Julian Marsh packs a punch of mostly trance with this one........2005-04-12

Julian Marsh begins this set with gospel house that is just way too commercial and happy for my taste. But by tracks 4 and 5 things get a more intense, trancey and pulsing. Slammin vocal tracks follow, including one by Abigail that I was unfamiliar with, and even more trance follows...the euphoric, layered synth female vocal variety. You get some nice long versions on this disc:

This one's for lovers of diva vocal house..........2005-07-25

Filled with female vocal with mostly a commercial edge, David Knapp's mix begins with light funk house, and by the 5th track, segues into harder stuff. There are some big tracks on here (The Heartbreak, Everyday, No Man Can Tame Me) as well as some covers, including a hard techno mix of Erin Hamilton doing Kiki Dee's I've Got the Music in Me as well as a really awkward sounding tribal cover of Pat Benatar's Invincible. There are plenty of divas-Inaya Day, Dajae, Kim English, Pepper Mashay. Definitely a good disk for a party crowd (David Knapp knows how to do that well). Track times are relatively short, except for a few standouts:

Keeps the Dance going!.......2002-07-28

This particular albums sales are to benefit Geared for Life - a Detroit area non-profit organization whose purpose is to produce events to raise funds for local organizations to provide services for people affected by HIV/Aids.

With that said, this is a great dance album. Track 1 begins with your typical "Diva House" vocal from Inaya Day. Things start to groove with Soulstice on track 2. On Track 3, Purple God switches to a disco flavor. Track 4 has a steady beat with some good vocals. I love vocals in my dance music and this continues through the next few tracks. Tracks 8 & 9 get funky again with Flip Flop. Track 10 switches back to "Diva House" type vocals and rounds out nicley on track 11 featuring Pepper Mashay, of "lets get soaking wet" fame, as she adds her distinctive house chants. Track 12 ends with a neat re-mix of an old Pat Bennetar favorite Invicible however the vocals are provided by Sevana Stone.

All and all, it's a great listen and the beat doesn't break down too much with too many breaks of that odd silence found on many dance and trance albums.

I just picked this one up because I loved the cover art, but sinec I was so pleased with this, I'm thinking of getting a few more of the Party Groove series!

DJ Alyson Calagna gives you what the liner notes promise.......2005-04-13

I'm not familiar with Alyson Calagna, but I was impressed by the chunk of songs in the middle of this disc. There are some very slammin progressive and hardhouse vocal (male and female) tracks alongside the instrumental tribal beats, just as she describes. This is one of those discs you buy not recognizing many of the titles, and discover a handful of hidden gems that you'd be willing to search out the singles for. The kind of stuff you hear during a big night out at the club, and think, "What is this? I gotta get this!" Track times are:
