A megahit with young country fans, Kenny Chesney may seem like an accidental star, but he's succeeded largely by understanding what his following wants to hear. No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems taps directly into the squiggly vein that runs between adolescence and adulthood, when responsibilities call and Jimmy Buffett dreams beckon. As much a celebration of life as of youth itself, the album succeeds best when Chesney turns wistful and thought-provoking ("A Lot of Things Different," "Good Stuff") and makes firm decisions about what really matters in life. Sentimentality reigns supreme--you can already imagine a sea of flickering cigarette lighters when he does this material live--but as "Big Star," a song about a girl who wants to be just that, spells out, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems is a solid affirmation to go for what you want in this silly ol' world. Chesney certainly has, and if this short, bald guy from tinytown, Tennessee, can catch a rainbow, the rest of us ought to take heart. --Alanna Nash

Great Album.......2007-06-08
Already had this album from Oz, but was scratched. Love the album and wish I could see kenny live.
A Great Collection of Memories, Dreams, and Thoughts.......2007-01-28
Here is another wonderful release from the boy from Tennessee which offers more of his heartfelt melodies and stories of deep thoughts. As with his earlier albums, this one contains Kenny's clear and sincere vocals and a contemporary, yet unmistakably country taste to these songs. In contrast to his earlier albums, this one explores a new territory, the tropical island sound and/or lyrics in some of the selections here. All of the tracks consist of lyrics that many people can relate to on a personal basis because they have experienced or are experiencing these same thoughts or feelings.
The album starts out with the hit song "Young", a mid-tempo, neo country track that reflects on one's youth, with the activities, attitudes, behavior, and relationships that marked those days. This is sung from an adult point of view, on how he notes how fast the time has gone by, and how he wished he was older (when he was a kid), but now wishes those days weren't over (now that he's grown). The next track, a soft, low key, moderately paced "I Remember" tells of the guy thinking about a girl he used to have a relationship with, but he wants to forget about her. "A Lot Of Things Different" is soft and mild, and another hit song; it deals with past regrets, mostly about things he should have done but didn't, and he would do things differently if he had the chance to. Note that he speaks about the mistakes in a talking voice and sings the rest of the line. Next is the hit song "The Good Stuff", a story of a guy who had a fight with his wife so he goes to the bar, and ends up listening to the bartender telling about his late wife, and the grandkids, and the good times he had; so he has a change of heart. The hit "Big Star" is a high-energy, moderately fast-paced story song about a female who dreams of being a musical superstar, and experiences the life of a celebrity.
Next is "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful", a soft piece in which the guy thinks about a girl, imagining that she is on the beautiful beach, and he wishes he could be there with her. "Never Gonna Feel That Way Again" is moderately fast-paced, and discusses the past phases of his life: childhood, the teenage years, and as a father playing ball with his young son; and how he will never return to those times again. Then come "Dreams", a soft, slow song with acoustic piano in the background, in which a woman dreams of having a man in her life (again) and that he will stay with her. The title track "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" is a popular hit song with a tropical style; marked by light-hearted rhythms, strumming guitars, violin, sliding steel guitar, and xylophone. It tells of a busy guy who would like to visit the island where the rules are relaxed and the mood is a laid-back one, and the setting is like a tropical vacation.
Kenny wanders into the rock 'n' roll sound with "Live Those Songs" with a rock guitar strumming in the background of high energy. This is the story of a working guy who wishes he could return to the early 70s and the beach, girls, and music of those times. "One Step Up" is the remake of the Bruce Springsteen hit, a fairly gentle piece about dealing with the frustrations of having setbacks while working toward goals. The final track "I Can't Go There" is a soft and slow ballad, with an acoustic piano in the background. This is a story of a guy who can't visit any places because they all remind him of a girl he used to go out with; almost as if her memory follows him wherever he goes.
Overall, these dozen tracks provide some variety in Kenny's style of performing and singing. This album helped bump up his thriving musical career and push him into superstardom. Although the five hits from this package are great, the listener must hear all twelve tracks to appreciate the versatility contained here. This album deserves 5 and 1/2 stars on a scale of 1 to 5; or 11 stars on a scale of 1 to 10.
