like night and day..........2006-08-30
That's what I thought of this set. The NEC show is definitely not up to standards, mostly because of Ritchie. He sounds uninterested and occasionally just stops playing in parts of songs. Doesn't even start playing until his Highway Star solo. Parts are pretty good, particulary Knocking at Your Back Door and Perfect Strangers, but overall the show suffers from Ritchie's lack of interest.
But then there's the Stuttgart show. Something must have gotten into everybody for this one, because it just rocks. Even Gillan's screaming on Child in Time is pretty decent, considering that this is 1993, not 1973. The soloing is fantastic from everyone, especially Ritchie, and the crowd is more into it for the Stuttgart show. Funny side note: during Speed King, Ritchie starts to fool around with the Burn riff, and he and Jon go into a neat 30 second jam that gets a good reaction from the crowd, but probably not Gillan. Another funny side note: Jon does something really weird and discordant (intentional?) during the second verse of Smoke on the Water that prompts Gillan to sing "...funky Claude was running in an'--that was pretty awful!..." before going back into the rest of the verse.
The NEC show is worth a listen or two, but Stuttgart is what really makes the set worth owning.
Ritchie Phones It In.......2006-08-21
These shows, recorded on the last tour Ritchie Blackmore did before leaving Deep Purple, are a testament to just how uninterested Richie was in participating in the band. As in most shows from this tour, The Man In Black could barely be bothered to play most of "Highway Star." This CD collection is for die-hard Purple fans only. The highlight of the collection is the short preview of "Hall of the Mountain King" Ritchie plays. This song will end up on the Rainbow album, "Stranger In Us All." For all sane Purple fans, "Come Hell or High Water" is the definitive live CD from this tour.
Another objective review for you..........2006-08-19
Two shows with the same setlist: One in England and one in Germany. The Germany one is better because Ritchie was busy throwing water on a camera man at the start of the English concert and doesn't start playing guitar until the solo of "highway star" (no kidding!) But what can you say? The media is like cops, they're never around when you need them and like parasites all around you when you don't. Also, Gillan misses a few of his lines at the England show, like coming out of the rhythm section of "Perfect Strangers". The whole band sounds pretty good and the production levels are pretty top-notch. Ritchie plays above average throughout on the Stuttgart show, but I find he must be using different pickups on his stratacaster now. It sounds close to the old DiMarzzio pickup he used to have but it's more like a Seymour Duncan, which doesn't offer the same "grating", squealing effect that he used to have. It's still Ritchie, but the soloing on "Lazy" and in other songs is missing a bit. Gillan is in his forties on here, so his vocals are not a "ten". More like a 7.5. If you want a good DP show on CD that includes the original line-up and has songs from the "Perfect Strangers" CD, arguably their best work, then this is the one for you.
....disapointment.......2006-08-17
However there are some sparks in the show like Anya.
They play proffecionally but all the time I have a felling that something is wrong in the band. Blackmore plays great but like only for himself, like he is only on the stage.
GILLAN SOUNDS THE WORST I HAVE EVER HEARD HIM...
Now I understand why Ritchie was so angry!
Lord's organ sounds far back for Ritchie favor...
In 1993 there were much more better show in Scandinavia.
Why they taped those?
...wasting of money...
Historic Recording.......2006-08-10
This CD does not show anything different from 'Come Hell and High Water` - the only difference is Ritchie Blackmore's participation which is better. On Come Hell... we feel his lack of enthusiasm and here on 'Live in Europe` he is still on the mood for playing with Deep Purple.
The songs are great and it is a must have for any hard core fan.

