Hardcore for those who love harccore and even people who dont!.......2005-10-19

Wow, listening to this double CD sure brings back memeories: The most vivid one being a sixteen year old spanderx wearing, Aqau net haired MOTLEY CRUE lovin hair metal chick and having a friend ask me if I would play one of his tapes in my radio. I said okay and what followed was a total assault on the senses: "We dont care what you say , we're gonna mosh it up today! We're MURPHY'S LAW! (Arf,arf,arf!) MURPHHHHY'S LAW (Arf,arf,arf!) I had never heard anything like it...and still haven't! That guy let me keep the tape, by the way, knowing I would use it to recruit even more MURPHY'S LAW fans (which I did!).
This CD is hard to come by, but worth the effort, because it has both of MURPHY'S LAW's best albums (in my opinion), the first two: MURPHY'S LAW and BACK WITH A BONG. Of course, like most teen anthems should, these songs are about having fun, drinking beer, getting stoned and trying to get a little somethin' somethin. Oh, and the occasional fight (Which sometimes occurs when in search of the other four things) (Sit Home And Rot, Fun, Crucial Bar-B-Q,and QUEST FOR HERB are a few faves).

best of times...........2005-01-31

I had the original first self-titled LP released on Profile records back in 1986 and played it religiously. Murphy's Law were perhaps not the most important band in the early NYHC scene but they were the most fun. This split CD includes their first and second release in one crucial disk. What I loved about seeing these guys live is their anthemic sing-a-long tunes such as their theme song; "Murphy's Law" and the simply stupid "Sit at Home and Rot". No one could instigate that much fun like Jimmy G! And those early days included on the drums a pre cro-mag named Harley Flanagan. Unfortunately he's not on the records but if you can imagine those two knuckle-heads in one band, then you will understand what craziness this band used to create. Fun band, great memories, still love them to death.

Murphy's law Is one of the best albums of all time. New York Hard Core's Beer Drinking, Dope Smokin,stage diving,bootstompin freaks at there best. And Back with a bong is great and u get them both for one low Price, if u don't buy this your a Fool!!

The true kings of childish hardcore mixed with traces of ska make for one heck of an enjoyable CD. Make no mistake by the amount of tracks listed above this 25 song cd is one of the most fun listening experiences you will ever have. "Crucial B-B-Q" is an amazing song and so are so many others on this album. An impressive debut although something like 9 or 10 years old. get this CD and the other and if you get a chance see this band live.

Worst!.......2006-07-21

Definately one of the worst Rap albums out there, again hurting the south's already bad reputation of weak lyricists. The beats are something left to be desired, while the lyrics suck. Many of the featured artists on the album don't help. Two notables (on the good side) are "Shake Ya Tail-Feather" feat. Nelly and P. Diddy and "This Goes Out" feat. Lil' Jon, Lil' Wayne, ect. If you were ever impressed with the radio play of "Shake Ya Tail-Feather", don't buy Murphy's Law, just download it as it poorly represents the rest of the album.

music like this makes me feel almost ashamed to tell people i like rap...everyone says hip hop is dead because of people like him. dont waste ur time/money...and the only reason im reviewing this is because it has 4 stars at the moment which is about 4 too many...

I wish I could strap Murphy lee to a rocket like they do in the old tom and jerry cartoons and send him to another world. Maybe on the world that he lands on the aliens will enjoy his simple rhymes, wack beats, and overall unlyrical content. It is funny how the industry will take on a buster (nelly) and then put all of his buddies on too (st lunatics). Collectively these guys are st louis garbage.

Don't buy this album, it is weakly put together and it does not live up to the hype. Nelly is the only thing good about this album. The beats suck and the lyrics are not interesting at all.

Murphy's Law last release is not the band's best, but it still has a lot to offer. Though it contains several excellent songs, there are also a few less-than-great ones that bring down the overall quality of the CD. That said, this is still a must for any Murphy's Law fan, especially for songs like "Sarasota," "Dysfunctional Family," "The Plan," "Bitter," "Greenbud," and "What Will the Neighbors Think," all of which demonstrate that Jimmy and the boys still got what it takes. But at a running time of 23:35, understand that you're paying full price for what's basically an EP.

If you're just getting into Murphy's Law (which I can't recommend enough), this CD is not the one to start with. For pure start-to-finish quality, I recommend "Best of Times," which unfortunately is long out-of-print. If you can find a used copy of it, pay whatever they're asking. It's worth it. But a more useful recommendation is the "Murphy's Law/Back with a Bong" re-release which contains the band's first two albums on one CD. In both terms of quality and quantity, it's an amazing value and serves as a terrific introduction to one of the best bands out there. Stay gold!

GREAT CD.......1999-11-18

Murphy's Law are one of the best punk bands around. I don't really know why they're not very popular. I would pick them out as a band that would become known (by more people than the punk underground). I recently saw them live with Misfits and Gwar, they put on a great live show too. Even though this cd has 11 tracks on it, each song is about a 1 minute and 30 seconds long, so don't be expecting a long cd. Highlights are "Don't Bother Me", "Dysfunctional Family", and "Shut Up". If you buy this cd (as you should), tell everyone you know about them. They deserve some recognition.

This album's tight!.......2003-10-07

This album is pretty cool! not the best lyrically, but still he can rap!(not as good as Nelly, but close). Now to the tracks:

Don't Blow it-I don't listen to it. The chorus sounds real messed up.-3/5

Hold Up-Tight! one of the best on the album! Nelly's hot with the chorus. 5/5

Granpa Gametight-It's alright, the chorus is weird but the rapping is okay. 3/5

Luv Me Baby-I love the chorus on this but I can't seem to listen to it for more than a minute. 3/5

Cool Wit It-It's kinda stupid, but for some reason I listen to it. Weird. 5/5

This Goes Out-Great party song! Nelly screams Oh-Wo! in the background every 5 seconds, and Lil' Jon keeps it crunk. 5/5

What Da Hook Gon Be-Why do you think i got the CD? This song's tight featuring Jermaine Dupri. 5/5

So X-Treme-Nice. I love the chorus. The rappin's good, and it has nice lyrics. 5/5

I Better Go-Great. Avery Storm does a great job with the chorus while Murph Dirt break it down. 5/5

Red Hot Riplets-Pretty cool, not the best though. The Lunatics guest appear. 4/5

Regular Guy-Um, it's okay i guess, not like the rest of the album, it's different. 4/5