No Shoes is a great album.......2006-11-10
No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems is a great album. Along with the title song this album includes Kenny's hits The Good Stuff and Young. The bonus track, I Can't Go There is my favorite song on the album. I never listen to that song just once. I always rewind it and listen to it again and again. This album is a must for true Kenny fans.
This one is GRRREAT!! Some of his best work yet!!.......2006-11-04

About Time!.......2007-06-04
T Shirt is new to me but I started this search a few years ago looking for FINAL EXAM and was so frustrated Loudon's earlier work was NOT released to CD yet.
Final Exam is everything you'd come to expect from an original songwriter with keen insight, a sense or irony, talent and the ability to laugh at himself and take those very faults and exploit them for all they're worth.
I hope he made a few bucks on this album and I hope he makes even more with this rerelease.
Although it didn't get me sober, it such as heck helped both before and after.
Yeah, his kids are talented but check out the original gene pool and take a dip - it's quite refreshing.
I rarely 5 star anything but out of gratitude this one deserves it - I was ready to buy the album, get the software and replace the needle on my turntable for this one. My original copy is DOGGED to death.
I hope I like T Shirt half as much as I like Final Exam - at any price, it's a steal of a deal.
Some Of Loudon Wainwright's Best Work Ever !.......2007-06-03
Finally on CD in a nicely packaged 2 CD set. If you know Loudon from his 'Dead Skunk' or maybe his more current work you need to buy this. If you owned these on vinyl you need to buy this. If you never heard anything from LW III you should start here. I was unaware of the critical bashing that T Shirt took back in 1976. I bought it back then and I loved it, so who knew. Anyway he is in great form, his band and guests are in great form. Wonderful, wonderful stuff ! (not many artists can rhyme nembutal and alcohol and make it seem natural, LOL).

Thematically, director Robert Altman's career sometimes seems an endless series of left turns into the unexpected; the one constant has been a rich and rewarding attention to the intricacies of character development and interaction. Composer Patrick Doyle underscores Gosford Park's Merchant-Ivory/Agatha Christie/Altman-wit fusion and '30s British upper-class setting with a score that's period spot-on, character-rich, and often sadly evocative. Doyle's restraint is masterful, often leaning on piano, accordion, and small string arrangements that emphasize the characters' intimacies and the film's drawing room settings. Key to the story are a handful of prewar songs by Ivor Novello (who's also a character in the film), ranging from the sprightly humor of "And Her Mother Came Too" and "What a Duke Should Be" to the romantic schmaltz of "I Can Give You the Starlight" and "Why Isn't It You?" The latter is performed here at the piano (and, remarkably, live before the cameras) by Jeremy Northam. Leavened by a small jazz ensemble and a few darkly ominous cues, Doyle's score is an understated gem. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Gosford Park Sound Track.......2007-03-30
The original music is creative and very listenable. It is typical of popular music of the 1930s. This CD is highly recommended to those people who enjoy music from the 1920s and 1930s.
Better than the movie.......2004-12-08
Many people, I believe, buy a soundtrack because they are mesmerized by the movie and want to extend the experience by listening to something that reminds them of it. But "Gosford Park" is hardly that kind of movie. It is brilliant and atmospheric as it analyzes the British class system, but that's hardly the kind of thing that wins the heart. The soundtrack of this movie was my favorite CD from last year, and the reasons I liked it had nothing to do with the movie.
Why is this music so compelling and winning?
First, it is fun to discover the marvellous talent of Ivor Norvello. His music is half of the charm of the soundtrack. Some songs are funny ("Her mother came too"), some beautiful ("I can give you the starlight") and some poignant ("The land of might have been"). I had not encountered Norvello before this film. Jeremy Northam's perfect delivery of Norvello's songs would not leave me after I'd seen the film. Days later, I found the songs had taken up residence in the back of my head, insisting that I go back to the soundtrack to make them a permanent part of my musical life.
