summer Fever" and "Spring Affair" Although Ms. Summer doesn't really perform these songs anymore, this recording will take you back to what I think was a much happier and freer time during the mid 70's. I enjoy listening to it.
"Four Seasons" of a Relationship.......2006-11-20
Let me just start by saying: This is, by far, some of Donna Summer's best work to date, with some awesome production from the Moroder/Bellotte team. The title of the album is pretty much self-explanatory. It is essentially the cycle of a relationship through the course of the seasons.
"Spring Affair" introduces us to Ms. Summer's love interest. You can almost feel the happiness in her voice as she sings, "Just the man I hoped you'd be..." By the end of the song, I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the next level of the relationship would be.
"Summer Fever" was my answer. You can feel the heat oozing through the speakers as she describes her passionate trysts with her lover. Like the old saying goes, though, "All good things must come to an end."
You can sense something wrong in the relationship through the lyrics of "Autumn Changes." She knows the demise of her relationship is just around the bend, but doesn't want it to end as she saying, "Surely something can help to patch it up." By the end of the song, the relationship is over, and there's a definite chill in the air.
"Winter Melody" sees Ms. Summer stroking her wounds, reminiscing in front of the fire she has going in her fireplace. You can hear the sadness in her voice at the loss of her love.
But then the snow begins to melt, and "Spring Reprise" has her falling for a new beau.
Definitely a must-have for any Donna Summer fan!
Donna Summer: FOUR SEASONS OF LOVE (1976).......2006-11-16
In October of 1976, Donna Summer released her fourth album entitled, FOUR SEASONS OF LOVE. This album is the first of two concept albums delivered to our hands by Donna Summer. The concept of this album is as the title explains: FOUR SEASONS OF LOVE, describing love in all four seasons. Still confused? All right, read on.
SPRING AFFAIR
The first single from the album. An awesome song that describes a love affair during the beautiful season of Spring.
SUMMER FEVER
An awesome song describing a hot steamy affair during the sweaty season of Summer.
AUTUMN CHANGES
A great song describing an affair during the cool breezes of Autumn.
WINTER MELODY
A beautiful track describing the affair during the beautiful white snowy days of Winter.
SPRING (Reprise)
A great reprise to "Spring Affair".
This was a great concept album, and, again, it gave Donna Summer, yet another major hit: "Spring Affair". Great album, and it should already be owned by all Donna Summer fans.
Defines the Era.......2005-12-29
This album defines Disco. Every classic style and sound of the disco era is captured here. The songs are masterfully executed in both composition and production. Notwithstanding the multitude of 70's classics, to describe the disco sound one need only listen as far as these recordings. You hear drum beats, bass lines, electronic synthesizers, violins, horns, and vocal harmonies blended into perfectly balanced hypnotic rhythms or melodic ballads.
One of Donna's Best.......2005-09-08
This is a definite must have for your Donna Summer collection. Excellent. Thank you Donna.

Donna Summer: A LOVE TRILOGY (1976).......2006-11-16
In March of 1976, Donna Summer released her third album entitled, A LOVE TRILOGY, another album for Donna to further her style in the Disco era. This is an album not to miss, for it is an awesome album that goes deeper into the sound of Disco.
TRY ME, I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT
The first single from the album. This 18:00 (eighteen minutes) track is nothing short of a classic. This is an awesome tune, and you can really dance away the night with this track.
Intro: PRELUDE TO LOVE
This track is the start of the third track, which is entitled "Could It be Magic". It only plays out to a minute, six seconds, which is the very start of "Could It Be Magic".
COULD IT BE MAGIC
The second single from the album. Back in 1973, Barry Manilow had originally written and recorded this track, and it was released as his first-ever single. His original recording of "Could It Be Magic" is a power ballad that should have been well-received by the public, but for some reason, it wasn't. Donna Summer was the first person (if I'm not mistaken) to record a cover of Barry Manilow's track. Her rendition is this here Disco-enthused version, where after she released it as the second single from this album, it became a huge hit for Donna Summer. Barry Manilow, after hearing Donna Summer's rendition and the response she received from it, wound up taking his recording of the song back into the studio and remixing the music to the track (without touching his vocals), where he then re-released it as a single, where it was better received than the first time round. This is a great cover version and it is one of my all-time favorite songs (both from Barry Manilow and Donna Summer).
WASTED
Great.
COME WITH ME
Awesome.
