Given the chart success of their Grammy-winning country single "Who Says You Can't Go Home," it's no surprise Bon Jovi upped the ante by recording an entire album paying homage to Nashville. In some ways, it's amazing they didn't do this sooner, given the way Keith Urban in particular is blurring country-pop lines, much as Garth Brooks and others did in the 1990s. To their credit, you won't find predictably shallow invocations of past country icons or any self-conscious, in-your-face down-home twang added strictly to remind the listener of the musical premise. In fact, Lost Highway isn't "Bon Jovi goes country" so much as a meaningful tribute to the Nashville ethos done on their own terms. They honor the spirit of the town through 12 simple, direct originals. The intimate, smoldering "(You Want To) Make a Memory," the ballad "Seat Next To You," "Lost Highway" and its roaring celebration of freedom, and "Stranger," an effective duet with LeAnn Rimes, all invoke country's spirit, and "I Love This Town," an eloquent nod to Nashville itself, ties it together admirably. --Rich Kienzle
Album Description
"Artistic freedom made this record possible," says Jon Bon Jovi. "Musical freedom to explore--and emotional freedom to express what was in our hearts."
The result of that freedom is Lost Highway, an album Jon describes as "a Bon Jovi record influenced by Nashville."
Bon Jovi explains. "Nashville is all about songs and songwriters. If you're someone like me who loves songs and hanging out with songwriters, Nashville is the place. I thrive on that feeling and I'm inspired by that creative ambience."
The result, a haunting set of 12 new and original sounding songs, is a stunning, multi-layered look into the nature of love and life in all its glory. Love, like life, is lost, found, forgotten and reclaimed in this collection.
The moods are many, but the core feeling is pure Bon Jovi.
"Writing this record with Jon was deeply cathartic," says Richie Sambora, who collaborated on ten of the songs. "I was going through emotional changes that were new for me. An ailing father. A painful divorce. The start of a new chapter in my life. I poured everything I had into this project, every last bit of soul at my command."
"For over twenty years now," Jon explains, "Richie and I have been close collaborators. Even when our songs create fictional stories, they reveal our states of mind. To a large degree, Lost Highway focuses on the light that love brings. When you shine the light on love, you see the chinks in the armor. You see every crevice, every crack. And that's all right".
Lost Highway is Bon Jovi's tenth studio album since the band formed in the early eighties. One hundred and twenty million albums and 2500 concerts in over 50 countries later, Bon Jovi is enjoying the greatest popularity in their history.

In My Opinion, Their Best!.......2007-07-13
For years, I've liked Bon Jovi and enjoyed their music. But, when I think of serious rock productions which define an artist, I think of Billy Joel's "Nylon Curtain" or "The Stranger" and U2's "Achtung Baby" and "The Joshua Tree". Bottom line for me with the above examples - serious fun and seriously composed and produced with every track being very, very solid. I feel that this effort by Bon Jovi is ROCK SOLID! Every track flows well and translates through what seems like to me the band thoroughly enjoying themselves! I think this is their best work by far and one I will be listening to for years to come! Thanks Bon Jovi!!!!!
love it.......2007-07-13
I love this CD. Bon Jovi at his best: the overall impact is "just right"--not too slick but still rocky enough to satisfy the rocker chick in me, but not so harsh that the romantic side isn't satisfied too...these guys get better as time goes on.
BON JOVI AND SAMBORA AT THEIR BEST !!!.......2007-07-13
This is Bon Jovi...with a wonderful Nashville feel! Lots of great stuff. Some rockin'; some very moving ballads...for us mature (old) farts too!
Thanks Guys,

Not like their original, but still a great album.......2007-07-11
Love many of the songs. I personally prefer the first half of the album to the second half. I feel the song choices are better in the first half, but that doesn't mean that after listen to the album a few more times I won't like the second half just as much. The first half just seems to have songs that linger in my memory well after listen to the cd. Especially love Lost Highway, Make A Memory and We Got It Going On.
Make a Memory is a slow song, similar to All About Loving You from the Bounce album or Always (not to be put in the same basket as Always though). Its a slow, teary song which pulls at the heart string.
We Got It Going On, reminds me of I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. Its upbeat, fun and full of energy! Great song... fun to sing along to in the car!
Lost Highway brings a bit of a country feel, but still keeps with their rock and roll roots.
Some of the songs sounds similar to those on previous BJ and JBJ's solo albums, however this isn't such a bad thing. It looks like they realised what worked and reused those pieces on this album with similar sounds and vocals.
Overall I love this album and am happy I purchased it. If your an old fan who loves the hard rock from way back you may be disappointed because this album doesn't go back there.
Not really impressed.......2007-07-10
I've been with Jon & the boys from day 1 but this album is missing something...
There's no real song that I have to listen to over and over again.
I have it in my CD collection but have gone back to listening to Bounce, Crush and Have a Nice Day.
Jon, Richie, David and Tico: get back to knock-your-socks-off rock and roll!