Customer Reviews:
A Rewarding Ballad Album.......2001-11-20
Pat LaBarbera may be best known for his long association with the Buddy Rich Big Band during the late 60's and early 70's. Rich gave LaBarbera plenty of space to develop his hard-driving style on tenor and soprano saxophone. Since then LaBarbera has been resident in Toronto, Canada, teaching and playing in various Toronto ensembles, including the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra, and the cooperative group JMOG. He has also toured extensively with Elvin Jones' group as the featured saxophone player.
LaBarbera's vast experience has put him in a good position to record a 72 minute CD of his favorite ballads. Only the most mature and seasoned musicians can pull off a recording like this, and LaBarbera has succeeded admirably. His sound and style are deeply rooted in John Coltrane (in the liner notes LaBarbera cites Coltrane's Ballads as a personal favorite album) and in my opinion, this CD is every bit as engaging as its more famous couterpart. LaBarbera's tenor sound is full and focussed. (I love the 'trane influenced tenor sound on standard chord changes.) LaBarbera plays the melodies of these ballads with great beauty before moving into tightly controlled melodic improvisations. The ballads he has chosen are not all that familiar in some cases, but they are all rewarding and memorable melodies. My personal favorites are "There's a Lull in My Life";
"Moon and Sand"; "Some Other Spring;" "I Heard You Cried Last Night", and "As Long As I'm Dreaming." But the performance quality is uniformly high on all 12 tracks.
One of the reservations one may have about a ballad album is the lack of variety in tempos. But the group actually vaires the tempos a bit within the ballad framework, so that several selections approach a walking tempo. La Barbera adds variety as well, by playing two selections on soprano sax. The side musicians (Don Thompson, piano; Neil Swainson, bass; and brother Joe LaBarbera on drums) could not be improved upon, and Thompson and Swainson shine in the solo spots. An engaging and rewarding saxophone CD, beautifully recorded. Highly recommended.

Australian Version featuring Four Alternate Tracks Not on Any Other Version: In Command, Not for Sale, Welcome to My World, and Stay
Customer Reviews:
In Deep Australian Version.......2002-04-03
This is the very original version of In Deep which was released in Australia in late 1997. It wasn't until 1998 and 1999 it was released to other markets such as the US, the UK, Mexico, etc. Each version of the CD has significant differences among them. This one too, is worth having. This version of IN DEEP features songs which were not on the US version, such as the jazzy "Welcome To My World", or the beautiful ballads "Stay" and "Not For Sale". These are all great songs, but the one that is well worth the price is the "Burn" (Acoustic Version), a very beautiful version of her great ballad, just her and the piano. The songs which are not on here but are on the US version include the great Diane Warren ballad "If I Was A River", the ballad "No Shame" and the duet with Marc Anthony "I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You". IN DEEP is one of her best albums, and both the US version and the Australian version are worth having!
Unsung Hero.......2002-03-22
Very inspirational. This song really inspire one to be naturally giving and be humble
One of the finest releases of the late 90's.......2000-07-22
It is a baffling enigma as to why "In Deep" didn't do as well as it should have in different markets. The US chose to ignore her again. The UK release showed little response. What gives? This album, which has evolved since it's 1997 release in Australia, has Arena treading water on all sorts of genres. The actual surprise is that she does it very, very well. Standard fare radio tracks like "Burn" and "Unsung Hero" give Arena to express them with deeply felt emotion. The same kind of emotive style that has eluded pop stars such as Whitney Houston and Britney Spears. "If I was a River" is simply gorgeous, a beautiful track put together by cash-mongel writer Dianne Warren. Arena gives life to almost every song on this record. The real gem on this record happens to be the 3rd single from the Australian release, "Now I Can Dance." It's a striking love letter to her friends and fans. She has to achieve creative freedom, and be free of her past. Judging from earlier releases, such as "Strong As Steel," "In Deep" does a wonderful job showcasing that.
One of a kind singer.......1999-07-19
Buying her album is just like buying your emotions. You can relate to her songs it matches you.If your broken hearted you can find a song that suits you.Tina was a one of a kind singer and a composer too!If you wont buy her album you really loose one half of your life!Greaaat!*******
a fantastic chill out album.......1999-04-25
yet again tina proves that she is THE singer of the 90's forget miss Dion, tina is it !!! i can't wait for the tour