Hmm, the second album from Donna Summer to have no more than five or six tracks on it. Kind of odd, but however the case maybe, this album ranks up there with LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY, and it shows that Donna Summer was well on her way to becoming the Queen of Disco.
How About A Nice STEAMY ORGASM FOR DINNER???.......2006-05-26
Love Trilogy is one of the sexiest albums i have ever heard and it finds Ms. Summer in full steamy siren mode.
"Try me,I know we can make it" grooves along with hot dripping sensuality and captures Donna singing a seductive breathy falsetto throughout and then bulking up her vocals to tell you that "we can make it if we try".
Are you willing to make it with Donna or is it too much for you to handle????
"A prelude to love" finds Donna confessin',pleadin' and panting away in hot smoldering ecstacy which leads into the classic rendition of "Could it be magic".
Donna gives this Manilow classic a sexiness mixed with a contained yet fragile urgency that the original never had and you can feel the desperation and heartfelt sincerity in Donna's delivery resulting in one of her most compelling performances.
"Wasted" is a great little funky dance number which will get your feet shuffling and your body grooving and "Come with Me" closes out this love trilogy with a shake your booty get down and boogie disco vibe that's so hot that you'll need to call your lover to release that fire scorching from within you or to cool down those family jewels...
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
Simply put, Love Trilogy is a finger lickin' lip smackin' disco classic and is without a doubt the SEXIEST Donna Summer album ever.
So get those fingers walking and let the music do the talking....
O.F.
Hot Stuff!!! :).......2006-03-14
Why I didn't purchase this when it first came out,I'll never know! This is probably one of Donna's stongest albums that she has recorded. From "Try Me...to Come With Me"each song has a wonderful sound and just fun to dance to.I have almost every one of her albums/CD's. Just waiting for her to put something new out! I did purchase the CD single "I Got Your Love" and was very pleased.Thank you,Donna, for all the wonderful dance music you've contributed to the music scene and has been a part of my life for all these years! I love to love you baby! :) If you don't have this CD,purchase it! It's great!
A Love Trilogy.......2006-01-09
One of Miss Summer's early nice works. I really like especially,"Try me..." which is over 17 minutes. All of the cuts are good, too.The CD itself is of superb quality. Disco music lovers must have this album.

GOTTA HAVE IT!.......2007-03-15
I was there. Nothing like "Love to Love You, Baby" (extended) had ever been heard before. And nothing like it since. I don't know that it kicked off the "disco era" (that had been around for awhile), but this song kicked it into the stratosphere overnight. Miss Summer and Mr. Moroder nailed a time in the civilized world that's never been equaled. Remember? A ten-year window in human history where making love was celebrated: post-fem-lib and pre-AIDS. There were other Disco Divas. Gloria Gaynor? "I Will Survive?" Thelma Houston? "Don't Leave Me This Way?" So many.
The extended cut of "Love to Love You, Baby" is worth every penny. It's the "Mona Lisa" of Disco.
But check out "Full of Emptiness." Never heard it before now, 30 years later. Amazing. Deceptively simple (YOU figure out the beat count and let me know: this takes Burt Bacharach and Hal David's slightly off-kilter measures in "Anyone Who Had a Heart" to unprecedented pop levels), endlessly listenable.
Gotta have it.
Donna Summer: LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY (1975).......2006-11-16
In 1975, Donna Summer released her second album entitled, LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY. This album is so much better than that of 1974's LADY OF THE NIGHT. I was really impressed with this album. It is an album that started Donna Summer's spotlight in the Disco era. Read on.
LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY
The first single from the album. This track, obviously being the album's title track, is simply amazing. Before the creation of this album, Donna Summer had only recorded this song, which ran to only 4:02 (four minutes, two seconds), where she then released it as a single. When the single was widely received all over the world, including the states, Casablanca Records (Donna Summer's record label) decided to make an album out of the single, where they took "Love To Love You Baby" and extended it into a Extended 12" format, where it runs to 16:51 (Sixteen minutes, fifty-one seconds). This is a classic song.
FULL OF EMPTINESS
Great.
NEED-A-MAN BLUES
Great.
WHISPERING WAVES
Awesome.
PANDORA'S BOX
Great.
FULL OF EMPTINESS (Reprise)
Great reprise.
I know, this is a very short album. But, the point is this short album is an awesome album, with an awesome full-length version of "Love To Love You Baby". Donna Summer fans should all have this in their collection.