One of country's fastest-rising acts, Sugarland arrive at their follow-up to 2004's triple-platinum Twice the Speed of Life in a considerably altered state. Chief songwriter and founding member Kristen Hall is gone, and producer Garth Fundis (Trisha Yearwood) has been usurped in favor of crossover hitmaker Byron Gallimore (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill). One could argue that these are the predictable results of success--by opening for such megastars as Kenny Chesney and Brooks & Dunn, the Atlanta-based trio was forced to retool its organic, singer-songwriter, folk-rock sound to fill arenas. And while their intricate vocal harmonies added a subtle creative dimension to their debut, Enjoy the Ride is made up mostly of songs ("County Line," "Mean Girls") constructed to showcase lead singer Jennifer Nettles's big voice in ways the previous album did not. While the repertoire was written by Nettles and surviving partner Kristian Bush in collaboration with proven songsmiths Bobby Pinson, Lisa Carver, and Tim Owens, much of the wistful intimacy of the first album is now diminished. Furthermore, it seems foolish to now call this act a duo, as Bush receives very little time in the spotlight apart from his vocal harmonies and performance on guitar and mandolin. None of this should matter on the charts, however, since the real focus was always on Nettles, whose twangy, force-field soprano more than carries the day. As before, the lyrics are upbeat and positive--if the message of the first album was of flight and searching, the theme here is of digging in. The winsome Nettles does a fine job of selling it all, positioning herself as the Ambassador of Optimism, the Deep South successor to Jo Dee Messina. --Alanna Nash
Album Description
Sugarland, with the help of producer Byron Gallimore (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack), deliver the same ferocity on Enjoy The Ride. From the catchy coming-of-age kick-off single and chart-topping "Want To," to the reflective rocker "County Line" and the hopelessly optimistic "One Blue Sky," the combination of Jennifer's powerhouse country-soul voice with Kristian's passionate harmonies and deep-rooted musicality hits home, even if these two road veterans, each with a decade of club experience behind them, hardly ever see theirs. "If we can't go home, we do in our minds," Kristian explains of their songwriting process, which on this record, includes collaborations with country artist Bobby Pinson ("Want To"), Brad Paisley's co-writer Tim Owens ("Settlin'"), old pal Jeff Cohen ("April Showers") and Nashville local Lisa Carver ("One Blue Sky," "Everyday America," "County Line," "These Are The Days"). "There's a sense of nostalgia," Jennifer continues. "You pull from the time when you were figuring out who you are as a person. Like in 'Want To,' it's not only a story of falling in love, it's about that moment or a choice that could change your life. And with 'County Line,' it's about a place where you have your first kiss or get in a fight or talk about football and that time when you felt most free."

Enjoy the Ride.......2007-07-05
This cd has a few great songs but they seem to blend together by the end of the cd! Not as exciting as I thought...
Nettles is a Legend in the Making.......2007-05-23
In today's cookie-cutter music industry that is full of over-produced and studio-pastuerized songs, it is vital to have a unique tone and style that makes you immediately-identifiable on the radio. At the core, I am a Rock musician, yet I appreciate a variety of music styles when performed and recorded well. Sugarland entered the scene as a "hip" Country act and knocked us (the audience) into a full-on smile! While they have been admirable and impacting as a group, it truly IS Jennifer's voice that is a huge selling point as a member of the band. When she sings, you immediately KNOW that it is HER! Many musicians just DREAM of having a instantly-recognizeable style that people will love! Miss Nettles is THERE! Furthermore, just about ANYTHING Country that she sings is gonna sound great because of her deep Southern accent and her unique vibrato and determined energy. How many OTHER Country artists have had a hit single with Jon Bon Jovi? It is hard to NOT like Jennifer Nettles, unless you don't like Country music AT ALL!! 'Nuff said!!!
Enjoy the Ride by Sugarland.......2007-05-20
I loved the CD. I think Sugarland gets better with ever CD released. Would recommend almost every song on the Cd.
Not settling..........2007-05-08
A great Cd with lots of straight to the heart songs. You won't go wrong with purchasing this cd.
Sugarland No 2.......2007-04-28
"Sugarland"'s second album "Enjoy the Ride" consists of 11 tracks, most of which gradually almost blend into one music piece. This is one of the feelings it leaves on first hearing. It sounds like Sugarland No 2 is weaker than Sugarland No 1 Twice the Speed of Life. But things are not that bad when you listen to it again.
After their successful first album we'd expect the same joy of both upbeat and intimate music from the trio. But here comes just upbeat music from the duo. Fortunately, the lead singer is still there, her voice too, her energy and style of radiating positive energy with music seems to be there too. But practically gone are the soft, intimate, quieter notes and tunes. Maybe only in "Stay" there is something left of that side of "Sugarland"'s signature art.
They have two 'signatures' though. And the optimistic, filled with energy, loud, pushing signature is there in most of the tracks. You would especially like "Country Line", or "Want To" where the pushing is not overly-loud or overly-pushing, though they are still far from the appeal of several biggest hits of the group's first album. Some other tracks are just a continuous loud exhibition of Jennifer Nettles' vocal potential and instruments that can make the packed stadium dance and cheer, but might be just a tiny bit much for other occasions. Still, tracks like "Happy Ending", "April Showers", and "Sugarland" manage to balance between energizing and desire to sing along. This saves the album. And this CD is also great to listen to while riding a car in an open road (especially titles like "Settlin'"), which fully justifies the title of the whole album. You can still hear artistic attitude to voice and music in most of the album's material. And surely in some pieces you cannot but enjoy the rock-ish country sound ("One Blue Sky", "Mean Girls", and many others). Though "Mean Girls" is a bit over the top of the country/rock'n'roll boundary.
Fans and listeners would certainly like the album, maybe after the second or third go at it, when the time for listening to universally positive and loud music is right. But "Sugarland"'s producers should think hard to make the third album great on first hearing, not to leave the group in a big contemporary country music pool floating among numerous soundalikes. Hopefully, Sugarland No 3 leaves us without any doubt about the group's sure future in the charts and, most importantly, hearts of listeners.

Customer Reviews:
Decent Start...but hopefully a better one will come along.......2007-07-10
As far as greatest hits by the band, this I believe is the first one of studio cuts anyway. I saw this one in the Spring in the top Ten at Amazon, and was wondering why all the sudden interest in Bon Jovi, of course they did just come out with a new CD, and the new stuff is pretty good, me myself recently got the Remasters of their first 3 or 4 Cd's, and I admit that "Keep The Faith" was the last one I bought...But I did get the big box set of rarities 100 Million fans can't be wrong, so they are indeed my major rock guilty pleasure.
Is there no "Essential" Bon Jovi yet?, didn't see one...I was hoping for a 2 CD set of their hits along with a few deeper album cuts by now not that I need that, just that it would seem it's time for that since they've been around for 20 plus years now. Hopefully it isn't far off, this band deserves a better career collection than this one, I can't imagine the casual fan wanting this lacking set, even the order is strange. Of course the hardcore Bon Jovi fan likes about every one of their songs, maybe only 4 or 5 from the first album, but even I like most of the songs on 7800 degrees, and an essential would have to have Tokyo Road and Silent Night on it or I would not buy it. As far as Slippery, New Jersey...every song on those should be essential, maybe one or two left off...and that they are not on the greatest hits as this is known, is a major flaw. I'm thinking the ultimate Bon Jovi greatest hits set would have to have at least 4 songs each from the first two CD's, and then maybe 5 or 6 from Slippery, New Jersey, and Keep The Faith? That would fill out 2 Cd's I think and make a nice collection; better than this one for sure.
Hopefully fans new and old will get a better restrospective soon, this one is a nice start I guess, but I would highly recommend checking out their remastered catalog for more hits. They don't have many duds at all at least on their first 4 or 5 Cd's. The late 90's one's I don't know, perhaps an essential collection would contain some newer songs...but classic Bon Jovi is good enough for now.
A great Bon Jovi collection.......2007-06-09
For the most part, this is a great Bon Jovi collection. I do not equally enjoy every song on this album, but this collection includes nearly all of their early hits.
Cross Road.......2007-06-09
I love this CD, it's awesome, the songs are the best. Especially "Always", "Bed of Roses" and "I'll be there for you"
Decent Beginner's Set.......2007-05-22
For people who only know Bon Jovi from their "Have A Nice Day" and beyond years, "Cross Road" is a very good collection of tunes for them to check out. It gives the listener a solid set of their most popular tunes from their hair band heyday before they got all earthy/Mellencampy. This album is by no means a complete gathering of their greatest tunes. It leaves out at least two songs ("Living In Sin" and "Born To Be My Baby") and instead fills those holes with the dismal "Prayer '94," the forgettable "Always" and the harbinger of things to come, "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night." "Someday" is actually a very good modern roots rocker, but people don't buy greatest hits albums for the new songs. People buy this album for songs like the original "Livin' on a Prayer," "Wanted Dead Or Alive," "Bad Medicine," and "I'll Be There For You."
Lesser known tunes from their earliest offerings(particularly "Runaway") signal the beginnings of a great band to come. Later songs such as "Keep The Faith" and "Bed Of Roses" reveal a band in rock decline and quickly headed for the adult contemporary sound. In short, "Crossroad" gives the listener a pretty good take on how a band from Jersey made it big, leveled off, then headed for the sweet and steady success of light rock. Just to shake things up a bit, "Blaze Of Glory" from Jon Bon Jovi's solo "Young Guns II" project is included. Sadly, we do not get a sample from any of Richie Sambora's solo works. He really is a much better guitarist than he's given credit for, and it would have been nice for one of his tunes to be included in this collection.
I grew up during Bon Jovi's prime, and am proud to say that I own original cassette copies of "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey." Although they weren't my favorite hair/glam/hard rock band (that was Def Leppard), they were still one of the best around at the time. Bon Jovi is no longer the band they once were, but for people who want to know where they came from, this is the album to pick up.
BON JOVI AT THEIR BEST!!!.......2007-02-17
Words cannot describe how awesome BON JOVI is!!! I am their #1 fan and no other group in this world produces such quality / entertaining / heartfelt music. I RECOMMEND YOU BUY HAVE A NICE DAY and ALL OF THEIR CDs!!!

