This soundtrack has always been very special to me. It was given to me as a gift years ago when the movie was released. Whenever, I need to escape the world and find a special place, I play this music. So smooth and gentle, it feels as if you are actually floating on the sound.

The music of pure rapture.......2000-04-26

One of the most stirring soundtracks of any film I can recall, much of this music can take the listener to a place so calm and thoughtful it seems as if time has ceased to exist. There's little conventional "melody", but instead sweeping washes of sound and chords which convey ambiguous, tender and searching emotional states. Sometimes pensive, sometimes mystical, sometimes passionate, it is truthful, complex music, whether intimate or grand. I like to play it while driving in the mountains. It has become indispensible to me!

Beautiful, Stirring and a Wonderful Infant Relaxer.......1999-07-16

When I heard this soundtrack during the movie, I was swept away with it's beauty, expansiveness and, oddly, its intimacy. It soothed me like no other instrumental body of work I had heard at the time--or since. When we had our first son in 1990, I would bathe him at night, bring him into the living room, put this on and put him on my chest. Within 5 minutes, he'd be asleep. It worked equally well for our second son. Beyond infancy, it was a calming resource on more than our fair share of family car trips. You and your family can't miss with this one.

A Great Drama Score.......1999-01-09

Michael Convertino definitely nailed it on the head with the score for the 1986 film adaptation of CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD. The score is gentle and uplifting, yet examines the underpinnings of humanity. "Rain Pool" and "Underwater Love" are cues that truly stand out in an album that conspires to bring the listener to the brink of tears. A good listen, if you're in the right frame of mind, and a worthy addition to any score collection.

I'm a HUGE Mantovani fan and have had mixed results trying to upgrade my collection to CDs. This collection is the original orchestra arrangements of all the classics. This is the one to buy.

The Mantovanti Orchestra shows off their "marvelous versatility" in this "wonderful" collection of "8 CDs", with titles that tell you "just what to expect", such as: "The Love Songs", "Memorable Classics", "Itallian Favorites", "On Broadway", etc. You can set the MOOD for practically ANY occassion! There are even some "popular" selections that we all know and treasure like: "Moon River", "Over the Rainbow" and "Autum Leaves"!
You will NOT want to remove these GREAT CDs from your CD Player, once you have listened to them! They make "nice" background music for small get-togethers or "lovely" background music for those "ROMANTIC DINNERS", for you and your "SPECIAL SOMEONE"!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SET!!! It is a GREAT DEAL for the money, even at the full price!!!

Makes me weep to think that I'll never have the chance to see these guys live...this is one of my favorite long players of, yeh, all time...with this album in one hand and Melvin's "Lysol" in the other, Boner Records beats you til you fall apart like a leper in a hailstorm.

Truly, it is hard to imagine a compact disk that stimulates the senses and arouses the brain like this one. It will bring out only the best in your stereo and in those who listen to it.

This is an excellent recording of some not-so-well-known oboe repertoire. All oboists should check this out! It may not be as exciting as hearing Mr. Izotov live, but this exceptional playing must be heard by all oboe lovers.

An Amazing New Recording.......2005-11-05

This is not the usual fair of Vivaldi, Marcello, and Telemann. Any student of the oboe will marvel at Mr. Izotov's transcendental technique tossing off many of the selections, especially the Pasculli. The allegretto sounds like two performers. Mr. Izotov's tone is sheer beauty, a solid column from the top of the instrument to the bottom. This is not just a display of technical show pieces but also a performance of elegance. I only hope this is the first recording of more to come from this extremely talented young artist

James Zabiela snapped me out of the dj doldrums with this mix. The selections have a fuzzy, techno feel with a deep, dirty funk groove. The tracks are pure inventive compared with so much of the stuff I've been hearing. Fav tracks from Disc One: Jigga-What 'Sleeping In', Timmy S 'He's in the Bar', Lanoiraude 'J.J. Scenario'. Disc Two: David Brennan 'Drink Deep', Bushwacka 'Break Your Face', PJ Davy 'Freezing Point', Dave Robertson 'Slang for Funky' - love that last track.
This review's long overdue. I read some of these negative opinions and I actually did pick up James Holden's Balance 005, a fine mix on its own, but I have to say that I like Zabiela's Sounds in Motion better.

Zabiela is incredible live and this CD can't fully capture the experience. With that being said, JZ nicely mixes in tech house, breaks and prog into an energetic mix. I especially liked the overlay of space manouvres - stage one onto the breakbeat track.

Outright Amazing.......2004-03-31

Unlike the previous reviewers, I haven't seen James Zabiela live ever. But as a semi professional dj I believe that this mix isn't trying to be a representation of a 'club' set but rather an example of just how far one can take house mixing with modern equipment. Basically Mr. Zabiela has taken house mixes to an entirely new point through the use of CDJ 1000s and a modern effect/eq mixer. My point being that if you dabble in mixing records at all I would reccomend this mix to you whole heartedly, if you dont I still would recommend this to you just not quite as highly.

Perhaps I'm a prog. house junkie and, therefore, don't share zabiela's passion for breakbeat. Perhaps almost everyone who rants and raves about this production judged it blindly just because he's outstanding playing live. Heck, perhaps even after many listens I still don't understand his intentions with this music. But as a single reviewer in the world, I can assure that this one of the most dreadful, uninspiring, and tasteless mixes I have ever heard.

Zabiela has proven that he is a rising talent to look out for, but as the above reviewer said, this mix does him no justice. I've seen him live twice; the first time he just blew me away, the second didn't do it for me (he played too much breakbeat). This mix is reminiscent of that second time I saw him: lifeless, non-flowing and senseless music that simply doesn't appeal to my taste. But then again, its my taste. Maybe a breakbeat lover will find amusement in this production, or a person influenced by the fact that he is Sasha's protegee and an occasional success at live sets.

I recall reading this CD's review on residentadvisor.com, where it scored a perfect 10/10. So I decided to download it first and check it out, to see if it was cash worthy. What a great decision!! I didn't find excitement in any part of the first disc, so I jumped to Ant's "Process Cyan", supposedly the best track the mix has to offer. When I heard it, I said to myself "if this is the best zabiela has to offer, then this means TROUBLE". robbie y, the reviewer from ra.com, what were you thinking?

In the battle of the young guns, I'm proud to say that James Holden crushed Zabiela with his "Balance 005". Be sure to check it out, and be ready to put "Sound In Motion" to rest.