Second, there is the charm of the orchestral music composed by Patrick Doyle. Sometimes people wonder "why aren't they writing beautiful classical music any more?" Well, they are. It goes into soundtracks, however, rather than being commissioned by orchestras. The test for the quality of Doyle's compositions is that you don't need to refer to the film to appreciate this music. It simply charms and intrigues us with its own merits.
My third reason for loving this CD is too personal to mention here.
I give this CD my highest personal recommendation.
I don't mind the repeating themes, but the CD is too short!.......2004-06-08
Unlike many reviewers here, I didn't buy the CD to hear the Ivor Novello songs or Jeremy Northam's voice. I actually liked the instrumental tracks, and never actually thought I'd like to listen to something played on an accordion.
However, Mr. Doyle's music portrays the lethargy of the snobby Upstairs very well to the contrast of the relative energy of Novello's songs, which the Downstairs servants enjoy, but the Upstairs people can't stand.
My dislikes about the CD include the female singer who can't really sing and the length of the CD. Some of these cues are only about a minute long. WHY pay so much money for such a short CD??? Why not add more music??
Overall though, if you liked either Doyle's music or Novello's songs (hopefully the listener will like both), it's a CD worth getting.
Excellent Mix.......2003-04-23
I fell in love with this soundtrack when I watched Gosford Park in the cinemas.
Sometimes period music, sometimes mystery music, sometime personal music. Jeremy Northam's songs are simply delicious and I love hearing them.
I liken the style (not type) of mix to You've Got Mail.
Heaps of fun and lovely to listen to.
One the best soundtracks out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-03-06
When I saw the movie at the theater I kept thinking I've got to have the soundtrack to this movie because it is so beautiful. I also really enjoyed the sung songs 6.And Her Mother Came Too, 10.I Can Give You The Starlight, 11.What A Duke Should Be, 16. Only For A While, 20. The Way It's Meant To Be, 24. The Land That Might-Have-Been!! I think that Patrick Doyle did a wonderful job of scoring this movie the just fits right in with it all, I only wish there was more to listen to!! I highly recommend this album to everyone who liked the movie and people who love great soundtracks, you will not be sorry if you buy this!!!!

Frusciante's first album is amazing.......2007-03-24
If you're a fan of John's, I think this is a must have. But because it takes a few listens to really get used to the odd style, I would say that this definitely shouldn't be your first Frusciante CD. The sound doesn't appeal to everyone and even if you like his other stuff, you might not like this. I personally love it, but it took a little bit of time for me to get into it. So don't give up on it if you've only listened to it once. I'm sure most of you will end up liking it.
Genius at work.......2006-08-05
In spite of some other reviews saying that this record was made "on heroin" it is mainly recorded during the BSSM sessions. Okay he was not clean, smokin'pot, but not on the heavy needle stuff.
The record to me is a record that i have been playing for the last ten years and I never get bored with it.
I like the reversed songs, the acoustic guitars drained with some distorded sounds.
If you hear closely you actually can hear the Peppers in it's rudimentic stage. This reveals that John is the creative talent in the band. Not that I rate Hillel Slovak's work lower than John, it is just a matter of sounds.
"As can be" kicks in and grabs you by the nutts, "Curtains" is John doing Joe Jackson's "Real Men" and sounds beautiful. My perosnal favourite is "Blood on my neck from Succes".
I hope John will go on forever.
Different.......2006-07-24
This album is as far from RHCP as you could ever get. I first bought this years ago expecting to hear John singing songs like 'Tiny Dancer' and 'Castles made of sand' which were Johns favourites around the time of his demise with the chili peppers. But what I found was so completely different it took me a few listens to get this album.
To hear a man so isolated from the world and so consumed by his addiction is upsetting, and scary to think that this could have been how we remembered John. But this album will certainly move you, and you can certainly feel his loneliness. The guitar playing is still brilliant, the words are painful and the production is poor. (I believe it was recorded on a 4 track recorder in Johns bedroom).
This album you will either love it or hate it. But once you get it, and understand it you will love it.
To all John fans - get this album!!!
To all RHCP fans - give it a try!!!
To everyone else - best leave this one alone.