A very different Donna Summer "record".......2006-07-24
'Love to Love You Baby' is very different from most of the albums Summer has made. Apart from her debut 'Lady of The Night', which this record most resembles, the records she made in the 70's were disco-synth, while in the 80's she switched to a more light rock-pop/rb sound. The only "disco" song here is the title song. The rest are sexy, moody rb/blues. This "record" is basically a single, with four short b-sides. The single of course would be 'Love to Love You Baby', which is almost 17 minutes long, and on the vinyl pressings took up the whole first side, which just made it seem more like a single. No wonder so many people never even bothered with side 2. This version of the song is a little strange, because it sounds like they connected a 10 minute version of the song with a 7 minute version, and tried to pass it off as one big song with an interlude in the middle. We get the basic song with the vocals, then a long interlude made up of complete silence and some instrumentals in the middle, and then all the sudden the song seems to start again right from the beginning. It's still good, but I think I perfer the radio edit. On side two, we get some pretty good bluesy/rb songs, along with a very short reprise of the sort of creepy 'Full of Emptiness' at the end. The best of these is 'Pandora's Box', which should have been a single. The thing that really dissapointed me was that Donna hardly ever shows off her voice on these songs except for on 'Pandora's Box'. All in all, I wouldn't reccomend this to someone who is just a fan of the song 'Love to Love You Baby', a casual Donna fan, or someone who wants to dance--you should get one of her compilations, which always have this song no matter what. But this is needless to say essential for big Donna Summer fans.
the queen of disco .......2006-07-11
this women open manys doors for many woman as far dance music she led the way for Madonna and gloria etsefan by the way madonna has said it herself many times is that donna summer is her main influence i saw donna on tv saturday talking about her career she talk about the hard that she had to go thought she said thankful for the hard times she was the 70,s she happy with the career she had madonna has made her own disco cd she would happy with.
Before "When Harry Met Sally"..........2006-06-18
The aforementioned theatrical film is known for Meg Ryan's simulated "orgasm" but it pales in comparison to Donna Summer's sexually-charged moaning in the title cut from the 1975 release, the song that brought her international recognition. In its vinyl incarnation, the title track took up the entire "A-side" and the singer would have a similar format in her next two releases.
But, it is this single song that stands as the spark that ignited the career of the singer that would define the "disco era".
And for that, this reviewer loves Donna, baby.

Contemporary Dance Floor Fun.......2007-01-17
Since her last non-holiday Studio Album in 1991, Mistaken Identity (see my review), Donna Summer has continued to record Dance Music club hits. As an example see my review of Love Is The Healer.
From 2005, Donna gave us I Got Your Love. This up to date track is a fun song made for the clubs, this may not be earth-shattering like I Feel Love, or I Need You, but it shows that Donna can be as up to date as she chooses to be, and reminds the many wannabe Dance Divas who the Queen is.
A number of club mixes are featured here with the Vocal Anthem mix being this reviewers favorite, and the original single version of the song, the best overall.
Enjoy!
Ken
Viva la diva.......2006-10-17
In one word....BRILLIANT! Forget all the 'wanna be diva's' Britney et al...this is the real thing. If radio stations werent so ageist this would have been a major smash 'comeback' single for the true dance diva.
ONE GREAT SONG FROM THE ULTIMATE DIVA.......2006-07-23
"I GOT YOUR LOVE"; IS A GREAT DANCE SONG, YOU WILL ENJOY IT, DANCE IT AND LOVE IT, THE ULTIMATE DANCE DIVA SHINES AGAIN!
More treats from Donna Summer.......2006-07-20
This CD is not available in Canada, but I obtained it through Amazon.com. Donna Summer never fails to disappoint her fans. Her vocals are still as strong and beautiful as ever. This CD is a must have for Donna's fans who are still hoping for a full length album from the strongest voice in dance music today. If you love Donna, you will be pleased with this wonderful CD.
Dance Music Confection - A Real Treat!.......2006-06-23
Originally heard in Episode 81 of Season 6 of the HBO series SEX AND THE CITY entitled "The Post-It Always Sticks Twice" and after much debate and speculation whether this song would ever be commercially available, we (the fans) are finally given a great treat.
After a radio-friendly version was made available on I-TUNES late last year, this song (the latest of a string of singles, soundtrack contributions and extra tracks on "greatest hits" or "best of" packages) is given the remix treatment from LEX, Ralphi Rosario and Eddie Baez. The track Listing is as follows:
1. I Got Your Love [Ralphi Rosario Extended Mix]
2. I Got Your Love [Ralphi Rosario Dub]
3. I Got Your Love [L. E. X. Club]
4. I Got Your Love [L. E. X. Radio Edit]
5. I Got Your Love [Eddie Baez Vocal Anthem Mix]
6. I Got Your Love [Original Radio Edit]
All of the remixes are danceable enough. The LEX mixes are particularly different from the others, and contain ad-libs and alternative vocals and harmonies not heard in the other mixes. The Eddie Baez mix is the one you've heard in the clubs, and the Raphi Rosario mixes are, like most his stuff, drum-heavy.
I am not gonna be the one to say that this song doesn't compare to Ms. Summer's previous work; And I'm not gonna be the one to say that this little dance confection is "beneath" her.
It's quite good.
But Dance Music has evolved since the Disco-heyday of the 1970's. We'll probably never get to hear real masterpieces in Dance Music ever again. Songs like "I Feel Love" and "MacArthur Park" had their time in the sun, and we love them!
With the success of both "Power Of Love" from the Luthor Vandross Tribute CD and this song, let's hope that it will spark enough interest in the vast talent Ms. Summer possesses to get that record deal from Burgundy Records, as is rumoured to be the case. Then we could have a full-length CD of all-new music to treasure (It would be the first since 1991's MISTAKEN IDENTITY) instead of remixes of old hits (a la Masters At Work's 1995 remix of "I Feel Love") and extra tracks (a la Thunderpuss 2000's 1999 remix of "Love Is The Healer"). Having seen Donna perform live 5 times (including her nearly-identical 2005 and 2006 tours) I think I speak for all of Donna's fans when I say that we would love to hear something new from our favorite Diva!
Overall, these remixes are great. A real treat.

More remakes---argh.......2005-10-22
Give me a break people. A tribute to Donna Summer with really bad remakes. The only track worth anything is the Laura Brannigan redo of Dim All The Lights. If you like that track then buy Laura's album its worth it. Other than that save your money and dont buy this sad CD of bad remakes. Here's an idea...how bout some fresh music. Between Hollywood and the record industry, the continuous reworking of old material is wearing thin.
Tribute to the queen.......2005-10-02
At last, a tribute CD to the lady who ignited dancefloors all over the world. This compilation is a tribute to Donna Summer and comprises some of Summer's hits covered by a diverse array of artists. Most of the songs had been released over the years, and a couple ('Could it be Magic' by Eldissaare and 'Last Dance by Status Fly') are new recordings.
Also available on this disc (and my reason for getting it, LOL!!) is the dance mix of Whenever There is Love by Donna and Bruce Roberts. 4 stars for this alone!!
Track list is as follows;
'No More Tears (Enough is Enough)' by Jocelyn Brown & Kim Mazelle
'Bad Girls' by Juliet Roberts
'Heaven Knows' by Michelle Weeks
'Love is in Control (Finger on the trigger)' by Sheena Easton
'Dim All The Lights' by Laura Branigan
'Dinner With Gershwin' by Brenda Russell
'Sunset People' by EG Daily
'Love to Love You Baby' by Tom Tom Club
'I Feel Love' - Soft Cell
'Whenever There is Love' by Bruce Roberts duet with Donna Summer
'More, More, More/Love to Love You Baby medley' by Samantha Fox
'Could it be Magic' by Eldissa
'Last Dance' by Status Fly
What can I say. Nobody could top a Donna Summer song. Sultry and breathy one minute, playful the next, fiery and powerful the next.
Juliet Lewis stays true to the original on 'Bad girls', while Eldissa and Status Fly try some jazzy innovations on 'Could it be magic' and 'Last dance' respectively. Brenda Russell (who penned the song) does her version of the fabulous 'Dinner with Gershwin'.
What with Donna Summer's fantastic cover of 'Power of love' on the Luther Vandross tribute CD 'So amazing' and her bubbly, upbeat iTunes exclusive 'I got your love', and her recent sold out summer tour of the US, methinks it is time for a Summer revival. Big time!
A smorgasbord of 20 years of covers...with a few disasters near the end.......2005-09-27
While Donna covers a Luther Vandross track on the new tribute CD to him, she gets her own tribute here. But rather than have artists do all modern takes on Donna's songs, this collection just gathers covers that have been done over the years, dating as far back as 1983. It actually has some rareties and plenty of divas. Here's my take on some of these tunes:
1. enough is enough...kym mazelle and Jocelyn browne (5:56) (surprisingly, this is a rather cheesy hi-nrg cover, the type you'd hear at a tea dance on fire island. Fun to listen to, though).
