5 out of 5 stars Excellent album worth owning for all electronic and dance music fans........2006-01-13

Tripomatic Fairy Tales is by far one of the best electronica and dance album releases EVER!

Back in 1992 there was this little known trance track that I heard of called Stella. From the very first time I heard of it I was hooked. It was fast and energetic, sort of a minimal track that just caught you off guard and took you along for the ride into euhporic extacy. I was so into this track I had to learn more about Jam & Spoon. I was totally hooked and researched anything and everything this duo who had produced many euro dance bands but Stella was nothing like Dr. Alban or B.G. The Prince Of Rap. It was tons better.

I waited until 1994 when Tripomatic Fairy Tales was finally released by SONY. Then I found what a great album it was. I kept listening and listening to tracks like Find Me (Odyssey To Anyoona) (Radio Mix), Odyssey To Anyoona, Right In The Night (Fall In Love With Music), Path Of Harmony and of course that excellent track STELLA.

Now that I am listening to this wonderfully excellent album of pure dance pleasure I am reminded that albums like Tripomatic Fairy Tales are few and far between.

If you haven't the pleasure of listening to this amazing album then by all means run to your local used music store and snatch it up before you wont be able to anymore. On another sad note I learned yesterday that DJ Spoon had died. Through his excellent album he will always be remembered.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD, a must to have!!! .......2005-11-21

I am visiting Las Vegas, and today, was shocking experience, at the Wynn Hotel, when i was playing roulette, i couldn't believe, they have in the general audio, the song FIND ME of Jam&Spoon!!! All my friends where shock when i told them, it is a song from more than 10 years ago!!!
If you are a real fan of electronic music, you must have this CD. The songs Find Me, and Right in the Night, really worth the price of this.
Also, take a look at the single Be Angeled, the Paul Van Dyk mix is absolutely great!

5 out of 5 stars Tripomatic Love.......2005-08-02

I was in the music store going through the cheap $1.00 CD's when I saw Jam & Spoon amongst a cabinet full of rubbish. Considering I have 1000's of CD's in the dance/trance/techno department and the fact that I am a DJ and have loved dance music for 15 years, I knew exactly who Jam & Spoon were when I saw the CD. However, considering they have multiple albums, many different aliuses (e.g. Storm, Dance 2 Trance, and Tokyo Ghetto Pussy) and I haven't listened to any of their music in several months, I was thrown off by the title of the CD. I assumed it was a newer release with the '2001' being in the title. When I looked at the tracks very briefly, I saw "Stella" and immeadietly jumped to the conclusion that it was the new millenium remixes and not the original version.

So I bought the CD, popped it in, expecting to hear their newer, slower sounds (post 1998), but what I heard was some of the best trance music ever. I kept asking myself, "Why is this so freaking awesome?" Then I got home and looked up this CD on Amazon and started seeing reviews about how this album is like a pioneer of trance music. I quickly grabbed the CD and looked closely at it and realized it was made in 1993, not 2001!!! I was dumbfounded, yet, to my surprise, I was so happy that I had picked up this CD. I cannot stress how powerful this album is.. it sounded like some of the newer progressive house music from 2004 and 2005 (e.g. Tilt and Way Out West) and it's still not dated, 12 years later. On top of that, the CD offers some very powerful deep, hard trance that I have been looking for ever since I really got into J&S's other project, Dance 2 Trance but was unable to find anything comparable.

This CD gets 5 stars plus 5 more because it's not only living proof that J&S are responsible for the incline of trance music, but it's also a CD that can be loved from the opening of "Heart Of Africa" until the final seconds of "Stellas Cry". However, it's "Find Me (Odyssey To Anyoona)" and "Tow Spys In The House Of Love" (tracks 2+3) that sets this CD off for me, in the way that they are intertwined together so perfectly. It's hard to understand why Jam & Spoon drop the hard trance style heard on this album and navigate into the Eurodance sound in later albums. All in all, this is one fine creation!

5 out of 5 stars A Benchmark.......2004-03-21

There are 2 significant releases from the '90's that reshaped the future "face" of club/dance music: "Tripomatic Fairytales 2001" from Jam & Spoon and "Accelerator" by Future Sound of London. Both undeniably brilliant in how they pioneered what was to become "trance," "progressive trance," "art-house trance," et al. "Tripomatic" is an all-inclusive work of art that only trained seekers of electronica will seek and enjoy. This is the Mona Lisa of what was to come. Experience this.

4 out of 5 stars Wave after Wave of inspired compositions.......2004-01-07

One of the most interesting features of Jam and Spoon's pioneering trance album is that the two singles "Right in the Night" and "Find Me (radio mix)" are both characterised by prominent vocals. Although both of these songs are very good in their own right, the more one listens to the album in its entirety, the more one realises they fit in less and less.