Slippery When Wet transformed Bon Jovi from minor-league poodle rockers to global superstars on the back of hit singles "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Never Say Goodbye," and, of course, "Living on a Prayer." From the scantily clad car-wash girls on the inner sleeve to the "You lost more than that in my back seat / Yeah!" lyrics, the album is blissfully untouched by irony and subtlety, which actually adds to its charm. With guitarist Richie Sambora and songwriter Desmond Child, Jon Bon Jovi has produced a slew of consistently memorable tunes, and this album contains its fair share of them. Slippery When Wet won't change your world, but it will, undoubtedly, rock it. --Ronita Dutta

bon jovi's slippery when wet is a classic prom record. when you go to the prom this year and hear classic '80s music, you might hear you give love a bad name, livin' on a prayer, wanted dead or alive, wild in the streets, and of course never say goodbye. have fun at the prom and hold on to your keys. ed wilson
Changed my life...seriously.......2007-05-10
Everyone has that one album that they can credit with changing the way they listened to music. Some are fortunate enough to have experienced this great awakening to Are You Experienced or The Doors. For others it was London Calling, Ramones, or even Black Sabbath. For me it was Slippery When Wet. That's right, Bon Jovi changed my life. I realize on some level that I should probably be embarrassed about that little fact, but the truth is I love this album every bit as much now as I did two decades ago.
I still remember like it was yesterday. I was 11 at the time, and didn't really care about music one way or another. I did however think that Transformers were quite awesome, but I digress. I was flipping channels and came across the video for Livin' on a Prayer. I wish I could accurately describe the impact that silly, you and me against the world love song had on me. It was like all of the tumblers of a combination lock sliding into place inside my head. I knew I had to hear more, but that wasn't going to be easy. My mama didn't dance and my daddy didn't rock & roll, so to speak, so I had to track down the cassette through a friend. If Livin' on a Prayer grabbed my interest, You Give Love a Bad Name and Wanted Dead or Alive sealed the deal. After that I moved on to Poison, Europe, Stryper, and dozens of other hairspray laden bands that I naively thought of as "metal", but Bon Jovi was the first.
I sometimes wonder if I would have reacted the same way to any other album. Somehow I doubt it. Bon Jovi was at the top of their game with this album. You could argue that their follow-up album New Jersey is the band's best, but I'll put the songs on Slippery When Wet up against that Bad Medicine stuff any day! With Slippery When Wet, Bon Jovi built on the sound they developed with their two previous efforts and added hitmakers like Desmond Child to take the songwriting to a whole new level. I can hear you snickering at the thought of You Give Love a Bad Name and Never Say Goodbye as examples of quality songwriting, but it's hard to argue with the results. I believe that the lessons Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora learned while recording this album are a big reason why they are still big stars to this day, when so many of their peers have been relegated to the bar & grill circuit.
Slippery When Wet was the perfect fusion of Bruce Springsteen's American rock & roll, Van Halen's party rock image, and an impeccable pop sensibility. It didn't hurt that Jon and the boys were easy on the eyes and could represent the new face of "metal" in a totally unthreatening way. I can't help but wonder how many other kids made their way to Iron Maiden and Metallica by first discovering a band like Bon Jovi.
Say what you will about this era or this style of music. I firmly believe that Slippery When Wet is a great example of rock & roll in the 80's, and it will always have a special place in my heart.
NOTE: Slippery When Wet was reissued in 1998 with digitally remastered sound. Serious collectors may also want to check out the import version with the original cover art that the band nixed, not because of the racy image, but because of the pink border. Go figure.
Bon Jovi Album- Slippery When Wet.......2007-05-09
I grew up in the 80's and this was one of my favorite bands. I recently purchased the remastered CD from Amazon. The CD arrived quickly and in good shape. I was very pleased with the service and the prompt delivery. The album is every bit as good as I remember from my youth. Now my son is hooked on Bon Jovi as well!