2. bad girls...Juliet Roberts (4:00) (very similar to the original, with an updated house rhythm. Good cover from mid-90s).
3. Heaven Knows...michelle weeks (4:07) (Slammin' cover from a few years back. Very peak hour-hunt down the longer version if you can. It's on a couple of circuit party compilations).
4. Love is in Control...sheena Easton (5:11) (really bad housey cover of what I consider one of Donna's worst recordings. Sheena sounds completely uninterested in singing this dull track. I don't blame her).
5. Dim All the Lights...laura branigan (4:44) (modest house version from Laura's greatest hits CD. Laura's powerful vocals give it a bit of a gritty edge).
6. Dinner with Gershwin...Brenda Russell (4:33) (Brenda covers her own song, considering she wrote it. Donna's version has a stronger, heavier beat).
7. Sunset People...EG Daily (4:35) (taken from EG's Wild Child LP way back in 86, you're not likely to find this one on CD anywhere else. Harold Faltemeyer produced her album, so the cover is in familiar hands here! It's given a more rock/synth 80s style remake).
8. love to love you baby...tom tom club (4:35) (They opted for this cover instead of the No Doubt version from the Zoolander soundtrack-another hot cover version. Recorded a few years ago, well past Tom Tom Club's prime, this is their trademark sound. Adolescent vocals, quirky synth blips, and a slow yet funky groove.)
9. I Feel Love...Softcell (5:48) (Um...someone's gonna get sued over this one. This is NOT softcell, it's Marc Almond solo in a duet with bronski beat/Jimmy Sommerville. It's also the I Feel Love/Johnny medley, not just I Feel Love, with a "love to Love you baby" outro. This is the shorter version, not the 12" version.)
10. Wherever there is love...Donna Summer & Bruce Roberts (4:06) (radio edit of the Junior Vasquez dance mix. The disc should have ended here....)
11. More more more/love to love you baby...samantha fox (4:18) (catchy medley of the Andrea True hit along with a hint of love to love you baby. And just for good measure, there's some Full Force/Samantha Fox banter, pretty much lifted directly from her other hits. Including this track to honor Donna is a real stretch).
12. Could it be magic...eldissa (4:03) (just AWFUL. A slow, jazzy cover of a donna summer cover of a barry manilow song??? Even Barry has recorded an updated dance mix. THAT should have been on here instead to honor Donna's dance version.)
13. Last dance...status fly (4:06) (UGH. A torchy, jazzy cover by a male vocalist. The last 2 tracks on this disc nearly ruined the whole thing).
Long Overdue Tribute to Donna Summer!.......2005-09-24
I cannot believe that there hasn't been a tribute album to Ms Donna Summer before this compilation!! Thanks KOCH for thinking of her. The songs on here are Donna Summer songs that have been covered over the last two decades. They include some of the big hits and some of Summer's lesser known, but still grand songs..My personal favorites are the EG Daily cover of Sunset People, Michelle Weeks cover of Heaven Knows, Sheena Easton's Love is in Control, Laura Branigan's Dim All The Lights, Brenda Russell's Dinner with Gershwin, & Juliet Roberts' Bad Girls.....I love the dance mix of Donna's duet with the multi-talented Bruce Roberts too! The two new recordings of Could It Be Magic & Last Dance are vastly different versions of the originals, more of a slower jazzy feel. There are definitely better covers out there...check out No Doubt's cover of Love to Love You Baby from the Zoolander soundtrack, Heart's cover of The Woman In Me, No More Tears covered by Andy Bell & KD Lang from The Coneheads soundtrack, I Feel Love covered by Blue Man Group, Vanessa Mae, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blondie & quite a few others....Also note that the track listings seems to be a bit off....These are the tracks:
No More Tears (Enough is Enough) by Jocelyn Brown & Kim Mazelle
Bad Girls by Juliet Roberts
Heaven Knows by Michelle Weeks
Love is in Control by Sheena Easton
Dim All The Lights by Laura Branigan
Dinner With Gershwin by Brenda Russell
Sunset People by EG Daily
Love to Love You Baby by Tom Tom Club
I Feel Love - Soft Cell
Whenever There is Love by Bruce Roberts duet with Donna Summer
More, More, More/Love to Love You Baby medley by Samantha Fox
Could it be Magic by Eldissa (new recording)
Last Dance by Status Fly (new recording)
All in all a worthwhile compilation!!!