Customer Reviews:
Worth the price, though high, for Space Truckin alone plus.........2004-02-19
This reissue, from Japan, of the Classic 1974 Deep Purple Mark III release is pricey, no doubt, but well worth it for Space Truckin', previously unheard. The interpolation of both "High Ball Shooter" and "Child In Time", though very briefly for both, proves the band keeps in touch with their past. The band rocks, and although purists would contend that the truly "classic" versions are from Machine Head and Made In Japan (with Ian Gillan, Mark II lineup, which they are) the combination of Hughes and Coverdale does a fine job covering the song; along with Blackmore's guitar, Lord's organ, and Paice's drums. It provides a nice "showcase" for all of the band. As well as the other tracks, the inclusion of this previously unheard of (outside of Japan, probably) track is absolute genius. For the "true" Deep Purple fan, no version of "Space Truckin'", or any of the other classic Purple hits, is "too long". It's a flat out, straight ahead, "jam" for the most part. The only, and I mean the only, criticism I have is that the booklet inside the double cd, gatefold, cover and packaging, is that there wasn't an "English" translation of the notes in the booklet. The only parts I could "make out" were the names "Deep Purple"; Elf, Rainbow, and the song titles. Thank God the lyrics were in English. Other than that, it's worth the price. [As a point of reference for newer Deep Purple fans, High Ball Shooter is found in the original on the Stormbringer release and Child In Time, of course, is on In Rock, Made In Japan, and other releases]. Deep Purple will, along with Black Sabbath, and others of the times, forever freakin' rock!. [Got to keep it "polite" you know, or they won't publish it.]
space trucking as a bonus track.......2003-09-04
I have bought another japanese cd version in 1990 without space trucking on the bonus track. This double cd set is including long 30 minutes track "Space trucking". The other songs remain the same. Mark III line up with Coverdale and Hughes was on the roar at that time. Need I say more?

Exciting live performance from studio wizards.......1999-09-17
I've loved Deep Forest since I heard "Sweet Lullaby" for the first time, as beautiful a piece of modern world music as you'll hear, and seeing this live album available made me salivate with anticipation. Not just for the song selection, but also I wanted to learn if these guys could cut it onstage. The answer is an emphatic YES, as they augment the original tapes and loops with a seven-piece band that is nothing short of wonderful. From the opening "EKUE EKUE" through the closing "MADAZULU", the emphasis is on rhythm and vocals, with magnificent drummer Neil Conti anchoring a solid working unit for Deep Forest, which is, of course, Michel Sanchez and Eric Mouquet. "Sweet Lullaby" is rendered here in an acoustic intro, then gradually all the pieces fall together and this lovely anthem glows brightly. Most tracks take on a new life in concert, but stay faithful to the original intent. This is a Japan only release and who knows if it will ever see the light of day with a domestic release. If you love Deep Forest as I do, you won't wait for that. You'll spring the extra few bucks and enjoy this wonderful disc now. You won't be sorry.

best screamo ever!!!!.......2004-03-15
This is the best cd i have ever listened to, they are the best screamo band ever. Every song on the cd is awesome. it has mainly heavier songs with amazing guitar leads, there are also a few slower songs. Bulet Theory , Escape Artists Never Die and Waking Up are the best songs on the cd.
A New Band, Good Decision.......2004-02-11
I admit when I heard about FFF that it sounded like some samey emo rock band. But I gave it a chance and found it to amazing! They are by far in the top 15 bands to come over from England. Get this cd, u won't be disappointed.
Amazing.......2004-01-01
From start to finish this album is a classic. When I got it I was in HMV and saw in on the shelves for £8.99 and I had previously heard 10:45 Amsterdam conversation which is a great song, so I bought the album. I have always been a big fan of this kind of music. FFAF make bands such as Finch, Poison the Well, Hoobastank look tallentless. Every song is great, which is normally hard to find in an album. The best are Bullet Theory and Escape artists never die. They are the best songs my ears have ever heard.
BUY IT!
F***ing awsome.......2003-11-20
All i can say is that this album rocks! , It has suck a good mixture of thrashy riffs and melodys. Ive been waiting a long time for a good emo-core cd to come out and this is it. This band deserves where they are now, Been listing to then since the days of "10:45 amsterdam convi". And i new this band would be big and now they are definantly making a name for themselves. I would really recommend this cd!
Amazing debut!.......2003-11-12
this is a great album, buy it,do i really need to say anymore?well ok then..
the first single, jeaneu,is a classic, great riffs, great vocals, great lyrics.the second single, she drove me to daytime tv,is just as good,in fact all the songs on this album are good.
theres never a moment in the album were you flick to the next track and its not very often you can say that about an album.id be very hard to inpress, esspecially when it comes to new bands,i kinda stick to what i know(korn, ill nino, bush, sinch)but this band make it onto that list.