I had this on tape when it came out in the 80's and have been meaning to purchase it on CD for quite some time. This CD brings back so many high school memories.
cheesy hair music at its cheesiest.......2007-02-19
I loved this album. It came out when I was about 12. I guess that's the only time I could enjoy the album.
Bon Jovi seems incapable of writing lyrics that amount to anything other than a string of cliches.
This album can really only be appreciated by those of us who were young when it was popular.

A surprise hit in 2004 and 2005, this Atlanta-based threesome arrived on the scene at precisely the right time--when country trios (Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, and to a lesser extent, Trick Pony and SheDaisy) had proved themselves in the marketplace. Like those acts, Sugarland trade on solid and sometimes intricate harmonies and a killer lead vocalist. In this case, the full-tilt Jennifer Nettles plays Natalie Maines to Kristen Hall and Kristian Bush's Emily and Martie. And while it would be lovely to hear another member of the trio out front occasionally, Nettles, a deep-dish Southerner who knows no one-syllable words ("air" is "aye-er"), is a commanding presence. Stylistically, the group mixes it up, from the folk-rock of Hall and Bush's backgrounds to the driving pop that dominates much of contemporary country radio; thematically, the songs largely revolve around restlessness, the need to escape restrictions and find one's self, and the faith that things will work out. "Baby Girl," the hit about an itinerant musician writing home for money and emotional connectedness, is but one of several surefire winners here, which include "Something More," a mid-tempo quest for a more meaningful life, and "Tennessee," in which a radio request line rescues true love. The quieter songs ("Fly Away," "Hello") are no less well written and affecting, even as the barnburning "Down in Mississippi (Up to No Good)," about housewife ennui and riverboat gambling, falls embarrassingly flat. Does this triad have staying power? Well, just as their name implies, they're a little too sweet to equal the Chicks' gravitas, but there's no denying they've got energy to burn. --Alanna Nash

Favorite.......2007-07-07
Of Course I have been listening to Jennifer since she was the lead singer in Soul Miner's Daughter, Bluesy and fun. This one is great. She's all grown up and the quality of her music just keeps getting better. When I'm having a bad day this is a great pick-me-up.
Now this is a good album!.......2007-06-13
This album is amazing. I enjoy every song on it. Several of them are radio hits, and several more should be. My favorite song is "Hello," one of the more mellow songs. There are plenty of fast-paced and mid-tempo songs, too. If you like "Something More," "Baby Girl," and "Just Might (Make Me Believe)," I promise you will like the rest of the album too.
You Made US Love YOU!!.......2007-05-06
Saw the trio with friends at the Coffee and Wine Bar in Cave Creek, AZ and swooped in on the CD - now we are hooked and play it all the time. I'm not too into Country, but love every song on this CD-A keeper in my book!!
Jennifer Nettles Shines.......2007-04-16
This CD shines with Jennifer Nettles in the lead! She has a bluesy realistic yet edgy voice that is separable from all of the newer country stars- I truly believe she will become a legend. Down In Mississippi (Up To No Good) is my personal favorite as it is an energetic "get the party started" Southern gal anthem!
GREAT.......2007-04-07

