About the Artist
How did Ernie Lake, the Grammy Nominated producer/remixer/songwriter get started? After contributing keyboards, drum programming and engineering on several number one records for some of the music industry's biggest remixers, Ernie felt it was time to take matters into his own hands. Instead of simply lending his talents to other people, he wanted to establish his own creative partnership writing, performing, producing, and remixing his own music. In early 1993, he formed the song writing and production team known as Soul Solution as a way to realize his creative vision.

Ernie began his professional career at 17 touring the world in various bands. He first came to the attention of the dance music community with his first release as Soul Solution, the 1993 house gem, "Love, Peace, and Happiness"(FFRR/London). With its uplifting piano riffs and timeless lyrics, "Love..." became an instant club favorite and was a featured track on the 1994 Platinum On Black (FFRR/London) compilation.

Ernie Lake's polished song writing and production skills have impressed many in the industry. "I'm not interested in just putting out tracks," Ernie declares. "My focus is on the whole production, from the song idea to the finished mix."

In 2000, Ernie Received his second Grammy Nomination for Remixer of the Year. The nomination came as a result of the work done on the following tracks: The Backstreet Boys "All I Have to Give," Faith Evans "All Night Long," Cyndi Lauper "Disco Inferno," Jordan Knight "I Can Never Take The Place of Your Man," Blondie "Maria," and Britney Spears "Sometimes." 1999's nomination (Best Dance Recording) was for his production on Cyndi Lauper's remake of the disco classic "Disco Inferno" from the Night At The Roxbury soundtrack on Dreamworks.

Ernie's signature Rhythm Radio Friendly Records have received accolades from both radio programmers and the underground community. That recognition sparked a string of remix requests from Pink, Shania Twain, Toni Braxton, Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, and Usher. Working out of Ernie Lake Productions, his own recording facility in New York, Ernie has also lent his writing and production skills to movie soundtracks, such as Superstar, Stuart Little and Southpark. He has also launched his own compilation-based record label, E.L. Records, which has produced CD's for boutique hotel 60 Thompson, trendy restaurant Tao, and most recently Playboy. The label has released the very first Hamptons compilation, "From the Hamptons to Ibiza," written and produced by Ernie himself, and the followup album, entitled "Isola D'Amore." Ernie also has his own radio show on Sirius Radio entitled "Ernie Lake's Chill-Out Show."

Currently, Ernie is writing and producing for his label and various major artists. His main goals are to sign new acts to his compilation label to build a notable roster of talented musicians and continue on with writing and producing his own music.
