4 out of 5 stars Israel Vibes Inna France.......2004-09-20

This is a live recording of Israel Vibration during their French tour in February of last year. Like all of their other recordings, this album serves up some quality roots reggae, starting off with the Roots Radics and ROCKFORT ROCK, a song that immediately puts you into a Rasta groove. This would be a 5 star album if it wasn't for the inconsiderate editing of the concert. It's pretty obvious that the concert was cut up into pieces, as the track listing constantly jumps from Skelly to Skelly to Skelly, and then to Wiss. Otherwise, this recording is excellent. Here, Israel Vibration provides you with some of their classic tunes, like COOL AND CALM, VULTURES, WHY WORRY, and THE SAME SONG. Newer tunes can also be heard on this album, like the jumpy JAMMIN and LEVEL EVERY ANGLE, which sends a positive message through the pumping bass line, lead guitar, and horns. This is a great live album, but if you have never seen or heard Israel Vibration live, this would not be a great place to start. In my opinion, this album does not capture the full magic of an Israel Vibration concert. If you want to capture the full magic of an Israel Vibration concert, I would recommend "Live Again" and/or "Vibes Alive."

5 out of 5 stars do you want some more?.......2003-10-28

backed by the heaviest crew in jamaica (the roots radics), IV just keeps going and going and going. spreading the word of jah rastafari, these guys are amazing and this set is an essential chronicle of their recent "fighting soldiers" tour. with a nice mix of classics and newer material, the sixteen tracks rock hard for 72+ minutes. and, as usual from RAS, the sound quality is excellent. support live music and be sure to catch 'em when they're on the road. peace!

5 out of 5 stars add this one to the list.......2003-10-24

add this one to the list of spectacular live reggae shows caught on cd. and you thought they were getting old. backed by the industry-standard roots radics band, izzy vibes delivers hit after hit; old favorites like the seat-of-your pants intro rockford rock, same song, vultures, red eyes, cool and calm, ball of fire, and why worry, and also a few newer tunes like get up and go, african unification, jah runnings, and some a holler some a bawl. and the crowd's "we want more" reaction to every note they play makes you feel like youre right there; the energy is at maximum irieness. even people who dont care for reggae will dig this. i promise.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Reggae Compilation.......2007-07-03

This is a great reggae compilation. If you like 70s reggae, this is for you. There is not a bad song on the disc. The recordings are all excellent quality as well.

5 out of 5 stars Must-Have Reggae CD.......2003-03-13

I bought this years ago, only knowing a few songs on it, and LOVED every song...then lost it, and am psyched to find it again. This CD is truly excellent.

5 out of 5 stars Must-have reggae.......2001-01-03

I must say I consider myself a serious reggae critic, and this mix has some of the best ever...had it 8 years ago and finally found it again....PRAISE JAH!

5 out of 5 stars Jammin' and Outstandin'.......2000-07-28

This is one of the best mixed reggae albums I have ever heard. I recommend it to anyone who listens to reggae. Every song is up-beat and will make you want to get up and dance and sing. If you only buy one reggae album make this the one.

5 out of 5 stars "New Sound,Same Gap Band".......2007-02-07

In 1983 the Gap Band released their first album without producer Lonnie Simmons and from the looks of thing the time was well worth spent. With Ronnie now taking over the producer reigns the Gap Band display a slightly different sound but still keeping the funk alive. On this album you can really see where Aaron Hall got his influence from and also wher Charlie Wilson got his. The first song "Shake A Leg" is a well arranged funk number with its nice horn section and Charlie's Stevie Wonder like vocals. The second song "I'm Ready (If Your Ready) with its smooth lead vocal by Charlie and hanclaps throughout the song should have been a major hit but still recieved a lot of airplay in the D.C. area when I was kid back in the early 80's. Although their were no number one singles on this album(first time in two years) "Party Train" still snuck it way in the top ten on the r&b charts. The first ballad off the album "You're My Everything" is good but is not one of their best ballads, still a good listen. The reggae inflenced "Jammin In America" is okay but is a little to 80's sounding for me with all the synthensizers. Charlie Wilson displays a great vocal on the touching "Smile" but again is overly synthensized(thank goodness its only 3 minutes 'cause who knows where they have took this). The hit "Party Train" is the highlight of the album and like many of their hits features some superb drumming from Raymond "Moon" Calhoun. After two more funk numbers "Jam The Motha" and "I Expect More From You" things slow down a little for "Your Something Special" which features a change of pace with a rare lead vocal from brother Ronnie. The closer "Someday" an emotional tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. follows Stevie Wonder's(who also helps out on backgound vocals and harmonica) "Happy Birthday" theme three years earlier fom his Hotter Than July Lp and like his Lp also ends the album on a high note with a great message. Ronnie really shows off his production skills but would never again duplicate this as would the Wilson brothers ability to create such a excellent album, which was also their last album on Mercury/Total Experience before moving over to Total Experience exclusively on the next album. Great way to end their tenure on Mercury and although they were still a great group throught the 80' while having some hits, this was truly the last of the great roman numeral Gap Band Albums. I originally recieved this album on tape during the Christmas of 1983 I still had to run and get the cd reissue with its excellent remastering years later. And I'm glad I did purchase this cd because as I write this review its currently going for [...](Ouch!), considering I originally purchase this cd for [...] in 1997 and again two months ago for [...] here on amazon.com. Great album if you can find it for a reasonable price, but definitely not worth [...].

5 out of 5 stars Get It Now - Before the price really goes way out!.......2005-04-21

If you like sound lyrics and message music then "I expect more" for those of you in troubled one sided relationships and the soothing, haunting yet uplifting "Someday" (That day has not come yet!) will fill you with a sense beauty that you will only find in a hell fire church with a great choir and a smashing band!!!
These two tracks are worth the price alone - Go Get It!!!

5 out of 5 stars Much Preferred Follow Up.......2003-09-24

The SONGS on "V" (as opposed to grooves) are far more
interesting that what it followed up."Shake A Leg","Party Train"
and "Jammin' In America" are movers of the first degree while
"Smile" far supersedes the slow ballads on previous albums. The
whole affair closes with a poignant tribute to MLK in the
Stevie Wonder-inspired "Someday We'll All Be free",featuring that artist in fact.Recommneded over "IV" in EVERY respect!

4 out of 5 stars A sleeper.......2002-10-15

This album is a good album that did not get its due. Party Train, Jam the Mutha, and I'm ready are good funk jams. Someday is the message song. You're something special is a classic ballad.

5 out of 5 stars Bestofall.......2001-12-13

This particular album came out in a time period when a lot of change was taking place, and it offered songs that were full of life and hope. I think it should be placed back on the record store shelves and promoted once again. at this present time in life, people should have music made available to them that has as uplifting feeling with it, no matter if it was just made, or if it was made 30 years ago. This album will never go out of date. it is one of the best of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