The brilliance of this album comes from its instrumental qualities. Although these qualities were always present in the singles (and who can forget the vivid introduction to "Right in the Night") they are present in unadulterated form in the album tracks. From the beginning, through "Heart of Africa", "Find Me" and "Stella (original version)", the tone is unmistakeably set. Vocals are properly relegated to a supporting role in all of these - as is pure and beautiful.

Writing in early 2004, eleven years after the inception of Tripomatic Fairlytales, it is remarkable how little it has dated. Although one can recognise from the early 1990s some of the bass-driven sequences which could be labelled as 'deep house', yet it portends far further forward in time than it reaches back.

A final remark should be made. Most of the tracks are at least 6 minutes long. The result is unhurried bliss.

2 out of 5 stars a disappointment.......2003-06-12

I *want* to like this album, I really do. I loved Psychotrance 2000, and had high hopes for the 2001 edition. What a letdown! The bulk of the album is a series of stale, repetitive drum loops with little variation and only the occasional melodic or vocal ornamentation. The last four tracks provide just a tease of redemption, pulling my rating up to two stars...but it just wasn't enough.

4 out of 5 stars A little more subdued than Psychotrance 2000.......2002-07-10

Techno music can never be relaxing; that is never its purpose or its consequences, but this mix is certainly more "relaxed" compared to the earlier mix "Psychotrance 2000". The DJ takes us through a different journey in this compilation, but it is still 21st century music. It departs from norms and takes no part in tradition. It looks ahead and never behind and takes as axiomatic that the past is as a catapult, and the future as always refreshing.

The tracks: 1. "You Got It": An introduction to what's ahead. 2. "Choose Life" has vocals, delightfully competing with the turntable for domination. 3. "Ruhe": A visit to a European dance floor. No worries here, just intermixing. 4. "Mindless": No room on the dance floor. Sweat is the dancer's body oil; their proof of joy. 5. "Perspectives": A proliferation of patterns and regularity, and a hard accent every two beats. 6. "I'm Not Existing": The best track on the CD. Subtle background whispers overlaid on steady rhythmic patterns. 7. "D-Fly": Malevolent in the beginning but such outlooks are forbidden in this music, so it breaks free, as it must. 8. "Search and Rescue": Erotic, seductive, feminine. 9. "Forsaken": The vocals echo and are a source of temptation. They permit no stillness. 10. "Belive": No rest and no respite from movement. One of its themes keeps growing, but is suddenly overpowered by vocals. 11. "Solid Ground": The vocals echo, the themes repititious, but the effect is satisfaction.

4 out of 5 stars A review from allmusic.com.......2001-09-17

Here a review from Jason Birchmeier(AMG EXPERT) from allmusic.com:
Fuse's second release in Moonshine's Psychotrance series finds the Texas DJ moving away from the anthemic trance of Psychotrance 2000 toward a darker style of deep progressive house. The monstrous buildups and breakdowns have been replaced by a constant driving tempo with plenty of atmospheric aura and pumping rhythms. There are a few moments such as during LSG's "I'm Not Existing (O. Lieb Main Mix)" and Highland's "Forsaken (Part 2)" when big synth riffs come into play, reminding listeners that this is indeed trance music even if D:Fuse has moved away from many of the genre's more obvious characteristics. The best moments on the mix come during the final few tracks when the music becomes increasingly melodic with beautiful synths and some complimenting elegant female vocals. Besides the smooth finale where D:Fuse opts to conclude the album with feelings of gentle aural beauty rather than steamy intensity, the album maintains a nice feel throughout, never hitting an obvious lull or an overdone peak.

3 out of 5 stars OK but not so great?.......2001-04-03

hey this is a pretty good CD but not as good as the 2000 edition, and definitely as good as a live show. If you are a d:fuse fan buy it but if not, start with psychotrance 2000!

2 out of 5 stars WHERE'S THE INTENSITY?.......2001-01-11

I don't understand why people gave this five stars. This album has weak or little build-ups if any, and is just kind of plain. I agree with the other two reviewers who gave it lower than 5 stars. I go clubbing a lot, and am able to get a wide range of hard club music, trance/progressive house. This album would get NO play anywhere. I have heard that D-FUSE is a good DJ, but his album is nothing to get excited about. This only contains 1 or 2 tight tracks on it. Weak, mellow, and garbage, is what it is. DO NOT WASTE THE MONEY ON THIS ALBUM!

5 out of 5 stars Best CD I ever bought!!!.......2004-05-03

I bought this CD in 2001 and since then it never stopped playing on my radio. Worth the money.

4 out of 5 stars Good mix -- give it a chance!.......2004-02-10

I agree with a few of the other positive reviews of this cd. I really enjoyed it. Much more than Skribble's 2000 one. Some of the reviewers (bedroom DJ, for example) seem to slam DJ mixes that have "popular" tunes in them. SO WHAT?! Just because people like them and they tend to get played a bit, doesn't mean they should be tossed aside. I agree that a few songs are overplayed, but I never got that feeling on this mix. Overall it's upbeat, bright and crisp. Kind of like an Oreo cookie; kinda soft in the middle, but crunchy on the ends.

recommended. even though it has some "popular" tunes on it.

peace.

2 out of 5 stars well hm.......2003-04-28

ok. first i will tell you why i hate dj skribble (specifically this album) then i will tell you why you may love him.

i am a dj (a bedroom dj, but a dj nonetheless). you do realise that sandstorm has been out for about 4 years now, right? hang on. i got it. heres skrib's mixing style: play song all the way thru. when vocal or main hook drops out from first song (aka when it goes back to just the beat, at the end) (in case you dont know, ALL club mixes of songs have about a minute at the beginning and end thats jus the beat, for mixing purposes) anyways, when that drops out he adds in the next song at the beginning. so when the minute ending of the first song stops, the minute beginning of the second song is ending, and it goes into the tune. wonderful mix yadda yadda sounds great yadda yadda. every time i pick up a skribble mix, i can tell you, almost without fail, the first time hearing it, when each song is going to start.

that being said. if you are just casually into dance music, you'll like this cd. you'll like all his cds.
wondering if youre a casual listener or not? heres the test:
Do you consider the following songs overused to the point of tedium, or wonderful club tracks:
Darude - Sandstorm
Zombie Nation - KernKraft 400
DJ Sammy - Heaven
Daft Punk - One More Time
Basement Jaxx - Wheres Your Head At

if you think more than 2 of these are still wonderful club tracks, or dont recognize ALL of these tracks, you are a casual listener. go pickup MTVs little pet dj (Skribble). If you find these tracks boring, almost taboo to play as a DJ, you had better look elsewhere. ive got a couple suggestions :)
Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold - Essential Mix (double cd)
Carl Cox - Mixed Live (theres two. pick one! lol)

1 out of 5 stars Not Good At All.......2002-04-12

OK, let me start by saying I have always hated DJ Skribble. But I saw some of the songs on here and I liked most of them, so I decided to buy this album. BIG MISTAKE! Like stated earlier, if you are a casual (very casual) listner of electronic music then you may appreciate this album. If not, stay away from it and save your money! Skribble somehow manages to destroy all of the good songs on this CD by adding his own items to the songs (he successfully RUINED my favorite song on the CD, "I Wanna Be You" by Chocolate Puma by adding Tamia's hook into the breakdown before the song starts again! TERRIBLE!). The other few good songs on here you could find elsewhere on different compilations (and with better versions of the songs I might add). Thanks for nothing Skribble! Hey, on the bright side, at least I now know NEVER to buy anything from him again no matter what songs are on the disc!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Dance Album.......2001-12-10

This CD is seriously one of my favorites. You will like it, I can assure you. The songs are fantastic choices; they are mixed together well and its great for a party or for energizing yourself. Theyre all great, but my favorites, if you want to listen, are 9 and 14-17. Get this CD! 5 stars!

    4 out of 5 stars TN 5 -- Corsten does it again.......2002-08-13

Trance Nation 5 comes in strong after an impressive showing of Trance Nation 4. MOS and Corsten fans will not be dissapointed with this aggresive mix full of great tracks.

CD 1 is by far, in my opinion, superior than disc 2. It's almost like they piled everything onto disc 1 then put all the "iffy" stuff on disc 2 (which is still great, but compared to disc 1 it's hard to hold up!)

CD 1 has a lot of popular club/dance hits that are remixed by Corsten flawlessly. He continues to be one of the masters of the industry.

CD 2 still has some good tracks (Tiesto's 643, Beautiful Strange) but for the most part it's a bit erratic and just not as smooth and addictive as disc 1.

Overall, a great set, I would buy it just for the first disc. I would give the first one 6 stars if I could, but the 2-disc set is hurt by second one.

Also, if you like this, I would highly recommend Corsten's new Trance Nation 2002 release, it is another great hit by the man.

5 out of 5 stars The is the latest, greatest.......2002-01-20

This CD shows why MoS is still #1 in dance music. It is well mixed by no other then Ferry Corsten, one of the best DJs in the world. The tracks are all very good, probably their best CD since TN1.

5 out of 5 stars This CD is supreme.......2001-10-19

I love TranceNation series. It alwasy has the hottest tracks. This CD is no exception. On the other hand, i also suggest Trance Match series. The latest album has lots similar songs. If I have to choose, I will go with Trance Match.

5 out of 5 stars Corsten has proved himself a leader of Prog. Trance.......2001-07-25

System F (DJ Ferry Corsten) is a person that no one answers to in the trance world. With the release of Trance Nation 3 (which I highly recommend), and Trance Nation 4, which starts out with a slightly less melodic beat (but still very good), and this album as a successor, Corsten has proved to be truly great. This album once again shows his talent in even more ways, adding everything from pounding bass and beat in DJ Tiesto's 'Flight 643' to more melodic vocal songs such as Tenth Planet's 'Ghosts'. When it comes to this DJ, it's all good. Like other Dutch artists such as DJ Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren, Corsten is able to seemlessly blend hard trance with and a euphoric, pulsing melody and vocals. It is truly wonderful music for any person interested in fast trance. It is a good CD to start a trance collection. Other trance essentials I recommend are Alice Deejay's 'Who Needs Guitars Anyway' and Darude's 'Before the Storm'. If you like double disc sets, I strongly recommend checking out the Gatecrasher series.

    5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2001-06-26

What a much needed come back from MOS and Ferry Corsten. This release is amazing bringing up some really progressive trance. Forgive me for saying but i think this is better than Trance Nation 1. That annoying original track warrior is even remixed into an amazing track. Corsten plays with you through out this CD. If you like progressive trance this is probably the best one ever. If you have any heart or blood pressure problems consult your physician before listening.........Im not kidding.

5 out of 5 stars Quite simply one of the best trance CD's ever pressed.......2004-11-22

This is the CD that got me hooked on trance. I'd mostly ignored the genre before discovering it, but this is to trance music what "Citizen Kane" was to movies. Since the wonderful day I discovered t[]c I've found them almost impossible to beat (no pun intended). Yes, people go weak at the knees for Tiesto and Oakenfold and Van Dyk, and I like those guys too, but this is the album I keep on coming back to. Like "Dark Side of the Moon" for rock, this is an album that you just never get tired of. If you get it for no other reason, "Psychotic Chaos" is just an *amazing* track.

Not only is the album absolutely top-notch, these guys really rock. Their website is fun, informative, and they give all the stuff away for free (but dont let that stop you from buying the CD - we want them to keep making music). They discuss all their tricks of the trade in their VIP room, and just seem like all-around damn nice guys. No attitudes and big heads here.

Buy the CD, support the band. You wont be sorry on either count.

      5 out of 5 stars deep,dark,driving beats that can't be beat!!!.......2004-02-08

If you like deep dark trance this cd is for you. I have had this cd for a while now and I'm still listening to it. The bass and beats are driving you can fill it in your bones. The thing about this cd thats bad is, it's real hard to find!! I found mine at a local FYE. I never shop there the prices are insane, but I grabbed it when I had the chance and you should to if you find a copy. You will love this cd and trust me it will see a ton of play time in your cd player!!! Far beyond trance, addictive trance, it should come with a warning lable.

5 out of 5 stars BEYOND TRANCE AND A WORK OF ART.......2003-03-17

THIS TRANCE IS SO GREAT AS IF IT HAS BEEN CLEANSED BY A GOD

      5 out of 5 stars Best trance/techno available.......2002-03-20

Being one who loves the Rave style music but not really of the Rave generation, I was so happy to find Trance Control. I too first heard them on MP3.com and have followed them for several years now. Beyond 2001 is an amazing album that is almost surreal in its mood. You will love it, no matter your taste in music.

5 out of 5 stars I know what is real Trance!.......2002-02-09

I love this Artist since I have first downloaded "Undergroung Raver". Since then, there is no doubt Trance[]control is one of the Real Trance artists in my mind. for this CD, I recommand you, trance lover, to listen to Deep Minded. That is damn superb!

5 out of 5 stars Club Hits 2001.......2005-11-12

I do agree with the other reviewer, the Circut Party is a good series. But these are good songs on here, except that I found the last two songs on the second disc to be rather annoying. Overall, this is a good CD.

I am questioning if the version of Sandstorm on here is by Darude or not. It has his name in the booklet that comes with the CD, but I haven't found this version anywhere else.

2 out of 5 stars Not so good as the club hits 97 and 2000.......2001-05-05

It was a kind of dissapoint, because the club hits are not like that, buy i recommend circuit party 1,2,3,4,and 5 are just great.
