World's Greatest Club Collection
World's Greatest Club Collection
Editorial Reviews

Despite the grandiose title, none of the usual dance-floor suspects--Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim--are present. Instead this peculiar compilation throws up an incongruous variety of remixes by artists as disparate as Gene Loves Jezebel and the Future Sound of London, with no discernible link. Thus, Bow Wow Wow's early-1980s pop hit "I Want Candy (Girl Eats Boy Remix)" sits uneasily between the industrial goth of Transmutator's "My Wonderful Friend (Deranged Mix)" and the primitive techno of Kraftwelt's "Deranged (Interfaith Section 8 Mix)." Selections from Information Society, DJ Keoki, and Heaven 17 (with a rapper, no less) further confound the proceedings. Perhaps The World's Strangest Club Collection! would have been a more fitting title. --Aidin Vaziri