While many of their peers were abandoning '70s metal and arena rock to hop the punk/new wave bandwagon, Def Leppard smartly stripped the earlier era's music of its excesses, bolstered it with energetic, pop-savvy hooks and quickly found itself the vanguard of the UK's new metal revival and one of the '80s most spectacularly successful rock acts. The first disc of this 35-track, two-and-a-half hour double-disc retrospective focuses on the familiar hits of their early MTV, platinum-selling prime, though the inclusion of the video edit/remixes of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rocket" attempts to cast them in a more club-friendly contemporary groove. But the grittier second disc showcases some of the early, overlooked roots of On Through the Night and High 'N' Dry, as well as underappreciated later gems like '99's "Promises" and a power-pop-perfect take on Badfinger's "No Matter What" from an upcoming covers project. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Should have been five stars, but wasn't..........2007-07-07
The concept was correct: Use of a full two CD's to represent all the great songs the band has produced. However, the selection was incorrect. There is too much emphasis on obscure tracks like "Paper Sun"? and "Waterloo...". But perhaps the most glaring faux pas, is that the albums "High and Dry" and "Pyromania" are under represented. Where is "Action...Not Words" and "Stagefright" or "You've got me Runnin'" and "Lady Strange". Also, "Die Hard the Hunter" is likely the ONLY weak song from "Pyro" and they choose it? Nonsense... Once they release Pyro and High n' Dry in a remaster, those are the two to get after Hysteria.
Absolute must have for Def Leppard fans.......2007-06-19
This 2-disc collection rules. It's got all the hits and more. The songs are put in a good order on both discs. Great summary of Def Leppard's music. The fan gets well over 2 hours of Def Leppard for his/her money. Great value! Get it.
Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Def Leppard?.......2007-03-25
This is far better retrospective than the old one disc set, The Valut. That being said, I think the casual listener may find this collection to be too much Def Leppard. The first disc is fairly solid disc filled with radio hits and popular album favorites, with only maybe one or two questionable tracks. The second disc is highly indulgent with newer material that only a hardcore fan who continued to follow the band through less popular albums like Slang, X, etc. will know. If you haven't bought a Leppard album in the past decade, you won't know a lot of this disc. Overall, a very thorough set, but the passive fan may opt for the one disc import only version, Best of Def Leppard. Its not complete, but its got more than The Vault without the filler of ROCK OF AGES.
Brilliant!.......2007-03-10
I was NOT disappointed with my purchase here. There's a great selection of songs on here, showcasing the band's changing image over time. If there are particular songs that you like that aren't in this collection, I'd suggest you download them, or get them elsewhere, but definitely get this CD for the absolute best of Def Leppard. It contains great liner notes on each song, with input from each of the band members, something I particularly enjoyed. Getting these liner notes helped me understand a lot more about where the band was coming from on each song and what it truly meant to them to be writing and recording it. With this input on their take on lyrics and such, I daresay I understood the songs themselves better. It also includes pictures of the band over time, including Steve Clark (R.I.P.). Overall: Perfect for fans and those simply looking to get the best of this phenomenal band.
The greatest CD EVER!!!.......2007-02-18
This CD is amazing. It totally brings me back to my high school years. It's perfect. What more can I say.

Shania Twain--recluse, happily married, mother of one--has sold more than 40 million albums with flirty, hook-laden, beat-heavy, country-tinged pop that has all the subtlety of a musical wet T-shirt contest, yet is as irresistible as Swiss chocolate and Pringles. There are a few heartfelt, moon-in-June love ballads on this generous and long-awaited 20-song collection, which includes three new songs along with all the predictable chart-toppers and near-chart-toppers. But it's the mostly nonstop, uptempo booty-shakers--too often with garish overproduction and vapid lyrics--that, for the unconverted, tend to run together after a while. No doubt, this relentlessly upbeat retrospective will keep Twain's millions of fans jumping up and down on their sofas. --Bob Allen

Shania Twain - Greatest Hits.......2007-06-08
This CD is greatest. Her music is very moving. This is now my greatest CD. I am very glad I chose this one. You will not be disappointed at all.
Love it!.......2007-04-30
This album has alot of my favorites, plus the 2 versions of "I'm Having a Party", and "I Ain't No Quitter". The guitar play in "Quitter" is so good-extremely catchy! I love, love, love "Ain't no Quitter" and don't understand why it didn't have more airtime. And "Having A Party" just makes you want to move - it's so totally upbeat. Plus all the other songs-I love all of her music, so it's hard for me to pick favorites. I have all of Shania's albums and download them onto miy MP3 so I can hear them while I work out, etc. I'm anxiously waiting for her to give us another album! BUt this is a great one to buy and enjoy.
JUST what I was looking for!.......2007-04-21
No, seriously, this is GOOD! I got some birthday money and I wanted a Shania Twain album, but I wanted all her best songs on one CD. Then, this came out: It had all the songs I wanted and then some! It is just awesome. She has a great voice that's easy on the ears, her lyrics really flow together, and her songs are in a variety of sounds - not just all sound the same, like SOME of the artists you get these days!
And my aunty and my mum like her, so finally I can play some music I like in the car without being griped at!
A fantastic album, everyone whos loving pop and/or country music should sooooooo get this!
Lori Virginia.......2007-04-03
I think this is a great cd with a variety of her greatest hits all on one cd
Excellent Voice.......2007-01-12
This is a must for all Shania Twain lovers. Her voice is so wonderful, the songs are so uplifting, don't let this stay out of your collection.