A good record, but not his best........2006-06-10
Many people say that Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-shirt is John Frusciante's best work, but I would have to give that award to either To Record Only Water for Ten Days or Shadows Collide With People. That said, Niandra LaDes is still a superb piece of work. It is a raw, emotional, and ultimately very weird journey through the life of a man. Highlight tracks include: As Can Be, My Smile is a Rifle, Head (Beach Arab), Curtains, Mascara, Untitled #3, and Untitled #5. If you like weird and raw music, then maybe Niandra LaDes is for you. I personally think this record is a bit overrated, but still good. Definitely a worthy purchase.
Niandra Lades and Usually Just Overrated.......2006-04-27
First of I am not a john frusciante fan.
This cd in what i read is john frusciante best cd up to date...maybe its that im not into red hot or john f but this sounds to forced.I think john is aiming to bad for the eccentric madman genius label that his heroes have(Syd Barret,Capatain Beefeheart).
Yeah there was some moments in here that did something but other than that this is for serious hardcore everything john/red hot fans.I Got this expecting to hear more songs in the style of those seen in his heroin isolation period footage.....Hearing him drugged out of his mind screaming and doing noises like that would of made it a better album

Now a veteran of the New England singer-songwriter scene, Catie Curtis offers her most musically seductive album in 2001, but that's not necessarily good news. Backed by longtime friends Jimmy Ryan (formerly of the Blood Oranges and one of the most tasteful, compelling players in folk rock), bassist Andrew Mazzone, and young guitar-slinger Duke Levine, Curtis pushes further towards the danceable folk-pop of Shawn Colvin and Sheryl Crow, and pulls back from the close-to-the-bone songwriting that was once her signature. With the exception of the Southern working-class portrait "Sugar Cane" (co-written with Mary Gauthier) and closer "The Big Reprise" (a prickly meditation on divine injustice), Curtis mostly slips into the girl-meets-girl sentimentality of the title track, the adult contemporary clichés of opener "Run," or the haphazard coffeehouse diary of "Patience." The latter is a virtue these songs reveal too rarely. --Roy Kasten
Customer Reviews:
Pleasant arrangements.......2005-02-20
I had not heard this artist before, but I bought this after listening to some samples. What strikes me about Catie is that her voice sounds almost identical to that of Edie Brickell. Many of the arrangements on "My Shirt Looks Good On You" are similar to "Ghost of a Dog" by Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. The material is not quite on the same level as "Ghost", however. A few songs are quite nice (including the opening piece "Run"). Most of the rest of the first half are somewhat sophomoric and banal (especially the title track "My Shirt Looks Good On You", which is almost embarrassing) but pleasant enough. The album picks up steam again, though, about track 9, "Elizabeth", and finishes strong.
Recommended, with reservations
This one grows on you . . ........2003-01-22
This CD was obviously a victim of bad timing (it was released in September 2001) because it has not gotten the play it deserves. The first spin through this CD left me wondering whether I would completely "connect" with the songs and then I left it in my CD changer for about a week on random play and I found myself enjoying every song more and more, the more times I heard it. You will not be disappointed by this CD. Rumor has it that she also has an all-accoustic CD available only on her website.
A Pleasant Surprise.......2003-01-02
I was sampling CDs when I gave this one a try. I bought it and have been thrilled with my purchase. I am really surprised there are some extremely negative reviews here. She is fresh and original which is hard to come by.
A great CD.......2002-08-10
I had never heard of Catie Curtis before reading a magazine article about her, and I admit buying this partly because I think she's so cute. But she has a great voice too--lightly romantic but not saccharine.
Great CD!.......2002-02-28
Catie Curtis is a wonderfully talented vocalist, songwriter and musician. Her songs speak from the heart, with wonderfully poignant lyrics and beautiful melodies. I loved every song on this album!

My Favorite Christian Album.......2005-01-24
I don't listen to a lot of Christian music, but I heard these guys live in Colorado last year and ended up buying this album. Their music is very simple, but it just works. "Ocean" is probably one of my favorite songs, and "Peace with You" is wonderful. I recommend it for anyone who loves Christian music, and anyone who doesn't like Christian music. Well done.
