It just keeps growing on you..........2000-06-23
I've been a fan of Mark Farina's spinning for a while now. When I got this disk, it sounded oddly disjointed to me at first -- he tweaks the EQ in all sorts of unexpected places.
As I listened to it a few more times, I began to realize that the disjunctures I was hearing had nothing to do with the transitions between songs. Instead, he was breaking up the songs' own internal continuity so that his blends of records took on their own full personality; the parts of the record that sound smooth are, in fact, the mixes.
The mix between "Glasgow Jazz" and "C'mon Clap Your Hands" goes on for upwards of two minutes, and "Glasgow" only plays by itself for about eight seconds. Right at the end of the mix, he drops the bottom out almost completely, and comes out into a bridge in "Clap Your Hands." The first eight or ten times I heard the CD, I thought I was listening to one track, with a kind of weak, EQ-tweaking mix into the next track. When I finally sorted it all out, I realized I'd been had. It's one of the best transitions I've ever heard -- and I've heard a lot. Anyone who wants to steal some house technique should buy this CD for that mix alone.
And that's one of about ten mixes on the CD that will drop your jaw to the floor -- once you've actually listened to it enough times to realize the magic act that Farina is putting on. You'll just shake your head and say "Huh?" until then.
One down side: most songs on the CD play for only a few minutes, and most of the time they're being mixed with other records. The one record that he really lets go (to the tune of about 12 minutes) is record 12, which in my opinion is the weakest of the bunch, and could have stood to be about 6 minutes shorter.
But it's not enough to detract from an amazing virtuosic show on this disc.
Mix of the millenium ?.......1999-12-19
A superb fusion of deep disco house flawlessly mixed by Mark Farina, the cohesion and continuity of not only the mix, but track selection is wonderful. Definately a CD to add to the collection to define the genre.
funky frisco disco with mark farina.......1999-01-06
this cd is perfect for disco, deep house listeners. check out "clap your hands" and "glasgow's jazz" for great basslines that really energize. Also, he knows how to use the vairous EQ dials that bring new dimensions to the tracks. Last, his beatmatching skills are impeccable. I saw Farina in SF @ 1014 Fulsom and he spun on three tables. -Dj NuYorkan Seoul
Subterranean House at its Best.......1998-12-16
Farina proves he can mix with the best of them, with this solid CD. Many underground beats and funky samples are flawlessy blended in this CD, a must for any true House fan. Favorite tracks: 6, 7, 10, and 12.
Trademark house set from one of the USA's finest DJ's.......1998-10-22
If you like house, you've definitely heard this disc. If you don't know what house is, this is the one disc you should hear. Farina starts off this set with three ass-shakin' deep house tracks: "Flame," "Dreams of You" and "I Know" and then eases his way into a funky and groovy house set starting with "Feel your Body Talkin'." Personally, I like the first 15-20 minutes of this album the most, especially "I Know," which is an underground classic. Yet, the rest of the album is very good and would pack any dancefloor from Chicago to San Fran to Atlanta.

Old school for your mind.......2005-07-13
A set like this you may never hear again. This "under the radar" superstar pioneered the way for the progressive trance sound. He has played alongside the greatest DJ's such as Digweed and Sasha back in the day where they defined developing genres. This CD shows the roots of today's Trance and Progressive scenes. If you want to hear something totally different, this is the CD to get.
where's the sasha remix?.......2000-04-22
nice cd....i bought it initially for the last track...listed as HYSTERIX "TALK TO ME" (sasha's full on master mix", which is THE sickest song...BUT, the last track isn't this song...does anyone else have this problem? does anyone know where this cd with the tracks listed is?
Red Alert!.......2000-02-20
Kimball Collins is one of the best trance DJs there is. I was lucky enough to be at Red Alert, an Indianapolis party, on his birthday. In celebration, we turned the volume WAY up. Red Alert got shut down because of it, but it was worth it.
A must-have album produced by one of Florida's top DJ's.......1999-03-09
Kimball Collins, an old-skool Florida DJ, is incredible in this first of many types within this collection. I had the opportunity to hear KC spin at a party...one of greatest old-skool sets i've heard in a long time. this CD is a result of classic, intricate mixing with amazing, class-A style.
Starting out with a long, slow intro (Union Jack)--he progressively mixes in classics vocals from the movie "DUNE" and ending with a fantastic Sasha remix. this is one incredible album that you don't want to miss out on...one CD that you will really appreciate. those of you who enjoy paul oakenfold, john digweed, alexander "sasha" coe, and christopher lawrence...get this album!