Amazon.com essential recording
With Moving Pictures, Rush's complex songwriting and musical virtuosity reached new heights. It's that rarest of creatures, a highly listenable progressive-rock album; even the all-instrumental "YYZ" is of interest to listeners besides musicians. The highlight of the album is "Limelight"; like many progressive-rock bands, Rush writes songs about the experience of being on-stage. The result is impressive, with almost orchestral arrangements that never overwhelm the actual music. "Tom Sawyer," another classic, is on this album, as well as the science-fiction-meets-road-movie "Red Barchetta," the epic "The Camera Eye," the cautionary "Witch Hunt," and "Vital Signs," which takes advantage of the budding digital sound technology available at the time the album was recorded. This is probably Rush's best album; it's definitely their most accessible. --Genevieve Williams
Customer Reviews:
The Greatest Rush Ever Made!!!!.......2007-06-13
Moving Pictures is both one of my favorite albums of all time and one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Perfect in every aspect. This is Rush unleashed! After the near perfection of previous efforts like Hemispheres and Farewell To Kings and Permanent Waves, Rush came together and created their masterpiece. I could listen to it a million times and still never get tired of the prog-rock trio's best effort.
Tom Sawyer - Hands down one of the coolest songs ever! Here the boys from Toronto show that not only are they excellent musicians, but they can write a song with hooks from hell. Memorable and classic. I love this tune.
Red Barchetta - My Uncle has a country place that no one knows about... Another classic Rush tune. Written in the 1984-esque future-gone-wrong perspective with an idea garnered from a cool sci-fi story. This about a boy and his car and the fact that driving has become illegal. Great stuff.
YYZ - One of the most killer instrumental tunes ever recorded. This song rox! Geddy, Alex & Neil in complete show-off jam mode. Solid.
Limelight - Another of my personal favorites. A song about the other side of fame & fortune. From the opening riff, this song rocks! All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players! Excellent!
The Camera Eye - If Moving Pictures is said to have a soft spot, Camera Eye would be it, although I happen to love this song. Clocking just over eleven minutes, this is a sprawling, moody tune along the lines of Xanadu or Natural Science. A sleeper, but still strong.
Witch Hunt - I have so many favorites on this album, and Witch Hunt is another. Written about prejudice and mob mentality, Witch Hunt is part three of the 'Fear Trilogy' (The Enemy Within & The Weapon being the other two parts) that they performed live for a long time. Killer tune. Those who know what's best for us should rise and save us from ourselves....
Vital Signs - Great ending song to a magnificent album. Short and sweet and too the point. Neil's lyrics flow on their own. Everybody's got to deviate from the norm.
Overall, Rush went into the studio and came up big with Moving Pictures. This is the culmination of their earlier years solidified into something both powerful and perfect. There will never be another Rush album like Moving Pictures. This is the peak. Great songs will follow but there will never be that cohession that this album brings. Great album to start with if you are just getting acquainted with Rush. An old favorite for those of us who have been following them forever.
Dig it!
rush moving forward.......2007-05-29
While Rush has so many great albums this one is in my top three.
A classic cd from the 80's with such melodic songs as Red Barchetta and
Witch Hunt. Plus the two mega hits we all love. If you are wanting to forget your worries, put this in your cd player and sit back.
Best album ever.......2007-05-11
OK folks, I don't want to sound over the top here but only one album can be the "best ever" and this is it for me. Every track is outstanding.
This came out in my freshman year of HS but since I had no older siblings it generally passed me by until Signals came out. I picked it up, went to the New World Man tour where they played every song from 'Moving Pictures' except for 'Witch Hunt' and hence... I found my favorite band. As soon as I had the money I went to the store and bought up every Rush album including 'Moving Pictures'.
At that time a new technology was being developed -- the Compact Disc. 'Moving Pictures' was one of a handful of albums chosen for this new experimental technology and they could not have chosen a better set of songs for this experiment. If I remember correctly the CD cost about $20 which was about 3 times the cost of vinyl. It was well worth the cost.
Everybody knows about Tom Sawyer and Limelight -- played on classic rock stations to this day. They have played these two songs on every concert as well and after 25 years I have almost had enough. Notice I say 'almost'.
Unfortunately, along with YYZ, side B gets overlooked. I listen to side B more often than side A because they are never played on the radio and the quality is just as good. I remember being completely fascinated at how an 11 minute song (Camera eye) can have such little singing and come out so fantastic. The traveling Lifeson arpeggios are simple yet clever and sound so outstanding with the other instruments as you travel from NY to London in a variety of time signatures that change like a well oiled Mercedes.
Witch hunt makes you feel like you are in a Salem witch trial with the mob stirring in the background. The synth in this song is some of their best use of keyboards ever.
Vital Signs sounds a little different than the rest of the album but it is a perfect ending to a perfect record. "Unstable condition. A symptom of Life." The end of the song is so strong it makes you want to hit the repeat button and start it all over again with Tom Sawyer.
Simply a must own CD.......2007-04-27
I'm going to keep it short. Buy it, curl up with the lyrics and let it drip over your. Amazing album, amazing band.
ON TOP OF THEIR GAME!.......2007-04-25
man, 262 reviews for this CD?!? I don't remember if I reviewed it before but so what. If Rush never recorded another CD after this their place as one of the all time great progressive rock bands is already secure. I have had the absolute pleasure of seeing Rush perform 5 times and they remain one of the best live bands I have ever seen.
The production on this CD superb as is the playing. Neil Peart has influenced countless drummers, including myself, and his playing on this is tight, crisp, and clean. The track TOM SAWYER is a classic and Neil really shines on that track. Sometimes it's hard to believe it's only 3 guys in the band but each one is a superb musician. This is one of Rush's must-have discs. Their RUSH IN RIO dvd is also highly recommended. Add these two babies to your prog rock collection. Ignore at your own risk!