Ten Shekel Shirt is an awesome band!!!.......2004-03-29
Today,I saw this group in concert at a youth conference called Fire Up and it was one of the best I have ever been to. They sang many of the songs from the cd and played it while setting up. The music was wonderful. They are using their talents for God's purpose and making a difference in the world. Awesome songs, great sound, wonderful talent, all given by one almighty God.
Highly recommended!.......2003-06-12
I love this CD! Ten Shekel Shirt have a really great sound and their song lyrics are beautiful. I think the best music comes from artists who love God, and you can tell this band love Him. I look forward to the release of their new album.
Worshipful........2002-09-29
A tremendous CD full of worship! This is a great buy. I wish I'd bought it long ago.
There's a powerful desire for worship that pours out of every song on this CD. I can't remember the last time I bought a CD and loved every song on it. I bought it knowing two tracks and found myself listening over and over to the entire CD.
The songs are pretty mellow and easy to understand. It's not too fast, and it's not too loud. If you like music at all and love to worship the King of Kings, you'll enjoy MUCH.
Ten Shekel Shirt.......2002-06-20
Interestingly enough my heavy rock fan dad burned this cd for me from his own collection. I am very pleased with the lyrics and all of the music. Rarely do I have a cd that I like all of the songs. I especially enjoy Healer, House Of Memories, Come Away, and Ocean. This cd has helped me with a new relationship with Christ and I reccomend this cd to everyone out there and I hope people enjoy it as much as I do.

Best Waylon and Willie album.......2004-10-25
Waylon and Willie recorded several albums together, but some of them were made up of a mix of duets with solo tracks by one but not the other for contractual reasons. They did one for Waylon's label that included a mix of duets and Waylon solos (WWII) followed by one for Willie's label (Take it to the limit) that included different duets and some Willie solos.
On this album, they were both on the same label so they share equal billing, as it should be. Furthermore, they were both going out of fashion with country radio so they could record what they wanted, not being expected to produce hit singles. Free of contractual obligations and other pressures, Waylon and Willie recorded what I consider to be their best ever album together - even better than the first one they did back in the seventies.
The album is built around the concept of looking back on the past. In the opening track, they debate whether to head over the Mexican border and have a good time as they used to when they were young. The song titles of some of the other songs - I could write a book about you, Old age and treachery, Two old sidewinders, The good old nights, Put me on a train back to Texas - give you a clear idea of what this music is about.
Of the albums they did together, this is my favorite. Of course, they also worked on other projects together, including three albums as members, with Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, of the Highwaymen. There was also the original Outlaws album, featuring Jessi Colter and Tompall Glaser.
If you enjoy any of their other music together, you really ought to listen to this Waylon and Willie album. It is frequently overlooked but deserved to be much more successful than it actually was.

Take a risk on Risk!.......2005-02-05
Though "Risk" has managed to slip under the radar, it is one of the best Christian CDs to come out in the last five years. One of the criticisms often voiced about Christian artists is their lack of musicianship. This is not the case with this band. Musically excellent and lyrically relevant, with "Risk" Ten Shekel Shirt steps out of the pack of current praise bands and takes a real risk - a risk that pays off magnificently. As impressed as I am by the music on "Risk" the lyrics impress me even more. From the passion of the first track (It all began with a risk...) to the real encouragement of the very catchy "Cheer Up" to the great rocker "This Story" to "Over the Room" (with the great lyric, "The Christ in me will rise to greet your cheek...") to the great comments about our faith walk in "Today" (In a moment I am changed, over time I am changing..), Lamont Hiebert's lyrics are deep and theologically sound. Oh, and, his voice ain't bad, either! The only complaint I have about this CD is its length - it's too short and I want more great music like this! But if you're looking for something deeper than the pop you hear on Christian radio (which seems to want to wrap up Christianity in a nice red bow and ignore all the realities of our world and our faith to the point of irrelevancy), please check out "Risk" - you won't be sorry!
Tremdendous, well-crafted, throughtful and spiritual!.......2003-11-13
I read a glowing review of this new CD from Ten Shekel Shirt that made me take a chance and buy it without listening to it first. I am very glad I did. This album has been compared to Coldplay by some, and I might say it sounds like Coldplay meets Counting Crows, BUT without being derivative. (Translation: they are not just some Christian band trying to mimic a popular band's sound - they have their own style).
Risk mixes more rocking tunes like "Risk" and "This Story" ("I'm haunted by the hope of something more. I haven't been here very long. Easily I could get this story all wrong..." with more thoughtful, melodic tunes like "Cheer Up" and "February" (the latter a haunting tribute to the day the lead vocalist and songwriter lost his mother and brother in a car accident).
Risk has both depth and power to it. I put it in my car CD player last week, and it is still there! If you like bands that have their own sound, are original, and take their craft seriously, then I highly recommend this CD to you. One can hope that the Christian music industry encourages and promotes more bands of this kind of quality (and like Jars of Clay & Caedmon's Call). These bands seem to take seriously, "Whether you eat or drink or whatsoever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31) and "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy" (Ps. 33:3). Can't wait to hear their next CD!
A good rock album from a great bunch of guys.......2003-10-30
Ten Shekel Shirt is cool. A great bunch of guys with a sincere passion for God and serving Him. They've been promoting IJM (www.ijm.org) lately, which is awesome.
I must warn you--Risk is not a worship album. They will be releasing a worship album in the next few months to benefit IJM's work.
I still highly recommend this album. It shows progression in the band's creativity. There's a noticeable brit-rock influence ala coldplay and travis (which in my opinion, is a very good thing). :)

One shirt, on my back, but life goes on........2007-01-10
I have never been able to find Foundation albums anywhere but here. I love Foundation. One of the better reggae bands in the 80-90's. Original Beverly Hills track is great. Not the album that I wanted, Flames, but still up there in its its greatness.
Foundation goes to the Czech Republic.......2006-11-12
Excellent music. I had this album many years ago along with Foundation's "Flames" Album, and then somehow they disappeared, then I found them again here on Amazon and also on Ebay. And now they are being heard in Olomouc, Czech republic, the land where Reggae is taken very seriously as much as freedom from Communism. It is so great to see mothers with children dancing to this music here in Olomouc and to see pregnant mothers playing this for their babies that are waiting to be born. I put this music way above Bob Marley's Legend Album. Plus the lyrics are so good and easy to understand for people that are still learning English. As a conversational English teacher in Olomouc, CZR- I use music as a way of helping people learn more about rich heritage music such as Reggae. I also found that my Gymnazium (high school) students can study very well when I play this during study time. They actually asked for this cd by name. Anyone looking for some music that will keep your heart, soul and feet tapping to wonderful tunes and spirit music, THIS album is for you. Foundation moves the Czech Republic!!!!-redravencafe
boom/MUST HAVE.......2001-11-16
Foundation,Let me say first condolences to families, friends and fans, for the lost of a member of the band"IPAL" a brother and a friend, peace be with you.Foundation one of the hardest working reggae group in the field right now.To give a full review on the works of the foundation ,its more than tongue can tell, for me the lyrics awesome, brilliant song writers, melody tight, vocal high ,and the muzik great, with sly dunbar robbie shakespere and the legendary jack ruby producer, of burning spear's marcus garvey its all good. Every one who's looking for real roots muzik should have all three(3)albums'FLAMES'produced by jack ruby'HEART FEEL IT'another ruby's production and'ONE SHIRT'produced by Foundation plus many more unrelesed tracks to come. GIVE THANKS ONE LOVE.
Foundation picks up where Bob Marley left off........1999-03-06
If you enjoy smooth, melodic reggae, a la Marley's "Waiting in Vain" or Lucky Dube's "Prisoner," this CD is for you. "One Shirt" brims over with catchy hooks, heady lyrics, and richly textured brass and percussion -- all packaged together with polished production. I listen to it more than any other CD in my collection, including "Legend."
a stylistic return to roots reggae.......1998-11-04
tight instrumentation, wailing vocals, strong lyrics and driving bass...the best new sound to emerge from jamaica in the past ten years