Def Mixers together again.......2004-10-29
Frankie and David have a good sound when they produce a record together; it's only natural that they should have a double cd set that sounds phat too. Frankie's mix is my favorite of the two, but the entire set is phat. Once you get this set you may not put it down.
By the way, don't pay any attention to the date (1995). Some mixes never get old!

One of My All Time Best CDs.......2005-09-22
When I bought this CD a few years ago, I drove from Washington, DC to Atlanta and I listened to it for 11 hours straight. To this day, I pull it out and inject it into the rotation, and I fall in love all over again. The CD is pure groovy, low key house music - I can't explain it much more than that - the CD is a state of mind, man! It got scratched because I played it so much, and I bought another new copy. With one listen I got a few of my friends hooked on Alvarado as well.
Smooth Ambient Beats.......2004-03-12
David Alvarado is the perfect artist to put on at a hip, fancy restaurant, while at home in a dimly lit room relaxing, soaking in a hot bath or whenever you need to relax to upbeat and interesting sounds that don't overwhelm the senses.
5 stars, I couldn't live without it.
Alvarado Believer.......2002-12-22
As a fine purveyor of deep house for the last 3 years, I can attest to few better mixes than this. Alvarado has a keen ear for music that is not just groovy but also soulfull. For an example, listen closely to the last track. if the opening beats of "The Season" don't take you to that special place good music can, then I am sorry for you. My only complaint is that Mr. Alvarado does not release more music for his fans to listen and love. peace in the middle east
Unbelievable.......2002-03-21
I love this album. Listen to it weekly.
Always takes me to my happy place.
Deep and Smooth.......2001-03-09
For those that like their house music bumping and soulful, this artist is the man to check out. This album is a great sample of deep and rhythmic housemusic. Devoid of the agressive style of techno-house or hardhouse, this album is mello but makes you want to shake you butt just the same. If you like the base in your music then you'll be satisfied with this. The latin influence is evident in this album also. The overall vibe of this CD is "sexy." If you're going to a house party with your girl or guy, throw this in the CD player on the way there and this will get you in the mood to dance....... maybe even something more......

the only josh wink I've found that I truly enjoy.......2003-06-04
Josh Wink is one of those dj's that I always had such high hopes for. like one day he would come out with the electronic album/mix that would be the Sergeant Pepper's of electronica--he had the catchiest darn grooves and a certain minimalist je ne sais quoi--but it always seemed like his ego got in front of his musicianship--I'm sure such songs as "don't laugh" got him many groupies/people telling him he was god--but every album of just his stuff that comes out is [bad] (in my humble opinion)--sure he has those great moments, but somehow the album makes those great moments into gross mistakes--that being said, this album is great because its the only one he made where his ego didn't capsize the whole ship--its the closest thing to the essential Josh Wink album that ever came out--its a good album and pretty much an icon of the Winkian universe--its just too darn bad he never lived up to the hype
Minimal Thoughts.......1999-01-06
Wink offers a good stepping stone into the world of minimalism. He does spin some great tracks like "Losing Control" and his own "How's the music." Listen carefully to how he brings samples from previous tracks. Good journey :) "Into Space." - Dj NuYorikan Seoul
a classic........1998-08-26
one of the best examples of a narrative spun through a DJ's hands. this is an excellent collection of (mostly) minimalist tracks with a bit of a bent toward the thematically cosmic. this has been a staple in my collection for two years now, and i'm STILL not sick of it.
It grows on you.......1998-07-28
At first I was disapointed in this album. Compared to what I've heard Josh Wink mix in the past, this album seems pretty tame. But if you are patient with him, he does delivers by the end. I like this album more and more as I listen to it. The last four songs redeem a kind-of-slow start.

