Antidote: Illy B Eats Remixes, Vol. 2
Editorial Reviews
Village Voice
"...an enthralling, diverse collection of beautiful noise grooves."
Product Description
'Antidote' is a compilation of remixes produced by Billy Martin, drummer/percussionist for Medeski Martin & Wood, John Zorn, Iggy Pop and John Schofield. Featured artists include DJ P Love (Kid Koala, Medeski Martin & Wood), DJ RPM, Felnik and Pistol Pete!
'Drop the Needle', the precursor to 'Antidote,' began as an innovative experiment during which Billy Martin invited professional musicians and fans alike to put music, vocals, dubs or anything else to a breakbeat record he had released the year before called 'Groove Bang & Jive Around'. Martin then chose his favorite submissions, which became the 'Drop the Needle' compilation. Various jazz and electronic remixes were sent in during the original submission period for 'Drop the Needle'; so many, in fact, that Martin decided to make the idea into a series. This second volume will be released as a limited edition - only 1,000 CDs will be printed. The press simply loves this story - every day more people start talking about getting involved with this ongoing collaborative series!