With his sophomore release, the Georgia singer reinforces the trend toward redneck beefcake, matching a bare-chested sleeve photo with material such as the album-opening "I Wanna Be a Hillbilly" (apparently a hillbilly with a penchant for screaming, arena-rock guitars). He engages in some pillow talk with the breathy balladry of "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right" and takes a turn toward a dreamier romanticism with "She's Got a Way With Me," featuring vocal support from Michael McDonald. A straightforward revival of Kenny Rogers's "Lucille" connects country present with country past, while the reggae tinge of "Little Bit Lonely" jumps on the contemporary country & Caribbean boat. The genial charm that he brings to mid-tempo fare such as "Good Directions" (despite its hackneyed story of the city girl who falls for the country hunk), "That Changes Everything," and "Here I Am" suggests that Currington is more engaging when he isn't trying so hard to be so sexy. --Don McLeese
Customer Reviews:
good cd.......2007-05-12
Definitely a good buy. It has enough good songs on the cd to make it well worth the money.
Definitely Doin' Somethin' Right.......2007-05-07
Billy has a great combination of crooning sing-along-songs and songs with a kick on this CD. He can go from a romantic song like "Here I Am" to a turn-up-the-sound kicker like "She Knows What To Do On A Saturday Night".
When you listen carefully, you can hear that Billy is a good song stylist.
Currington's Second.......2006-12-05
A very good second outing for Billy Currington. A very good listen from first song to last. Besides the two songs that were made into videos, I also like She's Got a Way with Me, I Wanna be a Hillbilly, Good Directions and Whole lot More.
An album where the skip button is an uneccesary option. Very smooth Country album, that's relaxing.
He must be doin' somethin' right.......2006-11-08
That son stuck on my head up to the point I had to get the album and you know what.. it's great!
Doin' Somethin' Right - and he did!!.......2006-07-15
This one sexy guy can make great music! Totally love his voice! His "Must Be Doin' Somethin'Right" is just mellow in every way. I Wanna Be A Hillbilly imagines you there and a free spirit song! Totally loved "Good Directions" - great wording and music and he is awsome singing it! "That Changes Everything" is tooo good to be true - just love the beat- you find yourself humming it during the day. I play this cd every day! You gotta get it and enjoy him! ( And I am a die hard Toby Keith fan - but Billy trips my trigger)!

To have resisted Def Leppard's radio power in their heyday, you'd have to have been a critic--and even some of us could hardly argue with the likes of "Photograph," "Animal," and "Bringin' on the Heartbreak." Vault covers a decade and a half of hits by the one-time wonder boys of the new wave of British metal, but perhaps inevitably concentrates on singles from the multiplatinum Pyromania and Hysteria. It offers little meaning beyond fun fun fun, but there are hooks here that Noel Gallagher would punch a paparazzo for. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
Excellent retrospective.......2007-05-23
This is a great CD. Every home should have one as it contains a slew of hits. It covers their entire over produced era and sure, it rather ineligently sidesteps their first two albums except for a remake of Bringin' on the Heartbreak, but for the casual fan this collection is probably the bees knees. It's the perfect catch all release for radio listeners who just want the hits and a couple of other tunes.
And there isn't really a lot of complaints to be made about the track listing. If your a death metal fan you won't find much joy here but for a fan of melodic hard rock and the super smooth production values these dudes were known for then this is a must buy.
The only things that may reduce your desire for this album would be a) you already own this stuff. B) there is precious little from their first two slabs - no Wasted or Hello America. If you fall into the (a) category then try to chase down the edition with a 2nd disc with 9 live tracks on it. Given Joe Elliots going on record as disliking live albums these 9 tracks may be the closest you'll ever get to a live album from this band, excluding bootlegs.
All up a great round up of the years 1980 - 1995 and highly recommended.
Turn It Up!.......2007-05-13
Def Leppard rocks! All of the songs on this cd are past hits that will have you rocking all night long.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.......2007-04-22
Why is this band still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Can someone please explain this one to me. They deserve to be inducted much more than some other groups the nobody has even heard of.
LOVE this CD.......2007-04-04
This is my second copy of this one. I wore the other one out. I loved it when it came out and I love it now. It'll get you moving.
Awesome Def Leppard.......2007-01-12
This is a great compilation, and I recommend this for all Def Leppard fans.