Just wanted to write a review to pay homage to this CD........2005-06-29
One of the most amazing mixes that's ever graced my CD collection. Gave me a buzz everytime I listened to it. Yes, I was there when he opened for Crystal Method. You could overhear people spontaneously saying, "wow, he's a good dj". It was quite a vibe, and one I'll never forget. This mix essentially captures that moment for me, and the essence of his set back in the day. He's now moved on to a more progressive sound on his last release Synesthesia, and I can only imagine what he's spinning now. I wish he would release another CD though.
A defining album of Progressive Trance!.......2000-02-11
Progressive Trance has become the staple of underground techno for the last couple of years and Taylor, LA's #1 DJ, has created a basic dietary supplement to the serious collector of Progressive Trance. In the tradition of Chris Lawrence, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and John Digweed (who all use tracks created by Taylor), here is what the other DJ's listen to when they're sportin' around in their rides. Features Union Jack and Taylor's "Slide" (which can be found on Chris Lawrence presents Hook Recordings). I have worn this one out, yet am constantly returning to it time and again...
THE #1 TRANCE DJ IN AMERICA.......1999-12-26
As a friend and long time fan of Taylor's, I must admit some bias but this cd truly represents his style and delivers something different from the rest of the trance discs on the market. Other people have dismissed it as repetitive but it really has more change-ups and diversity than over 70% of the dance cds available. If you are an American trance fan, this cd is a must. It features just about every style of trance; Breaks, progressive, hard, epic, and a bit of Goa. If you like the United DJs series, you'll need this one too. Taylor is an original and you should never miss a chance to experience him live.
this is why he is my favorite dj.......1999-11-25
My best bud saw taylor with the crystal method and told me he was the only dj he would pay good money to see again. He told me I had to buy this cd,and i havent heard a better one since. His songs are very original (its not like you would ever here energy 52 on it!) The builds are long, but when they break they just leave you thinking "hell yeah!". Paul Oakenfold is good, but honestly, half of the songs on Tranceport can be found on like, ten other cds i own. Although I will rate Taylor as high as Sasha,John Digweed, and Kimball Collins ( a legend in his own right)i have had it stolen twice, and i don't mind dishing a little extra money to get, just so that i have it. It is by far the best cd i have ever heard. The last song "the Other Side" is by far the most beautiful song i have heard. It truly defines epic trance. And I can't get enough of "Get Down To My Technique" I am proud to say that Taylor is my Favorite Dj. When he came to houston i was fortunate enough to get to watch his whole set on stage with him and hang out with him. His set is a model of what a great set should be. If he ever comes to your city, don't miss him! you wont be disappointed by this cd or him live!
WEAK!.......1999-11-06
All of these guys are saying that "This is the best trance cd ever," it really is not. If you want good proggresive trance, lissen to Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Okenfold, Christopher Lawerence or Paul Van Dyke, The list goes on and on. This cd is not mixed well and only has two good tracks, Taylor's "Slide" and The Light's "Expand the Room." Trust me, if you REALLY like trance, don't buy this c.d.

It will stand the test of time..........2005-09-07
Because I have been trying to re-get ahold of this CD for some time now, after losing it years ago. It's on it's way to my house now, but after listening to the provided clips, it reminds me why it has been on my mind for so long. (Tracks?), parts of the CD so meaningfully static it was like this CD was made to wash away everything else your listening to and replace. A purposeful effort, it takes years of music knowledge and slices it up, and serves it to listeners. And it is a unique knowledge...
A classic..."Feel It".......2004-05-17
This is one of the best house mix CD's ever put out that will easily stand the test of time. Each song seamlessly flows into the next as Doc Martin effortlessly take the listener on a journey through ones mind. He's a wizard at slowly building the pace from one record to the next until the set peaks w/ a musical frenzy which moves through your body & into your soul; one is left feeling as if they've just had a spiritual revelation of some sort.
This is from around the time period (95,96,97) showcasing him at his best, and this CD comes pretty darn close to catching him live at Fever in Baltimore around then. Go out & buy this CD, shut everything off, turn up the volume, and prepare yourself to be taken on a trip.

OFF DA HOOK!!!!.......2004-03-27
This is exactly what I was looking for and more! as soon as I saw Tony's name I knew it would be off da hook (as my kids would say) and it was! Wow this really brought back some memories. I had the music pumping and folks prob thought I had turned the place into NYC Club Shelter. This is a great pick for those of us who love club/house music. DJ's like Tony and Larry Levan are classic in creating NYC nightlife and this CD brought back some classic memories. You will definately enjoy!
A must have if you are a house lover.......2003-12-31
Tony is the man. If you are looking got something soulful get this. Its getting harder these days to get real house music but this album keeps it real. This CD stand out as one that keeps the tradition alive.
Love that East Coast House Flava!!.......2003-02-14
I got into Tony Humphries mixes by listening to them on Music Choice network on Direct TV. Unfornuately, he did the mix exclusively for Music Choice and one was not able to buy it. All I know is, the mix he did was "hot to death" and it made me want to invest in United DJ's of America. On this CD, you get the feeling of Deep New York/Jersey Garage/House Music. It is a great dance CD with soulful rhythm and vocals (which what a lot of progressive House is missing) as well as the funk to keep your body moving. Tony just doesn't bump, bump, bump like other DJ's, he adds flava which makes a "true" House mix!!! Run, don't walk and buy this CD!!!!
Smooth.......2003-01-16
This CD is a great dance or chill out album. Good to listen to before going to the clubs, driving through the city or just hanging out. Tony Humphries is the man.
Now this is what I call HOUSE!!!!.......2001-10-05
It's been a long time since I heard a Mixed House CD as good as this one. This CD is everything any True lover of House is looking for. Tony does not dissapoint on his latest effort, I have nothing bad to say about this CD.....It's perfectly mixed, the tracks are Tight, the beats are Phat, the vocals are very, very Soulful, what more could you ask for? In the past few years there have been so many new definitions of what House is, with this CD Tony lets you know what "REAL" House music is all about.
The standout tracks on this CD are: "Rescue Me" by Sunkids featuring Chance, "Caves of Altamira" by E Man and "Painkiller 2001" by Alliance DC, but over all every track on this CD is da Bomb!!!

