4 out of 5 stars Experimenting with mind altering substances........2002-01-23

This is a great album worthy of 4.5 stars, in my book. I have to correct the past reviewer in even insinuating this to be a trance record, for it is by no means. In fact, it's more housey than trance, but fear not all ye whose stomaches turn at the word house (I am one as well); this is far beyond house. If given a genre to put it in, I would label it, maybe, hard, experimental, acid manipulation. The name Prototype 909, alone, should kind of tell you this. This New York trio's choice and range of sounds derived from their obviously bountiful array of old school analogue synths, sequencers, and drum machines, combined with the constant, multiple, simultaneous tweakings of, what sounds like, a wall of knobs makes this an immediately essential record for any lover of acid tech. The caiprinah label is also doing a lot for the world of music right now.

3 out of 5 stars a decent attempt from a n.y. triad.......2000-07-25

the breakbeat_trance sounds of catchy and non-intrusive tracks of this electronic triad prove their worth. it definately recalls the influences of '97 in a ten track ride of pitches and curves. most tracks never reach the pinnacle that you might find in other hard tranced tracks but what they offer is something that you can groove to any day of the week. i was just happy that it wasn't house music.
