5 out of 5 stars Speed II Soundtrack.......2006-09-06

This was a gift for my mother and she loved it. Received in perfect condition. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!!!.......2005-03-26

This is a really good album for the price. My favorite track is 5 which is TK. TK is the theme song only kinda different.

4 out of 5 stars makes you feel like you're in the tropics.......2001-10-09

i think this is a good cd. i am one of the few people that actually liked the movie too. there are good songs on the track that make you feel like being on a boat or at the beach. the "tk remix" is very good to listen to aswell. i am a competitive ice skater and i used parts of that track for one of my past programs. overall this is a good cd and i would recommend it.

1 out of 5 stars The Love Boat this is NOT.......2001-07-17

I work on cruise ships, and rest assured that this soundtrack contains a collection of songs that genuinely do encapsulate the environment for which they are intended: ie pure kitsch (except for the fact that I doubt very much if ANY cruise line could afford UB40, regardless of how the group is doing these days). The remix of Mark Mancina's original "Speed" theme is painful, and while we're talking about him, why has there been no sign of his score? I can only echo the sentiments of one of the other reviewers: that his rumbling, fast-paced compositions have, much to my own frustration, never appeared for public consumption...

4 out of 5 stars Perfect music for a beach party........2000-11-01

I bought this CD this month after A. Waiting three years for a score CD by Mark Mancina to appear, as with the original "Speed", and deciding that it won't ever come; B. Waiting three years for the video to finally come down in price, buying it, and deciding the songs are perfect for the film. With the exception of the "Speed TK Mix" the songs on this CD are all heard aboard the ship, before Wilhelm Dafoe's character pulls out all the stops---literally. I don't really have a favorite track on this one; but by all means. but it and play it at your neighborhood block parties for the summer of 2001.

if you have even a remote taste for hip hop there is no way you could think this mixtape is 'painfully bad'. copywrite has one of the most ridiculous flows ive heard in current mc's

5 out of 5 stars hot S**T !!!!!!!!!!.......2005-08-23

this is one hell of a mixtape, mayne..

for real..

the guest appearances are the entire odot crew, its dope...
you wont find rjd2 or any of his old producer on this one, he's startin anew....the beats helped this mixtape a lot, although they did jack sum beats for this album's freestyles portion

on this cd, hes proven that he aint a one-sided rapper thats all about the punchlines, he's brough out his storytellin side on trakz like "size 12's" and more...
so yeh, hes switchin up his style on this one..
this mixtapes only a preview of what his second official release will sound like...

dont sleep

4 out of 5 stars WoRd uP!!!.......2005-08-19

Copywrite a very skilled MC (punchline flows) going off on every fake rapper out there. (His featuring artist bring it as well) Its not all punchlines, you get some intricate flows and storytellin' as well.

        Product Description

Cruise Control is D-Lucca's second full length Album. It is 15 songs and 75 minutes of Contemporay Jazz, Rock, and Electronica blended into cool thought provoking smooth funky music. With D-Lucca's Piccolo Bass in the lead, he brings together the sounds of Terry Disley's Keys (Acoustic Alchemy, Brian Ferry), Steve Moretti's Drums(Rosemary Clooney, Tony Tennile), Lorn Leber's Guitar (The Jerry Garcia Band), Daniel Zinn and Joshi Marshall's Sax (Professor of Jazz studies at Cal State University Hayward, Mingus a Mungus), and Joe Hebert's Cello (California Symphony Orchestra) and combines them with elegent compostions to create a heart filled album of passion and love. With some of his closest friends and family performing on this project, D-Lucca has created one of the most timeless records of 2006 that should be part of every household CD collection.

          5 out of 5 stars Groovy & funny.......2004-02-25

I don't usually write reviews, but I think Skeewiff deserves it. Although I'm not into dancing (at all), I can't listen to these guys without my feet moving all over the place. They have a unique (as far as I know), groovy sound, and a good sense of humor.

I personally prefer this album to the previous one, "It's All Gone". It has big band partitions, Mexican breezes and even sounds from the 60's, which often made me feel like I was listening to tracks from the soundtrack to a James Bond movie.

My favorite track would be, without debate, "Comin Home Baby", based on a piece with the same title by Ben Tucker.
The vocal sample in "Badinerie" is from Swingle Singers performing J.S. Bach.

          Strongly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Skeewiff has a sound like no one else!!!.......2003-12-25

This is one of the best and most fun albums of 2003. It is quirky and fun without being cheesy. Big band & 60's Mod sound with funky organic breaks. I Play this album out all the time when DJing and recieve nothing but positive response. If you like this album, you should listen to the Frank Popp Ensemble, Malente, & Organic Audio.

3 out of 5 stars Sequels are never better than the original.......2003-08-20

Skeewiff's latest 2003 album, Cruise Control, has some of the spunk from his earlier album, but this time incorporates some singing and smoother loungesque tunes, to produce an album which seems like a step down from his 2000 album. Don't get me wrong, this album can hold its own in terms of style, but it was somewhat of a let down from Skeewiff's It's All Gone... album. Nevertheless, it's a fun album containing a whopping number of tracks (19 including 2 bonus tracks), filled to the brim with funky go-go tunes.

The first track, Nitty Gritty, is a pop-embraced song straight out of the 60's. I usually shrug and change the track halfway through the song because it doesn't seem to go-go anywhere. Track03 is the flagship song which gave the album its name. The formulaic structure of the song reminds me of Propellerheads' On Her Majesty's Secret Service where the song seems to end but blasts back into its main theme numerous times; an interesting technique, to say the least. Track05 has Skeewiff attempting at his version of a hip hop song which not only sounds sappy but makes me NOT want to come over there and give anyone any loving. Track 06 uses Elvis' A Little Less Conversation public domain tune but lacks the vocals that make that song so memorable. Some lessons can be taken from Junkie XL's version. Track08 is a female version of a James Brown song, again with singing. Skeewiff enjoys his humor as much as the next guy, track12 is proof of that involving a report about "a feltching session gone wrong." The track had me in stitches. Tracks 10 & 14 (The Bone part 1 and 2) are fine songs, especially if you don't mind a female being pleasured in the background, just make sure you don't play this with your windows down. Track15 is one of my favorites, not only being the longest track, it has a progressive quality with a funky fast paced tune, ending with vocals which sound like something out of Moby's Play album. Finally, track18 (the first bonus track) is another one of my favorites because it's so unique and fun to listen to, Skeewiff basically remixed an old lady work out tape. The woman's voice has me convinced she's the same one to start off Bentley Rhythm Ace's song Run on the Spot.

Well that's basically the low down. I skipped a ton of tracks because they neither involve criticism nor compliment on my part. They are just enjoyable songs which flood your ears and escape just as quick. How ironic the album is titled Cruise Control, you let it run and sometimes don't even realize it's playing. This album could use some major tweaking, but I enjoy it just the same. But I do advise; if you're starting off with the Skeewiff experience, start with his older album.