Your telling us that Perfect Combination, Total Science, Optical, DECODER, Usual Suspects, Distorted Minds, Brockie, and JuJu all qualify as beige record companies ??? I haven't even heard this CD yet and I can tell he is on point !!!
Good outing, but not DJ Craze at his best.......2002-08-19
I'll have to agree with the "5 stars for mixing, 3 stars for tracks" idea. Would you expect anything less than flawless mixing from a DJ Craze studio album? First and foremost, this is not a turntablism CD. While Craze does start and end the set with his signature turntable-wizardry, he saves it for only when it truly enhances his set, so no complaints of a lack of tablism here. The flaws of this record lie mostly in his decision to use exclusive tracks sent to him by various record companies. Does "Solarize" really deserve the introduction? I don't think so. Maybe this had something to do with the fact that this is United DJs of America release, but it dosen't really matter. If you want a truly great Craze mix CD/tape, find a bootleg promo at a party. You're likely to get a great mix of both Drum 'n Bass and hip hop with more turntablism and a generally more energetic set. Maybe you'll even get an annoying emcee from the UK thrown in the mix (sorry...it had to be said).

Dj Craze is an awesome turntablist, and I was overly excited when I heard that he was doing a d&b alblum. It really turned out pretty mediocre though. There was some scratching at the beginning, but that was about it. I guess I was expecting him to pull more tricks out of the bag. What you have left is a run of the mill d&b mix.
hip hop turned dnb stylee...........2001-07-20
this record is amazing....don't be fooled, buy this cd now....
alittle history, yes dj craze has won at the dmc finals blah, blah, blah, blah...not to say that this is not important, but his history w/ dnb is beautiful....i read in an interview that craze played at a "rave" in one of the back rooms, he was still playing hip-hop, then he heard drum n bass...and heard the urban influence in the music...he then started the journey into the wonderful world of drum n bass....
the great thing about this cd, is that its not your standard mix of dnb...craze at this point, was just introduced to dnb, there wasn't any time for him to get caught up in the "stylistic" views like most dj's...he doesn't stick w/ one style of dnb, there's jazzy stuff, organic stuff, and dark stuff on the same mix cd...unlike most dnb mixes that have just one theme and can get stale at times, and loose the listeners interest, this mix is a constant breath of fresh air...
craze does magic w/ his fingers on the mixes and scratches on this piece...while building a wall of bliss w/ each track thats laid down...this is a "buy on sight" cd...don't miss it....
QUESTION: what happens when you mix a turntablist w/ drum n bass? you get a wonderful blend of beats and cutz, bow down to the real mix master, dj craze...

Best Of The Series.......2006-10-11
The Frankie Bones Mix is the best of the United DJ's Of America Series, & In my opinion is the best official cd release he has ever put out to date bar none. I recommend it to any electronic music collectors or old school rave & techno fans that might have missed it the 1st time around.
The only drawback to listening to this mix is hearing the sound of a scene growing into what was supposed to be the next big thing & then realizing that the american electronic scene just imploded in on itself almost in as much time as it took to record this cd.
Either way frankie bones ranks right up there with Ozzy Osbourne & Jim Morrison in my book.
This is a classic.......2002-03-20
wdjelier from Wisconsin & A music fan from Staten Island, NY
have both hit it on the nose. This CD, simply put, is a must have in any collection of true underground house.
A MUST FOR RAVER'S AROUND THE WORLD!.......2000-05-15
